Project: Fratelli Aprea Lancia 52

Fratelli Aprea present the project for the Lancia 52, a walk around Gozzo inspired yacht of sixteen meters in length, with design coming from Brunello Acampora's Victory design. The Lancia 52 follows what other traditional gozzo builders have pioneered in recent years, most notably Apreamare and Mimi, for a walk around centre console traditional yacht suited for day cruisers with bow to stern exterior spaces.  Brunello Acampora design was a pioneer in this style when he designed the 11m Gozzo for Apreamare in 2017, although the next versions of the models by Marco Casali proved more a point where the design should go. Previous to this model Fratelli Aprea was the most traditional of the production gozzo builders, with current builds of seven to fifteen meters having an abundant flair which can compete with that of Eastern Carolina sportfish custom builders.  From the renderings visible so far the flair on the Lancia 52 seems less dramatic.  The Lancia Aprea 52 will feature three propulsion choices from traditional line shafts, Volvo IPS pod drives, and quadruple Mercury 600hp outboards with this last option showing the Italian Sorrento builder also looking at the expansive North American market.

New Model: Vicem 65 Classic Flybridge

Turkish boatbuilder Vicem Yachts has a new addition to its strong fleet of cruisers and yachts with the new 65 Classic Flybridge going into the water. The Vicem 65 Classic Flybridge prides itself on a timeless design inspired to DownEast lobster boats, total customization from construction in fiberglass or cold moulding and shafts or IPS pod propulsion, and excellence in craftsmanship. Those three characteristics run throughout its fleet, but perhaps nowhere are they more evident than aboard this new 65 Classic Flybridge.  This twenty meter Vicem offers an accommodation with two plus one stateroom layout, with an owners amidships master stateroom anda VIP suite forward.  In between the two suites is a galley and a dining/lounge room, with this dinette converting into an enclosed third cabin complete with sliding doors for privacy.  The Vicem 65 Classic Flybridge main deck has a massive, full-teak cockpit with an L-shaped settee and a second dining table for alfresco dinners. The salon has another L-shaped settee, plus additional seating, and excellent natural light thanks to large windows. The two spaces are connected via a door with a frameless, electric window that creates a feeling of openness and continuity. An aft galley in the salon has a small bar area with a sink, icebox, and icemaker that services two alfresco Besenzoni bar stools. Throughout all of these areas, Vicem’s trademark woodwork is on display. The builder relies on years of Turkish craftsmanship to produce beautifully appointed woods which are hard to find in the industry.  As for the boat’s namesake flybridge, there is a wetbar and barbecue, a third L-shaped settee, which can convert into a sunpad and the second outdoor helm.  The first Vicem 65 Classic Flybridge was powered by twin Volvo 725hp with line shaft propulsion which give a twenty knots top speed, though bigger 1000hp engines fitted IPS pod drives will take wide open throttle speeds to 32 knots.  Another feature of this hull #one is a Lithium battery set up which can operate the boat for fifteen hours with the use of generator.

New Model: Zeelander 5

Zeelander debuted its new 5 model duing the 2023 Palm Beach boat show held at the end of March at Palm Harbor Marina. The new Zeelander 5 is a natural evolution of the Z44, although this is not just redesign and hull extension as the 5 apart presenting a more contemporary look is also about a meter longer and thirty centimetres wider. The curvaceous Zeelander silhouette is still instantly recognisable, but compared to the Z44, the shearline is more voluptuous than ever, and now follows an elongated ‘S’ shape. The traditional yacht features bigger windows in the wheelhouse and in the hull. Zeelander has succeeded in eliminating mullions altogether around the helm, for true, unencumbered 360-degree vision. The beautifully sculpted wheelhouse can now be fully enclosed with a door and window, or opened up to a refreshing breeze, making her as suitable for cool climates as for warm. The Zeelander 5 offers effortless boarding through doors in the bulwarks, a new sun-pad on the foredeck, and a bathing platform that is almost twice as big compared to the Z44. The extra one meter of hull length has been put to striking effect in the generous master cabin, with its separate shower and head. Peerless interior styling of the yacht can be fully personalised or owners can choose from four carefully curated moodboards. The Zeelander 5 has a maximum speed of forty knots courtesy of three Volvo Penta 480hp with IPS drives propulsion and at the same time manages to be 2dBA quieter than its predecessor.

Project: Boston Boatworks 52 Offshore Express Cruiser

Twenty-seven years after Boston Boatworks launched its first high-performance, technology-forward racing sailboat, the company announces the development of the 52 Offshore Express Cruiser. As exciting as this project is for the entire team, the genesis of the yacht stays true to the company’s original objectives of integrating composite engineering, high-strength construction, and artisanal workmanship, scaled to limited-production efficiencies.  For the BB52, the builder partnered with venerable yacht designer Doug Zurn and renowned interior design firm Winch Design. While the industry has long known Boston Boatworks for their construction expertise, building over 350 advanced composite performance yachts, including MJMs and grand-prix racing sailboats, as well as expedition tenders and Coast Guard Certified passenger vessels this will be the company’s first model that fully represents their vision and passion for providing owner-operator high-quality offshore yacht under its own name. The seventeen meter express cruiser takes advantage of Boston Boatworks efficiencies as a limited-run manufacturer of series yachts, softening the lines between a production boat and a semi-custom project with prospective owners able to choose from several selections of interior configurations and finishes developed by Winch Design that cater to a wide range of functions, all of which incorporate a multitude of elegant and clever features to enhance the time on board.  The 52 Offshore Express Cruiser also continues the long-standing collaboration between Boston Boatworks and Doug Zurn.  The BB52 is for owners who appreciate a relentless pursuit of quality and those who understand why the entire build needs to be strong to be safe; who recognize that lighter-weight interiors yield spatial and fuel efficiencies; who demand that the boat’s handling be intuitive; and who take pride in the athletic look of their yacht and the gracefulness of its interior. The Boston Boatworks 52 Offshore Express Cruiser will offer an interior with a one or two cabins two head layout choice, with another option coming to have a galley up or down on the lower deck.  The Boston Boatworks 52 Offshore Express Cruiser is to be powered by triple Volvo 440hp and surprisingly for its size will use stern drive propulsion which will give an estimated top speed up to forty knots.

Improve-it = Palm Beach 70

In January 2023 Palm Beach commissioned a first 70 model with extended bridge.  Unlike previous 70 with flybridge this new version of Palm Beach flagship model features an extended fiberglass bridge deck, adding space to the flybridge, and covering the aft deck with a rigid protection.  This area on previous PB70 was usually extended with an awning, in order to cover the aft deck from the sun.  The 70 is the current flagship from Palm Beach, and is offered in Sedan and or Flybridge versions.  Other options in the Palm Beach 70 are that for an upper or lower galley, and two or three double guest cabins layouts, plus a crew cabin at midships.  The Palm Beach 70 is powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives or line shaft propulsion.  Palm Beach are renowned for being super efficient thanks to a unique hull shape design, and light weight construction, and the 70 is a confirmation of this consuming just under two hundred litres an hour at 25 knots, which equals to eight litres per nautical miles at that speed, with Volvo 1000hp and IPS pod propulsion combination. That surely makes it one of the most economic 21 meter yacht on the market today.

New Model: Grand Banks Eastbay 60

Grand Banks presents the new Eastbay 60, the largest boat to date in its EB down East lobster boat line here pictured in its first sea trials.  The Eastbay 60 was announced as a project in 2021, and going against recent trends will measure over twenty meters in over-all length, a whooping two meters more to its model designation of sixty feet.  The Eastbay 60 follows what the down East lobster boat inspired range from Grand Banks has done since 1993 after the first 38 Ex and nineteen models later; traditional lines, excellent seakeeping, and interiors valuing comfort over cabin numbers.  An evolution of a classic the Eastbay 60 flagship sets new high standards for its bigger size, and adds the efficiency of the Vee warped hull as evolved by Mark Richards.  After 29 years of C. Raymond Hunt hull design the 60 is the first Eastbay with Mark Richards trademark hull design, following the Grand Banks 60, 54, and 85 of the explorer yachts range.  In the accommodation the Eastbay 60 offers a living on the main deck with an astern galley layout, with three double cabins having an owners stateroom located to port side at midships, a VIP forward, and guest third cabin with an L-shaped layout offering two singe berths below deck.  Grand Banks also offers a lower deck galley two cabin layout with opposite saloon, and owners stateroom moving forward. The Grand Banks Eastbay 60 is powered by twin Volvo 725hp as standard, with optional 900hp or 1000hp with IPS pod drives or shaft line propulsion.  Because of the performance of the standard engine of just thirty knots it is believed that this is only offered with IPS pod drives, while the optional larger engines can be offered with line shaft propulsion.  Hull one is fitted with twin Volvo 900hp and IPS pod drives and has reached 33 knots of top speeds and a 27 of fast cruise.

Project: Moonride Yachts 58 Ibiza

Following the success of the Moonride 58 Fly, first unit launched in the fall of 2021 with four units reported sold and under construction, the Italian builder presents the 58 Ibiza variant.  Based on the 58 Fly in everything and all but with an opening hard top replacing the flybridge.  The Moonride 58 Ibiza should offer little differences in technical details, from an interior with three double cabins, and Volvo 725hp with IPS pod drives powering the boat, up to a 37 knots of top speed.
