Azimut-Benetti Group Adopts Sea Index

The Azimut|Benetti Group and Sea Index® are pleased to announce a landmark agreement to reduce carbon emissions in the yachting industry.  As part of the agreement, the Superyacht Eco Association will support Azimut|Benetti Group in adopting its flagship SEA Index CO2 Emissions Rating tool for yachts over 24 metres. This will be deployed by Azimut|Benetti Group’s R&D Team as an eco-design tool to enhance the sustainability of its fleet.  Applicable to both fully custom and semi-custom yachts >24m, the Sea Index CO2 Emissions Rating tool delivers accurate, unbiased and third-party verified emissions data. In addition to being used by yacht owners to assess the energy intensity of their vessels, the Sea Index framework can be integrated into the concept phase of new-build yachts to support eco-conscious boat design and construction.  "We are thrilled to partner with Sea Index to reinforce our commitment to sustainable yacht design by validating our yachts' emission targets through Sea Index’s rigorous framework. Achieved through advanced naval architecture and cutting-edge technologies, these targets reflect our dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility. Furthermore, we believe this collaboration will encourage greater transparency in data sharing, fostering a more conscious approach among industry players and yacht owners alike,” states Alessandro Rossi, Chief Product Officer Azimut|Benetti Group.  This initiative marks the next chapter in the partnership between Azimut|Benetti Group and SEA Index, following the 2023 announcement of the upcoming adoption of the Carbon Emission Index for yachts under 24 meters, developed by Lloyd’s Register at the drive of Azimut|Benetti Group. This innovative formula is designed to accurately assess and rate the carbon footprint of <24m yachts, involving the most widespread category of yachts in our seas.  “We are delighted to collaborate with Azimut|Benetti Group on this important initiative. It is encouraging to see esteemed industry leaders embracing the Sea Index CO2 Emissions Rating tool to prioritise sustainability from the outset. Similarly, we look forward to incorporating Azimut’s formula for measuring carbon emissions of yachts under 24 metres into the SEA Index ecosystem. Together, we can drive meaningful change in the industry and empower yachting stakeholders to embrace a more sustainable future”, comments Natalie Quevert, Project Lead, Sea  Index.

Bayliss January Tournaments News

Bayliss Boatworks teams have kicked off the year with impressive results at two prominent billfish tournaments. Mama Seata (Hull 5/Bayliss 64') and Catch 23 (Bayliss 82') delivered outstanding performances at the Pelagic Rockstar Offshore Billfish Tournament, while six Bayliss builds showcased their talent during Leg 1 of the Signature Triple Crown.  At the Rockstar tournament, Mama Seata had an incredible run, releasing 62 billfish—2 blue marlin and 60 sailfish—which earned them 3rd place overall. Over two days of competition, the team racked up 6,600 points and secured 2nd place finishes in both the Sonar 20K Billfish Release and Sonar 3K Billfish Release Overall divisions.  Catch 23 also delivered an impressive performance, claiming the daily win in all marlin divisions on Day 1 after releasing two blue marlin. By the tournament’s conclusion, the team had released 36 billfish, including 2 blue marlin, 1 black marlin, and 33 sailfish.  In late January, the prestigious Signature Triple Crown billfish tournament kicked off, with Mama Seata carrying momentum into Leg 1. The team finished 5th on Day 1, 2nd on Day 3, and 5th overall, releasing 65 sailfish and 3 marlin over three days for a total of 8,000 points. Additionally, Tarheel and Catch 23 also made their mark, taking 4th and 5th place for the daily, respectively, on Day 3.  This exceptional representation of Bayliss Boatworks is a testament to the skill and dedication of the crews and the craftsmanship of the vessels. Congratulations to Mama Seata, Catch 23, and all Bayliss teams for their hard work and accomplishments. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store!

Bavaria Showroom Weekend

On the first weekend in February, Bavaria Yachts in Giebelstadt and more than twenty Bavaria Yachts dealers worldwide opened their doors for the International Bavaria Yachts Showroom Weekend.  More than 200 customers and owners accepted the invitation to the shipyard near Würzburg. In addition to the presentation of the new Bavaria SR35 Open Top and Bavaria Vida motorboats, Bavaria also showed it’s new hardtop for the C46 for the first time. Right on time on Saturday 1st February at 10 am, the first cars arrived in front of the Yachten Meltl showroom in Bernau.  The Saal Marina at the Danube, Bavaria Norge in Oslo, Evasion in the south of France and all other participating dealers reported a full house on Saturday. At the Bavaria shipyard, many customers had already been given a tour of the production facilities on Friday and by the weekend it was really crowded. Over 200 guests were counted by Sunday evening. In addition to the shipyard itself, visitors focused on the sailing and motor boats on display in the showroom.  Bavaria presented the Vida with a new cockpit layout and new Suzuki engines for the first time. The Vida has also changed a lot below deck. In the layout with a large sun lounger on the foredeck, the berth in the cabin has grown to 2.10 metres in length and over 2 metres in width.  In addition to the classic hardtop version, Bavaria is starting the new year with an Open Top version of its successful SR35. A lowered windscreen gives the Bavaria SR35 a real open feeling and therefore even more driving pleasure.  “In cooperation with our dealers in Europe and North America, the International Bavaria Yachts Showroom Weekend was a complete success that we will certainly repeat. When else do you have the opportunity to talk to customers in a relaxed atmosphere and clarify specific questions directly on the boat,” reports Bavaria Yachts CEO Michael Müller.  But before a new Showroom Weekend is planned, Bavaria Yachts and its dealer network have the spring boat shows in Tulln, St. Malo and Neustadt, for example, and a trial sail for customers of Yachts Meltl in Croatia at the beginning of April on the agenda.

Bavaria Expands Service Network

Bavaria Yachts is further expanding its service network for Bavaria owners in the Mediterranean area.  Pitter Yachtcharter in Biograd has now become a new base in Croatia and an authorised Bavaria Service Partner. Pitter Yachtcharter just opened its new dry dock marina not far from the harbour in Biograd at the beginning of the year.  In addition to its international dealer network, Bavaria is further expanding its service network for customers in the Mediterranean. The aim is to provide Bavaria owners with additional service partners who are not only authorised by Bavaria Yachts to carry out all work on a Bavaria, from simple maintenance and repair work to warranty services, but who can also offer all standard spare parts on site. The authorised Bavaria Yachts service partners are trained by Bavaria and are in constant contact with the shipyard's experts.  Pitter Yachtcharter, known to many customers for its large charter fleet of Bavaria yachts in Croatia and the Mediterranean, is now the latest authorised Bavaria Yachts service partner. Based in Biograd, not only for Croatia but for the entire Adriatic region, Pitter is the point of contact for all owners of Bavaria Yachts. The brand-new dry dock marina in the immediate vicinity of Marina Biograd has just been opened by the Pitter team at the beginning of the year.  The dry dock marina extends over 14,000 square metres and offers 80 dry dock berths for boats and yachts up to 10 metres in length. Pitter's experienced team of technicians offers a wide range of services, from regular maintenance to complex repairs or a complete refit.  ‘Our aim is to offer Bavaria owners a dense service network with first-class partners - the cooperation with Pitter Yachtcharter is another important step in this direction,’ explains Dominik Hart, Head of Customer Service and Quality at Bavaria Yachts.

Benetti Yachtmaster 2025

At its annual gathering for captains, surveyors, owner representatives and industry experts, Benetti reaffirms its leadership in innovation and design by presenting the latest products and sustainable technologies from the company’s Design and Research & Development departments and the new customer service through to after-sales. Devised and launched with great passion and foresight by Azimut|Benetti Group founder Paolo Vitelli in 2000, the Benetti Yachtmaster has this year reached its 25th edition, held in the splendid setting of the Fairmont Royal Palm Hotel in Marrakesh from February 12 to 14. With over 200 guests, the two-day event was organized for major international industry players, captains, surveyors and owner representatives to share their experiences. Day 1 was devoted entirely to an innovative coaching session based on a Serious Game. Sitting around a table, groups of 10 people used ‘conversation cards’ as a dynamic tool to stimulate discussion around the most relevant work issues. In a collective brainstorming session, participants shared ideas and solutions to identify areas for improvement guided by three key principles: communication, collaboration and connection. The goal was to foster an open, constructive dialogue, promoting innovative strategies to strengthen relationships between colleagues and improve overall efficiency. Day 2 was an opportunity for all the participants to get a closer look at Benetti’s vision of the future in terms of innovation and design, sustainability and assistance, with the contribution of the Group’s refit division Lusben. Azimut|Benetti Group CEO Marco Valle opened this plenary session by celebrating, in this particularly significant year for the Shipyard, the Yachtmaster’s first quarter of a century and its profound significance for relationships with stakeholders. He also underscored the Group’s successes by analysing the results of the Global Order Book promoted by BOAT International and published in December 2024. Benetti General Manager Massimiliano Casoni focused the conversation on the strategic value of collaboration between the Shipyard and the main players in the boat building industry, which is what underpins Benetti’s determination to establish deeper relationships, rooted in trust and shared values, for the ultimate purpose of greater owner satisfaction. To further consolidate these relationships, the Shipyard conducted interviews in 2024 using the Net Promoter Score (NPS), an effective tool for measuring customer satisfaction and understanding customers’ propensity to recommend the brand. Together with other tools, the interview results helped identify Benetti’s strengths and areas for improvement. In explaining this strategy, Benetti GM Massimiliano Casoni added that “Benetti’s success is based on constant dialogue with the various players, including captains, who play a key role in telling the yacht builder what the real onboard requirements are. This is an ongoing dialogue that’s far more than the mere delivery of a product: Benetti’s goal is to create made-to-measure yachts that meet the specific needs of owners, captains and crew, thereby guaranteeing an exclusive yachting experience”. Next, Benetti Sales Manager Daniela Petrozzi illustrated the order backlog up to the end of 2028, with 60 yachts under construction and on order totalling over 2.7 km in length, each built to meet the needs of a specific owner. Every Benetti yacht, in fact, is tailor made and built to meet the customer’s expectations, and this is made possible by the wide range of products. Petrozzi drew attention to the backlog’s breakdown by geographical region – Europe (35%), MEA and APAC (33%), Americas (32%) – and extended a special thank you to the captains, brokers and surveyors with whom Benetti works and who contributed to securing 75% of the contracts involved. Benetti Head of Product Sebastiano Vida spoke about Benetti’s special role as ‘The House of Yachting’, a definition that reflects the pleasure boat sector’s perception of the brand’s excellence and at the same time its huge responsibility towards everyone who wants to enjoy the experience of owning a Benetti yacht. This calls for exceptional design, Italian craftsmanship and quality, technological innovation, commitment to sustainability and solutions providing unique levels of customisation. It’s also why the Shipyard launched a new initiative, “Perspective from the Bridge”, enabling captains to explain their point of view at a roundtable focusing on topics such as innovation, sustainability and insights into owners’ ways of enjoying their yachts, the aim being to continually improve their onboard experience. This was also an opportunity to illustrate the projects presented at the Monaco Boat Show last September. Gilberto Francesini (Benetti R&D Project Manager) and Marco Coiatelli (Benetti Custom Head of Engineering) presented the Shipyard’s Green Route up to the present day and anticipated some future developments. Benetti and the Group for over 20 years have been actively engaged in seeking out real-world solutions for cutting CO2 emissions. The most recent developments at Azimut|Benetti Group’s R&D department have centred on the study of alternative fuels, which led to the adoption of HVO, a biofuel obtained from renewable raw materials* that makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to the standard fossil mix, depending on the materials used in its production. HVO is seen as the ideal solution today, but given the limited availability of raw materials to produce it, the Group R&D office performed new research on green methanol from renewable sources to be used on Benetti yachts as soon as 2025. A methanol engine room simulator (based on a new 68M project) will be installed in Livorno to help captains familiarize themselves with the functions, safety and management of this new solution. Benetti Class Warranty Manager Pierluigi Rago and Benetti Custom Warranty Manager Luigi Spina illustrated one of the pillars of Benetti’s strategy, the new assistance programmes serving owners and crews of the Class and Custom yacht lines, offering constant personalized support to the Shipyard’s highest standards wherever the boat is and not limited to the new build phase but for the yacht’s entire life cycle. Every unit has the benefit of a dedicated Service Manager during the warranty period and a global network of Service Points designed to guarantee prompt and highly specialised intervention worldwide, not only at the Livorno HUB but also in the Americas, the Middle East and the Asia Pacific region. Ferdinando Pilli, General Manager at Lusben since September 2024, outlined the changes being implemented in the Lusben division and the new services and infrastructure following completion of the €12 million investment package in the three-year plan, and spoke about future projects at the Livorno site to support captains and crews. “The division’s recent results confirm that investments in infrastructure and personnel in the last few years are bearing fruit,” said Lusben GM Ferdinando Pilli. “We’re still investing to make stays more enjoyable for captains and crews and we’re sure that all this, along with the quality of our work, will enable Lusben to consolidate its role as the refit Hub for the entire Mediterranean.” Thanks to its consolidated expertise and in-depth knowledge of Benetti products – the two companies are in the same Group – Lusben is also capable of providing yacht maintenance beyond the warranty period. As announced by Lusben Sales Manager Gianni Paladino, the company will be managing Benetti’s after-sales service from 2025 on, offering full, integrated support in terms of yacht maintenance, assistance and refits. And Head of After-Sales Service Andrea Moschese added that the new hub will also guarantee service after the warranty period, with a five-year maintenance contract covering preventive and corrective maintenance, refitting services and integrated support for spare parts supply, as well as technical documentation and consulting. Thanks to Lusben’s made-to-measure approach and advanced facilities, customers will be able to enjoy highly specialised assistance globally. In the second part of the day, the participants engaged in some team building activities in the Medina quarter of Marrakech, providing an opportunity for interaction and creating genuine connections based on a sharing of values. Because synergy and relationships are the true heart of Yachtmaster. Benetti extends thanks to the following partners and sponsors whose contribution is vital to the production and success of the event: GIGA partners: AWLGRIP, Viraver, Volvo Penta. MEGA partners: Asea nautica, Asea power, Boero, CMC Marine, Crew Pro, DYT YACHT TRANPORT, Jotun, Raymarine, Rina, Saim Marine, mtu, Telemar. CLASS partners: CGT, Fincantieri, Fraser Yacht, Memetti yachting, Naiad/samos, Sail ADV, SAMOS, Sea Ai, Videoworks, VSS, ZF Group. The Benetti Yachtmaster will also be held in Miami on April 2nd and 3rd, given the event’s huge success on the other side of the Atlantic too.

Gulf Craft, a global leader in yacht and boat manufacturing, has once again joined forces with the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation DIDI to foster innovation, talent development and educational excellence within the yacht and boat industry.  Announced during a formal signing ceremony at the Gulf Craft stand on the second day of the Dubai International Boat Show, this milestone marks the third consecutive year of collaboration between the two institutions.

GX Superyachts New Americas Partners

The innovators behind the spectacular new GX Superyachts brand have joined forces with Northrop & Johnson to market the yachts in the Americas. Signing with such a highly respected brokerage house underlines the ambition and reach of a team that only publicly launched in September at the Monaco Yacht Show. The brand stands for high levels of luxury combined with respect for the planet.  Construction work on the first hull is already well advanced at SES Yachts in Istanbul, Turkey. It is a 42m (138ft) model built in aluminum and designed for ultra-efficient hybrid propulsion. With a refined hull shape and a huge solar array, the yacht will have a carbon footprint that is 60 per cent smaller than a conventional model of the same size. GX Superyachts builds strongly on the expertise of their sister company Greenline Yachts, which leads the market for hybrid yachts up to 58ft.  “Since we launched GX Superyachts in Monaco last year, we have received lots of attention and potential sales leads,” said founder and owner, Vladimir Zinchenko. “We were hoping to make a big splash, but the response has been overwhelming. That is why we have taken the important step of joining with a big brokerage house that shares our values and has a particular focus on the American market.”

Maxim Announces US Partnership

Maxim Yachts global debuted the Max 44 R during the 2015 Miami Boat Show, leveraging its new collaboration with Legacy Marine, the brand’s first dealer in the United States, which will distribute the full range of Maxim day cruisers in Florida starting February 2025.  “I am convinced that Max 44 R is an ideal model for the North American market, thanks to its performance and spacious, convertible areas—perfect for both leisure and relaxation. Legacy Marine is the perfect partner to introduce us to a region particularly receptive to this type of boat, and I am proud of this partnership,” commented Marc Forné, Sales Manager at Maxim Yachts.

Riva Classiche at I.C.E. St. Moritz 2025

When elegance takes centre stage, Riva Classiche – the Ferretti Group company with a mission to restore and maintain vintage powerboats – is always the star: in fact the brand has partnered with The I.C.E. St. Moritz - International Concours of Elegance, the spectacular event that on February 21 and 22 transforms the famous frozen lake in the Engadin valley into an incredible stage for vintage cars, culture and lifestyle.  A must-go event celebrating the intersection of art, style and heritage, The I.C.E. St. Moritz attracts collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world every year. Riva Classiche brings to the event the beauty of the brand’s classic boats and the products in the Riva Boutique.  For the 2025 edition of The I.C.E. Complementing the experience, a Riva Lounge has been set up in the Grace La Margna Hotel St. Moritz, creating an exclusive space pervaded by the atmosphere of the brand and populated with the collectibles and accessories in the Riva Boutique, embodying Riva’s timeless style.

Riva Classiche at Retromobile

Riva Classiche, Ferretti Group’s company dedicated to the restoration and maintenance of vintage powerboats, will be in the spotlight at the Rétromobile Salon in Paris, the event showcasing vintage and collector cars held this year from February 5 to 9, 2025 at the Parc des Expositions, Porte de Versailles.  Against the prestigious backdrop of Rétromobile, Riva will be showcasing a magnificent 1972 Riva Aquarama Special, masterfully restored by Riva Classiche and available for sale. At the Riva Classiche stand, visitors will be able to dive into the brand's signature mood with the help of a Riva Boutique corner, featuring clothing, home accessories and collectibles designed by Riva. The visitor experience will be complemented by an exclusive Riva Lounge, which on Wednesday February 5 will host the award ceremony for the Trophée de l'Académie Bellecour, presented to the year's best car book.  Riva Classiche preserves the know-how inherited from the Boat Service established by Carlo Riva in 1957 and draws on the techniques, materials and skills passed down by the Sarnico-based boatyard for over 180 years to restore vintage Riva boats. The company’s mission is to preserve and pass on the value and essence of these unique products, a desire that vintage boat owners share with classic car enthusiasts and collectors. This philosophy is the perfect fit for Time On Show, the benchmark event dedicated to collector and vintage watches and featured at Rétromobile in collaboration with main partner Riva.

Viking VIP Treatment

Mother Nature shone upon the Viking and Valhalla VIP Boat Show. After weeks of cold, gray weather the warm sun illuminated the Viking Yacht Service Center in Riviera Beach, Florida. Boating enthusiasts had two perfect days to peruse and sea trial dozens of boats. We also featured a record number of partners housed in our Vendor Village offering everything from insurance to electronics to custom boat gear (rods, shirts, cutting boards, gunwale covers – you name it!).  Even before the VIP Boat Show kicked off the event, Viking celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Valhalla Yacht Sales showroom and service center. “We’re extremely excited,” said Viking Yacht Company President and CEO Pat Healey. “We never stop investing in the future, and this $15 million project serves as the latest example of our commitment to offering our owners the best boats, service and customer care. We’re also very proud to bring this valuable marine business development to Palm Beach County.”

Viking Takes InTheBite Gulf Coast Division Captain of the Year

Big fish stories have defined captain Chase Lake’s sportfishing journey, marking both highs and lows. Back in 2016, Chase endured what seemed like a huge disappointment. He was fishing with friends on the Viking 54 Rise Up during the Orange Beach Billfish Classic. A 771-pound blue marlin was hooked in the tournament’s final minutes but missed the weigh-in by less than two minutes.  But, the battle with the blue caught the attention of Allen Krake, owner of the Viking 72 Team Supreme. Impressed by Chase’s skills, Allen hired him shortly after. “What felt like one of the most tragic things at the time turned out to be one of the best things that’s ever happened to me,” Chase says.  Fast forward to 2024, and Chase, alongside Team Supreme, achieved an extraordinary feat, winning the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship for the second year in a row and cinching InTheBite’s Furuno Gulf Coast Division Captain of the Year title.  With anglers Allen Krake, his wife Lisa, sons Allen Jr. and Alex, and Lennie Stephens, plus mates Seth Brennan and Hunter Smith, Team Supreme aims to make history by claiming a third consecutive Gulf Coast Triple Crown in 2025.  “I’ve found a new fishing technique where we catch a lot of tag-and-release fish,” Chase says. “Plus, the Viking is super-fast. Let’s just say we have a little old-school and new-school magic going for us.”

Viking at Masters Angling Tournament

Created over six decades ago by John Rybovich and his fellow anglers, the Masters Angling Tournament provides an opportunity to truly display fishing skill. “One thing is certain,” says long-time Masters angler Sam Peters, “you either love this format or you think we are crazy!” Two anglers per boat fish 7.5 hours a day and when the anglers set the hook, the boat goes dead in the water. Anglers are scored on fight time and dead baiting a marlin earns double points.  Sixteen boats fished this year. Captain Tony Carrizosa, fishing the Viking 64 Team Galati, captured the Top Boat Overall and High Boat Captain with 46 releases over three days. Second Place boat honors went to Pura Vida, a Viking 68, and captain Rudy Arguedas with 44 releases. Shon Craig, owner of the Viking 64 Amarula Son, won the Pete Boinis Award for the Fastest Fish – nine seconds!

Viking at Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Tournament

The Buccaneer Cup Sailfish Tournament saw an incredible three days of fishing action with a record-breaking 808 sailfish releases. And Vikings rose to the top of the leaderboard. Fish On, a Viking 48, got the party started with the first fish of the tournament. Top Dead Bait Release Boat went to Charles Brogdon’s Viking 50 Two Daze Off. Captain Scott Fawcett put the team on 23 sailfish for the honors. Second Place Dead Bait was the Viking 55 Kateric with 19 releases. William Wrede’s Viking 62 Lovin Life weighed the 2nd Heaviest Meatfish with a 21.4-pound cobia. Over $380,000 was paid out to winners and $75,000 was raised for The Billfish Foundation and Viking's Fisheries Conservation Trust.

Viking at Silverfish Sailfish Derby

Cold conditions equalled a hot bite at the 88th annual Silver Sailfish Derby. Hosted by the West Palm Beach Fishing Club, temps dropped into the 40s, and the 50-boat fleet battled five-to-seven-foot seas. Fish On, a Viking 48, buckled down and released 14 sailfish during the two days of fishing. This earned them Top Boat, and Andrew Dotterweich took Top Captain. Right on their heels was the Viking 68 Twin Reels. Captain Darrin Isaacs put the team on 12 sails for a 2nd Place Overall finish.

Viking at 2025 Signature Triple Crown at Los Suenos

Team Galati, a Viking 64, came out swinging at the 2025 Signature Triple Crown in Los Suenos, Costa Rica. Captain Tony Carrizosa put the team on 22 sailfish on Day One and kept the momentum rolling. The team of Carmine Galati Sr., Pat Healey, Drew McDowell, Eric McDowell and Thomas “Smalls” Garmany ended Leg I with one marlin and 86 sails to cement a 2nd Place finish. Fish Tank, the Jessen's Viking 64, released 76 sails and two marlin to secure 4th place. Leg II begins February 26 and Leg III starts on March 26. Stay tuned!

Project: Invictus TT550

The excitement surrounding the project of the Invictus ST550 future flagship, was so high that requests have followed for the Calabrian boat builder for the TT550 flagship.  Thus Cantieri Aschenez, the owner of Invictus Yachts made its fans happy and unveiled a second project on the same platform: the TT550, which follows the line the Italian boat builder has offered thus far since its debut eleven years ago in 2014. While the Invictus ST550 introduces a new range inspired by classically styled motor yachts, the Invictus TT550 further expands the TT line, becoming the natural evolution of the successful TT460 in a three meter larger size. Just short of seventeen meters in length, the Invictus TT550 is to be the new flagship of the TT range, maintaining the defining characteristics and innovations of the TT460, while integrating reimagined forward and aft exterior spaces. These redesigned areas maximize the overall experience, offering even greater exclusivity. Where luxury meets the essence of the Mediterranean spirit, the Invictus TT550 is all about enhancing the connection with the sea, prioritizing outdoor spaces over indoor ones. The folding side terraces are perfect for this, offering a feeling of openness and freedom with the surrounding environment, creating a safe and expansive cockpit area. A hallmark feature remains the semi-reversed bow, a distinctive signature of all Invictus Yachts. From the stern, you step up from the submerged platform, passing the substantial garage, to enter the spacious living area, designed for moments of socializing and relaxation. This open-plan space is perfect for enjoying every moment of the day, and thanks to the folding backrest of the aft sofa, it can be transformed into a large, inviting sunbathing area. The garage is cleverly designed to be accessed without disturbing those relaxing on the sun deck. Moving forward, the imposing carbon fibre hardtop, which is a hallmark of the TT460, is doubled in the Invictus TT550, providing protection for the dinette and galley up to the helm. A protected walkway, bordered by high sides, leads to the bow area, where the lounge unfolds. It’s a versatile space, perfect for daytime use with a carbon-fibre-supported harem awning and is also ideal for evening relaxation, offering a more intimate and romantic setting illuminated by soft lights running along the perimeter. Below deck, Christian Grande has designed two cabins; Master and VIP, with the option for the owner to choose the layout, either forward or amidships together with two bathrooms. In response to the owner’s wishes, a cosy mid-ship living area can also be replaced with a third cabin or a galley. An optional crew cabin is also available. Invictus TT550 will be powered by a pair of Volvo 725hp with IPS propulsion and is set to World Debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2025, along with its ST550 sister.

New Model: Maxim Yachts Max43 Comfort

Maxim Yachts is a new Spanish brand founded on solid bases with its Barcelona parent company started in 1971 as boat yacht repair facility, which enters boat production with the Max43 Comfort.  Initially announced as the Neo 43 project, this walk around center console sport cruiser debuted at the 2024 Genoa boat show, entering into the always growing competitive walk-around segment with performance and high end modern design by Alex Cherigny as its main attributes.  It is an endless competitive segment but yet the Max43 brings a fresh offer, designed not only as a high end performance but also a comfortable stay on board cruiser.  The Max43 bow to stern outdoor spaces expand in space thanks to drop down side balconies, and while this is not new in the category the size of the opening bulkheads are the largest in the segment.  The exterior spaces though are not the winning card, it is the lower deck cabin which sleeps four, in a forward and midships double berth, with a shower head to starboard, which makes the first Maxim interesting especially considering its very sporty characteristics.  The Maxim Max43 Comfort interior is finished in a minimalist clean style, creating a spacious and refined environment. The Maxim Max43 Comfort is powered by twin Volvo 380hp as standard and or optional 440hp with duo-prop stern drive propulsion with the large engines giving a top speed up to 42 knots and a cruise of thirty.  Want more speed?  The Max43 is also available in two outboard powered variants; the 43 Race with twin outboards, and the 44 R with triple Mercury 450hp set up and top speeds over fifty knots.

Boats Damaged as Boat Sheds Snow Collapse Near Ontario

Over sixty boats were damaged as boat sheds collapsed in record snowfall at Starport Marina, in Ramara Township, Orillia, near Ontario on late Monday evening 24 February.  The shed collapse came after Orillia made a new record for snow fall in February 2025 making 180 centimetres of snow, forty centimetres more to the previous February 2007 best.  Orillia has received record snowfall, with more than 460 centimetres of snow fall thus far in Winter 2025, this causing damage to roofs, decks, and gas lines..
Most of the boats in this shed collapse are Carver, Sea Ray's, and a couple of Cruisers also in the mix, all about ten to thirteen meters in length.

Project: Henriques 35 Express Hardtop

Henriques present the project for a new 35 Express Hardtop, which is in a nearly completed stage.  This new Henriques shares hull with the 35 Express and 35 Flybridge, two of the most popular from the New Jersey sportfish specialized boat and yacht builder.  Henriques has not given much details of the 35 Express Hardtop besides this rendering, but expect a similar cabin layout to the 35 Express, which can sleep two or three forward, plus two extra berths in a convertible saloon, with a shower head to port side on entry, and a galley forward to this.  The Henriques 35 Express Hardtop is to be powered by Cummins 425hp, with Volvo or Yanmar 440hp available as optional.

New Model: Pardo Endurance 72

Pardo finally reveal the Endurance 72 in its entirety, following its secret cameo at the end of Summer 2024. The first Pardo Endurance 72 played a prestigious role this summer in Barcelona, as it served as the hospitality yacht for Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli during the 37th America's Cup. Now the first Pardo Endurance 72 is completed and set to debut at the 2025 Palm Beach boat show coming March. An inhouse design for concept and exterior, with interiors by BurdissoCaponni, and naval architecture by Davide Leone, the Endurance 72 sports similar lines to the four meters smaller E60, a cross over yacht, which with the additional length looks sporty as it can. It is probably the sportier explorer cross-over yacht I know, and if you like car genre mirrors the Pardo Endurance 72 has a sporty SUV feel to it.  The Pardo Endurance 72 features a kitchen living dining on the main deck, and four cabins below layout.  The main deck has a stern galley to port side with opposite dinette, and a relaxing saloon forward to starboard, with helm station to port side.  This area has also a complete connection with the exterior area thanks to full sized floor to roof windows, with the one to starboard serving the dinette offering an unobstructed view on the water when the drop down balcony is lowered.  The guest lower deck cabin area is split in two separate areas, VIP and owners staterooms at midships with a dedicated staircase from midships and the two guest cabins forward.  A day head is also located half way in the stairs to the midships cabin area, serving guests daily duties.  The Endurance 72 offers spacious exterior spaces with the model even challenging Pardo's one meter larger more sporty GT75 flagship, with the jolly of a flybridge up top, this with an aft sun-pad, L-shaped dinette to port side with grill wet-bar opposite, and a dual seat helm station.  A unique feature as explorer spaces go is also the aft sun-pad on the main deck, which is something most cross-over explorer yachts do not have.  The Pardo Endurance 72 is powered by standard Volvo 800hp and or optional 1000hp, with a warped hull shape which decreases its deadrise aft in order to make slower cruising speed more comfortable and efficient.

Sunseeker New Web Site

Sunseeker updates its world wide web showroom. Sunseeker story starts in 1962 when Idris Braithwaite sons, Robert and John enter the family business and a year later to this moves his chandlery and outboards shop down the road from Christchurch to Poole.  With this change of location the Braithwaite's and business partner John Macklin enter into boat sales of American, British, and Scandinavian made boats and Poole Powerboats Limited is created.  In 1969 the Braithwaite's purchase two boat moulds for a seventeen and a twenty foot cuddy sport cruisers from Brunswick owned Owens Incorporated, with the first becoming the Poole Powerboats 17 Sovereign in 1971 and the other the 20 Sovereign a year later.  These first two boats are also the first standard stern drive equipped made in Britain boats.  For that time the two cuddy cabin cruisers sufficed Poole Powerboats purpose as entry to the dealership family of Scandinavian made Coronet, Draco, and Windy boats, as the Braithwaite's also became the largest Volvo Penta parts supplier for the United Kingdom in the early seventies.  Nonetheless a year forward the boat production business expands in late 1972 with the 23 Sports, followed four years later by the Daycab 23.  The Poole Powerboats 23 Sports and Daycab 23 were also the first to feature the Sunseeker prefix on the hull, used by Robert Braithwaite for European export reasons as Poole Powerboats was likely to be confused with the French ‘poulet’ word for chicken in France.  Produced in 120 units from 1976 to 1979 the Daycab 23 was Poole Powerboats first big success, which pushes the Braithwaite brothers into boat building, and in 1978 will partner with naval architect Don Shead, who debuts with the 28 Offshore and will not look back afterwards, for a partnership that will last till 2010 and his retirement.  In 1979 Poole Powerboats changes its name and is rebranded to what has been known since then as Sunseeker.  From their onwards the range becomes more complete and the sizes keep growing from the 31 Offshore in 1982, to the CUV 38 racing powerboat derived hull 34 XPS Portofino in 1983, to the 36 Rapallo in 1984, 47 Malibu in 1987, 60 Renegade in 1990 which was Britain's largest production yacht in that year, then to the Predator 63 in 1994, until arriving in the 24 meter plus super size with the 80 Predator in 1995 which again takes the mantle of Britain's largest production build yacht.  After the 80 Predator Sunseeker has been building United Kingdom largest production super yachts, which will arrive to its largest 155 Yacht as build in two units between 2014 and 2016.  Sunseeker also competed in various offshore races in the past for the most part in the eighties and noughties in the Endurance class, with its high point coming when it won the Round Britain 1984 in the CX Class, and placing fifth overall with a 34 XPS Portofino.  The Braithwaite's will sell Sunseeker in 2010 to Irish private equity firm FL Partners, who in December 2013 resell to Chinese company Dalian Wanda Group.  In November 2024 Sunseeker was sold to private equity firms Lionheart Capital from the U.S. and Italy’s Orienta Capital Partners.  Sunseeker today produces 24 models from 38 foot to fifty meters, in six ranges; Performance, Predator, Sport Yacht, Manhattan, Yacht, Ocean, and Superyacht.  Sunseeker current offer starts from the outboard powered Fabio Buzzi designed Hawk 38 and go up to the still in project 50M Ocean, with its latest model being the second generation Manhattan 68 which debuted past January.  Sunseeker new web site takes you around with the following buttons; Menu, Yachts, and Dealer Locator. Sunseeker is also on social media with bottom page buttons taking you to its Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, and Facebook pages.

New Rochelle Marina Fire Injures Two Wrecks Seven Boats

A woman and a child were injured in a fire which totalled seven boats at Imperial Yacht Club, in New Rochelle, at about 00:45 of Saturday 22 February.  Fire fighters responded to the blaze, with New Rochelle Police Harbor and Port Washington Long Island Marine all this coordinated by the New Rochelle Harbor master.  The fire got eventually more complicated as the boats burned there lines and freed themselves from the dock, burning other boats.  The fire took about two hours to contain, with the woman and child escaping from one of the boats suffering from smoke inhalation treated by firefighters at the scene before being taken to Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx.  Clean up operations were still ongoing Saturday as two of the boats sank, with one of these blocking the marina canal.  Details how the fire started are not reported, as an investigation is ongoing.
The boats in this fire are not identifiable as most of them are sank, though I can spot a Fleming 55 with what looks as mostly cosmetic fire damage to its starboard side.

Two Women Killed in Newark Boat Fire

Two women were killed in a fire which developed on a boat, at a boat storage facility located in the intersection of Pennsy Place and Pershing Avenue, to the West of Newark Liberal Airport, in Newark, New Jersey shortly before 20:55 of Friday 21 February.  Newark Police responded to the fire and took the two women to University Hospital, were they were pronounced dead.  An adult man was also grievously injured as he was taken to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, who was reported to be in stable condition.  The fire involved two boats, which were trailer parked next to each other in a boat yard.  An investigation on this fire is ongoing, with arson reported to be a possibility.
The damaged boat to the left in this fire is a Sea Ray 230 Overnighter as produced in the mid to late nineties.

New Model: Heesen 5700 Aluminium

Heesen Yachts has launched YN 20457 Project Akira, now named m/y Santosha.  The first in the Heesen new semi custom 5700 Aluminium series, YN 20457 boasts an interior volume of 780GT and features exterior lines penned by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. Originally built on speculation, the vessel's design took a new direction when the owners came on board. Working closely with the yacht's interior designer, Harrison Eidsgaard, and Heesen's interior engineers, the clients tailored the yacht to reflect their taste and lifestyle, transforming Akira into Santosha. The owners chose the Sanskrit name Santosha for their vessel and the lotus as a logo. First revealed at the 2019 Monaco Yacht Show, Heesen's 57-metre series has a shapely silhouette with an elongated profile. A sweeping arch ties the length of the superstructure together, while the slightly raked angle of the bow gives the yacht a stretched optical length. The scooped-shaped stern ensures that the 57-metre will stand out among other superyachts berthed in a marina. Santosha's owners envisioned an interior with a relaxed but elegant ambience, and Heesen's craftspeople masterfully executed this concept. The clients were heavily involved in material selection, incorporating many sustainable options, such as recycled wood, 'performance leather' and 'art silk' carpets. YN 20547 design seamlessly merges luxury and functionality, featuring a free-flowing layout and neutral colour palette. The interior showcases a refined architectural hierarchy and consistency. Minimalist aesthetics, carefully considered embellishments, and unique door treatments create a sense of fluidity throughout. The design details are meticulously curated, with elements like woven leather accents around the TV in the sky lounge and gleaming curved wallpapers that reflect sunlight. The interiors are also adorned with carefully curated art pieces. The use of art adds a playful and brave touch to the serene and elevated decor. The works are balanced by the pale-coloured floors and 'art silk' carpets, contributing to the vessel's fresh and elegant aesthetic. Heesen first 5700 Aluminium features a nearly 70 sqm owners' apartment, which includes a study, a full beam stateroom, and expansive bathroom. Elegant light fixtures and bespoke artwork make it a truly personal space. The master bathroom is an ode to the Garden of Eden, with lush white-on-white designs inspired by bas-relief techniques, designed in collaboration with the client, and masterfully crafted by London-based artists of DKT studio. The snake, a totem animal for the Owners, takes center stage in the artwork. Beyond transformation, this creature epitomizes rebirth. In its cyclical shedding of its skin, the snake becomes a symbol of renewal and resurrection. The spiritual energy of the snake inspires us to view endings not as finality but as gateways to new beginnings. The snake also represents the journey of healing. The area also sports beautifully carved Calacatta Sponda marble and an expansive vanity desk. The guest quarters are designed with practicality in mind, drawing on the clients' extensive experience and deep understanding of life on board. They feature light, elegant aesthetics with breezy pops of colour, curated artwork, and contemporary photography, creating a serene yet playful atmosphere. Santosha is not just a work of art but also a high-performance vessel that delivers. The Heesen 57-metre features a full aluminium hull, an iteration of the ultra-efficient FDHD devised by Dutch hydrodynamicists van Oossanen Naval architects. The 57 meter hull has been perfectly engineered by Heesen's in-house team and crafted by the shipyard's highly skilled welders. Two MTU 3433hp engines propel the the Heesen 5700 Aluminium up to 22 knots and deliver a transatlantic range of 3,900 nautical miles at thirteen knots. A draft of just over two metres makes also the Heesen 5700 Aluminium  an ideal platform from which to explore the turquoise shallows of the Bahamas.  This first Heesen 5700 Aluminium will debut at the 2025 Palm Beach boat show, with a second unit starting construction and set to launch in 2027.

Project: Nordhavn 80EYF

The project of this 80EYF comes from a customer who will be on his third Nordhavn, and currently owns a 75EYF from 2009 and previously to this an N62.   This Queensland, Australian owner was happy with the interior living quarters of the 75EYF, but was looking for some more outdoor space, especially the cockpit deck which will be extended in the 80EYF and will feature a California style cockpit deck.  With the length extension of the 80EYF will also come a modification of the bulkheads to make engine room access easier.  Leishman and to an extent all naval architects are not really keen to entertain buyers’ requests in moving bulkheads, but with the yacht being extended, this was possible to do.  Besides adding space for outdoor entertaining, there will be other benefits to the new 80EYF.  For start the 80EYF will resemble the new modern design of current Nordhavns which includes the frameless pilothouse windows. Additionally, the extended waterline length will equate to improved performance and seakeeping abilities, plus the lengthened prop shaft, a Y strut as featured on the N96s will be added to ensure the prop is spinning in smooth water, thus increasing efficiency.

New Model: Galeon 480 Fly

Galeon debuted its new 480 Fly at the Cannes boating festival. A replacement to the 460 Fly after six years of production, the Galeon 480 Fly comes again from the two decades guidance of naval architect Tony Castro.  As is with Galeon models since 2015 the 480 Fly primary objective is to expand the deck area and offer abundant natural light into the interior by incorporating generously oversized windows on both the main and lower decks. The flybridge comes equipped with two distinct seating areas, a wet bar and a fully equipped top steering station. The Galeon 480 Fly makes also extensive use of carbon technology, saving weight savings for more space up top and better handling due to a lower center of gravity. The beloved Beach Mode makes a triumphant return, charming with partially glazed balconies, effectively expanding the usable cockpit space when you decide to drop anchor. The aft seating will feature a stow-away grill option accessible from the hydraulic platform. The Galeon 480 Fly offers a main deck with an astern galley layout looking inside, while the lower deck is a three double cabins layout, with an owners stateroom at midships. The Galeon 480 Fly is powered from twin Volvo 440hp up to 600hp.  The first unit was actually powered by twin Volvo 600hp and line shafts, which give you thirty knots max and a 24 cruise.  It is not understood if IPS is available for the Galeon 480 Fly, while a US advertised unit is powered by large Volvo 670hp and the eleven meter blocks.  Competition is not fierce as it used to be in this size and flybridge type cruisers, with the 480 Fly closest rivals coming from the IPS only Absolute 47 Fly and the slightly larger Prestige F4.9.  Interestingly this triumvirate of choices is not really alike with the new Galeon 480 Fly being the only one with drop down balconies and midships owners room.
