Aicon Group in Full Showdown at Nauta Show

Aicon will be present with the strength of its Group at the Mediterranean Boat Show, exposing both the Aicon Yachts and Morgan Yachts range. The XV edition of the Nauta Boat Show, to be held in Catania, 20th - 28th March 2010, will be the debut at a boat show of the Morgan 33 Dinghy, the first daily cruiser of the Group. The range will also be represented by the Morgan 44, the small jewel of the lobster boat range of the Group. Along with the Morgan models, in the harbor of Catania will be exposed the Aicon 52 Fly, a yacht below 60 ft which expresses the key concepts of the Aicon style, sixteen meters of style, elegance and refinement that make the boat extremely livable and comfortable; and the Aicon 62 Open, a concentrate of technology and design recognizable from the well-defined external lines and the classic round porthole. After the success obtained at the official presentation in the autumn of 2009 in Rome, the Morgan 33 Dinghy will debut for the first time in a boat show. Aicon has chosen the Nauta of Catania, one of the major exhibitions in Italy, to pay homage to its homeland with a model that is the extraordinary result of union between the quality and the technology that distinguish Morgan, and the culture and the style of the Made in Sicily. The Morgan 33 Dinghy is an open, almost 10 meters in length, which inaugurates a new range of yachts called Dinghies and will be present alongside the now well-known Morgan Lobster Boats and the Fast Commuters.

With a special equipe of designers who provide services directly at Customer's home, anywhere in the world. All this is Grande, or better, Azimut Grande. The new family encompasses the entire Azimut Yachts offer in the over 100 feet segment and gives a characteristically Italian name to the approach that Azimut has always taken to customer relations: an approach that has made it the favourite shipyard of Megayacht owners throughout the world since twelve years. This is one of the new elements of the new Azimut flagship project: a special team to transform dreams into fully operational designs. The Personal Design Equipe is happy to meet the owner anywhere in the world, to discuss his needs, discover his wishes and - in no time at all - present him with a proposal that will transform his dreams into reality. The direct relationship with the customer and the ability to customise a vessel to the maximum is one of the great strengths of Azimut's approach that have always made it stand out, as shown by the experiences of Philip Rinaldi, owner of “Vivere” an Azimut 116. A grand adventure in ideas and investments, that only Azimut could launch, strengthened by its position as international leader in Megayacht production.

Due to his many years of experience in the Azimut-Benetti Group, Gianni Cucco can today boast an in-depth understanding of the sector, in addition to an insider's knowledge of the products and the people; above all, however, he shares the passion which over time has determined the success of the company. While 2009 brought a sea of change for much of the marine industry, Meridian Yachts’ position as the top builder of bridge boats in the U.S. remained unchanged. In fact, 2009 marked the highest market share ever for Meridian in the 35-60-foot bridge boat category, as the brand captured nearly 20 percent of the market. Brunswick Corporation’s other major brand in the segment, Sea Ray, had the second-highest bridge boat market share. In the category, sales of Meridian and Sea Ray together exceeded the U.S. sales of the next nine brands combined. The gap between Brunswick’s offerings and the competition also grew, as Meridian alone sold nearly three times as many boats in 2009 as the Number 3 competitor in the category.

Mustang Appoints Voluntary Administrators

The Directors of Mustang Marine announce that they have placed Mustang Marine Australia Services, the principal manufacturing entity of Mustang Marine group in Voluntary Administration effective Friday 19 March 2010. Cliff Sanderson and Alan Topp of Restructuring Works were appointed Voluntary Administrators. Over the last 2 years, the company has spent significant sums on redesigning production, new product development and restructuring sales and marketing. The proof of the success of this is in the reception from the media and public to the new models, and the resulting sales. However the after effects of the global economic events of the last 18 months have continued to weigh on sentiment and sales lead conversion has therefore been slower than expected. Business was further hampered by a fire at a critical supplier causing significant delays in new product releases. The principal lender to the business decided it was unable to support the next stage of growth in the business. Without the certainty of continued funding the Directors have taken the prudent course of entering Voluntary Administration whilst a new investor is found. By taking the Voluntary Administration route, the company has time to source new investment as well as restructure the business to be better equipped to meet the current market conditions. This process has been commenced by the Administrators. The Directors understand that the Administrators have terminated non essential staff on Friday 19 March 2010. The company Dealerships throughout the country and internationally are still operating. The Directors intend to formulate a Deed of Company Arrangement. It is the Directors’ intention that boats currently sold and in production will be completed and delivered. The company will be contacting owners to discuss specifics. It is also the Directors intention to continue the research and development plans for new models. The company will still offer a presence at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May 2010 by showcasing their current range of models.

Dozens of different trawler brands were on show, but the overwhelming favorite was the Nordhavn 64 Sweet Hope, which took the Peoples Choice award. For those who can’t make it to Lake Travis, Sea Ray dealerships around the world will transform more than 100 additional locations into official AquaPalooza event sites, making it easy for boaters to both get to, and to enjoy the family fun. Most of the events will take place during the last two weekends in July. In 2009, the fourth annual AquaPalooza attracted approximately 15,000 boats and 84,000 guests to 123 events from New York to California, and from Austria to Australia. Since its inception in 2006, the multi-location celebration has grown bigger each year.

Sunseeker Impressive Dubai Boat Show

Sunseeker Middle East had an impressive start to the Dubai International Boat Show (9th - 13th March) as the Sunseeker 38 Metre special edition was purchased by a buyer from the GCC on the first morning of the show. The company is delighted to have sold five craft in total throughout the show. Sunseeker Middle East LLC was one of the leaders at the show and displayed eight boats in total including the 82 Yacht, Manhattan 70, Manhattan 60, Manhattan 52, Predator 62, Portofino 47 and Superhawk 43.

Project: Hatteras 60GT

During the just passed Miami Yacht show, Hatteras announced a new sportfish yacht project slated for debut this years fall. The 60GT project is the latest in fifty years convertible design and propulsion development from Hatters, combined with the use of technological advances in materials and methods utilized in fiberglass construction by this legendary Carolina builder. The Hatteras 60GT takes its exterior design cues from the current 60 Convertible, but a newly redesigned cockpit and a touch of panache give the new 60GT a unique style of her own. The interior accommodations found in the 60GT are not only more spacious to the current Convertible, but are designed with a level of sophistication not often found in a Sportfish Yacht. Sleeping accommodation is for three stateroom all with independent shower heads. Larger window framing is also found on the main deck in the saloon allowing for better views, and combine with wall coverings and exotic woods to create a more open layout while continuing to provide a warm and luxurious environment. The 60GT also get its numbers following and surpassing the current 60 Convertible optional “GT Tournament Edition” package. This GT upgrade included larger engines and additional weight savings which created a forty plus knots boat. With its lightweight build combined with an aggressively efficient propulsion design, the new 60GT is designed to perform at an elevated level, providing increased efficiency whether cruising or tournament fishing. Power to the 60GT will be by twin Cat engines from 1600 up to 1800hp with line shaft propulsion in semi tunnels. Perhaps the biggest surprise of it all here is the missing option with ZF Zeus pods having a 60 Convertible named QuadZeus been a prototype tester for this type of propulsion in the last months.

Improve-it = Nimbus 27 Nova S

Nimbus presents the E-power version for the 27 Nova S developed in collaboration with Electroengine AB, a company that develops solutions for electrical power in different kinds of vehicle, including private cars. The E-power 27 Nova S is a standard production boat, neither deck nor hull have been specially prepared or lightened in any way. In other words, the electric-powered engine we have installed has been given a really tough job. The power unit and the battery cells come from Electroengine. The transmission is a DPH duoprop drive from Volvo. This boat has a cruising speed of approximately 23 knots and a top speed of 27 knots. At cruising speed the boat has a range of 20 nautical miles. Nimbus says it will be able to present versions with longer range when the boat is launched onto the market. The craft is charged from a standard 230V power point. Charging takes 28 hours. When using a standard 3-phase 400V power point, full charging takes approximately four hours. A battery gauge replaces the fuel one to monitor the battery level. But just in case the power does run out, we have fitted a small diesel generator to get you home. The diesel generator runs at optimum speed to reduce emissions. The 27 Nova S E-power version will be built at the yards in Mariestad, Sweden. Nimbus hopes to move the E-power technology in its other boat brands as Ryds and Paragon in the very near future.

Project: Riviera 43 Open Flybridge

Riviera presents the project for a new 43 Open Flybridge, latest in design from this down under World famous boat builder set to launch in the Sanctuary Cove show in May. This new model incorporates function and style within a supremely comfortable, sea-kindly hull. The most striking aspect about Riviera’s latest creation is its design approach: a thoroughly modern methodology progressing the Sportfish Cruiser design into the next generation. Designed exclusively using Riviera’s Unigraphics three dimensional CAD software system, the result is a superbly considered boat with abundant light and space. The 43 Open Flybridge brings the outdoors in, creating an alfresco environment with a seamless transition between the expansive cockpit and the contemporary leather and varnished cherry interior. The main saloon is both beautiful and practical, with seating for seven in a U-shape lounge to starboard around a generous sized, timber folding table. To port is a two-seater leather lounge that can be brought forward to the saloon table as two separate dining chairs. When not required, the chairs are stowed neatly between the bar and open plan galley on the port side. Below decks there is sleeping accommodation for up to six in two large cabins. The forward master stateroom features a queen sized two metre long double bed, with a cedar-lined hanging robe, extensive storage and an ensuite bathroom. The aft, full beam cabin has large port lights with optional opening portholes either side for natural light and cross ventilation. A large skylight under the forward saloon windscreen provides additional light to this cabin creating a very bright and welcoming space. The flybridge, accessible from the cockpit via a new design stair ladder, offers 360 degree vision with minimal interruption, thanks to a new structural hard top canopy. Swivel companion and helm chairs allow finger tip console control while there is seating for four in an L-shape lounge in front of the helm around a weatherproof table. A wet bar with settee opposite on the port side completes the flybridge comforts. When it comes to propulsion, the proven Volvo IPS has allowed Riviera designers to create a fresh accommodation layout on the new 43 Open Flybridge. With all major engineering positioned well aft, enormous gains are made with beam-width space amidships. The pod installation allows Riviera’s New Product Design Manager, Alan Dowd to create a high performance running surface to the 43 Open Flybridge that is extremely fuel efficient cruising at 28 knots with a top speed of around 31 knots, and a range of 340 nautical miles from its 1800 litre tanks. The hull and deck construction is solid hand-laid fibreglass below the waterline and core materials in the hull topsides and superstructure. This composite laminate design makes good use of weight where it is needed delivering a solid soft ride offshore. Controlling all onboard electrics is the digital CZone system. A revolutionary solid state Controller Area Network (CAN) bus design, that allows for the ultimate in customisation and finger-touch control of all aspects of electrical operation, from entertainment lighting to navigation equipment. There are multiple custom settings for easy operation and the CZone system allows for the ability to drill down within each setting in order to control or change specific operations. CZone also talks the same data language as the Volvo IPS system, so all your engine parameters are metered through the same monitoring system.

Class 1 - Brazil Race 2 Fazza 3 Makes 2/2

Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir Bin Hendi completed a hat-trick of wins, winning race 2 of the Brazilian Grand Prix to take a maximum 40 points from round one of the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship and make the perfect start to the defence of their World Championship title. Fazza 1 pushed their teammates all the way to claim another second place finish, with Duemme - Foresti & Suardi’s all-Italian pairing of Giampaolo Montavoci and Guido Cappellini claiming a first podium, in their first Grand Prix weekend together. The reigning world champions, led from start-to-finish, claiming a tenth race win in only their twelfth race together, a career fourteenth for both. Despite an electrical failure, Al Zafeen and Bin Hendi were able to hold off a determined challenge from their closest rivals and teammates to take the victory, completing the 71.32Nm course in 47mins 16.14secs. A close race saw Fazza 1 get within touching distance of their teammates while holding off a strong challenge from Duemme - Foresti & Suardi behind them. Two podiums from the weekend saw them consolidate second place in the championship on 30 points. An inspired performance by new-pairing Montavoci and Cappellini in Duemme - Foresti & Suardi saw them claim their first podium together. Moving up from fourth on the grid they briefly held second place as they traded long-laps with Fazza 1. The third place finish, Montavoci’s first podium since Portorose, Slovenia, in 2006, delighted the experienced Italian. A spin on lap six of the race prevented Team Abu Dhabi’s from pushing for the podium. Their fourth placed finish was well earned and the new pairing will take heart from a good performance by both boat and team, giving them something to build on for the next race. Fabio Magnani and Marco Pennesi in Foresti & Suardi - SCAM produced another solid performance taking fifth place in their second outing together, going two better than in race 1, to make it an eleven-point weekend. Welmax Alianza’s Giorgio Manuzzi and Marit Stromoy claimed their second consecutive sixth place in their first grand prix outing together, however, their was frustration for teammates Jorn Tandberg and Kolbjorn Selmer, in Welmax, who were unable to build on yesterday’s podium finish after stopping on the start lap before restarting, only to see their race hopes end a lap later with a broken compressor belt. The UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship now heads to Europe for round 2, on the dazzling fjords of Arendal, Norway, on 16-18 July, 2010.

Project: Wally 24m Wallyshadow

One of the most forward looking boat builders in the planet, Wally presents the project of the 24m Wallyshadow which marks the Italian Monaco company entry into the displacement yachting world. The 24 metre Wallyshadow looks different, but most of all it is. Unusual planning here starts with the guest cabins all located from midship to aft, a central ship located to the beam tender garage, galley and crew quarters located in the forward part, and a sports pitch sized flybridge top deck all reserved for entertainment. The Shadow will also be available in a three or four cabin format below. In the third cabin format the owners cabin is large and is located to aft. Displaying 85 tons with a fiberglass construction the displacement Wally 24m Wallyshadow will be powered by small but very economic twin Cats 275hp engines. Performance should be for a 12 knots max, with a range of up to 3200 nautical miles possible at a 9 knots cruise. For best comfort and less rolling the 24m Wallyshadow is equipped with gyroscopic stabilizers as standard.

Class 1 - Brazil Race 1 for Fazza 3

A phenomenal performance by Fazza 3 saw them leave the field behind to dominate from start-to-finish to win race 1 of the Brazilian Grand Prix, the opening round of 2010 UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.
The defending world champions were uncatchable and put on a master class, to lead home the field by over 45 seconds. Teammates Fazza 1 made the most of a fantastic start to complete a Victory Team one-two, with Welmax completing the podium, finishing in third place.
Fazza 3’s Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir Bin Hendi followed up their Edox Pole Position win earlier in the day, with a performance of speed and skill that showcased to their rivals why they are world champions. The perfect start to the defence of their title was made by sealing victory over the 54.94Nm course in 35mins 44.56secs.
Mohammed Al Marri and Abdullah Al Mehairbi in Fazza 1, made a perfect start from third on the grid, passing Welmax to move into second place. From there they held off the challenge from the Norwegians and were rarely troubled as the pair claimed their first second place finish.
The all-Norwegian Welmax, piloted by Jorn Tandberg and Kolbjorn Selmer, were satisfied with the final podium place. A sluggish start saw them challenged early on by Team Abu Dhabi, who were a mere 0.16secs behind at the end of the start lap. However, after both outfits had run their long-laps, Welmax got ahead and streaked away to start closing in on Fazza 1, but despite their best efforts the Norwegians could not get close enough to make a move for second place, finishing 9.75secs behind.
Following disqualification from the Edox Pole Position, after setting the fourth fastest time, due to a weight-rule infringement, Duemme - Foresti & Suardi’s Giampaolo Montavoci and Guido Cappellini were forced to start from the back of the grid. A jump start then saw them penalised further with a long-lap penalty, after which they were running in fifth place. Another penalty long-lap, this time for Team Abu Dhabi for missing a turn buoy, allowed Montavoci and Cappellini to close the gap to just over five seconds. A fuel problem for Team Abu Dhabi’s Rashed Al Tayer and Nicola Giorgi, which prevented them from accelerating out of the corners, then allowed the experienced Montavoci and new partner Cappellini to overtake at the end of lap 12 and move them up into fourth place.
Welmax Alianza’s new pairing of Giorgio Manuzzi and Marit Stromoy followed up a solid performance in their first outing together in qualifying and despite a high-speed spin on lap seven, finished in sixth place ahead of Fabio Magnani and Marco Pennesi in Foresti & Suardi - Scam. A Fazza one-two bodes well for the team that swept all before them in 2009 and the challenge is now on for their rivals to see if they can split the Dubai-based team’s raceboats in race 2 of the Brazilian Grand Prix, tomorrow.

Boat Review: Cerri 102 Flying Sport

Presentation
Cerri's 102 Flying Sport follows on what this refined North Italian builder did with the 86 but in a bigger more important one hundred foot plus size. Launched in late Spring 2009 Cerri's 102 Flying Sport is the biggest yacht ever build by the Tuscany, Carrara builder which continues a story filled with cross over style design innovation as the main character. Obviously company owner Carlo Cerri follows the schemes seen on the 86, in the 102 featuring the much wanted invisible unnoticeable only know about once you are on it flybridge. Then again just like the smaller 86 the 102 is much more then just Flying Sport offering a semi custom interior, high performance surface drives propulsion giving forty knots top speeds, and a reliable sea worthy hull designed by military experienced engineer Gianfranco De Casa. If you liked what you have seen with the 86 be ready also for more on the big Cerri, as is the case with the top fly deck which is similarly large as to that of a standard flybridge Super Yacht.
Accommodation
Customization is a stamp for Cerri who made tailor making request a big part to his boats from the start. This is farther testified with the all different twelve units delivered of the 86. Hull number one of the 102 Flying Sport featured a not so common for this size Super Sport Yacht five cabin version. A four cabins version with a larger owners cabin is also available.
The 102 welcomes you on its aft deck with a sunpad, curved settee for five persons, central table and free chairs making this area excellent for Al fresco entertaining. Going to fore is very easy with deep side bulwarks all around. The central theme of the fore deck is for the central located circular table which is a second more private dining Al fresco area, and the large sunpads forward to this. Another third exterior socializing area is the flybridge reached from a stair case inside. If you think this is just a second sporty helm station you are wrong as here we have 28 squared metres of space just right to compete with a similar sized looking full flybridge yacht. The layouts on the flybridge are endless and owners can really use there imagination. You can have it like in the plans with a large C-shaped settee to aft, or as the case for hull one using free moving chaise lounges to suit your needs.
Entering inside of the 102 Flying Sport you are welcomed into the interior relaxing area saloon. Here you find a C-shaped settee with a sofa opposite. More to fore is the dining table for ten persons and to starboard we have the stairs which lead to the large flybridge. Upfront of the main deck and ahead to the dining table is the three seated central interior helm station which can be separated from the living area by a descending blind. The galley is located to mid ship below decks and is a C-shaped design. Here is also the space for a lobby and an extra crew berth. To fore reached from the outside deck is the other twin double bunk cabins with shower head.
Going to the guest cabins below is from a circle shaped stair case to starboard. The five cabins layout offers a VIP to fore, two double guest cabins in between, a second VIP to port side, and the central owners suite located centrally. Hull one also featured a small L-shaped settee with TV unit below. In the four cabins version you will loose the second VIP and get more room in the owners suite which benefits from a large walk in wardrobe. All cabins in the 102 Flying Sport are en-suited in both the plans so far on offer.
Toy storage plays also an important part in the 102 Flying Sport with the aft garage taking a large tender and jet bike, and a stowage for a small motorcycle on the main deck. One last note is that while the script above and plans below show actual layouts these are just examples for hull one and two, and if the 86 was any proof Cerri really make the possibilities endless to customize a build to owners wishes.
Performance
Just has been since 1997 when Cerri debuted its first 28 model, the 102 Flying Sport features a hull design by Engineer Gianfranco De Casa. While not much known outside the professional scene, De Casa is a very famous military and working hull designer and so far did all Cerri's previous five models underwater shapes. For the 102 Flying Sport, De Casa presented a medium vee warped shaped hull which ends with a sixteen degrees deadrise aft. Unusually angled for this size of yacht and what should make a formidable match to surface drives propulsion and high forty knots top speeds. Hull one for the 102 Flying Sport was fitted with twin MTU 2400hp engines, and Arneson surface drives. This package produces a fast 40 knots top speed, and an all time cruise of 33 knots giving a range of 450 nautical miles.

Competition
The Cerri 102 Flying Sport gets to be a bit unique against its super sport yacht peers. What makes Cerri's flagship stand out is surely the big flybridge, high customization, and the five cabins layout. This seems to be not available from the competition bar the new bigger Pershing 108. Performance is also similar with some staying with a tradition line shaft system like the Azimut 103SL which is the slowest, others opting for jet propulsion like the Arno and the Overmarine, and some opting for a triple propulsion choice as the Pershing or as optional on the Baia One Hundred.
Arno Leopard 32M - flybridge, but looks sport overall
Azimut 103SL - you see the flybridge on the red SL, but it is sleek
Baia One Hundred - huge glassed surfaces, invisible fly, 50 knots with 3500hp MTU
Pershing 108 - launching soon, similar fly deck, 41 knots, five cabins optional
WILD CARD: Overmarine 105 Mangusta - raised saloon helm, similar performance
Conclusion
Carlo Cerri thirteen years of operation has given a lot to the boating world not only for cross over design innovation but also for a unique way to build its product. If you visit Cerri shipyard you will be surprised in that you will find adjacent to the boat building premises a gym with pool and spa, and music played while the workers are completing the boats. With this Cerri is passing on a strong message in a producing World where numbers seem the only thing important. It is true numbers are important but if you want someone to build your boat you want these people to have a passion for it, feel good in the premises, and to be part of a family. The 102 Flying Sport is a proof of how since 1997 the Cerri brand has flourished and follows its Constructors of Passion trademark. This new Cerri 102 Flying Sport flagship as is the smaller 86 and the other projects in store from the Italian Tuscany company like a bigger 120, and a smaller seventy foot model are just testimony to this.

Project: C.Boat 23-82

After launching its first 27-82 Classic model C.Boat moves ahead by presenting new projects which aim to enrich is range of modern looking steel build motor and super yachts. The second project from C.Boat is the 23-82, which is four meters smaller to the 27 metres launched Super Yacht in 2009, and is also the entry level project of the range. C.Boat 23-82 is a 24 metre over all motor yacht designed by Mauro Corvesieri, and Salvo Parigi responsible for the interior. The concept for the 23-82 follows that of the larger C.Boat with an 8 mm thick steel construction, a Vee shaped full keel hull, and a very angular bow. This design is ideally suited for displacement speeds which allows for half the power of what the usual planning yachts of this size need. With twin 700hp engines, the C23-82 should give a top speed of 13 knots at light load. Interior the C23-82 has a standard three double cabins plus crew layout. An optional four cabin version which will make minus the tender garage aft is available.

New Model: Dellapasqua DC9 Elite

As has always been the tradition of this builder Dellapasqua show its roots to the past not only in the lines of its boats, hull shape, drive systems and construction method but also in the designation model 9 Elite name. In fact the nine metres for this model is a water line measurement as the most recent addition to the Dellapasqua family measures a full eleven metres overall. That is six feet more to what nine metres would be! Apart of this the Dellapasqua 9 Elite is a pure offshore Sport Cruiser coming from the past from its very Hunt influenced deep-V hull to the solid glass construction. The 9 Elite is in many areas not far away from what you would have seen in the seventies. The new medium sized Dellapasqua 9 Elite welcomes you on board in its large cockpit aft deck offering a sun pad to aft, L-shaped settee, wet bar, and helm station. Below the accommodation is a limited but well laid affair with a separate owners double berth cabin to fore, dining table to starboard which converts to an extra twin berth, and separate shower head. Space is important for the Dellapasqua family builders but comes always second behind perfect weight distribution, and the stability from a direct in line shaft propulsion. The new Dellapasqua DC9 Elite is powered by twin 400hp turbo diesel engines.

Improve-it = Cabo 40 Flybridge

During the recent Miami boat show Cabo has presented a redesigned interior for the 40 Flybridge model. Cabo’s designers have improved this most popular Sportfish Cruiser flybridge model with added interior comfort and design appeal. Cabo retained the beautifully finished teak used in the 40 Flybridge cabinet doors, then expanded its use and coverage to the cabinet frames, storage lockers, and bulkheads for a more inviting environment. Cabo also introduced several new decor packages for customers to choose from, adding wall coverings and padded panel options instead of bare gel coat in the living spaces. The two cabin two heads interior of the refreshed 40 Flybridge represent an evolutionary change for one of Cabo's best sellers, providing a new level of thoughtful attention. The interior design below deck in a Cabo equals the detail which has always gone into the cockpit, helm deck and wiring which is considered an industry standard. While the new 40 Flybridge interiors are definitely more luxurious, the fit and finish is designed to retain the low maintenance approach of the traditional utilitarian interiors they replace. Also a new option for the 40 Flybridge is the availability of ZF Zeus pod propulsion with twin 600hp Cummins option. This choice follows what was seen on the 40 Express, Cabo's first pod drive boat which shares the same Micheal Peter's hull with the 40 Flybridge. For those still in doubt of new technology Cabo still offers three engine choices with the traditional line shaft propulsion from 715hp Cats, up to 800hp MANs.

New Model: Palm Beach 65 Sedan

Down under Palm Beach Motor Yachts adds another model to its range with the introduction of the 65 Sedan. New flagship to Palm Beach traditional looking cruiser and yachts, the 65 Sedan is a natural progression following the popularity of the 2008 launched 50 model. Like the 50, the new 65 Sedan expands a single living main deck experience, with discreet mezzanine levels accessing the cabins. Project: Mano 32 Gran Sport

Mano presents the project of the 32 Gran Sport. This latest Mano medium sized project reflects recent trends as shown by other Italian builders to present a Sport Cruiser design joined with that of a centre console open boat. So far the South Italian Mano has forwarded little details of this project, but with this rendering we can imagine that the 32 Gran Sport will be a full walk around for half of its length and having a full sun worshipper raised deck to fore. The port windows also suggest the use of over half of the length for accommodation below deck, which also is a big indication to tell us that the engines are located to aft with a high possibility of having stern drive engines, as is the normality in this size for European boat builders.

New Model: Ferretti 800

On Monday 22nd February, the new Ferretti 800 moved out of the Cattolica shipyard to reach the nearby dock for technical sea trials. The Ferretti 800 is just over 24 metres of length making it what is often referred to a pocket Super Yacht status. In its first sea trials according to Ferretti's technical department the 800 confirmed a perfect hydrostatic trim, with an excellent sea keeping, going beyond the performances and noisiness expectations when cruising. According to Ferretti the 800 is also extremely manageable when turning, with great satisfaction of AYT, responsible for the project which has been developed together with Zuccon International Project. The 800 as we stated in our project presentation a few weeks back features a different interior combination which sorts of goes back to the future with a lower deck having the crew quarters to fore, engines to aft, and thus allowing for more spaces for the owners and guests. Long standing designer Zuccon now with Ferretti for a twenty year period also presented clever looks which make you think of a raised pilot house, but in fact it is not. Although the lower helm station has a feeling of being separate and is up three steps from the lower part of the saloon. Power is from twin MAN 1800hp with so far not confirmed top speed estimates of 31 knots. Now the Ferretti 800 will be presented as a preview to clients and dealer network during an event which will be held in April, and after that it will be officially launched at the coming Cannes show in September.

Project: Marlow 76LR Voyager

Marlow presents the project for the 76LR Voyager what will be the first of a new line from this renowned Explorer Yacht builder. The Voyager series is not just a new fancy name to some different looking Marlow, but is also a new Explorer Yacht concept which according to its builder features a very efficient semi displacement hull. The 76LR Voyager should also have a bulb and feature pod propulsion. This configuration should give about 30% better speeds and range versus full displacement hulls, and allow for trans oceanic capability without the need of extra fuel tanks. The 76LR Voyager will also have solar panels above the raised pilot house which reduces the need of continuous generator running often associated with this size of yacht. Accommodation is for a main deck with a spacious saloon having a U-shaped galley, and a master stateroom to forward up three steps with full view. Below is the space for a lower deck featuring four staterooms. A galley area is in the companionway allowing guests to prepare coffee or a snack without going to the main deck. To aft is the crew quarters with two cabins and having a lobby equipped with microwave, refrigerator, ice maker, table and lounge. Aft of this is the toy storage area accessed by a large hydraulic door.
