New Model: Viking 90 Convertible

Since the announcement and launch of the Viking 90 Enclosed Bridge, the model has received tremendous global attention, selling twelve units before its debut, and four more signed just after it's World presented in Miami earlier on this year. Now Viking follows the Enclosed Bridge model with the presentation of the sportier Convertible open bridge version. Her sleek design is purpose-driven and loaded with amenities while also serving as a social hub.  From first glance, it is clearly apparent that the visibility of the open bridge is excellent due to the low-profile, well-laid-out console. Both forward to the bow and aft to the cockpit and beyond to the spread, the clear sightlines provide the captain confidence while docking or backing down. The interior perimeter and seating modules have an integrated toe kick for added aesthetics and function.  A trio of Release Marine Trillion series teak ladder-back chairs adorn the console, with all three having the same size pedestal and are mounted on an elevated centreline moulded-in standing platform. Behind is an eight-rod rocket launcher on the double aft rail.  The flat panel helm has an acrylic inlay that can accommodate four 19-inch screens. Recessed port and starboard split lid radio boxes are at your fingertips while also keeping electronics protected from elements with gasketed lids and stainless-steel piston lifts.   Seating is abundant. A pair of bench seats flank the console and provide rod storage below. Aft-facing lounge seats, bookended to the bench seats include a comfy backrest. A large sun lounge is forward and offers armrests, drink holders and generous storage below. There is also a freshwater sink, large top-loading freezer and a chill box for keeping drinks and snacks handy.  Inside the Viking 90C offers an interior with living, lounging and entertaining main deck, fully equipped counter-topped galley adjacent with a five stool bar, dinette opposite, and lounging saloon on entry to port side, with a day head located forward.  The lower deck offers a five double cabins five en-suite heads layout, with a master stateroom located at midships featuring his and hers bathrooms looking aft.  A crew cabin is located aft.  The Viking 90 Convertible is standard powered by twin Cats 1925hp, and or optional Cats 2433hp, and MTU 2635hp.  Hull one of the Viking 90 which was an Enclosed Bridge optioned with Sky Bridge and the big twin MTU 2635hp reached top 38 knots speeds, and cruise at 32/33 for a range up to six hundred nautical miles.

Project: Viking 64 Enclosed Bridge

Viking has always believed in the design and development of the enclosed bridge, and presents the project for the 64 Enclosed Bridge.  A new entry level to the Enclosed Bridge range the 64 EB comes as replacement to the 62EB produced from 2014 to 21 and offers the comfortable out of the weather, climate-controlled raised command centre. The 64 Enclosed Bridge features the typical Viking wraparound windshield which gives excellent sightlines in all directions, a style mimicked inside by the raised helm console that holds the electronics components, engine controls and Optimus electric power steering. This console is also to be finished in black Ultraleather surfaces and visor to reduce glare.  As is usual the Viking 64 enclosed bridge also serves as the home for a second salon, a private retreat with an L-shaped lounge, refrigerator, cocktail table and entertainment centre. The walnut hardwoods and cabinetry combine with natural light flowing through the windows to create a space that’s warm, open and airy.

New Model: Viking 90 SB

In the early part of 2023 Viking launched its new 90 SB flagship, a 27 meters super sportfish yacht with all the birds and whistles.   A replacement to the 92 which debuted in the fall of 2014 and produced till 2022 sold in 21 units, of which sixteen where in the Enclosed Bridge variant.  The 90 is also the third in size Viking ever made if we add the 93 MY which sold in only one unit in 2017.  Following the introduction of Selective Catalytic Treatment Viking would have continued production of the non stop selling 92, but the new rules needed the New Gretna to go back to the drawing board and make a flagship with a 24 meter hull length.  The 90 looks all based on the 92 with an identical beam and will offer a five double stateroom layout with an owners master stateroom at midships.  A crew cabin with separate shower is located aft.  Beside the Sky Bridge version off hull one the 90 is also available in Enclosed Bridge or open Convertible version, with this being sold as hull number four and has started construction in the fall of 2022.  Available with three engines from standard Cats 1925hp, or optional 2433hp, and MTU 2635hp with these last fitted to hull one.  The 90 has so far sold in fifteen units after its debut at the Viking VIP preview in end January, and World launch in the Miami boat show in February 2013.

New Model: Viking 54 Open

The largest express-style yacht Viking has ever built, the 54 Open series consists of three models; the 54 Open, 54 Sport Coupe and 54 Sport Tower. The Open Series made its world premiere at last year’s 2021 Fort Lauderdale boat show with the Sport Coupe version featuring a custom radar mast atop a three-sided fiberglass deckhouse. A few months later, Viking showcased the 54 Sport Tower for the first time with the gorgeous FarNiente at the Miami boat show.  At the Fort Lauderdale 2022 in end October Viking completed the circle presenting the 54 Open which featured a custom Palm Beach tuna tower, and unlike the Sport Tower and Sport Coupe, this model has a three-sided wraparound windshield with space between it at the hardtop, allowing a more open-air environment on the command deck. The 54 O can also be delivered without a tuna tower as a sleek express yacht.  The 54 Open’s fiberglass windshield frame is designed and fabricated in-house at Viking adhering to strict tolerances, what is a single-piece fiberglass part perfect windshield.  Above is a shot of the show-bound first 54 Open in its final stages of construction, with a tower designed and fabricated at PBT in Riviera Beach, Florida. Atlantic Marine Electronics, another Viking subsidiary, has pre-installed the wiring for the tower electronics. The first Viking 54 Open also received a teak cockpit sole.  Back in New Jersey, the next 54 Open which will also be fitted with a PBT tower, is in the mechanical department ready for its powerplant of twin Man 1550hp and gyroscopic stabilizer Seakeeper 16 installations.

Project: Viking 90 Sky Bridge

Like with any of its models Viking proposes different versions on its platform, and so will be the case with its new upcoming 90 flagship model, which will replace I would say temporary the 92 after 21 units delivered.  Unlike the 92, the new 90 will have a load line of less to 24 meters making it abstain to Selective Catalytic Reduction rules which entered force in 2022.  Selective Catalytic Reduction units need further engine room space and redesigned layouts, with Viking being very vocal against the new rules to fit mandatory converters, and working a lot to delay the entry from 2020 to 22. The Viking 90 will offer a six stateroom layout, highlighted with a full beam owners stateroom at midships.  The Sky Bridge project will differ from the other standard Convertible and Enclosed Bridge versions for offering a fully equipped second helm station up top.  The Sky Bridge replaces the full-tower and makes it safer to reach then a Tuna tower helm, with the advantage that a fully fitted helm station can be equipped.  The Viking 90 is scheduled to debut in early 2023.

Robert T. Healey 1929 - 2021

Robert T. Healey Sr., the co-founder of the Viking Yacht Company who helped build the company into an industry leader and led the fight that repealed the Federal Luxury Tax on yachts in the early 1990s, passed away nine December at the age of 92.  Bob Healey Sr. and his brother Bill established Viking Yachts in 1964, and the company went on to become the largest manufacturer of sport fishing yachts in the world. But that success may have never been achieved without the determination and perseverance of Bob Healey. When a federal 10 percent luxury tax was imposed on yachts in 1991, thousands of people were laid off and hundreds of companies went out of business. Viking nearly went bankrupt, closed a plant in Florida and laid off all but 65 of its 1,500 boatbuilders.  Bob was instrumental in organizing a national, grass-roots campaign to fight the tax. He took the industry lead, organizing busloads of out-of-work boatbuilders to converge on Capitol Hill for demonstrations, and setting fire to a boat on a barge in Narragansett Bay as a highly effective symbol of protest. The tax was repealed 20 months later in 1993.  With Bill’s help, Bob privately funded the company out of his own savings, allowing Viking to tool up new models. The company came out of the gate running when the tax was finally repealed – and they never looked back.  Bob graduated from Camden Catholic High School, attended St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia, graduating with a B.S. in Political Science, and earned a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He practiced law in Camden County, N.J., for 25 years before retiring as a senior partner in the firm of Healey, Mueller and Tyler to devote himself full time to business interests.  In the 1950s, his brother Bill joined Bob in the real-estate development business. Among other projects, the two brothers acquired and developed the Bass River Marina in New Gretna, N.J. In 1964 a small, local builder of wooden boats, Peterson-Viking, was having financial trouble, and the brothers agreed to buy the company, changed the name to Viking Yachts, and relocated the business to their property adjoining the marina. The boatbuilding business soon occupied much of their time, so the brothers sold the marina and concentrated on building yachts. Bob was the company lawyer, moneyman and Chief Executive while his brother built the boats.  Committed to their mantra to build a better boat every day, Bill and Bob pushed Viking to the pinnacle of their industry with more than 5,000 boats delivered. They successfully steered the company through the ups and downs of economic cycles. As Viking's Chairman of the Board for 57 years, Bob Healey Sr. diversified their financial interests into multifamily, industrial and commercial real estate, oil and gas exploration and development, and the financial management of the Healey family assets.  Together, Bill and Bob Healey achieved many milestones. In 1996, they founded the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA), a non-profit organization formed in 1996 to promote sustainable fisheries and a healthy marine environment. Viking has contributed well over $1 million to the RFA. In that same year, the brothers established Viking Sport Cruisers, a company that has been highly successful distributing British-built, high end cruising yachts, built to Viking's specifications, through its dealer network in North America. Bob, Bill and Pat received the Ernst and Young 1998 New Jersey Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Fifteen years later, the family would earn a second award from Ernst and Young. Ironically, the Healeys bought back Bass River Marina in 2002 and reopened it as the Viking Yachting Center.  They were inducted in 2003 into the National Marine Manufacturers Association Hall of Fame for their outstanding contributions to the marine industry.  In honor of their service and commitment to the marine industry for more than a half a century, Bill and Bob were honored with the 2019 IBI-METSTRADE Boat Builder Lifetime Achievement Award, which was accepted by his son, Bob Jr.  Bob received many more awards for his achievements, including induction into the NJ Marine Trade Association Hall of Fame and the Rowan University Milestone Award. Bob also channeled his financial success into philanthropic interests, which included building schools in impoverished areas of Mexico, and providing housing, medical assistance, education, food and clean water to the people of war-torn Sierra Leone through the Healey International Relief Foundation. A devout Catholic and product of Catholic school education, Bob brought his business skills to the challenges facing Catholic schools in the U.S. and formed the Healey Education Foundation and the Catholic Partnership Schools in Camden.  With his wife Ellen, Bob founded the Gleneayre Equestrian Program for at-risk youth. The program uses the powerful connection between horses and people to support learning, growth and healing.  For his philanthropic  efforts, Bob received the Lewis Katz Excellence in Education Award, the Beacon of Light Award, the Catholic Charities Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio Award for Leadership, an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Scranton University and the Shield of Loyola Award from St. Joseph's University.  Beloved husband of Ellen J. (nee Baldino), loving father to his seven children: Lizanne H. Jenkins (Thomas), Christine L. Healey, Caroline H. Adillon, L. Toland Sherriff (Robert), Robert T. Healey, Jr. (Bobbi), M. Alexis Iaccarino (Jonathan) and Leigh H. Hughes (Gabriel), and adored grandfather of his sixteen grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Louise L. (nee Lucas), and his two brothers, Patrick J. Healey and Edward J. Healey. He is survived by his brother William J. Healey, and many nieces and nephews.

Project: Viking 90 Convertible

The Viking 92 was arguably the greatest large sportfishing yacht of all time, with 21 boats delivered in seven years of production. The six-stateroom world-traveler merged convertible performance and fishability with megayacht luxury, proving that a Viking of its size could excel on the tournament circuit while providing the pinnacle of comfort. Driven by its mantra to build a better boat every day, here comes Viking again with another example of excellence in boatbuilding design, engineering and innovation. The legendary New Jersey boatbuilder is proud to announce the all-new Viking 90, a yacht that will redefine the capabilities of the luxury convertible sportfisher and become the new benchmark in the genre. The 90’s profile represents a synthesis of design traits from the 92, 80 and other modern Viking sportfishing yachts, as well as subtle motor yacht influences. Carefully placed feature lines, deckhouse windows and portlights with chamfered edges and Viking’s signature hull-side vents are just of few of the 90’s aesthetic high points. Viking will offer three models of the 90; Open Bridge, Enclosed Bridge and Sky Bridge, all utilizing a spacious six-stateroom accommodation plan highlighted by a full-beam master suite. The Open and Enclosed Bridge 90 can be outfitted with a tuna tower from Palm Beach Towers (PBT), and all three models can be equipped with a custom electronics, communications and entertainment package from Atlantic Marine Electronics (AME). Both Viking subsidiaries, AME and PBT ensure turnkey delivery. The cockpit and dual mezzanine stress a sense of togetherness with a focus aft – where the action is. From the salon, a 40-inch-wide electric-powered single door opens with a touch of a button. The upper mezzanine’s port side is home to an L-shaped aft-facing lounge with available air-conditioned backrest and a teak table. On the starboard side, there’s a versatile cooking and refreshment hub (with an additional aft-facing seat) that can be personalized to the owner’s liking with a grill and icemaker or refrigerator. A large lounge on the lower mezzanine looks upon the cockpit, with its shapely fiberglass module holding storage underneath and tackle drawers on each side. The mezzanine provides centerline engine access to the crew quarters and engine-room, and is also home to an oversized freezer (port) and two refrigerated boxes (starboard). The cockpit measures 224 square feet, with a 203-gallon transom fishbox/live well and a pair of full-length 103-gallon insulated in-deck fishboxes. Access to the Seakeeper 35 is provided by a single powered hatch on centreline, a watertight design introduced with recent Viking 80 demonstrator boats, and the cockpit sole is built with reinforcement for a fighting chair, rocket launcher or table. Viking owners and enthusiasts will be enamoured with the accommodations of the new Viking 90. The combination of interior volume, a flowing open layout and several design nuances create a fresh soothing ambiance throughout the vast living spaces. Stepping into the salon, a new horizontal grain natural walnut interior greets you with warmth and style. Interior doors featuring both horizontal and vertical grains as well as ebony inlays add to the visual appeal. Guests will appreciate the spacious lounge that begins at the salon door and wraps around the port side. A starboard-side entertainment center features a 65-inch pop-up HD TV. Forward, the large starboard wraparound galley is open to a raised U-shaped dinette to port (with rod storage below). The Viking 90 offers five guest staterooms, each with its own private head and shower, crew quarters with immediate access to the engine-room, a pantry with an additional crew berth and a day head. Spanning the 23-foot, 2-inch beam, the owner’s suite boasts a king walkaround bed, a walk-in closet, a dressing table, a lounge area, a full-size credenza under a bulkhead-mounted 65-inch HD TV and his-and-hers private facilities with separate access. The Viking 90 will make her world premiere at the 2023 Miami Yacht Show.

That proficiency is particularly strong in the 50-to-60-foot sportfish boat genre, where Viking has introduced 10 models in the past two decades. This legacy fleet consists of more than 600 Vikings and includes ground-breaking models such as the 60 and 55, two renditions of the 52 Convertible and the first-generation 54. Now, the New Jersey boatbuilder reaffirms its domination of the mid-size convertible with the new Viking 54. The three-stateroom, two-head open bridge yacht pushes the owner/operator convertible to the highest levels of engineering, performance, accommodations and sportfishing capabilities. The 54 presents an eye-pleasing profile that’s unmistakably Viking, with signature design traits such as a gently sloping unbroken S-shaped sheer, aggressively raked stem, double chines, hull-side vents and deftly placed exterior feature lines. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics software, the Viking Design and Engineering Department has optimized the 54’s running surface for maximum performance. The hull is built with an engineered composite of fiberglass fabrics and coring that’s vacuum-infused with vinylester resin.  The 54’s business end offers more space than any other boat in its class. The unobstructed cockpit comes to the fishing wars with the ammunition to put you in the winner’s circle, starting with moulded non-skid on the cockpit sole for grippy footing and large scuppers to drain water quickly.  A walk-through transom door with a lift gate takes the work out of boating a trophy catch, and when you’re release-fishing, a three-foot reach to the waterline means you can quickly turn a billfish loose. Anglers will appreciate Viking’s signature rounded cockpit coamings and toe-kick for those lengthy stand-up battles. Flush rod holders, recessed stainless-steel hawse pipes and cleats keep the cockpit clear. Multiple insulated fish-boxes of various capacities increase flexibility. The raised transom box can be used as a live well, fish-box or general storage. A full-length in-deck fishbox spans the starboard side, while the port side holds two storage compartments with the forward serving as an optional live well. A mounting plate laminated into the sole will anchor the mightiest of fighting chairs, and you can also opt for a rocket launcher or table. A single centerline lazarette hatch opens nearly 90 degrees for full viewability and access to the available Seakeeper as well as the steering, trim tabs and drain pumps.  Guests will be enamored with the raised observation mezzanine as pioneered by Viking, as they watch the action in comfort, shaded by the flybridge overhang. Smart storage solutions abound, with freezer and cooler space under the mezzanine for baits and drinks and a tackle cabinet on the starboard side. The inboard portion of the mezzanine provides access to the engine-room. An anodized aluminium ladder with nonslip treads and a handrail at the top provides secure egress to the flybridge.  A streamlined walk-around center console provides 360-degree sightlines. Touchscreen electronics displays and a row of Bocatech switches with power status LED rings are flush mounted in the helm dash. Their installation and positioning heighten viewability and ease of access. A stainless steel steering wheel and single-lever electronic controls are mounted on a raised teak helm pod. Optimus Electronic Power Steering delivers precise manoeuvrability and finger-tip control. The console itself is designed with toe-kick all around for better balance and increased walking area. The helm and companion chair supply ample comfort for those long rides to the canyons, and guests can take it easy in the port or starboard lounges or forward console seat.  The 54 can be outfitted with a custom designed and fabricated Palm Beach Towers tuna tower and equipped with navigation, communication and entertainment systems from Atlantic Marine Electronics. These two Viking subsidiaries play critical roles in making Viking yachts turnkey ready. Making full use of the five meter plus beam, the 54’s layout accentuates the impressive size of her interior. The key to the configuration is the uninterrupted companionway that stretches from the starboard-side salon door all the way to the forepeak. The lounge area and galley are to port, while the dinette is to starboard. High-gloss teak or walnut is offered for the 54’s interior, and a satin finish is optional. Premium wall-to-wall carpeting and furnishings can be found throughout the climate-controlled living area. Air conditioning flows quietly from valances for comfortable cooling and thorough distribution. A hi-lo mappa burl cocktail table joins the L-shaped lounge with storage below. A TV is nested on the forward starboard bulkhead above the dinette, which is appointed with a high-gloss mappa burl table and wraparound seating for four. The galley’s peninsula countertop features engineered stone with an overhang and two convenient bar stools. The galley is feature-packed with a pair of under-counter Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezer units and storage under the peninsula counter. The opposite counter is home to a stainless steel sink with garbage disposal and an electric cooktop. The three-stateroom two-head layout includes a master suite to port with a walk-around queen berth sided by night stands and a credenza to port. There’s a large maple-lined storage area beneath the mattress, accessed via a gas piston-assisted lift-up top, and two drawers are integrated into the foot of the bed. A TV is mounted above a second credenza. A generously proportioned maple-lined hanging locker accommodates a sizeable wardrobe.  The forward stateroom comes standard with a queen berth, but also is available with a crossover berth arrangement. The starboard stateroom has upper and lower berths along with a hanging locker and storage under the lower berth. Each stateroom is fully carpeted, with dedicated temperature and stereo controls, speakers and overhead LED lighting.  The heads feature custom Amtico flooring, a lower vanity, a medicine cabinet with mirrored doors, exhaust fans, air conditioning and electric heads with holding tank and overboard discharge capabilities. Both also boast very large walk-in one-piece fiberglass showers with an expansive glass enclosure and door. Below the detachable shower head, you’ll find a convenient storage cabinet as well as an integrated fiberglass seat. The optional Man 1550hp  power hull No. 1. With this propulsion package, the Viking 54 Convertible will have an estimated cruise speed in the mid-30-knot range with a top end of 40-plus knots depending upon load, sea state and boat condition. A pair of Man 1400hp diesels are standard. All mechanicals and equipment are installed with great attention to detail in an immaculate engine-room painted with Snow White Awlgrip for visibility and ease of maintenance.

Project: Viking 54 Convertible

Following Viking's mantra to build a better boat every day, the New Jersey boat builder has consistently brought new and exciting yachts to you for 56 years. The Viking 54 Convertible will make its world premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in end October 2020.  The Viking 54 sets new milestones of innovation while integrating ideas garnered from sales and owner feedback, as well as thousands of hours logged by our Viking demo teams on the tournament trail. Now an integral part of the design process, our in-house CFD allows us to run numerous virtual sea trials to fine-tune the shape of the hull bottom for increased efficiency. The hull is built with an engineered composite of fiberglass fabrics and coring that’s vacuum-infused with vinylester resin.  The 54’s business end offers more space than any other boat in its class. The fourteen square meters unobstructed cockpit comes to the fishing wars with the ammunition to put you in the winner’s circle, starting with moulded non-skid on the cockpit sole for grippy footing and large scuppers to drain water quickly.  A walk-through transom door with a lift gate takes the work out of boating a trophy catch. And when you’re release-fishing, a three-foot reach to the waterline means you can quickly turn a billfish loose. Improve-it = Viking 58 Convertible

Considered a production yacht builder Viking takes a semi custom approach to each clients requests in all of the models it produces today from 38 to 93 feet.  So here is a story of a client who upgraded from his Viking 48 to a 58.  In a factory visit this client saw a molded stair case and inquired whether this is possible to fit in a Viking 58.  Viking responded immediately to this customer moving his build from hull number 11 to number 14.  This is not the first time Viking does something similar as they did same to a client request on a Viking 50 back in 2012.

New Model: Viking 44 ST

Creating a model within a model has been a successful path for Viking as demonstrated by the 44 Convertible, Open, and Sport Cruiser variants, which share the same hull with uniquely different deck and interior arrangements. The popularity of these new models has encouraged Viking to expand more this theme with the new 44 Sport Tower.  Using Viking five-axis profiler, the new Jersey boat builder designed and built a plug and a female mold to create a rakish fiberglass deckhouse module, fully open to the cockpit while incorporating stylish convertible window lines and a roof overhang. Built into finely tool hardtop is a pair of easily accessed rod stowage compartments. Thanks to this the Viking 44 Sport Tower offers a sharp looking rig with its fitted Palm Beach Towers tuna tower. Add a pair of outriggers and this boat is an ideal ride for the sailfish circuit, cobia hunting and cruising throughout the Bahamas.  In the eleven square meter cockpit, 44 ST sports the must have starboard mezzanine seating arrangement of the Open version. Engine room access is provided with a convenient center-line hatch that’s integral with the mezzanine seating. The ST is also engineered for the installation of a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer, which brings great stability to the vessel to increase overall comfort.  The command deck includes Viking signature and tournament-proven center-line forward helm station on a raised platform for enhanced visibility. The console holds a bank of electronics displays, and has space for engine instrumentation and other accessories. Recessed compartments accommodate radios and additional equipment, plus accessory switches and controls. A sliding off center companionway door and a large set of stairs with a starboard-side vertical handrail lead to the climate-controlled salon. With its just short of five meters beam, the widest of any boat in this class, the salon is a spacious social area for relaxing and entertaining. The starboard-side galley, which sits opposite an L-shaped lounge with a dinette table, includes teak cabinetry with meticulous joinery and fit and finish, expansive Corian counter tops, an electric range, separate under-counter refrigerator and freezer units and a microwave/convection oven. Other notable amenities include a stereo system with a 24-inch flat screen HD TV.  In the forward master stateroom, the island queen bed with mattress has a lift-up top with gas pistons and maple-lined storage underneath. There's also a maple-lined hanging locker. Air conditioning, a 19-inch flat screen television and access to the head and shower round out the standard amenities.  The head has custom Amtico flooring, a one-piece molded Corian countertop with rounded edges and a sink with a satin nickel faucet. With its two-person berth, the aft guest stateroom can accommodate another couple and makes for a nice hideaway for the kids.  Twin Man 800hp engines standard power the 44ST.

A modified vinylester resin is used in the entire hull skin. End-grain balsa and closed-cell foam are used as coring materials in selected areas for optimized strength and stiffness while minimizing weight. The single integral fiberglass fuel tank, sealed to the hull with resin foam, is resin infused with balsa coring on all sides for stiffness. The hull-to-deck joint is mechanically fastened every three inches and fiber-glassed inside. For ease of maintenance, each engine and other critical machinery is located beneath electrically-actuated hatches in the command deck area. The Billfish Open is designed and built with many of the same mechanical systems, components and technologies found on larger Vikings. Examples include the Delta-T engine-room ventilation system and a fire suppression system that’s automatically or manually operated and tied into the main engine and generator ignitions.  Running gear includes Class “S” pitch tolerance propellers with dynamic balancing and bronze struts, sea-cocks and rudders.
