Cigarette New Web Site

Iconic US powerboat builder Cigarette presents its new World wide web showroom.  Cigarette was one of the brands founded by at the time retired construction magnet Don Aronow. Cigarette debuted in 1969 with a racing 32 feet deep Vee hull featuring twin Mercruiser 475hp, and this hull expanded the Aronow fame of building winning boats from the start taking first at the Long Beach to Esenada Mexico race averaging 76 mph.  In three years time Cigarette with Aronow at the helm will win countless races including two World championships, three US titles, and breaking the record in the Miami Nassau race.  This success will continue with a dozen plus of other racers, winning countless races and titles all over the World.  Following this success of the Cigarette racing boat, the company presents its first production model the 28 Standard, which will be updated to the 28 Super Sleek a few years later.  In 1978 Aronow sells Cigarette to Halter Marine, with the idea of pursing horse racing and other stuff, but pass some time later on 188th street in Miami he founds Squadron XII experimenting with some 27 and 38 feet hulls.  Halter gives again opportunity to buy back into Cigarette for Aronow and with this he merges Squadron XII into the brand.  Don Aronow will buy back the remaining Cigarette shares but will sell the company in 1982 to Jerry Jacoby of Hawk engines, this featuring a clause that Aronow cannot build a deep Vee bottom till 1987.  Jacoby will sell Cigarette in 1984 to Jeffrey Friedman.  After the mid eighties Cigarette launches some important models still called as classics till today from the 35 CafĂ© Racer and the 38 Top Gun, this last selling 500 units as at year 2000 and as yet still in production.  The nineties will see Cigarette build the 42 Revolution 188 dedicated to its founding street, and 46 Rough Rider.  In 1994 CRT Inc founded by Bob Torter and Craig Barrie starts to head Cigarette.  In 1999 Cigarette introduces its first stepped hull this model will be the 38 Top Gun T/S.  In 2002 Cigarette is bought by Chicago businessman Skip Braver, who will sell in 2021 to John Ruiz and Lionheart Capital.  Today Cigarette builds a total of nine models divided into two lines; Performance Centre Console, and High Performance.  The smallest Cigarette is the long standing 38 Top Gun, with the flagship being the 59 Tirrana.  Cigarette new website takes you around with the following buttons; Boats, Our World, Store, and Contact.  Cigarette is also featured on social media on Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube with link located at the bottom of the page.

Project: Seanfinity Y-9 Fastexplorer

Seanfinity presents the Y-9 Fastexplorer, an innovative new super yacht project which comes following the success of the T-4, T-5, and the just launched R-4.  The Seanfinity Y-9 represents a new Y for Yacht range for the Italian builder, and at 27 meter will also mean a new important flagship.  Currently the largest Seanfinity is the T-5 at just under fifteen meters in length, and was launched in the fall of 2020.  The Seanfinity Y-9 Fastexplorer promises to have an innovative under water shape which can run at fast speeds but also efficient and seaworthy in displacement mode.  The co-owners of Seanfinity; Vincenzo Tuccio the engineer behind the Top System surface drives, and naval architect Gianluca Caputi previous owner of the Golfo and Italcraft brands are both forward thinking naval architects.  So far very few details are available on the Y-9, apart the above rendering which shows a raised pilot house design, some wide body details, and I would say the choice to have a forward main deck master stateroom.

Sportfish Cruiser Destroyed by Fire in Pittwater Sydney

A sportfish cruiser of eleven meters in length went ablaze in Morning Bay, Pittwater, Sydney, just after 08:00 morning time of Tuesday fifteen June.  The sportfish cruiser was reported to have two persons onboard, and was tied with two other boats, when an electrical fault is reported to have caused an onboard fire.  The two boaters evacuated the boat while the two nearby boats dropped the lines to avoid any damage.  NSW Police Marine Area Command and Rural Fire Service West Pittwater Brigade intervened for the blaze which ultimately saw the boat destroyed and semi-sunk.  Following this a Hazmat team from Fire and Rescue NSW Forestville Station was called to the scene to assist with securing booms around the vessel to prevent fuel leakage into the surrounding waterway. The cause of the fire is being investigated by NSW Police.
The sportfish boat in this fire is a Luhrs 41 Convertible as produced from 2004 up to 2009.  The 41 Convertible came out as a replacement to the bit bigger 44 Convertible and ultimately was not replaced as Luhrs went bankrupt in 2010.  A Luhrs return have been announced in 2012 and 2017 but so far none ever materialized.

Project: Viking 54 Sport Coupe

Viking presents the 54 Sport Coupe.  Part of the 54 series which now offers a total four different variants on the same hull, from the Open to the Converible. Accommodation is similar in the express sport yacht versions; Open, Sport Coupe, Sport Tower.  But it does differ from the convertible to optimize the design’s comfort and space.  The 54 Sport Coupe has the same three sided hard-top as the ST but without tower and any sportfishing amenities.  The Open, Sport Coupe and Sport Tower share cockpit and command deck layouts, providing an excellent use of space for fishing, diving, cruising and entertaining. The fourteen square meters cockpit boasts twin mezzanine seating with cooler storage below, easily converted into optional freezer space, along with drink coolers, in-deck fish and storage boxes, a transom live well and a transom door with lift gate. A single centreline lazarette hatch opens nearly 90 degrees for full viewability and access to the available gyro stabilization, as well as the steering, trim tabs and drain pumps. With its open aft bulkhead, the command deck gives you instant access to the cockpit. The centerline helm, with its pedestal seat on a raised platform, provides excellent visibility and is complemented by port double and starboard single companion seating. Three multi-function displays are flush mounted in a recessed black panel, contributing to the clean streamlined helm design. Aft of the helm, there is a convergence of practical and convenience features, including refrigeration and tackle and gear storage compartments. Plump cushions topping the port-side U-shape lounge, which surrounds a walnut table, will cradle your guests in comfort while providing ample height to take in the surroundings. To port, you’ll also find an L-shaped lounge with storage underneath.  Below, the important beam offers volumes of interior space including a choice of two or three cabins layouts. With either, the forward master stateroom is large and fitted with a queen-size bed, plenty of storage behind the horizontal grain walnut cabinetry and served with a private head. Additional staterooms are found on the port side, each with upper and lower berths. The head has private access in the two-stateroom layout, while guests share the head in the three-stateroom plan. Midship on the starboard side is a well-appointed galley with a full appliance package, walnut cabinetry, an engineered stone countertop and under-counter refrigeration/freezer units. Opposite the galley in the two-stateroom model is an L-shaped lounge and table. The three-stateroom version utilizes booth seating. The Viking 54 SC is standard powered by a pair of Man 1400hp, or optional 1550hp engines.

Motor Cruiser Burns Down in Trapani

A ten meter motor cruiser with thirteen persons onboard caught fire while being on charter on the morning of twelfth June, as it was cruising near Trapani, to the West of Sicily.  The ten meter cruiser was on charter duty navigating in Sicily to the South West of Trapani,  near the island of Formica when fire started coming out of the engine room.  A call for assistance was made, with military and the Guardia Costiera responding immediately and taking to safety the thirteen passengers including of which where three kids.  With the fire alarm on, the Italian Finance Police and Fire Fighters Squad went to the rescue of the motor cruiser, with little success and the boat succumbing to the flames and ultimately sinking.  The ten meter cruiser was chartered for an excursion to the popular Egadi islands, which never happened.
The boat in the fire is an Ars Mare RS 31, as designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced from 1995 till 1990.   The Ars Mare RS 31 was available in Flybridge or Sport version and was replaced by the more sportfish focused RS 33 ST in 1991.  Ars Mare was located in Livorno, and was co-founded by Luigi Prosperi, who is also known for having managed Mochi Craft from 1990 to 1996, and founded Cayman Yachts in 1990.  Ars Mare was sold to the Monaco Marine Group in the late nineties, changing the name to Ars Monaco after the sale.

New Model: Overmarine Mangusta 104 Rev

The first hull of the Mangusta 104 Rev, the innovative model representing the new era of Mangusta Maxi Open Line of super sport yachts, was launched the morning of 28th May. This is a super sport yacht that made the news even before hitting the water; indeed, the 104 Rev was moved to the launch venue at night, driving through the narrow streets of Viareggio and stirring the curiosity of many locals, who thus had the privilege of getting a preview of the first hull in the new Open line.  The Mangusta 104 Rev is a revolutionary yacht, currently the entry level in the iconic Maxi Open range, in which Overmarine has been an undisputed leader for over 35 years, with more than three hundred yachts built in this timespan. Thanks to the joint work of the Group’s Engineering Department and designer Igor Lobanov, this vessel’s sporty and slender lines preserve the Mangusta DNA, but reinterpret it in a modern key.  Hull one has been sold to an American client, who was charmed by the new Maxi Open range; a success proving that the American market is increasingly thriving and keeps an eye on the innovations introduced in the Mangusta fleet. All Group lines including the latest models, are now represented overseas.  Other distinctive elements on this cruiser are the wide glass surfaces flawlessly integrated in her powerfully aggressive profile; a true engineering masterpiece. These see-through surfaces result in outstanding visibility while also allowing the vessel to be classified in the BV and MCA classes for commercial registration.  Light pervades all interiors, not only on the main deck; where the cosy, sophisticated salon is surrounded by ceiling-high windows but also on the lower deck, which can accommodate up to ten guests in four cabins; full-beam master stateroom, a VIP cabin, and two guest cabins.  As is the case on each and every Mangusta yacht, the exteriors and interiors form a smooth, harmonious continuum, maximising the concept of lifestyle meant as an unforgettable onboard life experience. The owners and their guests will be able to enjoy maximum relaxation and privacy in the many areas available onboard, including among others the comfortable sunbathing area, located forward, and the sundeck, which is seamlessly integrated in the profile and unravels around the radar arch, resulting in an essential, assertive look. The sundeck consists of a relaxation area furnished with a comfy U-shaped sofa and the second pilot station.  The aft cockpit door opens completely, connecting the salon to the exteriors to create a dining area where guests can indulge in pleasant convivial moments. Hidden behind the stylish aft door, the garage can fit a tender up to five metres and a 3-seat jet-ski.  The Mangusta 104 Rev comes with twin MTU with waterjet propulsion, pushing her to a maximum speed of 35 knots, noiselessly and without the slightest vibrations. At the cruising speed of 25 knots, the yacht can boast a range of 370 nautical miles. Seakeeper gyro stabilizers allow her to deliver impressive performances and comfort both when cruising, even in choppy seas, and at anchor.  Hull one is to be delivered to her owner by the end of July. The next, available for sale, is scheduled for delivery in summer 2022.

Project: Pershing 6X

Pershing present the 6X project.  A restyling of the successful 62 model which the company launched in 2013.  The 62 is one of the most successful Pershing's, and was also itself a development of a model which born in 2005 as 56 model, then developed as 58 in 2010, 62 and now in 2021 redefines itself as the 6X.  The 56 was also a hot seller selling seventy units in a production run of five years, making it the second best sold Pershing ever behind the 50/50.1 model.  The Pershing 6X  expresses the boldest and most daring side of the brand’s character, the side that always appeals to people who love excitement on the water. Compact but in no way incomplete, it packs all the best of the brand’s leading-edge technology into a compact form factor. As all Pershing since 1985 the 6X is again a design of Fulvio de Simoni, with the Ferretti Group engineering doing the naval architecture and the rest.   Pershing 6X has an eye-catchingly sleek and streamlined appearance, with exterior styling that shares the same family feeling as the other Generation X models. The new yacht turns heads with its highly aerodynamic profile and large glazed surfaces in the hull that flood the lower deck with natural light.  The main novelties include style features that clearly reflect Pershing’s approach to design in recent years, further improving functional and comfort-related design goals without affecting outstanding performance. They include the new styling of the big aft sun pad, the carbon and teak table in the cockpit dining area, and the chaise longue with reclining backrest positioned forward.  The 6X though is the most conservative of all X and the only one not featuring the wings which join the top of the hard-top with that of the shipside, a feature Pershing introduced with the 70 in 2014.  An important new feature on the main deck is the helm station, made up of a dashboard with two 19-inch monitors, carbon fibre control panels and an electro-hydraulic steering system. Also available is an innovative joystick coupled to the surface drive with various advanced operating modes, including ‘easy handling’ for ground-breaking manoeuvrability in ports and confined waters. A large sunroof opens over the dashboard to take cruising enjoyment to the next level.  The first Pershing 6X unit has a layout with three cabins - owner, forward VIP and starboard guest - and three bathrooms with separate shower. The guest bathroom, which can be entered both from the cabin and the lobby on the mezzanine, also acts as day toilet. On the left side of the hull is the galley, strategically positioned to benefit from various sources of natural light, including a ceiling window. The version for the American market has two cabins; owner and VIP with a living space replacing the guest cabin.  Both versions have a crew cabin entered from the cockpit, with a single bed and integrated bathroom.  Among the other novel features are new rectangular portholes that look even more like real windows.  The materials used for the interiors of the new 6X are in perfect Pershing style, with extensive use of plain and lacquered wood for the furniture, parquet floors, Mastrotto and Poltrona Frau leathers, and mirrored panels in the owner’s cabin. The lighting system features new horizontal LED bars in the ceiling that match the decor based on alternating smooth and undulated surfaces.  Pershing 6X confirms the outstanding performance standards set by the brand since the end nineties with a top speed of almost 48 knots and a cruising of about 42 knots, with a pair of twin Man 1550hp.

Becoming Too Exclusive

It is a pity to see in recent years Magnum Marine being mostly a service yard in Florida.  What used to be the most exclusive name in the Nautical World is now renowned mostly as a legend.  Yes Magnum still builds a boat a year, and the company has also launched the Sport 27 model a couple months ago.  But this is far away from the successes of the past, where with the 53 model the company sold over fifty units and till the end of the nineties was among the most sold sport yacht above fifteen meters.

So what went wrong with Magnum in the last decade or shall we say two decades.  I think one of the biggest mistakes is that Magnum has become to difficult in selling boats and has outpriced itself out of the market.  Yes a high end boat like Magnum cannot be cheap, and it is fair for it to be priced at the top end of the price range.  It is also normal for it to be a very exclusive product for the few.  But sometimes in all these things one has to strike a balance.

We can look at the rise of custom high end sports fisherman in the last two decades; Bayliss, Jarrett Bay, Spencer, all with nice order books of three to five boats a year.  Are they priced competitive? Yes, compared to themselves but still more expensive to that of a production sportfish yacht.  A mirror  success is that of Italian builder Otam.  Otam strikes directly at Magnum as it is a direct competitive product, which has been doing very well. Consider that Otam has sold six of its 80 model, including the custom 85 GTS off shot from the same hull.  Magnum has sold only two, of its 80 with the first delivered in 2000 and the second in 2008.  I think the preparation of the Italian yard in actually serving the client for his custom yacht is one of the reason of the success.  Also Otam is not afraid to search in other market segments as for example they did with the SD35 in 2016.  Of the performance orientated yard only Alfamarine did something similar in 2003 when they delivered the fully custom 140.

To be fair Magnum was not afraid to offer different products in the past and the 35, 38, and 40 used to be offered in flybridge and sportfish versions, and the 53 was also delivered in a couple custom flybridge units as well.

Magnum is trying to relaunch itself in recent months, a dealer overhaul has just happened and the company has finally launched the long announced Sport 27 model.  A second unit with outboard power is reported under construction, and a plan for an electric power zero emissions version are in advanced stages.  The company has also showed plans for a fully outboard powered 44 Banzai model.  With the 27 Magnum seems to be more looking at its early Don Aronow past, rather the Theodoli one of high end offshore sport cruisers and yachts.  Question comes automatic if this is the direction Magnum should really take.

Canados Nearly Sinks in Castellammare di Stabia

A 25 meter Canados super yacht hit a reef outside Castellammare di Stabia, to the South of the Gulf of Naples on the early afternoon of 30th May.  No one was injured in the accident, the Canados super yacht was lucky to have find assistance and was later towed to a shipyard for repairs.  The damage is reported to be of minimum average entity, though the 2021 season might have to be called off for the yacht.  The towage operation involved a big barge with crane and a tug boat on the same day, and was completed on late evening.
The Canados in this accident is an 86, a project of Marine Technology Services and produced from 2004 to 2017 in 46 units.  The Canados 86 was born from the 80S, which was the first unit of this semi-custom motor yacht series. The Canados 86 came out as a replacement to the 25 and was replaced by the 88 Evolution.

Viking Wins Marlin Madness

Congratulations to the Viking 55 Walk West on their win in Marlin magazine’s Marlin Madness. Owned by Riley Rhodes, the Viking earned their spot in the mix for their 2020 Texas Legends Billfish Tournament win. With captain Raleigh Morrison at the wheel, Justin Waight landed a record-breaking 737-pound blue marlin – the largest to ever be weighed in Port Aransas. “It was epic and euphoric,” Riley said. “We knew it was a big fish, but we didn’t know it was that big.” Great job to all the teams that competed and thanks to all of you for voting Viking to the top spot!

Viking at Louisiana Gulf Coast Billfish Classic

Viking went one, two and three at the recent Louisiana Gulf Coast Billfish Classic. The Viking 61 Devotion, above, released four blue marlin to win the Top Release Boat division. In Skip Smith’s The Shootout – Production vs Custom, anglers on Bob Genord’s Viking 80 Miss Victoria released five blue marlin, seven whites and a sailfish to claim Top Billfish Release Boat. Colton Resor released eight of those fish for the Top Angler honor. Gioncarlo Ratti, fishing on Ricardo Cilloniz’s Viking 72 Anakalea, weighed the 2nd Largest Blue Marlin. The Heaviest Mahi went to Viking 62 Reel Life angler Mike Espinosa with a 34.2-pound fish. The Abaco-based invitational tournament saw 142 billfish releases in three days of fishing.

Wally Supports Maxi Racing in Portofino

All eyes in the sailing world turned to the Italian Riviera last week, where the Regate di Primavera – Splendido Mare Cup marked the explosive return of Maxi racing to the Med. Held in the sheltered waters of the Gulf of Tigullio from 5 to 9 May, the invitation-only event gathered some of the world’s most prestigious sailing yachts.  And none more so than the towering elegance of the Wally fleet, which was represented in style at this year’s event. Kauris II (24.31m) and Ryokan 2 (24m winner of the coveted Compasso d’Oro International design award) showcased the yard’s enduring aesthetic appeal and evergreen design, where clean lines, perfect proportions and performance all combine to create emotions that only Wallys can.  «Now more than ever, people are appreciating the value of owning a yacht. We fully expect to see an exciting rebound in regattas as those who love to sail return to the water,» says Wally Managing Director Stefano de Vivo. «For us as a brand, it is key to support regattas such as the Regate di Primavera - Splendido Mare Cup and foster growth for the future. Having delivered a new 145-footer at the height of the pandemic and recently signed a contract to build a stunning 101-footer for a loyal client, I am delighted to say that the Wally family keeps getting bigger.» «Around the cans off Portofino, variable conditions prevailed. Seas ran quite high at times, while the wind went from flat calm to gusty and back again. It made for some classic racing and some memorable moments, » says Wally Founder and Wally Class President Luca Bassani. «The two Wallys were never far off the pace, and provided an unforgettable spectacle finishing close in under the lighthouse at Portofino. After a year without Maxi yacht racing, owners are understandably enthusiastic to relaunch the Med regatta circuit. Wally is delighted to be supporting Wally owners and Wally Class members this summer to participate in some of the world’s most prestigious events.»  VIP guests and visitors enjoyed another treat courtesy of Wally at this year’s event. The yard’s hugely successful Wallytender series were on hand to transport VIPs in ultimate style. Both the 43wallytender and 48wallytender served as courtesy vessels, standing out with their avant-garde design, immaculate handling and uncompromising luxury. It set the tone for a week where elegance on the water was only matched by the warmth of the Corinthian spirit on shore. Now known as the Regate di Primavera - Splendido Mare Cup, the event has been running almost non-stop since 1980 against the backdrop of the town known as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean”. Last year naturally saw a hiatus due to the pandemic, but Wally owners have been eager to restart racing and are supporting this year’s maxi events.  Wally is also doing its bit to bring these magnificent yachts back to the race course with the return of the exclusive Wally Class. Counting among its number some of the most iconic sailing yachts of the last four decades, the Wally Class fleet runs from 24 to over 50 meters in length and includes some breathtaking recent deliveries that define the state of the art in performance, interior fit out and sheer flair.  Wally Class events will unfurl majestically over the course of the next six months. Following the Regate di Primavera - Splendido Mare Cup in Portofino, Wally owners can look forward to the Loro Piana Super Yacht Regatta in Porto Cervo (1-5 June); the Giraglia Rolex Cup (16-19 June); the Superyacht Cup in Palma de Mallorca (23-26 June); the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo (5-11 September); and the unmissable Voiles de St Tropez to close the season from 4-9 October.

Five Yachts Destroyed at Marina Kastela Fire in Croatia

A huge fire broke out in Marina Kastela, to the North West of Split, in Croatia on Saturday 29th May 2021 around 2140 hours.  The fire broke out apparently on a 22 meter motor yacht, and then went on to the other nearby and opposite yachts.  The result is that five boats have been totalled, and eighteen have been damaged.  Fire fighters from Kastela, Split, and Solin spent up to the following morning controlling and reducing the fire.  Only one person had minor injuries which considering the time of the accident and the period in the season it could have been much worse.
The yachts involved in the accident seems to be a Fipa Maiora 24S, Sunseeker 72 Predator, and a Ferretti 760.  We still do not know the full dynamics of the accident but some Croatia news are reporting it all started from a galley fire.

Project: Cantiere delle Marche Flexplorer 142

Cantiere delle Marche is glad to announce the sale of another yacht of the Flexplorer line: a Flexplorer 142 has been sold to a young and enthusiast German owner, a keen sailor, who has previously owned several sailing and motor yachts. The Hydro Tec bold exterior design will be completed with refined interiors by Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini. The owner’s wishes and lifestyle match with Paszkowski’s approach and impeccable poise and the yacht will feature top-end characteristics in terms of functionality and style. As the Flexplorer 130 Aurelia, the 142 features an asymmetrical layout on the main deck. The asymmetry consists in a full beam configuration to starboard which adds square metres to the salon while leaving a useful passageway to port side. For the records, the asymmetrical layout is not something invented in these last years: it actually made its first appearance on Camaleon B a 43m custom yacht designed by Paolo Caliari and his ‘pupil’ Sergio Cutolo in 2002, followed by 53m Leo Fun and Vinydrea. The owner and his family have great plans to fully enjoy their new yacht: they will be firstly exploring many destinations around the Med, after which eventually they will be heading to the Northern latitudes to cross the Northwest Passage. The Passage has been a byword for mystery and endeavour but in recent decades the ice cover retreated and during just a few weeks in Summer it became possible to pass through. The crossing, however, still bears the risk to run into ice floes and a very robust hull is highly recommended. This is why the Flexplorer 142 hull will feature, among other technical upgrades an ice-belt of 22mm steel plates 400 mm above and below the waterline.  Flexplorer 142 will also feature other special features from the A-frame crane that when not used fits flush in the deck and is unseen,  collapsible bulwarks that extend to the further reach of the cockpit, two spaces for two eight meter special tenders on the aft deck, and Infinity pool on the transom.  Cantiere delle Marche Flexplorer 142 will feature six guest cabins, including two owner stateroom one on the forward part of the main deck, and another on the upper deck.  Flexplorer 142 is to be powered by twin MTU 1200hp which give her a top speed up to fourteen knots and a range up to five thousand nautical miles.

Beneteau Sport Cruiser Collides into Trawler

A Beneteau sport cruiser of thirteen meters in length collided into a trawler in Maruggio to the South East of the coast of Taranto, Italy on the morning of Saturday 29th May.  No one was hurt in the accident with the trawler vessel showing some damage to its stern port side area.  The local coast guard was called, but only to fill the claims for the damage as the sport cruiser managed to free itself by engaging astern.  In the initial declaration the sport cruiser helmsman declared of not seeing the fifteen meter trawler vessel hence he collided into it.  With the damage shown the sport cruiser was going at medium displacement speeds.
The Beneteau sport cruiser in the accident is a Monte Carlo 42 as designed by Andreanni and produced from 2009 till 2011.  The Monte Carlo 42 was replaced by the Flyer 44 Gran Turismo, what is a soft evolution of the same model.

Man Killed in Boat Collision Near Portisco, Sardinia

On Saturday 29th May late morning time at 1130 hours a Tiara sportfish cruiser of twelve meters in length collided on a sailing yacht, killing the 69 year old skipper and owner of the sail craft, and leaving in shock his wife.  In the impact the 69 year old Alberto was hit and later thrown in the water and cut by the propellers.  The accident happened in a location between Portisco and Porto Cervo, half a mile away from the coast, in the famous and busy in this time of the year Esmerald coast.  Nothing happened to the four crew members of the sportfish cruiser, who where later interrogated by the Olbia police.
The sportfish cruiser in the collision is a Tiara 3600 Open as produced from 2004 and 2009. Princess Flybridge Cruiser Aground in River

A twelve meter Princess flybridge motor cruiser with three persons onboard ran aground on the 28th May 2021 in the Caloosahatchee River, Florida, USA.  Assistance was immediately provided by TowBoatUS Lake Okeechobee who upon arrival noticed the three persons suffering injuries.  The TowBoatUS captain took the passengers immediately to a nearby marina for medical assistance.  Salvage operation started the same day and took 24 hours to complete.  Cause of the accident for this Princess flybridge cruiser are unknown.
The Princess in this collision is a 420 as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 1994 to 1996.  The Princess 420 came out as a replacement to the 410, with the model evolving and replaced by the 430, which was the same model with the addition of an extended bathing platform with tender stowage space.

Two abandoned yachts, a sportfish yacht of about fifty feet and a seventy foot sport yacht went ablaze at a marina located in Little Havana between Northwest 22nd Avenue and 14th Street, Miami river at 02:30 hours of the morning of Thursday 27 May.  City of Miami Fire Rescue responded to the fire with seventeen units, fighting the blaze from both the bridge and on the water with a fire-boat, what took about an hour to extinguish.  Both yachts where reported as being unattended. At some point the fire was reported as rising to about a height of over twenty meters.  The two abandoned yachts are reported to be of the same ownership, and had been devoid of fuel and most mechanical items as were scheduled to be scrapped.  The marina where the yachts are located is also reported to close down in about a months time, with an investigation for the cause of the fire being made.
The yachts in this fire are both timeless classics.  The seventy foot sport yacht is the Paolo Caliari designed Arno Leopard Sport 21.50 produced from 1989 to 96 in about forty units.  The sportfish yacht looks to be the Napier designed never getting old Bertram 54, as produced from 1981 to 2002 selling 177 units in two versions updated in 1996.

Van Dutch Sport Yacht Beached in Melito Porto Salvo

A sixteen meter VanDutch sport yacht ended beached in Melito, Porto Salvo on the South of the Calabria region in Italy, on the early afternoon of 26th May. In the accident the two British nationals onboard, a captain and a crew member ended in hospital with the captain having mild injuries to his back.  The VanDutch was being delivered to Greece, when the boat had some faults in its control systems.  Thankfully this accident happened in what is still off season as the consequences to a crowded beach could have been much worse.
The boat in the accident is a VanDutch 55, the current flagship of the Dutch company. Designed as all VanDutch by Frank Mulder, the 55 is a modern open sport yacht with hints to traditionalism, see flush deck and straight as the horizon shear line.

Project: CL Yachts CLB65

Cheoy Lee present the project of the CLB65, a twenty meter motor yacht designed inhouse with naval architecture by Howard Apollonio, and interior design by Carmen.  Carmen will be on her second Cheoy Lee having designed the CLB72. The CLB65 will feature a resin-infused composite hull, with strategic use of carbon fibre, in order to reduce weight and add stiffness.  The CLB65 presents itself with modern conservative design complemented by interiors who celebrate comfort in style.  The motor yacht will offer four different lounging areas; foredeck, fly lounge, aft lounge, and beach platform.  Accommodation layout is for three cabins, with a crew cabin aft.  The galley is located astern to port side, which along with the large patio door bring the outside in.  Hull one of the CLB65 is to be launched in fourth quarter 2021, and is to be powered by twin Volvo 800hp with IPS1050 pod drives, with electric fin stabilisers and a light and airy interior design scheme.  This motor yacht will feature RINA Hull Certification and can be CE certified upon request.
