Azimut-Benetti Group Restructuring Operations

As of 1st of December, the Atlantis brand will be integrated more closely into the Yachts business line, relying fully on the sales structure and service network already in place. The Yachts business line, grouping together all planing boats up to 30 metres, will continue to be lead by Paolo Casani, who will thus take on direct responsibility for the Atlantis brand in addition to the role of CEO of Azimut Yachts. Mr Casani takes the place of Luca Sburlati, who has left Azimut Benetti Group after four years with the company as head of HR and a brief stint alongside him on the Atlantis brand.

Broom Award Nomination

Broom Boats, based in Brundall, Norfolk, has been nominated for the prestigious IPC Marine Media Motor Boat of the Year Award. The nomination is for the new Broom 370, a luxury 38ft motor cruiser, which was launched at Southampton International Boat Show earlier this year. The new Broom 370 has received rave reviews from the marine press, including Motor Boats Monthly and Motor Boats & Yachting and further marks the rejuvenation of the famous Broom marque. Seven Broom 370s have already been sold since the launch at Southampton, with boats being delivered to France, Holland and the UK. Further new boats are due to be launched by Broom in 2012.

Broom Extends International Boat Show Attendance

Broom Boats are delighted to announce its attendance at not one but two major International boat shows in January. Broom will be exhibiting a new 370 at the Tullet Prebon London International Boat Show on stand L117. Broom will then be exhibiting a different 370 at Boot Dusseldorf the 43rd International Dusseldorf boat show in Hall 5 on stand 5D40. In the current climate exhibiting at these events needs to be carefully considered, however we are confident that the new products on offer coupled with the new marketing material enables the brand to achieve the targets set for 2012. Following the successful launch of the 370 at the PSP Southampton International Boat Show 2011 we are delighted to announce the order book is continuing to grow and we have increased our production staff to allow the 370 to be built on 2 production lines. We have received a large amount of interest in the brand and products from the European marketplace and this has enabled us to exhibit at the Dusseldorf boat show with confidence. The development of the 35 Coupe also continues and will be launched at the inaugural Broom Boat show on the 28th April 2012 at our yard in Brundall; further details of this will be released in the New Year.

Nor-Tech Welcomes Alden Thornton and Expands Line-Up

Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats has set its sights on the offshore saltwater fishing boat market with an ambitious plan that includes new models, new dealers, and a key personnel acquisition, the Florida-based powerboat manufacturer announced today.  Known for many years as a builder of custom high performance vee-bottoms and catamarans, Nor-Tech has recently expanded its lineup to include a growing array of diverse new models, including an 80’ sport yacht, and 34’ and 39’ luxury/performance center consoles. Now, the company plans to target the saltwater fishing boat market with a full line of tournament-ready center console fishing boats. The company plans to make significant inroads into the offshore tournament fishing community by joining forces with one of its most recognized members, hiring industry veteran Alden Thornton to serve as national saltwater sales manager and fishing team manager. Thornton arrives at Nor-Tech with a lifetime of marine industry experience spanning sales, dealer development, product development, racing, and tournament fishing. For the past six years, Thornton served as regional sales manager and fishing team manager for Fountain Powerboats, where he was heavily involved in the design, testing, and sales of fishing boat product. Thornton began competing professionally on the Southern Kingfish Association (SKA) tournament trail in 2002, and his wife Alison was named as the SKA’s Lady Angler of the year in 2010. In July, Thornton’s “A-Team” fishing team took top honors at the 2011 Alabama Deep Sea Rodeo, an event certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest fishing tournament. Prior to joining the SKA, Thornton raced boats in the American Power Boat Association (APBA), where he won two national championships, two North American championships, three high points championships, and has been twice inducted into the APBA Hall of Champions. Nor-Tech will introduce four new fishing models in 2012, ranging from 28’ to 43’. The fully redesigned fishing version of its current 39’ center console will debut at Miami International Boat Show in February, with the fishing version of its current 34’ center console following soon after. An entirely new 28’ will join the fleet in early summer, and tooling work has just commenced on a flagship 43’, which is slated for debut next fall. Nor-Tech also announced that a significant expansion of the company’s dealer network is underway, with the goal of including dealers specializing in the company’s outboard products. Joining established Nor-Tech dealers Scott Shogren of Shogren Performance Marine in Waukegan, Illinois and Carl Hansen of New Boats Direct in Key Largo, Florida; the company announced the following new dealers: Greg Bent and Jon Miller of Bent Marine in New Orleans, Louisiana; Kenneth and Mike Black of South Austin Marine in Austin, Texas; and Brian Forehand and Robbie Brown of Marker 17 Marine in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Riva Shows off in International Events in December

Riva, a brand of the Ferretti Group, has taken part in two important events in December: from the 8th till the 12th its new jewel, Riva Iseo, was presented at the Millionaire Fair in Amsterdam, while on the 9th December the exhibition "Lo Stile Italiano - arte e design” started in Monaco that will finish on the 2nd January, during which Riva is celebrated as an icon of Italian style and design through one of its best known models, Aquarama, on display. The exhibition organised by the Italian Embassy in the Principality of Monaco is to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, under the aegis of the President of the Italian Republic and of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II.

Riva to Luxury Verona Show

Riva, a Ferretti Group’s brand, took part in Luxury & Yacht, the greatest European luxury show in Verona (24th-27th November 2011), to present the latest model of the shipyard, Iseo, a 27-foot runabout that has already been widely appreciated by the public at the Festival International de la Plaisance in Cannes and at Genoa International Boat Show. On the occasion of this important event, Riva has worked in partnership with its historic dealer Nautica Casarola to show to the visitors the new gem of the brand within a dedicated area. Iseo is destined to become a must-have for those who love cruising on both lakes and sea and for design enthusiasts. She is also perfect for anyone wishing to enhance their yacht with an exclusive tender that will never go unnoticed. Result of the working relationship between Officina Italiana Design, the exclusive designer of the entire Riva range, AYT – Advanced Yacht Technology – the Ferretti Group’s naval research and design centre, and the team of architects and designers at Centro Stile Ferrettigroup, the new runabout has been devised so owners can ‘live’ her wherever they wish: for this reason the standard version of Iseo has her own custom-made car-trailer, allowing easy transportation wherever the owner wishes to go. Iseo also effectively responds to the increasing demand for onboard infotainment: she is indeed the first boat in her class to be equipped with an entertainment system and GPS charting based on the Apple iPAD platform. Many luxury products of the great international brands were on display in Verona, ranging from high performance cars to wellness, from entertainment to interior design. Iseo, a synonym for Italian luxury and excellence, could not miss such an important event.

Project: Pershing 82

Pershing presents the project for a new 82 model, based on the 2008 launched 80, and following the pattern of the latest 74; meaning addition of a sun sport flybridge deck on top.  Access to the fly bridge will be from an automated hatch and a carbon steel staircase, a little mechanical masterpiece created by AYT in close collaboration with Besenzoni. The staircase is decentralized and drops automatically into the cockpit by electro-hydraulic control and automatically disappears upwards when closed, freeing the space in the cockpit. The flybridge layout will offer a simple functional form: next to the retractable helm, there are two comfortable lateral chaise lounge by the pilot’s seat, in which a practical minibar has been placed. Another modification from the 80 is also the bow sun-deck, now with sunbeds having separate and folding backrests; for safety purposes on the sun-deck there are two lateral handles and a pulpit which blend in completely with the aesthetics of the superstructure.  Another addition of the 82 will be for an extended bathing platform, and new larger view windows.  Accommodation will be for a four double cabins layout, with collaboration from Poltrona Frau continuing also for this new 82 model. Power is from twin MTU 2483hp with ZF Searex surface drives propulsion which give a top speed of 45 knots, and a cruise of 40 delivering a range of over three hundred nautical miles.  The Pershing 82 will also feature the new ZF Autotrim which increases comfort level at sea and better safety features.

New Model: Absolute 53 STY

An impressive 2011 fall from Absolute which including this new 53 STY presented five premier models in between the Cannes and Genoa shows from forty to 53 feet.  The 53 STY, acronym used for sport yacht shares hull and many design solutions with the 2010 launched 50 and 2011 53 Fly models.  Obviously the 53 STY is a hard top sport yacht with patio door dividing the cockpit.  Some might suspect the 53 STY should also replace the successful 52 launched in 2007, and the first Absolute to have the concept of upper saloon and patio doors dividing the area.  But so far the 52 is still in production and offered on the official web site.  Mirror difference with this new 53 STY to the 52 come instant and these are bigger engines options triple Volvo 435hp or twin 700 units, and more beam which offers more space everywhere.  Obviously the 53 STY is a complete new model versus the 52.  Below is also a choice for two layouts; three cabins sleeping six and owners room to fore, or two rooms which gives a spacious midships full beam master  room and VIP to fore.  In both the layouts the galley is below between the cabins, leaving main deck area all for entertainment.  IPS propulsion is again used in the 53 STY, which makes Absolute the most eager user of Volvo propulsion system available on thirteen from fourteen models.

New Model: Azimut 62S Italia

Azimut presents the new 62S Italia.  This new sport yacht model which sits in the middle of the Azimut S Collection fleet modifies the 62S launched in 2005, with some important changes.  From the outside the Italia difference is very minimum, with Azimut choosing well to stick to the sleek Stefano Righini designed lines, extending about one feet to the bathing platform, new bigger full glass sunroof, and larger aft cockpit deck. Another change in the aft deck is that for a C-shaped settee, instead of the sun pad, and tender stowage garage now being removed, this increasing the space in the area above and below.  Inside, one of the most important changes of the 62S Italia is for a standard three double cabins layout with two in line berths.  A third head has also been added.  While the crew cabin, again taking advantage of the tender garage removal; is now a more spacious two berths layout.  Power is from twin Cats 1150hp, again the Italia having an increase 100 horses per engine.  This giving an increase in top speed of three nautical miles per hour, now the 62S Italia reaching 37 knots of max.  So far the ZF pods are not mentioned in the specification, although the 62 S was the test bench for the big propulsion units.

New Model: Paul Mann Eighty-One

The biggest model ever to come out of North Carolina's Paul Mann, the 81 feet named Georgia Girl.  Build in the more modern jig method of the cold molding technique, reminding here that Paul Mann is one of the few who also constructs if desired in the more traditional frame and plank.  The new Eighty-One is the proud new flagship of Paul Mann founded in 1988, and beats the not so long ago launched 76 Ann Warwick by five feet.  A first for this model will be the use of Naiad Stabilizers, which on test did little to affect performance.  Her interior will offer five double guest cabins layout all with private heads.  On the main deck is the usual sport fish layout with galley to fore, here ordered in greater size by the owner, and also a day head.  Interiors are finished in sliced cherry veneer which also gave her the price for Cabinetry Awards in Prestigious Design Competition. Power is from twin MTU 2400hp engines which give a top speed of 40 knots.
Technical Data:
LOA - 24.68 m (81ft)

Project: Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht

Sunseeker presents the project for the 28 Metre Yacht, a model which will be launched in 2012 and represents a design revolution for this well known British builder.  The 28 Metre Yacht offers surely the higher percentage of window surfaces more then any other Sunseeker in the range, but even though it is a full flybridge yacht her profile is distinctively sports, thanks to the flybridge and longer feel to the fore deck.  Sunseeker also says the 28 Metre Yacht will also have a very high free board, this being used to offer more space.  Inside a four guest cabins layout is show with two separate entrances.  The VIP and owner rooms are located to fore are, with the two guest cabins located to midships.  Crew quarters are aft with two cabins sleeping four on bunks, lobby with L-shaped saloon, small galley, and shower head.  A three part split level saloon offers the usual feature of a yacht this size, saloon and dining, galley, and pilot house to fore.  Power will be from engines up to a combined horsepower of 3900, which give 29 knots estimated max speeds.

New Model: Austin Parker AP54 Fly

Austin Parker presented the 54 Fly in the fall of this year.  This model of this Italian company continues the renovation as started in 2008 with the 42 Open and comes again as all the range from designer Fulvio De Simoni, who presents down East lobster boat looks with a hint of Italian in its looks.  See higher free board, semi extended flybridge, and more modern finished interiors.  None the less the 54 Fly what is the flybridge version of the 2010 presented Austin Parker 52 Open, is in my books very pleasant to the eye.  The flybidge is accessed from a  comfortable stainless steel stair case from the large aft deck, and features a helm station to port side, and a C-shaped settee with aft sun pad to starboard.  Below is the same layout as the 52 with three double cabins located below, with a galley in between in the lower accommodation deck.  A single person crew cabin is located to aft.  There is also a medium sized tender garage which with the bathing platform can carry two not so big personal water craft.  Power is from twin MAN 900hp engines which give a top speed of 33 knots, and a cruise of 28 delivering a range of three hundred nautical miles.
Technical Data:
LOA - 16.04 m (52.6ft)
Beam - 5.06 m
Displacement - 24.1 t unloaded, 28.7 t loaded
Fuel Capacity - 2800 l

Power is from twin engines, Volvo 435hp or Cummins 480.  Propulsion is shafts, or IPS pod drives with the Volvo choice.

News: Nord West December 2011

POSITIVE FALL 2011
Nord West had a very positive sales period here at the yard since this summer. Our sales figures of both new and second hand boats are in line with the numbers from last year. Apart from keeping up the numbers Nord West has also acquired the Najad yard and the goal since the takeover in middle of October was to quickly introduce the brand at the boat shows, meet with the owners directly and potential clients. It started directly with participation of two important shows, the “Hanseboot” in Hamburg and the Stockholm Boat Show – with both Nord West motorboats and Najad sailboats. An overwhelming interest came in for both Nord West and Najad where the latter was met with an incredible relief to see it back on track. At the yard, incredible enough it started the production of the very first Najad boats sold after only six weeks that will be delivered in the spring as the first “in-house” built, to the very happy new owners.  Nord West and Najad now look forward towards the New Year and will start it off with many exciting boat shows where it hopes to meet with you and your family. If you would like to know more about the models or perhaps would like  to specify a boat after your wishes, please contact Nord West or Najad preferably even before the shows to enable your visit to be as rewarding as possible.

Project: Hinckley T34

Hinckley presents the project for a new T34. This models follows suit to other Hinckley's with down East lobster boat traditional looks.  Hinckley say that a difference is this model will also be a simpler level of detail as standard. The lines of the Hinckley T34 clearly carry on the family tradition established by the Picnic Boat. The signature curve from rooftop to cockpit coaming, the tumble home, and the half-round toe rail describing the sheer line are familiar hallmarks. Brand watchers will also recognize the patented Jetstick at the helm and the boat’s less to two feet of draft.  Below the T34 will offer a convertible Vee berth sleeping two, galley, and a separate shower head.  Standard power will be twin Yanmar 260hp or optional Volvo 300 with fan estimated max speed up to 35 knots.

Project: Wider 150

Following its first much acclaimed 42 model, Wider presents an important project that of a 150 model.  Designed again by Fulvio De Simoni this model will be a super yacht of important proportions, with styling taking bits from the beginning twentieth century vessel, but characterized by clean lines and taut, smooth surfaces. The size of the stern volumes are exclusive for a yacht of this size and contribute greatly to the pleasure of living in close contact with the sea that this model offers. Each and every detail of the yacht has been studied so those aboard feel they are really in touch with the great outdoors: the large glazed surfaces which open out onto every deck make the interiors light and airy; the position of the master suite on the upper deck means the owner can enjoy a beautiful private terrace as well as privileged access to the flying bridge; lastly, the sundeck, accessed by means of a convenient internal stairway, offers a panoramic, highly reserved area. But transformation is key in many areas especially in the stern.  Standard plan will offer a six double guest cabins, this including an owners apartment on the top deck. Tender space will be for three vessels including a big Wider 35 located aft, plus a car situated on the fore deck.  Power choices are varied, from diesel only to the edition of an electric hybrid set up.  A top speed of 20 knots is being estimated with the max horsepower choice.

Improve-it = Cruisers 350

Cruisers Yachts presents a interior upgrades to the 350 model which focus on the navigational center, stylish fabrics and more natural light to enhance the on-board experience. Making its debut at the 2011 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, the new interiors feature a more yacht feel in a mid-size sport cruiser model.  These improvements start at the helm, the completely redesigned navigational centers combine the latest technology with rich mocha-colored wood grain inlays. Interior fabrics, all produced at the company’s headquarters in Wisconsin, are available in three varieties: Oceania, featuring earthy and translucent tones; Azure, a twist on the traditional blue and white nautical theme; and Black Diamond, the more European feel with stark black and white colors. Boaters will also enjoy more square finishes and prominently silver-colored fixtures.

New Model: Azimut 60

Azimut 60 presented for the first time at the latest Genoa Boat show 2011, is the natural evolution of the 2007 launched 58.  Based on the same hull lines of the 58, Azimut presents a new model with the 60 which follows patterns as seen on the 64 launched in the fall of 2010.  That is similar flybridge profile windows, and design patterns.  The 60 also improves in many areas of its layout from the full beam owners stateroom now with breakfast dining table as first shown in the now stop produced 68S in 2003, to a two berth crew cabin located aft.  The 58 featured a single crew berth option.  A first in this size comes in the crew cabin, with a bathing platform entrance door being a unique feature in a motor yacht of just eighteen meters.  If the crew cabin is located aft this is usually found in a hatch of the aft deck.  Other improvements if you compare this model to the 58 come from the bathing platform new being 40% more spacious, as is the increased size of the flybridge C-shaped settee, and L-shaped wet bar galley.  For the rest this model holds the pressure of following the success of the 2000 launched 55 which in a nine year production run has been delivered to over four hundred units.  But may be to this, it had to be the revolution that represented the 55 in its times, which reinvented the layout in the seventeen meter motor yacht size.

Boat Review: Galeon 420 Fly

Presentation
Galeon 420 Fly is the latest model launched by the Polish builder in middle last Summer and presented to the audiences in the fall 2011 boat shows.  The Galeon 420 Fly sees the Strazyn boat builder with the help of designer and since 2004 collaborator Tony Castro concentrate again with a very solid release in the medium large size.  Before this Galeon was concentrating in its upper sizes see 780 Crystal also launched late Spring 2011, and under the forty feet as the 385 presented last year. Initially the project and prototype where being named 400 but with an over-all length over 43 feet Galeon named this model rightly the 420 Fly.  This flybridge motor cruiser has a lot an owner wants but its most desirable contents are the feeling of much bigger boat coming from the over four meters beam and thanks to a clever use of space which offers three double cabins, and living and galley on the main deck.  Choice as Galeon shows in other smaller and bigger models is also a virtue for the 420 Fly coming in seven engines, three propulsion, two wood finishing options.
Accommodation
The Galeon 420 Fly is a winner when it comes to the accommodation offered, and where this is in doubt transformation give it again an advantage.  The 420 Fly welcomes you aboard with a must have optional hydraulic easy tender launching bathing platform which increases length by 1.30 meters.  A port side transom door takes inside the aft deck, having an L-shaped settee with central table.  To port side is a built in fiberglass stair case for the flybridge, and to both sides are moulded steps which take to the well spaced side decks.  A fully opening patio door which conceals by the stair case to port side, takes you to the interior saloon.  Here is a C-shaped settee, and helm to starboard, while to port is an entertainment desk having a hidden TV, and galley in the one step raised forward area.  A central curved stair case leads to the lower cabin deck.  Genius is the astern part of the C-shaped saloon sofa moving to become a bench which joins with the settee in the aft deck to makes this area become all one.
The lower deck cabin area presents three double cabins, with two shower heads one of which en-suite for the owner and large view windows to the sides in all areas.  The owners room is located to fore, and features a centre queen sized island berth, while to port is entrance to the spacious en-suite shower head.  This also having a glass door separating shower stall.  To midships are the guest cabins.  The port side has also the option of becoming a second VIP room thanks to its optional transformation to a second double berth. Guest shower head is located to starboard.
The flybridge reached via the stair case from the aft deck offers huge spaces, with an L-shaped settee with table to aft, two units one wet bar sink, and another with grill, and two settees for four passengers with the starboard side being the one for the helm.  There is also a small sun pad area in front of the passenger settee to port side.  The side decks of the 420 Fly are also spacious and to fore is also two medium sized sun pads to each sides.
Performance
The Galeon 420 Fly performance will depend on the choice you make as this model offers seven engines to choose from; Volvo four options, Cummins two, and Volkswagen.  Smallest engine choice is the Volvo D4 260hp, and largest option is the Cummins QSB 5.9 at 420hp.  You have also three propulsion choices from traditional shaft drive available with all, to stern drives for the Volvo engines, and IPS pod 500 only with Volvo D6 370hp.  Sea trials where conducted with the Cummins 420hp, and these delivered 30.9 knots of top speed. although the props had 1.5 inch over pitching in this first test.  Fast cruise was over 28 knots at 2800 rpm, drinking 72.6 liters per hour to engine.  26 knots is possible with 2600 rpm, and at 2400 you get 23 knots and a total consumption of 110 litres per hour.  Another trial was conducted with the Volvo D6 370hp engines with IPS500 pods which also reached a top speed of 30 knots.
Positive
Aft cockpit deck patio, and moving settee
Three cabins plan
Interior fit out choice
Propulsion and various engine choices
Negative
Optional extended bathing platform
Aft cleats
Competition
The Galeon 420 Fly is definitely one of the best three cabins models in this size category, and also the latest.  But if you are still undecided here is some other contenders you can look at.  Nord West 420 Flybridge started the IPS use on a flybridge and is still regarded as one of the best handlers as at today.  Other interesting choices are the Spanish Astondoa, and Rodman both launched in 2007, and the Absolute 43 Fly presented in 2010.
Absolute 43 Fly -  IPS only, well sized 3 cabins, lower deck galley, modern, large view windows
Alpa 42 Fly - traditional Italian design, third cabin is option and moves galley on the main deck
Astondoa 44 Fly - shafts or IPS, three cabins only
Azimut 45 Flybridge - new 2011, cabin 3 is option and bunk, owners room is spacious
Carnevali 130 - 2003 presented, third cabin is option and bunk
Dellapasqua DC12 SL - 2 saloon plan choices, traditional Italian looks, classic Deep Vee, shafts only
Nord West 420 Flybridge - nice three cabins, good IPS handling, also available with stern drive
Rodman 44 Muse - Fulvio De Simoni design with IPS only, nice three cabins, good seller
Starfisher ST45 - flagship from this Portugal builder, IPS only, split level saloon with dining table
Storebro 435 Commander - Scandinavian looks, three cabins, shafts power
WILD CARD: Sciallino S40 Fly - traditional Italian fishing Gozzo, 2 or 3 cabins, shafts only
Conclusion
Just presented to the World wide audience the Galeon 420 Fly shows the huge progress the Polish Strazyn builder has made in recent times, setting it as a top tier European builder and being helped in this by the inspiration which Tony Castro brought seven years ago in 2004.  The 420 Fly also fills a gap in the Galeon range between the 440 model and the soon to be replaced 390.  Importantly this gap is filled with a product of high technical and luxury content where it sets rules for the competition to follow.  Reality being that the 420 Fly is a complete flybridge motor cruiser, with a clever and spacious three cabin layout, and also offers choices to the buyer which are often unheard in this size.  Choices like the seven engines, or two wood styles for the internal, go to show the upmarket prowess of the Galeon brand offering a semi custom product in thirteen meters.

Project: Broom 300

After presenting two new models the past September at the Southampton show, this British builder since a year under new ownership presses more the accelerator and shows the project for a new 300 model.  The 300 is a sport cruiser design set to put entry level boaters into its range of cruisers. As far as I know Broom has never built a fully open sport cruiser as the 300, but I am not totally sure about this.  Whatever it was I cannot remember it, but I do know they build open speed boats during the sixties and seventies. This model although looking very Broom all the way will offer modern amenities as bonded side windows, and skylight serving all the lower deck.  The provisional plans show a spacious single level cockpit.  Inside in the lower deck will be an owners room to fore, shower head, galley, and L-shaped saloon.  Power or propulsion choices have not been yet advised but it does look to be a traditional line shafts by the layout of the interior especially since it does not feature a mid-ships berth.

New Model: Viking 66 Convertible

Viking launched the new 66 Convertible at the 2011 Fort Lauderdale show.  This model is a replacement for the long standing 64 of the same range.  Designed in-house by the Viking team, the 66 follows latest design stints of the recently introduced 82 flagship later on followed with the 76, and 70.  The 66 Convertible will offer a four double cabins interior in standard layout, with an owners room located to midships, and two of the guest cabins being bunks. Three shower heads service the cabins below of which two en suite for owners and VIP rooms.  Living is on the main deck with a single level saloon offering an L-shaped relaxing sofa, C-shaped dining table, and a galley.  There will also be a day head by the entrance of the saloon, which is definitely unheard in this size for any type of yacht.  The center console flybridge and free aft cockpit with mezzanine are all for the fighting competitive fisherman.  The aft deck offers over sixteen square meters of size which features all neatly hidden all fisherman needs; refrigeration, freezer, tackle storage, bait and fish wells. Power is for six engine choices from twin MAN 1550 up to MTU 2030hp.  The last most powerful option gives max speeds up to 40 knots.

Project: Horizon E54

Horizon presents the project for the E54 a flybridge motor yacht which use the Volvo IPS propulsion, this giving more an eco-friendly design and a greater interior volume for a comfortable and efficient ride. Styling for this new entry level is by US designer JC Espinosa who created a streamlined profile, accentuated by large E-glass windows and an oversize windshield for enhanced natural light, increased visibility, and panoramic views. Inside the E54 will offer a three stateroom, two head layout comparable to a much larger yacht, with thoughtfully-designed accommodations that maximize space while retaining an open feel. The IPS drive’s aft location provides increased interior volume, allowing a full-beam master with a walk-in closet, master head and room to spare for either a desk or seating. A guest stateroom with twin bunks is forward and to starboard, with a shared head to port and the highly spacious VIP cabin completely forward. For entertaining with a view, the E54 flybridge features sun pads and alfresco dining for eight, and a newly designed helm station with dynamic positioning system made to make docking easier. The aft deck seating area contains dining for six, with the option for an aft galley location that provides easy access to the aft deck, and a hydraulic hi/lo swim platform and transom trunk storage proves ideal for a multitude of water sport activities.  Twin Volvo IPS900 with 700hp should give a top speed of 34 knots and a cruise of 28.

New Model: Innovazioni Progetti 72 Alena

It's been a long way coming for this North Adriatic sea based Italian builder, but the 72 Alena represents the flagship of its twelve model line up which starts at 34 feet.  The 72 Alena increases the Innovazioni Progetti size to the second in size model by twelve feet.  This model is a design of known architect Tommaso Spadolini who collaborated with in house designer Michele Carnevale responsible for other Innovazioni Progetti models.  As is with all the Innovazioni Progetti the 72 is a sport design, and as the smaller Alena's, it is a more coupe version of this theme.  That is fully opening patio door, sunroof and interior helm station.  The 72 Alena has so far been delivered in only one unit.  Hull one featured three double suites for guests  plus a cabin sleeping two for the crew located forward, with a living and galley on the main deck.  The owners cabin is located to midships and also features a separate stair case located in the middle of the saloon.  Another cool feature of the 72 Alena is a hidden private sun pad located on top of the hardtop.  Power is from twin MAN 1550hp engines with in line shafts.  No performance data is far provided.

Class 1 - Dubai U.A.E. Grand Prix 2011

RACE 1
Arif Al Zafeen and Mohammed Al Marri produced a command performance to win race 1 of the Skydive Dubai and Dubai Duty Free Grand Prix and clinch the UIM Class 1 Middle East Championship.
The Victory 3 crew were simply in a class of their own and led the 12 lap, 56.20Nm race from start-to-finish to win by over a minute and put themselves right back into contention in the fight for the World title having wrapped up the Middle East title.
Ali Al Neama and Matteo Nicolini, who earlier in the day lifted the Edox Pole Position Championship, simply had no answer to the pace and performance of Victory 3 and could only watch as they disappeared into the distance, but today’s second place their fifth podium of the year has moved them into the lead in the overall standings.
Giorgio Manuzzi and Pal Virik Nilsen produced one of the best outings of the afternoon to finish on the podium in Victory 7, a boat they are competing in for the first time, and after qualifying in fifth place.
There was bitter disappointment and frustration for Sheikh Hassan and Steve Curtis who started the penultimate race of the year leading the World Championship by 12 points from their teammates, but an electrical problem on lap 7 ended their hopes of a podium finish, dropping them from third place with the Spirit of Qatar 96 pairing eventually limping across the finish line in tenth place to pick up a solitary point.
Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al Tayer and Majed Al Mansoori marked their return to racing together with a solid fourth place to finish ahead of Guido Cappellini and Giampaolo Montavoci in Poliform, who were unable to match their impressive fourth place in qualifying due to an electrical problem that temporarily shut down one engine.
An electrical problem also blighted Relekta’s race dropping Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski from fifth place to finish in eighth behind Welmax and Fendi Racing, with FA.RO ACCIAI finishing ninth.
Today’s result sets up a tantalising final race of the season for the coveted World title with just seven points separating the top three.

RACE 2
Arif Al Zafeen and Mohammed Al Marri produced another faultless display to win race 2 of the Skydive Dubai and Dubai Duty Free Grand Prix and clinch the 2011 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.
In what has been a difficult week for the Dubai team the scratch pairing of Al Zafeen and Al Marri, racing together for the first time, responded in the best way possible to complete a hat-trick of wins in their home Grand Prix, their double race win clinching an eleventh World title for Victory Team.
Today’s result also gave Al Zafeen the clean sweep in the Middle East Championship taking maximum points, winning twice in Abu Dhabi with the now suspended Nadir Bin Hendi, and twice with Al Marri.
The turn of events of the last two days had thrown up an unexpected winner-takes-all title showdown between Victory and the twin attack of Spirit of Qatar, but the hoped for fight on the water for the title never happened.
An engine problem for Spirit of Qatar 95 as they left the wet pits before the race, ended Ali Al Neama and Matteo Nicolini’s title hopes, joining the race three laps down and coming home in eighth place. A recurrence of yesterday’s steering problem hampered Spirit of Qatar 96’s drive up from tenth to third, eventually finishing in fourth, to cap a disappointing and frustrating day for the Qatar Team.
In what was almost a repeat of yesterday’s extraordinary drive, the Victory 3 duo again made their intentions clear at the start and led from the flag, extending their lead lap-by-lap and going on to complete the 16-lap, 75.40Nm in 45m 31.71s and win by over 55 seconds.
Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al Tayer and Majed Al Mansoori produced their best performance since teaming-up in Norway in July, and celebrated the return to racing of Al Tayer, after breaking his ankle in a Jet Ski competition, with an untroubled second place to give them the runners-up slot in the Middle East Championship and complete a very good day for the United Arab Emirates.
There were also celebrations in the Norwegian-Turkish camp with Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski producing an outstanding drive to take their first podium together.
Starting from the outside of the start line down in eighth place the Relketa crew adopted a smart long lap strategy and by lap seven were up to fifth place. They passed the ailing Spirit of Qatar 96 and yesterday’s podium finishers, Giorgio Manuzzi and Pal Virik Nilsen, in Victory 7 on lap 13 and held on to take a well-deserved third place, Zabo Racing’s first podium appearance since Abu Dhabi 2010.
Bjorge Jackobsen and Kurt Olsen gave another steady performance in Welmax, moving up from tenth place at the end of lap one to take their second top six finish of the weekend and finish ahead of Fendi Racing, in what has been a rather disappointing weekend for Italians Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella.
A dramatic moment for Guido Cappellini and Giampaolo Montavoci, spinning out and all but turning over Poliform inside Palm Island, ended their race on lap three. FA.RO ACCIAI going out three laps later with technical problems.
