Baglietto Run for Funds

Also this year Baglietto will run the Milano Relay Marathon 2018 held on April 8th to raise funds for Sport Senza Frontiere with two teams: Team Baglietto Pachamama: Laura Barcellone, Michele Gavino, Alessandro Minari and Francesco Zurlo and Team Baglietto Lucky Me: Andrea Lavagnino, Alessandro Diomedi, Nicolò Busseti and Jacopo Rizzotti.  The founds raised are going to be devolved for charity cause.  We want to give a chance to every child, even the ones who live in a difficult circumstances, to practice sports that can became an important instrument in education, for social inclusion and also for well-being of the whole community.  Education, social integration and well-being through sport represents the main goal of the Onlus we would like to contribute to: Sport Senza Frontiere Onlus (SSF).  Last year Baglietto did great by reaching out the target of 3.000 euros

Baglietto Main Sponsor of Arena Berthona 2018

Baglietto, historic shipyard based in La Spezia owned by the Gavio Group, will be this year the main sponsor of the important events organized by Arena Derthona, a reality active for nine years in the Tortona area born with the aim of promote cultural initiatives giving new impetus to local development.  The official opening of the kermesse next April 30th, with the celebration of the International Jazz Day promoted by Unesco and sponsored by: Regione Piemonte, Municipality of Tortona, Fondazione CR Tortona, Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo, and by MIBACT which will see as a highlight of the day the concert by Fabio Concatoin a jazz key hosted by the Teatro Civico di Tortona.  The Festival which has already hosted in the past editions international artists such as Chick Corea, Stefano Bollani, Raphael Gualazzi, Anastacia, Burt Bacharach, Esperanza Spalding, Franco Battiato, Francesco De Gregori, Cesare Cremonini, Nina Zilli, Caparezza, Subsonica, Hiromi , Simon Philliphs, Anthony Jackson - will continue animating the heart of the summer, from 16 to 22 July , proposing a high profile musical and artistic review (whose program is being finalized).  Arena Derthona, thanks to the support of Baglietto, strengthens its organizational structure, becoming a broader cultural project to live all year round where art, in all its forms, becomes the preferred means for the creation of a inclusive aggregation space in the territorial landscape in which it is located.

Bavaria Forty Years

40 years ago, the entrepreneur Winfried Herrmann began building boats in the Franconian town of Giebelstadt in southern Germany. And this in an entirely new manner. He was the first in Germany to introduce a modern assembly line production to boatbuilding: „The days of handmade boats are numbered,“ he said at the time. In much the same way, he had already transformed his original company, the window production company “HeHa” that he ran together with business partner Georg Haubner, from a simple workshop into an industrial type production unit for plastic windows. At the height of commercial success, the two asked themselves what else could be manufactured from plastic.  Watersports was booming in those years. GRP had already established itself as the main boatbuilding material, but the majority of boats were made abroad and imported. Here, the two businessmen saw their chance. At the "Interboot" boat show, the completely new "Bavaria" yachts were presented to the public for the first time. Two modern sailing boats, one seven, the other eight meters long. Both had raised foredecks which comparatively gave them a lot of space below deck, completely in the sense of the Bavaria Yachts motto at that time "better living at sea!" But also, the new yacht builders proved themselves to be innovative and, for example, carried out customer surveys on the boat fairs or tried to supply their customers also with suitable marina berths in which to base their new boats.  These boats met the contemporary taste but were also always a bit less expensive than the competitors. The boats became more and more developed over the coming years. Bavaria Yachts always employed the services of the best designers and experts and this is true to this day. Current examples of this are the large sailing yachts of the new C-Line that re-define the world of cruising yachts. Or the recently introduced motor yachts that combine luxury and economy. Not to forget the Bavaria catamarans that, with their “Open”-concept, are also setting new standards.  Already in 1979, a new 5,000-square metre production facility for the yacht building was inaugurated. At the same time, the designer Axel Monhaupt was appointed as “house designer”. Soon, five boats per week were leaving the assembly line. A lot when compared to traditional yacht-building but not so many as were still to come. In the 1980s, the yacht and charter agent Josef Meltl joined Bavaria Yachts and added valuable market expertise that was also instrumental for the successful entry into the charter market that was to follow very soon.  Then, things developed at a fast pace. From 1992 on, JamdJ Design from Slovenia designed the new models. The design team that was still fresh and young at the time had nevertheless already made a name for itself with fast racing yachts. In 2000, Bavaria Yachts successfully launched their first motor-boats. Two years later, the yard was once more enlarged, from then 16,000 to now 71,000 square metres. By now, Bavaria Yachts was building 2,000 boats per year. This was made possible by the sophisticated production. Just as one example: It was agreed with the suppliers that the engines would arrive unpacked, and with the gear-box already bolted on. There was no need to unpack and assemble the engines at the yard, where they were lifted straight into the boats and bolted down in place.  In 2014, Bavaria Yachts also entered the multi-hull market with the purchase of the French catamaran manufacturer Nautitech. In 2015, the Bavaria Nautitech 46 Open was launched as the first catamaran newly developed under Bavaria Yachts.  The rational production developed by company founder Herrmann still is at the core of the company, but in recent years it has been considerably refined, for example by introducing the state-of-the-art vacuum infusion technology or the modular building of interiors. In this way, more individualized customer wishes can now be realized. Bavaria yachts today have come a long way since the early models: more individual and with much higher demands in terms of design, functionality, comfort and quality.  Since 2015, CEO Lutz Henkel is at the helm of Bavaria Yachts. Under his management, the new motor-yachts like the Bavaria R-line were developed and the Italian designer Maurizio Cossutti created the large Bavaria C57 sailing yacht. She was introduced in 2017 as the first of a new generation of cruisers, called C-Line, that now also includes the Bavaria C45, C50 and C65. The very impressive Bavaria Yachts flagship, the Bavaria C65, was presented in January 2018.  This anniversary year holds some very special offers for all Bavaria Yachts customers.

Beneteau Adds New Memeber to Marketing Team

Beneteau is pleased to announce the appointment of Luc Joëssel, who has joined the Sailing Yacht Product Marketing department. Luc Joëssel joined the Gianguido Girotti team, on 26 March, as Performance Sailing Yacht Product Manager. Luc Joëssel is 45 years old and has 20 years of experience in the nautical industry. Before joining Beneteau, Luc was a pillar of North Sails, in Vannes. In just 15 years, this sailmaker became a centre of excellence in the production of racing sails. Before this, he started his career with the gear suppliers Spinlock, in England. In the year 2000, he joined North Sails and soon became the sails advisor for the Tour de France à la Voile and the Figaro Bénéteau 2 class. He worked alongside champions such as Armel Le Cléac’h, Gildas Morvan and Nicolas Troussel and was instrumental in their success in these races. Then, more recently, he improved his skills in communication, as a European Marketing Manager for two years. “I am delighted to welcome Luc”, said Gianguido Girotti, “his experience and his specialist knowledge of the world of sailing and ocean racing will greatly contribute to the deployment of the new Performance Sailing Yacht lines by Beneteau“.

Benetti Yacht Master 2018

The Italian leg recently drew to a close of the 2018 Benetti Yachtmaster, the three-day event organised by Benetti for superyacht captains, attended by over 200 professionals from the yachting world. After welcoming over 1,000 participants from over 40 different nations in its previous 17 editions, from February 7 to 9 Benetti Yachtmaster paid a call on Castelfalfi, a medieval town in the Tuscan hills. The Italian event for 2018 confirmed everyone’s expectations and was one of the best attended gatherings of industry professionals, organised by a private shipyard, to bring captains and crew up to speed on all the novelties in the world of Benetti and at the same time offer a series of panel discussions and networking opportunities. Against the backdrop of Toscana Resort Castelfalfi, opportunities to meet at the event were organised in alternation with others for team building, attended by over 200 people, mostly superyacht captains, but also engineers, industry operators, journalists and suppliers of crew and onboard services. The event opened with an important presentation by Benetti General Manager Christos Ramnialis, who gave a heartfelt and engaging speech in which he described Benetti’s growth strategies and how Yachtmaster plays a key role in them. He took pains to stress how “Yachtmaster has become, year after year, an essential part of Benetti’s development strategy. Tackling subjects such as training for captains and their crew has the twin benefit both of helping professionals who must keep up-to-date to offer efficient service, and of helping Benetti learn about the perspective of captains and crew. This constant feedback is what allows us to grow and improve.”  There was a packed programme of workshops and conferences at the event, with speakers who provided interesting food for thought on the subjects of charter guidelines in the Mediterranean Sea and social security contributions for seamen in France. Participants included not only crew members, project managers, surveyors and owners’ representatives, but also customers of Lusben and Fraser Yachts, the world’s leading yacht service provider.  The most successful workshop based on its popularity was about “Cyber Security”, featuring a fascinating demonstration by international cyber security expert Cal Leeming. With the help of moderator Fiorenzo Spadoni, Italy Yachting Centre Manager for Rina Services, Leeming demonstrated the precarious state of cyber security, as implemented by the technology-based devices that should facilitate our daily lives, and how saving passwords, bank codes and confidential information in the digital memory of these devices always creates a risk for privacy. Another workshop popular with the public was “Leading Millennials”, with Karen Passman from Impact Crew and captain Luca Triggiani in the roles respectively of moderator and panelist. The aim of the seminar was to promote the culture of the sea and a maritime career with the youngest crew members.  Extremely useful, as always, were the B2B meetings, involving live demonstrations organised with official partners Awlgrip, Boero, Jotun, Rolls-Royce, Slam, Viraver, Sevenstar, Dockwise and Peninsula Petroleum and official sponsors Cgt, CMC Marine, Fraser Yachts, Lusben, Valletta superyacht, Mtu, Naiad Dynamics, Rina, Sea Sat Com, Team Italia and Yachtique. The classic ‘live’ moment this year was dedicated to interviews given by three captains to three trade journalists about their life and working experiences. Maria Grazia Franco, the captain of a Benetti Veloce 140’, was interviewed by Justin Ratcliffe and explained to the public what it means to contribute firsthand to the process of building a new yacht. Roberto Cuomo, the captain of M/Y Skyler, the third Fast 125’ unit built in collaboration with Rolls-Royce, offered insights based on his vast experience and technical knowledge about a high technology yacht. Finally, Ed and Mary Krieg, respectively captain and chief engineer, presented an interesting photo report on their storied career sailing around the world on board a Benetti Classic.  The Castelfalfi event was also attended by Benetti Delfino 93’ owner and SeaNet CEOMatty Zadnikar, who commented: “Extending the invitation to owners was a brilliant idea by Benetti. A close knowledge of the boat, its secrets and its peculiarities is the prerogative of captains and crew, but it is also very useful for owners, who clearly play a very important role in managing a yacht and often don’t have time to keep up-to-date with the latest novelties. Events like Yachtmaster help to build closer and more productive ties between shipyard, owner and crew, as well as to gain a better understanding of owners’ needs.”  Roy Deas, who works on the M/Y Jazz of Monaco (a Benetti Tradition) and is one of the youngest Benetti captains, said: “This is a key event, because it offers both an opportunity for crew members to meet, as well as giving people a chance to share opinions and experiences, and likewise to learn new details about Benetti growth strategies.”

Ferretti Group Convergence 2018

Ferretti Group chose the fascinating city of Dubai as the setting for the 2018 edition of "Convergence", a training event for about a hundred boating professionals from all over the world. The traditional meeting, with professional training and refresher courses that the Ferretti Group dedicates to the captains and chief engineers working on the yachts in its fleet, took place in the pearl of the United Arab Emirates, where tradition meets innovation, from March 3 to 6. The goal of the four-day event was to deepen with the audience technical topics relating to the complexity of use, the maintenance and the functionality of Ferretti Group boats, involving the participants in active debates on current issues of the sector. The classroom sessions, built according to an interactive and engaging format, through the active role of the audience and the use of live surveys, were focused on the following topics:“Yacht Data Integration in Dashboard Electronics IoT and Cybersecurity” with the participation of the main sponsors Team Italia, Naviop-Simrad, Volvo e Rina; “Yacht Painting - Innovation and Maintenance” with the participation of the main sponsors Boero e Rina; “New Regulations on Emissions and Exhausts IMO3” with the participation of the main sponsors MTU, Volvo e Rina. All the panels were moderated by Stefano De Vivo, Chief Commercial Officer of Ferretti Group, and Ferretti Group technicians were involved too, adding further value to the experience of 94 participants. On the second day, after the educational sessions, the guests measured themselves with a dynamic and entertaining treasure hunt set first in Bastakiya, the ancient district of Dubai, then in the Jumeirah mosque, and finally reached the city of Habtoor, opposite at the New Dubai Canal. The grand finale, sponsored by the main partners, took place on the 5th March in the Arabic desert. Participants, divided into teams, fought in 6 different disciplines, from obstacle course to sandboarding, in the Desert VIP Camp. The "Convergence dinner", a magical dinner under the stars and surrounded by the panorama of the Al Awir Desert, sealed the end of the intense wonderful day. The Group’s technical partners took part every day with dedicated corners: H&B technics, Indemar with the Ocean LED and Kenyon brands, Seakeeper e Videoworks. The winning group received their award on the final day and participation certificates were handed out.

Invictus and Anna Fendi Celebrate New Partnership

Italian spirit, creativity, pursuit of beauty, constant move to innovation – these are thekeywords that perfectly illustrate the concepts merging Invictus Yacht and Anna Fendi, two word-class representatives of Italian success across the globe, here in a joint project for the very first time. Still “under wraps”, this confidential project will be revealed during an exclusive event in Milan on March 23rd,. The venture arose from their common desire to create a boat able to reflect the vast experience of Christian Grande, one of the most highly quoted Italian yacht designers, and that of Anna Fendi, stylist and entrepreneur famous for her professional and personal creativity.  “Last year I was at Villa Laetitia, the Fendi family’s residence in Rome,” said Christian Grande, “sketching the lines for a design in my personal little notebook that I always have with me. Nordhavn PAE Celebrates Forty Years of Buisness

Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. is pleased to announce the celebration of its 40th anniversary as a company. Maritimo USA Jump

Economic conditions in the USA under the Trump regime are proving positive for the boating industry with strong enquiry at the recent Miami International Boat Show, according to Australia's iconic luxury cruiser manufacturer, Maritimo.  Maritimo sent a team of executives to the recent Miami show and its four-boat display attracted strong interest with several sales under negotiation.  Maritimo's International Sales and Marketing Manager, Greg Haines, said the overall atmosphere and feel at the show was very positive and he expected this to continue to flow through at the Palm Beach International Boat Show starting on March 22.  "Numbers were up in Miami, but more importantly the people who were there were strong prospects and deals will definitely come from the show," he said.  "Our S51 and M51 models were a hit with the Miami attendees and our USA based dealer partner, Galati Yacht Sales, is currently finalising negotiations with several expected purchasers."  Haines said on the business front the Trump initiated tax cuts were having a positive impact and 'people were spending'.  Maritimo will have three boats on display at Palm Beach, the M and S51's and an M54. The Palm Beach International Boat Show is in its 32nd year and will see more than $1.2 billion dollars worth of vessels ranging from eight feet to more than 150 feet displayed. It is one of the three largest on water boat shows in the world.  "We have struck on a winner with the M and S51 models as they are appealing to the boarder overall market being not too big and not too small so easy for a boating couple of own and operate," he said.  "The full beam master suites add the wow factor and then the day to day maintenance and operational benefits of low angle shaft drives with diesel power and walk around decks complete the package.  "We were also getting very positive feedback on the standard of our fit outs and finishes and the overall build quality. " Being Australian and having a reputation for taming tough cruising conditions adds to Maritimo's appeal with Americans." Maritimo has recently expanded its Gold Coast based manufacturing plant to cater for increased production and expects a large portion of its overall annual build to be exported to the USA.  Haines said the next big litmus test for the health of the Australian market would be the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May.

Overmarine Mangusta New Area Manager

Princess Support Exxpedition

EXXpedition North Pacific 2018 is a pioneering all-female sailing expedition and scientific research mission starting in Hawaii on 23rd June and ending in Seattle via Vancouver this summer led by British skipper and ocean advocate Emily Penn. They will sail the North Pacific Gyre on a pioneering journey to investigate the crisis of plastics in our oceans with a focus on micro-plastics and links to environmental and human health, eXXpedition North Pacific 2018 aims to make the unseen, seen.  "I am really pleased to confirm Princess' commitment to pushing for change in the consumption of plastics, and to limit the impact we have as the world's leading luxury yacht manufacturer in this regard. Kiran Haslam, Marketing Director, Princess Yachts Limited.  The expedition aims to: raise awareness of the devastating impact of single-use plastic and toxics in the world's oceans; celebrate women in science, leadership and adventure; create a community of female change-makers and inspiring global ambassadors to tackle the environmental and health impacts of plastic pollution; and champion and contribute to innovative scientific research to tackle the crisis. eXXpedition, the British Community Interest Company behind North Pacific 2018, specialises in all-women sailing expeditions. This is their 10th eXXpedition voyage and the first in the North Pacific Gyre. It has the endorsement and support of the UN Environment Clean Seas initiative and Ocean Wise.  During the month long voyage, the crew will make daily trawls for plastics and pollutants, and collect data for a variety of global datasets and scientific research studies. The eXXpedition crew is made up of scientists, students, artists, filmmakers, business women, psychologists, actors, ocean activists and sustainability professionals, and novice as well as experienced sailors. In addition to this project, Princess are delighted to continue their support for the ground-breaking work carried out by the Marine Conservation Society of which a campaign to reduce plastic waste is a top priority.  According to the Marine Conservation Society, a study produced by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation produced some truly disturbing conclusions: the equivalent of one entire truck of plastic (8 tonnes) is dumped in the sea every minute and, if we don't change things, by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish (by weight) in the sea.  The ongoing collaboration sees the two brands working closely together on a series of initiatives to help safeguard both UK waters and specific projects across the world, raising money for essential conservation work and driving awareness amongst Princess customers on the importance of protecting their playground.

Pursuit Honored by South Florida Manufacturing Association

Pursuit Boats was honored to receive Runner Up for Manufacturer of the Year by the South Florida Manufacturing Association. Each year SFMA celebrates business excellence by recognizing both individuals and companies demonstrating superior manufacturing techniques. Pursuit Boats was nominated by the St. Lucie County EDC and was among 83 nominees considered for an award in South Florida. Eighteen finalists were chosen in four categories. Companies must be nominated for the Manufacturer of the Year award which is organized by categories determined by the number of employees in the workforce. The evaluation process consists of an initial phone interview, followed by a site visit if the company advances to the Semi-Final round. During the site visit, the examination team will tour, observe, and ask questions related to the 2018 evaluation criteria. “Pursuit has earned a reputation among marine manufacturers for delivering one of the highest quality products on the market. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our employees that make that happen. Following the successful Miami debut of the new SX88 crossover yacht specifically tailored for the Americas, Palm Beach Boat Show 2018 was the perfect occasion to present the new Sanlorenzo Americas team.  The American Representative that, through a direct presence, has been able to strengthen the brand image in North and South America in the past 10 years, announces the appointment of Marco Segato as new Vice President of Sales of Sanlorenzo Americas. Thanks to the important roles played in strategic consulting and business development, and to his long-standing experience in the boat industry, Segato represents the right person to strengthen and enhance the objectives that Sanlorenzo Americas achieved, aiming to new ambitious results.  “I am proud to be representing Sanlorenzo in a strategic market like the Americas, reinforcing and further valuing a leadership devoted to product and style innovation, outstanding client service and unique ability to perceive and meet the specificities of this market. Sanlorenzo Takes Over International Markets

A true excellence in the nautical world, Sanlorenzo has experienced, throughout the 2000s, a steady growth that has allowed it to climb the world rankings positioning itself in the top places for the production of yachts over 24 meters.  Data from 2017 confirm this positive trend, registering the sale of 6 superyachts and 41 yachts (+30% compared with data from 2016). Sanlorenzo’ s unique approach, aimed at a continuous search for unique and innovative solutions, has allowed it to achieve important results, shown by the success of the new yacht crossover SX88 with sales volume amounting today to a total of 13 units, the third of which has been launched in these days.  A significant result less than one year after the official presentation of the line, which took place on the occasion of Cannes Yachting Festival 2017.

Viking 54th Anniversary

April 1 marks the 54th Anniversary of the Viking Yacht Company. On this date in 1964 co-founders and brothers Bill and Bob Healey opened the doors of the Viking Yacht Company. While it was not easy in the early days crafting boats from wood, the Healey brothers were eager for the challenge and in it for the long haul. Today Viking is the world's number one builder of boats ranging from 37 to 93 feet. With almost 5,000 Vikings built over the past 54 years, there are legions of stories about the boats, the people who built them and the people who own them, and the memories will continue as we begin the next chapters of Viking excellence.  With a full order book, a recently introduced 68 Convertible and more new models waiting in the wings, Viking is enjoying the view from the top of the mountain where it plans to stay. While Bill and Bob are still regular fixtures at the New Gretna, New Jersey, facility, Bill's son Patrick is the President and CEO leading the charge. Pat's counterpart is Bob's son Bob Jr., who runs Viking Associates which is the commercial real estate and investment side of the businesses.

Viking Masters

A tradition unlike any other, the Viking Yacht Company is proud of our Master's Program. We are pleased to tout the strongest dealer network in the world and in order to maintain it, we are committed to invest in our authorized dealers. Throughout the year our dealer principals and sales representatives are invited to our New Jersey manufacturing facility. They are encouraged to spend a few days with us onsite for interactive, hands-on training. Viking's Sales Department hosts this Master's Program and takes the teams through the build process, discusses new technology and demonstrates features unique to our product. It's also a great opportunity to receive feedback on our boats so we can continue to build a better boat every day. The team from Bluewater Yacht Sales was here earlier this week and had a fantastic visit.

Viking Master Champion

Dale Creamer schooled the fleet! Congratulations on your 2nd win at The Masters! Dale won his first Master Angler Championship in 2015 and just did it again while fishing the event in Costa Rica. The Masters is a unique tournament that pits the top anglers against each other while embracing a historic past dating back to 1963. It was John Rybovich's dream of a contest that levels the playing field and crowns an angler for his ability to hook, catch and release an Atlantic Sailfish, not how well his boat and crew performs. This event rewards anglers for catching these fish quickly and penalizes them for pulling too hard and breaking lines. In short, The Masters tests an angler's skill, and only an angler's skill, the true test of a champion. Viking at 7th Annual Jimmy Johnson National Billfish Championship

"It's a chance to be part of the best," says Event Host, and legendary football coach Jimmy Johnson. And the Viking 60 Sea Hawk certainly was! Battling it out amongst a fleet of 76 boats, Captain Marcos Zamudio put his anglers on the fish and landed in 3rd place overall on the leaderboard with 10 sailfish. Scott Burke was the Top Male Angler with five releases.

Viking and the Flu

Over 600 flu shots were distributed to Viking Yacht Company employees this season. Viking's Medical Department is focused on the health and well being of every employee, as each is an integral part of the boat building team. Flu shots are just one aspect of Viking's proactive healthcare and wellness initiatives for employees that were started over thirty years ago.  Routine mammography and ultrasound screening have long been provided along with internal medicine, nutritional counseling, optometry and mental health services onsite. In today's busy world many people don't have the time to squeeze in appointments, so Viking makes it easy for employees. The new Mullica facility is now mirroring the original New Gretna site with their strides in health as a first priority. The Medical Department's next step is Electronic Medical Records which will allow the team to efficiently track data over time, monitor parameters, and improve overall quality of care. Wim Van der Valk Record Numbers at Experience Event
Held between 22 and 25 March, the annual Van der Valk Experience Event was a great success. Ther state-of-the-art yachtbuilding facilities in Waalwijk (NL) welcomed hundreds of guests and visitors over the four days, beating the record numbers seen last year. Many people said how impressed they were with the brand-new 42-meter construction hall, which was looking great for the occasion. There was good food and music for all, while a number of new and potential clients took the chance to have personal meetings with designers Guido de Groot and Cor de Rover and naval architect Jaron Ginton to explore possible future builds.  However, as is always the case at the Experience Event, the true stars were undoubtedly the various yachts we had on display. Visitors clearly enjoyed having the chance to see at first hand no less than nine Van der Valk boars at various stages of construction. Highlights included a brand new 32-metre Raised Pilothouse as well as the first two hulls in the innovative new BeachClub line.  The BeachClub boats offer an unprecedented amount of space indoors and out, and are sure to make a great impression at next years’ Experience Event when completed.

Project: Lynx YXT 36 Luxury Edition

Lynx Yachts from Nijkerk Holland continue to pursue the success of the YXT line and present the project for a 36 meter.  The Lynx 36 will be available in two versions; Luxury Edition and Sailing Support.  As the name says the Luxury Edition will feature luxurious amenities, while the Sailing Support is a super sized tender for super yachts or a sea side villa or resort.  The Lynx YXT 36 is designed by Bern Weel and is classified to RINA commercial class.  Power for Yacht X-Tender 36 m will come from twin Cats 1015hp which give max speeds up to seventeen knots.  Standard accommodation details offer four double guest accommodations, and four crew cabins.  Owner and guest living and dining is located on the main deck, while an intermediate deck between lower and main offers the galley and crew lobby.  The Lynx YXT line has been a success for the Dutch builder selling two YXT 24, and one twenty meter unit in just a couple of years.

New Model: Greenline 65 OceanClass

Since Greenline arrived in the scene in 2008 with the 33 Hybrid it has always been about being different to the competition, and the theme continues in the new hybrid explorer motor yacht 65 OceanClass.  The Greenline 65 OceanClass is less different to what was the 33 is versus other ten meter cruisers, but the hull shape, and other details still show a hybrid capable of doing what a standard twenty meter flybridge yacht is capable to do with that little bit of extra.  Jemej and Japec Jacopin have made a striking looking motor yacht with features and interesting performance numbers.  The 65 OceanClass offers internal accommodation to boot with the standard for this size of a living all the dedicated on the split level interior saloon, and a three double cabin lower deck layout.  Power offers a wide choice to the customer from twin standard Cats 715hp, and go to optional 1000hp or 1150hp engines.

Project: Spencer Yachts 50

Spencer Yachts from North Carolina continues to show its innovative spirit and present the project of this currently in build 50 feet model.  A fully enclosed three part hard top design the new Spencer 50 will break the mold for having the lowest draft ever possible on this size type sportfish yacht, thanks to the use of water jet type propulsion.  The hull of the Spencer Yacht 50 Jet Powered has just been completed and she is to be powered by twin 1000hp Cat engines, with owners currently deciding for the interior layout.  Completion is scheduled for the second half of 2018.

New Model: Carver C34 Coupe

Carver's new C34 Coupe is designed for new generation boaters.  Presenting itself as the new entry level cruiser in Carver's successful C range, the C34 continues the family feeling of an all around motor cruiser, fully enclosed as introduced with the C34 Fly in the end of 2012.  Since then Carver has not looked back and has updated all the model range around that model.  The Carver C34 Coupe is the new statement and presents itself as a sport cruiser sleeping six in a four plus two arrangement, with galley up layout.  Power for the Carver C34 Coupe comes from standard twin Mercruiser 250hp gas petrol engines with Bravo Three stern drive propulsion.  Options exist for bigger Mercruiser engines up to 350hp in gas petrol, or diesel of 260hp and 335hp engines.

Project: Zeelander Z55 Corniche

Zeelander has aspiring plans for the year 2018.  The shipyard’s expertise is today extending far beyond sixteen meter yachts and this is now the time to unveil a new exciting model, the lovely Zeelander Z55 is about to get a “topless” sister, the Corniche variant.  Zeelander Yachts named her after the enchanting seaside road that runs from Saint Jean Cap Ferrat in France to Monaco.  The all-new Zeelander Z55 Corniche adds cabriolet flair on top of the other unbeatable features from the hard top standard Z55.  Zeelaner has not given much information about the Z55 Corniche but being it based on the standard Z55 it should offer a similar two spacious cabins lower deck plan, with living on the main deck. Engines on the standard hard top Z55 are standard Volvo 725hp, optical 800hp, 900hp, and 1000hp units being available.  Propulsion for all engines is Volvo dual propeller forward looking IPS pod drives.

Web: Fountain Pajot New Web Site

French catamaran builder Fountaine Pajot presents its new world wide web site. This French boat builder who since its early years concentrated its production on catamarans first of sail and later on in 1998 to fuel engines powered models was founded in 1976, on the coast of La Rochelle by the Olympic competitor Jean-Francois Fountaine . The first Fountaine Pajot was a 505 dinghy with four persons doing the job. Two years pass and a new yard is purchased in Aigrefeuille, and two further dinghy models are introduced the 420, and 470. In 1980 Fountaine Pajot alters course and builds the first prototype half toner IOR Racer which will become World Champion, and take the Figaro solo race establishing an important name in Ocean racing. But it will be 1981 which marks an important turn around for Fountaine Pajot when it builds its first multi hull yacht with the 18 meter racing trimaran the Royal which was entirely built in foam core sandwich for Lois Caradec, and Philippe Facque. This is followed in 1983 with the first production built catamaran also in foam core sandwich construction and a design to Joubert and Nivelt, the 37 Louisiane which will go on to sell 55 units. After the first production model is launched more will follow with the second model the 26 Corneel designed by Eric Bruneel taking Boat of the Year by Bateaux Magazine. Another important step occurs in 1990 with Fountaine Pajot recruiting architect Olivier Flahault, who still as today designs most of Fountaine Pajot models. 1998 marks the first engine only Trawler Catamarans range first with the 37 Maryland sold in 78 units, and then followed by the 34 Greenland in 2000. Fountaine Pajot continues to advance in technology and standards and in 1999 it gets ISO9002 version 1994 certification, which is followed by its first infusion constructed 40 Lavezzi model in 2002. Todays Fountaine Pajot offers a total of ten models in two ranges starting from the power 37 Catamaran Motor Yacht, to the still in project 67 from the sailing range.  Fountaine Pajot largest ever built is the 80 Taiti. New Model: Overmarine Mangusta 46 Oceano

Overmarine reinforces its presence in the long range displacement segment, launching in March the first unit of the Mangusta 46 Oceano, the third displacement unit to hit the water in just two years from the Tuscany located yacht and super yacht builder.  High on-board comfort and balance between indoor and outdoor spaces: the Mangusta 46 Oceano range is marked by an exclusive combination of the brand’s key values, applied to the long range three-decked super yachts. The product philosophy is expressed in its great habitability, the ergonomics, and the spaces dedicated to the owner, to the guests, and to the crew. Project: Pershing 170

During the Miami 2018 boat show the Ferretti Group presented three important projects concerning the future for three of its brands.  For Pershing it is turn for a new 170 flagship project with a rendering showing a very particular design.  As all the Pershing the 170 is again a design to the designer who penciled all models since the brand was born, Fulvio de Simoni.  The famous Italian designer went for an aggressive look with a two and a half deck design, this including a very integrated pilot house and the main and second deck feeling very much as one from the outside.  It might be that in this design he possibly did inspire a bit himself to some models of Palmer Johnson Supersport series.  Currently Pershing largest model to date has been the 115, with a 140 project presented in late 2015 currently in construction and scheduled for a delivery in this 2018 calendar year.

New Model: Steeler NG 65 S

Steeler Yachts from Holland has started the delivery of new motor yachts for this season with their largest build to date touching the water last week, the NG 65 S-line.  Noting her beautiful design, the in-house design team also developed a solution for wheelchair accessibility, with transfer on both port and starboard of the hull and the hydraulic lift placed midships being examples of the many challenges Steeler turns into solutions.  This S-line is built in steel and features a twin propulsion for a cruising speed that far exceeds the hull speed of the yacht. CE A certification and a Magnus Master stabilization system ensure safe and comfortable long range journeys.  The patented S-line bow enables extremely efficient fuel consumption and a minimization of spray water due to the sharp entry angle and the high flared bow.  The wheelhouse of NG 65 S is surrounded by double insulated and curved glass, allowing for undisturbed panoramic views. The interior features four bedrooms and three bathrooms for a total sleeping capacity of nine guests.  For the last week of March 2018 Steeler will commence sea trials in the Northsea for the NG 65 S, after which the proud owner will take delivery of his new yacht.

Project: Hatteras GT45X Open

During the 2018 Hatteras presented project details for the fourth version of the GT45X, the Open variant.  The Hatteras 45X Open will present itself as the name itself without the three part hard top of the standard version.  Current entry model of the Hatteras range, the GT45X is proving to be a popular model in the Carolina located builders fleet.  The GT45X is offered in two or one cabin bigger saloon lower deck accommodation choices.  Standard power is for twin Cat 850hp engines with line shaft propulsion.

New Model: I.C. Yacht 18m Brave

I.C. Yacht 18m Brave proves to be a Swiss knife type yacht, multi purpose with a lot of day use functionality in its design.  A lot of what is going on in the eighteen meter Brave happens outside; big central sun-pad, L-shaped dinette, and central console type helm station.  Deck movement on the Brave is also very easy thanks to deep walk around style side bulwarks, and a fore-deck sun pad which converts into another take your aperitif and watch the view style dinette.  Below the first unit of 18m Brave featured an apartment style accommodation with midships full beam cabin with en-suite, L-shaped dinette, L-shaped galley, and forward guest shower head.  Power for the I.C. Yacht 18 Brave is from twin Volvo 625hp and or 725hp engines with IPS pod type propulsion.

Project: Bertram 50

While Bertram continues to enjoy success with the 35 it launched in 2016, and its over ten units so far delivered all around the globe, the legendary name continues to look forward not only with the launch of the 61 planned for later on in 2018, but with this new 50 project.  So far Bertram is being very tight lipped about the Bertram 50 project.  What we can see and understand is that she will be a three part hard top sportfish yacht looking to compete in this ever growing segment.  The design of this new model is full of praise for the old Bertram see shear line, while the coach roof and hard top hint to a conservative look.

Project: Otam 85 GTS

Otam with more than sixty years of power boating experience is proud to present its new 85 GTS, the result of the Italian yard’s research after the success of its iconic 80 HT.  The project was developed with long-standing partner Umberto Tagliavini’s and in collaboration with Niccolò Pasquini and Alessio Riccobaldi from R+P Architecture studio, the latter already working on further Otam Custom Range models. For the first time, the owner of an Otam may choose between several configurations for the bow area, including the possibility of a lounge and coffee table or a spacious sunbathing area.  The result is a flexible Open that offers the maximum in comfort both while underway and at anchor.  The special supercar inspired gullwing hardtop, with a structure based on a central spine, while underway with the wings lowered give a sense of complete protection with very little turbulence, and when at anchor all you have to do is raise the two wings to feel in close contact with surrounding nature.  This sensation is amplified by the open transom that allows for easy and safe access to the water and by the bow area that provides another place to use as either a dining or sunbathing zone, always with the maximum level of comfort and privacy. Confirming the intention of Otam not to limit either the aesthetic or technical customization possibilities, the yard lets the owner choose all the details and customize in pure Otam DNA every part of the boat, from the interior layout to every single particular.  Comfort is linked to the sportive character inherent in Otam’s DNA with the two propulsion options: twin 2600hp MTU engines for a top speed of 45 knots and a 35 knot cruising speed, or twin 1925hp CAT engines for a top speed of 38 knots and a cruising speed of 32 knots. Both options use Arneson surface drive propulsion for the best in efficiency.

New Model: Innovazioni Progetti 35 Open

Innovazioni Progetti from Ravenna on North East side of Italy is back reinventing itself with new models and updating some of the successes it had in the first decade of 2000 millennium.  The Innovazioni Progetti 35 Open is part of the later being an update of the successful 34.  For this new version Innovazioni Progetti redesigned the interior and exterior, now looking more sleek and presenting the first unit without a radar arch, and an extended bathing platform. The exterior layout has also been reinvented.  The interior has been soft touched now becoming more modern and minimal.  Power for the new Innovazioni Progetti 35 Open is from twin Volvo 300hp engines with dual propeller stern drive propulsion which give top speeds up to 35 knots.

Project: Uniesse 60 MY

Uniesse continues to present future projects aimed to make it the name for your motor yacht to be build.  Here Uniesse is showing some preliminary details about its 60 Motor Yacht model, one of six models part of this flybridge range which will start at 55 and go up to 85 feet.  A flybridge motor yacht model, the 60 MY will challenge in the competitive eighteen meter segment.  The Uniesse 60 MY presents itself as a conservative exterior looking flybridge motor yacht with a spacious three double guest cabin three bathroom accommodation layout.  A crew cabin with twin bunk berths is to be located aft.  Another interesting design feature for the Uniesse 60 MY will be the single floor main deck area.  No power or performance details are advised for the Uniesse 60 MY, what we know so far from the technical plans is that it will be direct shaft propulsion.

New Model: Greenline 39

Greenline present the new 39 model.  Introduced first as a 36 project, the Greenline 39 is a design from JandJ from Slovenia, the designers of all the models from the Slovenian firm.  The Greenline 39 as all the models from the firm is a hybrid hull design with best efficiency delivered at the medium pace ten to fifteen knots speed.  Greenline as the name suggests continues its momentum on building a better hybrid yacht, with solar panels integrated into the hard-top and ten kw electric propulsion making way for environmentally clean boating.  Inside the Greenline is a modem cruiser having a living and galley with the favored astern layout all located on the main deck, and two cabins located below deck.  Power for the Greenline is from a standard single Volvo 220hp, and with optional 370hp unit available.

Project: Galeon 680 Fly

Galeon 680 Fly will debut later on in 2018 extending the line of the third generation flybridge motor yachts models and introducing some exciting new features to the segment. With a powerful, yet elegant frame designed by long standing Galeon designer Tony Castro it is sure to turn heads in amazement. Engine: Steyr SEC 4-Cylinder 175hp

With its new SEC 4-cylinder engine series, system solution specialist Steyr Motors a pioneer in the mono-block engine segment, drives engineering advances in the marine sector. The essential benefits, on the one hand, include the compact design, and power-to-weight ratio, but also the long service life and operational reliability of the mono-block engine. On the other, by ensuring greater efficiency, smooth and quiet operation, as well as lower emissions the common rail fuel injection technology with sustainable assert the SEC 4-cylinder engine's position in the market.  Notable improvements regarding the efficiency of the combustion process development work to meet future emission regulations, will drive investment in common rail technology while at the same time facilitating the current balancing act between power and emissions. Project: Jarrett Bay 110

Fresh on the launching of their largest and most advanced custom build to date, Jarrett Bay never stops looking forward to what could be next. Even with a full lineup of five hulls under construction and at least one more on the immediate horizon, Jarrett Bay engineers and draftsmen have been busy dreaming up another monster build, for a 110 sportfish superyacht.  Super Sportfish Yachts are a growing trend to come and once the eighty foot barrier was broken in both production and custom builders the new challenge is the thirty meters plus of size.  Jarrett Bay new 110 design proposal strikes for its profile, perfect proportions, remarkable seaworthiness and performance the North Carolina custom boat builder is so well-known for. Fully custom build this fully custom build is both available as an enclosed bridge as picture or a more sporty open bridge.  Interesting though is that Jarrett Bay has yet to build a boat with an enclosed bridge, the yard admits it has witnessed an increased interest in them recently, especially at the larger sizes. The 110 would be the first hull by Jarrett Bay to include both an enclosed bridge and open “sky bridge.” While the 110 would feel right at home dominating the best billfish spots on the planet, she is equally equipped and designed for exploration. When exploring the far reaches of the globe, most superyacht owners and captains opt for an enclosed bridge for year-round comfort and safety in almost any climate. This yacht design has attempted to include every amenity and creature comfort an owner could ever think of. The common requests will be available, including Seakeeper Gyro stabilization, whole boat control systems, unmatched electronics, navigation and A/V systems plus seawater desalination systems. However, there are thoughtful extras including the breakfast bar and common area centrally located below with the guest cabins, plus a third generator that provides for an ultra-quiet sleep mode. At the heart of her design is Jarrett Bay’s tried and true cold-molded hull modernized with the latest techniques in advanced composites learned from the carbon fiber-rich construction of the Jarrett Bay 90. Although her proportions are staggering, weight is kept in check with the use of advanced materials and composites and her draft remains under the two meter mark thanks to the precise placement of fuel and water tanks, and vital equipment, including the powerful twin MTU 4600hp engines and the 22000 liters of fuel to feed them. There’s no question that the crew of a renowned sport-fishing team works their butts off day in and day out. And when it’s tournament time, the work doubles. The 110 is every bit a hardcore fishing machine like every Jarrett Bay built to date, but her design lends a hand to the hard-working crew. Preliminary designs for this theoretical yacht includes a tender and toy garage for storing PWC’s, SUP’s, Kayaks and even a flats boat and motorcycles for exploring remote islands, all tucked away out of the elements in the fore-deck, making for a more chamois-free maintenance program for the crew.  The first interior designs of this concept include a full professional galley with complete appliance suite, including a double wall oven and plenty of chilled and frozen storage. A huge pantry accommodates the massive range this boat can travel. There’s also a separate breakfast bar amidship in the lower layout, providing quick bites for the guests anytime. Crew quarters below the mezzanine provide berths, a galley and space for lounging. Of course, being fully-custom the owner can opt for any interior arrangement they desire.

Project: Hatteras 105 Raised Pilothouse

During the Miami 2018 boat show Hatteras unveiled two future projects, one which is the new 105 Raised Pilothouse flagship.  This new Hatteras will replace the 100 Raised Pilothouse launched in 2013, as the current largest offer and will be the new flagship from the historical North Carolina boat builder. The 105 Raised Pilothouse will be offered with an option for the owners stateroom to be located in the forward part of the main deck.  The Hatteras 105 Raised Pilothouse is to be powered by twin 1900hp Cat engines, with fuel capacity of just a little over 17000 liters.

New Model: Nordhavn Lanzarote 76

Pacific Asian Enterprises known as the builders of the Nordhavn explorer cruisers and yachts line is proud to introduce the exquisite Lanzarote 76. Project: Riva 66 Ribelle

During the Miami boat show of February 2018, Riva presented the project for an upcoming 66 Ribelle sport yacht model.  The 66 Ribelle is a new project in the Riva fleet and will be making its debut in 2018, what is a replacement for the 68 Ego and its long ten years plus of commercial success. The Riva 66 Ribelle is a product of collaboration between Officina Italiana Design, Riva's designer since 1991 and the Ferretti Group Strategic Product Committee and Engineering Departments.  The Riva 66 Ribelle is to be build at the storied Sarnico shipyard.  Riva is saying this novelty will join the brand’s distinctive features in a boat whose very name, Ribelle translates to Rebel and demonstrating in this a desire to break the mold.

INBUILD ~ Casa 38 T-Top Part 1 of 5

In January 2018 Casa started the construction phase for another version of its popular 38 model, the T-Top variant.  Designed by Pier Luigi Mimmocchi the Casa 38 T-Top will also feature vs the Hard Top version renewed hull side lines, thanks to the addition of new extended windows.  In this new Casa 38 version the Gaeta boat builder shows its custom versatility, with the particulars of this build requested by a client.  Casa responded immediately to the request by putting its technical studio and designer Mimmocchi at work for the building of this made to measure build.  In this Inbuild part one picture story we are seeing the 38 Casa T-Top being removed from the mold and a continuation of the first construction phase, which involves the outer shell and interior structure of the build.

Project: Couach 1500 Mediterranean

Couach is celebrating the start of what promises to be a strong year with the sale of the first of its 1500 models. The fifteen meter sport yacht has a sporty, streamlined and tapered profile which is at once graceful and striking. Drawing inspiration from the Guy Couach 1600, it sits at the heart of the Mediterranean sport cruisers and yachts line-up from eleven to fifteen meters presented by Couach. The Couach 1500 features a large bow area for relaxation and sunbathing at anchor or for a thrilling ride when underway. The extensive sun pads that can be removed to allow natural light to flood into the master cabin below via the skylight. The walk-around decks lead to the generous aft deck, a relaxing and open space that transforms from sofa and coffee table with accompanying freestanding seating to a large dining table for up to eight guests. Double sets of stairs on port and starboard lead down to the large swimming platform, the perfect spot from which to enjoy water sports, and large enough to stow a tender or a jet bike. The 1500’s main deck interior features large windows to emphasize the sense of space, and a large L-shaped sofa facing a wall-mounted television. Amidships, a compact and practical galley to starboard sits alongside the steering console with double helm seats. Below deck, the luxuriously-finished accommodation is befitting of the renowned Couach name. The double master cabin features large windows on both sides of the hull as well as the aforementioned skylight. The large hull windows, which reinforce the yacht’s modern profile, continue amidships past the two shared bathrooms, one of which has ensuite access for the master cabin, and into the two twin cabins amidships, which can be specified with convertible double beds. In the lazarette, astern of the twin inboard engines, there is space for stowage for a RIB tender in a garage.  A proven seaworthy platform, the 15-metre deep-V hull form of the 1500 has been tried and tested on over fifty patrol boats currently in use on the Arabian Peninsula. The yacht is fitted with twin Volvo 435hp engines with IPS600 pod drives as standard, delivering a top speed of 28 knots and a cruise of 22 knots totaling a range of about 350nm.
