Azimut-Benetti Group World Leading Super Yacht Manufacturer for 23rd Year

Azimut|Benetti Group earns the most important recognition in the nautical sector: first place in the annual ranking of Global Order Book 2023 by the authoritative magazine, Boat International. The Group's primacy among builders of yachts over 24 meters follows from 53 years of passion for boating. Over the years, the family business has succeeded in combining technological innovation, elegantly impactful design solutions and a longstanding commitment to reduce emissions. With 168 projects under construction, totaling 5,991 meters in length, Azimut|Benetti Group leads, for the 23rd time in a row, the annual ranking of the largest yacht builders known as the Global Order Book by Boat International. The British nautical magazine has been collecting and analyzing data on the superyacht market since 1992 to chronicle the scope of the sector, which has risen to global significance. The prestigious acknowledgment asserts Azimut|Benetti Group, active on 5 continents, as the world's leading manufacturer among the 189 shipyards, both in number of projects and total length. The gap between first and second place grew sharply over the past year, as the Italian company founded by Paolo Vitelli extended its order portfolio into 2027, recording a production value of more than 1.2 billion euros for the current year. The factors underlying the company’s lasting success are many, with their roots in a product strategy, a business model and an entrepreneurial vision that have stood the test of time, unmoved by market trends. Technological innovation is one of the pillars supporting the success of Azimut|Benetti Group, which plans to invest 130 million euros in R&D over the next 3 years. While the effort aims at the development of new products and the use of cutting-edge technologies, above all it has delivered significant results in terms of sustainability. A rapidly growing share of yachts produced by the Group guarantee a 20 to 30% reduction in fuel consumption, and therefore CO2 emissions, compared with equivalent shaft line models with hard-chine hulls. This result has been achieved by combining three key factors: the adoption of innovative propulsion systems including hybrid and electric; the development of increasingly efficient hulls, tailored to master the challenges of each model’s mission; and extensive use of carbon fiber to reduce weight. Cheoy Lee Reports Strong 2022 and Expands Dealer Network

Following a fruitful year that saw the launch of two brand new models, CLX96 and CLB65, CL Yachts is backing up strong sales by expanding and strengthening its sales networks that are now global in coverage.  Over the past two years the production yacht builder, with headquarters in Hong Kong, has implemented a comprehensive expansion strategy in 2021 and 2022 to better focus sales activities in different international markets.  The all-important US market will continue to be managed by the CL Yachts Office in Fort Lauderdale (USA and Canada) and Rex Marine Center Inc. in Norwalk, Connecticut. Likewise the CL Yachts Office in Hong Kong will continue to oversee sales in Asia and Europe, and Silverstar Marine Australia in Western Australia.  Ms Carmen Lau, Senior Advisor of Camper & Nicholsons International was appointed as worldwide agent (excluding the US, South America and Canada) to manage sales of CLX96 flagship model designed by Jozeph Forakis. Through the partnership with Camper & Nicholsons International, CL Yachts is confident that it will be an assurance of quality, luxury and prestige for CLX96.  In response to growing enquiries from local regions, the company has made the following appointments:  Sydney Marine Brokerage in Sydney was appointed to manage sales in Australasia (excluding Western Australia).  Royal Yachting Middle East Boat Trading LLC, based in Dubai, now manages sales in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.  Premium Nautical Pte Ltd, based in Singapore, now manages sales in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.  Asia Boating Ltd, based in Hong Kong, now manages sales in Hong Kong and Macau.  "We are delighted to welcome our new partners in Asia Pacific and the Middle East as part of the CL Yachts sales network,” says Martin Lo, Director of CL Yachts. “Their vast experience and local knowledge is invaluable to support our growth in these highly competitive and dynamic markets. 2022 has been a milestone in the history of CL Yachts. Cranchi Revamps Piantedo Headquarters

The Cranchi Yachts headquarters in Piantedo, Lombardy, has been revamped, with restructured spaces for welcoming and meeting guests. The materials and colour tones used in the rooms recreate the unmistakeable style of the interiors in Cranchi Yachts' two Flagship collection models, the Settantotto 78 ft and the Sessantasette 67 ft.  The furnishing solutions from Flexform collections, a leading furniture brand and an Italian design and manufacturing icon, are another distinguishing feature of the spaces in the headquarters.  In the updated front desk area, christened Giotto, an atmosphere of contemporary class prevails, in which the attractive design of the Thomas armchairs and Guscio sofa give visitors a warm and intimate welcome. The new meeting rooms, Canova and Leonardo, also reflect the contemporary character and quality of Cranchi's brand of Italian design and manufacturing thanks to the rooms' Flexform furnishings, which feature the unmistakeable style of the Feel Good armchairs and tables from the Fly collection, recreating the interiors of Cranchi Yachts' flybridge range.  The collaboration between Cranchi Yachts and Flexform began with the freestanding furnishings selected by Christian Grande to fit out the first units of the Cranchi Settantotto 78 ft and the Cranchi Sessantasette 67 ft. The collaboration will now continue on a project to design new stands to present the Shipyard at upcoming boat shows. Starting with the events at Düsseldorf and Miami and continuing into subsequent international boat shows, Cranchi Yachts' exhibition spaces will be furnished with armchairs, tables and accessories from the Flexform collections.


CRN Wins Gold Trophy 2022

For the second year running, CRN, the historic shipyard and Ferretti Group brand specialising in designing and building fully custom yachts, has won the Gold Trophy at the World Luxury Award in the Cars and Yachts category.  Held in Monte Carlo, the World Luxury Award event is an independent forum set up to recognise creative excellence in the advertising, design and multimedia arenas, focusing on the major players in international luxury.  In this year’s edition, CRN emerged victorious for its winning social-media strategy and integrated international campaign during the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show, where the new fully bespoke nautical work of art that is the CRN 62m M/Y Rio received her world première.  This major award acknowledges the innovative approach and the creative originality of the storytelling devised and produced by Arachno Digital Agency on CRN’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and LinkedIn profiles.  These social-media accounts ably documented CRN’s presence at the all-important boat show using a high-impact visual language with augmented-reality elements. The online coverage expressed CRN’s enduring values and identity – from its superlative Italian craftsmanship and its supreme design and build quality to its fully tailored flair – with a consistent and distinctive tone of voice.  These are the keys to a social-media strategy that has created tremendous engagement and empathy. The content plan not only featured images, video and reels but also introduced a special Instagram filter for users to personalise their stories with an original graphic design inspired by the tropical concept that suffuses the CRN M/Y Rio interiors.  Leveraging a fresh new visual language, the evocative, engaging storytelling did ample justice to CRN’s triumphant journey at the Monaco Yacht Show. It spoke to the founding values of a brand that creates true-custom yachts in a perfect fusion of innovation, expertise and professionalism through the passion and dedication of its exceptional professional team.


Fairline New Dealer in Montenegro

S-Nautica has been announced by British luxury motor yacht manufacturer Fairline as its new dealer for Montenegro, further adding to its network of dealers worldwide. Following the recent announcement of HL Schiffstechnik as its new dealer for south Germany, Fairline is further increasing its global roster of dealers and has chosen S-Nautica for its unique commitment to client relationships and excellent reputation for sales. To be known as Fairline Montenegro, S-Nautica was founded in 1995 and established a brand strongly dedicated to each individual customer and ensuring the process of purchasing a luxury vessel was second to none. It combines its expertise in sales, charter and management to offer the very best service in the key elements of yachting. Fairline Montenegro is led by Goran Stanisic together with Zoran Stanisic. Feadship Custom Soundwaves

After a thorough selection process Feadship commissioned a few highly skilled producers to compose four custom audio tracks for four custom yachts. Each Feadship has a very distinct character, built up of many different traits; the composers rendered these traits into music, with the only requirement that the listener had to be able to dance to them. The result is a playlist of spectacular music that will surely rock your boat. Find the tracks on Feadship playlist on Spotify and have a look at the animations to discover the creative process behind the production. See how the unification of traditional with modern concepts in the design of Pure is represented by the combination of classical instruments with digital sounds. How the focus on light in the design of Slice is clearly audible and, for those who 'speak the lingo', the Morse code for the word 'slice' can be heard repeatedly. And is it clear that Callisto is a Mediterranean classic from the music? We think so. Named after a racehorse, sounds of the racetrack are in the background, with Bruno Martino-style chords at the forefront. In the same way, we can hear that Juice's 3.65 draft measurements are equal to the number of days in a year and all four seasons can be heard as the tune plays.

Ferretti Custom Line Launches Six Super Yachts in Two Months

Everyone wants Custom Line: works of contemporary marine art for cruising in the utmost comfort, with maximum reliability and safety. The latest six launches in less than two months bring the total to twenty Custom Line yachts completed this year at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, testifying to the ever-growing appeal of a range that delivers an immersive seagoing experience.  The tenth Custom Line Navetta 30 unit touched the water at the end of October, showing off the yacht’s modern elegance and contemporary style. With a length of 28.42 m and a beam of 7.3 m, this icon of marine excellence caught the eye of a European owner. The naval architecture designed by Ferretti Group’s Strategic Product Committee and Engineering Department is a perfect combination of yachting tradition, design expertise and attention to detail. The interior design is by ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and the exterior styling is by Filippo Salvetti.  November 10 saw the launch of the eighth Custom Line 120’ unit, a masterpiece in the brand’s planing line. With a distinctly sporty personality defined by sleek, powerful contours and contemporary style, this superyacht has exterior styling and interior decor by Francesco Paszkowski Design, working in partnership with Margherita Casprini and the Custom Line Atelier on the interiors. Created for the most demanding and dynamic owners, this superyacht offers the maximum in terms of speed, performance and an avant-garde design aesthetic. Custom Line Navetta 33 M/Y “Our Way”, the twenty-fifth unit built of this model, was launched on November 16 with the American owner in attendance. This luxury yacht is for lovers of long-distance cruises in maximum comfort, thanks to generous volumes and plenty of space extending across four decks. Based on a more traditional approach, the model highlights elegance, beauty and exclusiveness, so that cruising and life on board are a superlative and unforgettable experience.  Two weeks later, on November 30, M/Y “M Together” entered the water, the ninth Custom Line Navetta 42 unit, bought by a European owner. The yacht is the brand’s largest displacement model, a cutting-edge masterpiece in which engineering and design come together with impeccable style, breathing life into a model permeated by sophisticated elegance. The yacht’s four decks are characterized by plenty of space and volume, with interiors created for full customization according to the owner’s wishes and offering guests unrivalled cruising comfort.  The fifteenth superyacht in the planning line, Custom Line 106’ MY “My Mistake” was launched on December 13. Grand Banks Enter Sales and Purchase Agreement for Stuart Boat Yard

SGX Mainboard-listed Grand Banks Yachts said it has entered into a Sale and Purchase Agreement to acquire 458 SW Salerno Road, located in Stuart, Florida, USA, for US$1.9 million . The Proposed Acquisition will allow the Group to enlarge its footprint in the US, enhance service capabilities and generate new revenue streams. With a land size of approximately 1,208 sqm and a built-up area of 266 sqm, 458 SW Salerno Road has berthing for up to nine boats. The property is currently the residence of Mr Gregory Burdick and Ms Nancy Burdick the Sellers, and is directly opposite the Group’s Stuart yard, which serves as its USA Headquarters as well as a one-stop shop for customer enquiries, support, warranty requirements.

Maritimo Donates to Perry X Foundation

Maritimo charity partner donates $420k to Griffith University’s Spinal Injury Project.  With the support of generous donors, the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation has donated $420,000 to fund a second Rehabilitation Trial for Griffith University’s Spinal Injury Project (SIP)!  This is a crucial final step before researchers proceed to a ground-breaking human clinical trial.  This second Rehabilitation Trial will allow another five people with paralysis to complete an intensive 16-week training program at Gold Coast’s Making Strides.  While most participants in the first Intensive Rehabilitation Trial previously had considerable rehabilitation experience, the second trial will test predominately how people with minimal rehabilitation respond to the program.  The first Intensive Rehabilitation Trial has now been completed, with researchers eagerly awaiting its findings.  The biostatistician is currently analysing the data from this Trial and over the coming few months, the research team will collate all the findings. Whilst the official results have not been formally shared, the preliminary findings have indicated life changing outcomes for the participants.  Because of our incredible fundraising community these 2 Rehabilitation Trials will ensure a robust set of data and it is hoped that this work will help change the way rehabilitation is administered in Australia, post injury.

Maritimo Launch Sail Racing Division

Representing the Gold Coast and Queensland in the iconic 2022 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, sailing yacht Maritimo 11 departed Southport Yacht Club with a rousing send-off from Mayor Tom Tate, joined by 100 family, friends and supporters. The yacht race from Sydney Harbour to Hobart, Tasmansia is celebrating its 77th edition with a strong fleet of 115 yachts.  The 628 nautical mile course is often described as the most grueling ocean race in the world, attracting sailors from around the world and the cream of Australian entries. Maritimo 11 will compete in the 52-foot grand prix racing yachts class, against 12 other contenders, including two champion internationals.  The 15.85-metre yacht is a meticulously refurbished, Reichel Pugh-designed TP52 – a champion racing yacht brought to Australia from Mexico. The TP52 was originally designed for the Transpac Race from Los Angeles to Honolulu and is a lean, light-weight yacht with few creature comforts for crew. There are around 80 of these carbon fibre yachts racing in all parts of the world, and they are extremely competitive.  The TPs have dominated Australian ocean racing including the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race in recent years and seem to enjoy a sweet spot under the IRC Handicap Rule that determines the overall winner of the Race.  In 2015, Paul Clitheroe’s TP52 Balance was declared the overall winner of the 2015 edition, and Matt Allen TP52, Ichi Ban is a three-time winner of the prestigious Race, taking home the Tattersall Cup in 2021, 2019 and 2017.  Maritimo founder, Bill Barry-Cotter could see the untapped potential in the TP52 he located in Fiji which was then transported to Maritimo’s Coomera headquarters where the yacht underwent a thorough refit, including new sails and all navigation equipment to bring her up to the latest safety and racing standards.  Maritimo is unique as the only luxury motor yacht builder in the world with a dedicated sail racing division and world championship power race team all in-house. Celebrating the desire to win on all parts of the ocean is core to Maritimo’s DNA.  In 2021-22, Maritimo invested in a multi-million dollar expansion program to meet production demand from increased sales volumes. Integral to keeping pace with demand is the company’s focus on recruitment, training and development of the next generation of trades people.  “We are extremely proud to be a Gold Coast manufacturer, with more than 300+ employees and motor yachts that are prized around the world,” states Tom Barry-Cotter, Tom Barry-Cotter, Managing Director at Maritimo. “A testament to the skills and craftsmanship of our tradespeople, Maritimo 11 will be flying the flag for the Gold Coast in the 2022 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.”  Michael Spies, veteran of 44 Rolex Sydney Hobart Race is at the helm and his crew of 14 includes Bill Barry-Cotter’s brother, Kendal, several champion sailors and Navigator Murray Spence.  Maritimo 11’s crew has an impress tally of 198 Rolex Sydney Hobart Races between the crew of 14.  Fourteen-year-old aspiring Olympic sailor, Addison Newlan who is supported by Maritimo in a yacht racing program was on Maritimo 11 on the sail down to Sydney. Ensuring we nurture the next generation of sailors and power boaters is another endeavor that Maritimo takes very seriously.  Addison raced with the crew during Australia’s Hamilton Island Race week and was part of the Maritimo 11 delivery crew, but will have to wait a few more years before she can compete due to the event’s age requirement of 18. However, being part of the highly experience crew is an exceptional opportunity for the 14 year old school girl.  Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, VIP guests and supporters bid farewell Maritimo 11 and wish her crew a safe and successful race south.  The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race has become an icon of Australia's summer sport, ranking among such popular national spectator events as the Melbourne Cup, the Australian Open tennis and the Boxing Day cricket test.

The dedicated and passionate Riviera team marked the past year with a lunchtime Christmas celebration at the company’s facility in early December. Owner Rodney Longhurst stood to applaud and praise the efforts of the entire 900-strong team. “Throughout the challenges we faced together during this year, I have truly admired your can-do attitude, and your commitment to moving forward together,” he told the team. “When we attend boat shows around the world, it’s like our World Cup and we are showcasing motor yachts that all of you played a part in creating. We are the Aussie battler, standing tall beside the best in the world. Our passion for creating world-class motor yachts has never been stronger and I thank each and every one of you for your great efforts this year.” Following the team celebration, Rodney reflected on the year 2022. “If anyone ever doubted we are a family, they simply need to look at what has been achieved by the great people at Riviera. Today more than 100 apprentices are being trained across the full spectrum of skills and crafts, from boatbuilding, engineering and electrical to timber and composite machinists and upholstery. This year a record number of 45 apprentices joined our training program, including 10 mature-aged trainees. “Riviera’s apprentice training program was recognised on the international stage in November, jointly winning the ‘Best Apprenticeship or Training Scheme’ category at the prestigious Boat Builder Awards held in Amsterdam. “Our expanded CAD, CNC and laser cutting technology is assisting our team’s productivity greatly. “Beyond infrastructure expansion, technology has also been advanced to further enhance quality and consistency in yacht builds. Five of our seven production lines are now utilising resin infusion to create stronger and lighter weight components. “This year our team has delivered more than 150 yachts to excited owners. Sirena Past the 100 Boat Mark

Sirena Yachts is marking a new milestone with the launch of its 100th boat. The lucky build number appears on a Sirena 88 – As the flagship of the brand, the 88 is a sleek blend of gleaming white topsides and black glass, complete with an open-top sun deck, private Jacuzzi on the foredeck and one of the biggest, brightest master cabins in its class.  Launching an 88ft yacht is ample cause for celebration in its own right. But it is more impressive still because it represents the feat of delivering 100 boats in less than six years - the first Sirena Yacht was only introduced to the world in 2017. The tightly styled range of four motor yachts, with naval architecture signed by German Frers and interiors by titans such as Cor D. Rover, has proven exceptionally successful.

Sunseeker Yacht Finalist in Trio of Boat International Awards 

Sunseeker is delighted to announce that the new 100 Yacht is in the running to win three awards at the renowned Boat International Design and Innovation Awards 2023. Viking on Fox News for Ten Knots Restriction

Fox News Channel reporter Douglas Kennedy visited the Viking manufacturing plant this week to interview Viking President and CEO Pat Healey about the 10-knot restriction being proposed by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The story is scheduled to air next week – we’ll let you know when through our social media. Viking has been an integral part of the marine industry’s effort to raise awareness about the devastating impact the rule would have on the boating and fishing community.  The North Atlantic Right Whale Vessel Strike Reduction Rule would broaden the current 10-knot (11.5 mph) speed limit to include boats 35 feet and larger (down from 65 feet); expand the zones from discrete areas to virtually the entire East Coast as far out as 100 miles; and extend the go-slow mandate for up to seven months a year. Boaters, anglers, maritime businesses and other stakeholders can help by urging Congress and other elected officials to demand that NOAA pause the rule until more reasonable alternatives can be found – solutions that involve tracking the whales, not instituting overreaching maritime laws.  

Viking at Pirates Cove Sailfish Tournament

The prestigious Pirate’s Cove Sailfish Classic saw two Vikings on the leader board. John Dougherty’s Viking 52 Outrage (above) released five sailfish for a 2nd Place finish. Eric Nabreski released three fish, while Mike Halley added a pair. The Viking 80 Frigate also released five sails and claimed 3rd Place based on time.


Wider Fano Shipyard on Track to Open in 2023 

It’s been less than a year since the building plans for Wider‘s new shipyard in Fano were announced. Today, the high-tech facility under construction in Fano is on track to open a first production area in early 2023.  With the heavy foundation work almost complete, the 18,000-sqm seafront site between Fano’s fishing port and the tourist marina is scheduled to start up production in next February.  “The new shipyard will be a real innovation centre,” says Marcello Maggi, who heads up W-Fin Sarl, the holding Company that owns 100% of Wider equity. “It’s where all our future boats, new green technologies and new ideas coming from start-uppers will come to life in full compliance with environmental issues. In other words, a pole of excellence not only for the city of Fano, but also for the Italian boatbuilding industry.”


Zeelander Completes Major Expansion

Zeelander Yachts is finishing 2022 on a high note, after a year of steady expansion and growth. The Dutch yard has added 40 per cent to its capacity, and launched the seductively restyled Zeelander 6. Meanwhile, a detailed rebranding exercise has created a new visual identity for the brand which fits its core values more closely. Zeelander has also completed a successful recruitment drive to enlarge its skilled workforce by 45 per cent. The new staff are supporting the extension of the yard itself, which has been able to grow on land adjacent to the waterside site in Groot-Ammers, the Netherlands.

Project: Benetti B.Now 67M

Benetti semi-custom B.Now range designed by RWD for exterior and Pierluigi Ausonio for naval architecture keeps on progressing and following the success of the 50M model launched in the fall of 2021 and sold in fifteen units, presents more details with the larger 67M unit.  A quadruple deck sixty seven meter super yacht the Benetti B.Now 67M offers interior accommodation for twelve to fourteen guests in seven cabins.  Crew space is for seventeen in ten cabins.  The Benetti B.Now 67M liks the smaller sister is offered in Traditional aft or the more open Oasis deck versions.  The Benetti B.Now 67M is to be powered by Diesel engines with E.Mode hybrid solution available as optional.  No performance or power data is provided but Benetti does say that a range of five thousand nautical miles is possible at twelve knots.  The Benetti B.Now 67M has three units being build, with the first hull set to launch in 2025 and hulls two and three following in 2026.  The Benetti B.Now range is a four model semi custom range designed by RWD for exterior and Pierluigi Ausonio presented by the largest and most prolific yacht builder in 2018 with a 63m project, which became a 66m in 2021 and in 2022 became this 67M unit.  The B.Now range distinct itself for having two aft deck; Traditional and or Oasis versions.  Apart the top selling 50M and 67M units, Benetti also has a 60 and 72 meter projects, with hull one of the sixty meter in initial project stages and set for a 2027 completion date.

Abandoned Sport Cruiser Sinks in Allegheny River

A nine meter classic Bayliner sport cruiser who was left moored on the North Shore of the Allegheny River, in Pittsburgh since end of Summer partially sank following an ice and snow storm on the 28 December 2022.  Residents from the area said the boat arrived during the Summer time, and unlike the other boats who come in the nice weather season remained on the spot.  An end December cold crunch and snow storm, with temperatures going down to minus twenty degrees Celsius, partially sank the boat, as when the ice defrosted it became water which entered its bilges and hull.  
After the storm Pittsburgh authorities have been trying to contact the ownership since early January who was not interested in salvaging the partly sank boat.  Becoming a huge eye soar the Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County finally intervened, and on 28 March at 1300 hours local time removed the boat from the spot.
This Bayliner in this part sinking is a 3150 Conquest, as produced from 1978 till 1980, with the model evolving into the 3250 Conquest in 1981.  The Conquest was a sport cruiser which was ahead of its time when it debuted, and important in creating the medium sized express cruiser which dominated the sub fifty foot market in the eighties and nineties.

New Model: Pearl 72

Pearl Yachts presented the new 72 to the public for the first time at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale boat show at the end of October, approximately a year after the announcement of the project in Cannes 2021.  The 72 offer to the market is still unique in her class with Pearl design of exteriors from Dixon and interior from Kelly Hoppen CBE now doing all the four model line-up from the 62 to the 95 flagship super yacht. In terms of layout the Pearl 72 makes a unique introduction in this size-class with two master staterooms; one forward with a private entrance as typically seen on larger yachts, and the second for a full beam amidships. In addition to providing an ideal solution for co-owners who enjoy the yacht together, the innovative layout allows owners to enjoy a beautiful view even when moored stern-to in a marina. There are two further en-suite double cabins plus accommodation for the crew, in addition to an exceptional garage with space for a three meter and a half plus tender or jet ski. Fold down balconies at water level also create a beach club for those who enjoy spending time on or close to the water.  The Kelly Hoppen interior show her ever-evolving style, defined by a subtle fusion of clean lines and neutral tones, intuitively balanced with an opulent warmth, honoured with numerous prestigious awards.  The Pearl 72 carries another premiere on board: Kelly’s new “Indulgence” interior design theme. The design intent of this yacht is to capture New York City urban living on water, while enhancing and working with the incredible mechanical features that have been achieved. Yacht Burns and Sinks in Rio de la Plata

A twenty meter motor yacht titled m/y Azimut III with three crew onboard burst into flames and eventually sank in Rio de la Plata, Argentina at about 06:45 hours of 27 December.  The motor yacht departed San Fernando at 05:15 bound Punta dell Este Uruguay, and one hour and half into the trip it went ablaze.  The crew was assisted by nearby yacht Le Plus.  Victor Silveira the captain who was given this duty for the yacht for the coming two months told the story and how in three minutes the yacht was ablaze and eventually burned down and sank.  
M/y Azimut III is a Segue 62 a model produced from the late nineties up to the early 2000s.  Founded in 1974 Segue yachts is an Argentina yacht builder popular in South America, though recently it has also been entering into the North American market.  Today Segue builds twelve cruisers and yachts from 32 up to 94 feet.

Improve-it = Outer Reef 650 Classic MY

For years the 700 Classic Motoryacht has been the most popular model for Outer Reef thanks to her sheer volume, ample storage, ease of owner operation, award winning performance in blue waters and the list goes on.  For 2022 Outer Reef decided to improve the 650 Classic MY putting some of the features of the bigger 700 sister.  The a re-engineered Outer Reef 650 Classic MY thus takes useful design cues from her larger sister, which will include the following.  A larger galley with open layout dimensionally mimicking the 700 Series with full-size refrigeration appliance station, and main deck with day head to starboard.  Below deck accommodation with heads fore and aft the master king berth emulating the 700 Series.  Other improvements come in the internal stairs from the salon to the crew cabin which also follows the improved layout of crew/guest quarters aft with the new internal staircase.  This layout also makes it possible to specs the crew cabin as a guest suite making the 650 Classic MY a four cabin yacht.  Last but not lease the 650 Classic MY is now added with a fiberglass staircase to the flybridge versus the previous stainless steel ladder.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SD90

Launched in Summer to a design of Zuccon the Sanlorenzo SD90 is the new entry level of the Italian builders SD semi displacement traditional ship looking fiberglass super yacht range.  The SD90 is also the smallest Sanlorenzo SD ever made replacing the Francesco Paszkowski designed SD92 which debuted the range in 2007 and sold 24 units in a production lasting twelve years.  This new SD90 is not the replacement of the 92, that model was replaced by the slightly larger SD96 which debuted in 2020.  Similar in size there is certain distinct features between the two small Sanlorenzo SD divided by two meters in length.  For example the bigger SD96 is a semi wide body, this new SD90 is about twenty% wide body serving only the master cabin located on the forward part of the main deck, and with this being unnoticeable from the outside.  This is made thanks to the raised flush deck located forward, which apart giving a traditional twist is also a novelty for this type of super yacht.  The new SD90 seems also to be a four cabin layout only yacht with the plans available thus far, although I am sure if someone would ask nicely Sanlorenzo might find a way to make five, with four cabins in the lower deck version of the yacht, since the standard layout has three rather big suites in the lower deck.  The Sanlorenzo SD90 is powered by twin Man 800hp as standard with optional 1200hp engines available.  Sanlorenzo has up till today six SD90 in build.

Project: AB Yachts 787

AB Yachts present the project for a new entry level 787 model.  Reported as designed in house by AB Yachts the 787 presents itself as a very minimal styled sport yacht available with a fully enclosed hard-top as pictured above or fully open as a big day centre console yacht with or without T-Top.  The accommodation plan of the 787 is fully custom while crew accommodation is for four in two cabins.  AB Yachts 787 is to be powered by triple Man 1200hp engines with MJP water jets propulsion giving speeds up to 56 knots and a cruise of fifty, this giving a range of 500 nautical miles. Hull one of the AB Yachts 787 reportedly in final stages of construction is to be a hard-top version.

New Model: Riviera 46 Sports Motor Yacht

Riviera has proudly launched its new 46 Sports Motor Yacht at a special event on Australia's Gold Coast. The 46 is now the new entry level of the Sports Motor Yacht line up that began in 2017 with the launch of the 68 and now includes the 50, 64 and 72 models. The Riviera design team in collaboration with 4D Designs have created a special yacht, with the 46 Sports Motor Yacht offering similar amenity to her larger siblings including multiple entertaining spaces that stretch from the long boarding bathing platform to relaxing foredeck sun lounges and a generous open flybridge that can accommodate eight guests in great comfort. The covered alfresco deck forward of the cockpit expands the saloon living space through a sliding glass door and large awning window that seamlessly connects guests with the galley immediately forward. The yacht's accommodation deck offers three double staterooms and two generous bathrooms. The master stateroom and en-suite bathroom are forward while two guest staterooms are at midships. Terranova New Web Site

Terranova Yachts presents its new World wide web showroom.  Terranova was founded in 2000 immediately focusing on semi displacement ship like explorer and super yachts with a Mediterranean take on design and layout. Taken over in 2015 by Massimigliano Zilioli a boat owner for over twenty years, the new ownership focused on restoring the principles opening its headquarters in Grone near Bergamo, and a shipyard at the Navicelli in Pisa.  Showing its Italian routes the brand is now renamed as Terranova Italian Yachts.  The current line up offers six models; 90, TM90, T90, T100, T108, and F92. Project: Arcadia A96

Presented during an online press conference, Arcadia has revealed project details for its upcoming A96 model, a triple deck super yacht currently under construction and set to launch in mid 2023.  Arcadia says the A96 design is a cross inspiration between its entry level Sherpa and A for super yacht series, although the first renderings do make it look a much polished offer, different to the other Arcadias both smaller and bigger.  The Sherpa A96 will sit in between the A85 first model of the brand launched in 2010 and delivered in fourteen units up till today, and the A105.  Having a distinctive look to other Arcadia yachts it seems Francesco Guida the designer of all previous Arcadias is not involved in the A96, with Igor Lobanov credited for the interior.  The top deck design is distinctive Arcadia design language though, while the lower deck is a more stream lined affair looking cleaner and similar to other offerings in this size, with a less Arcadia utilitarian look. The Arcadia A96 will offer guest accommodation for ten guests in five cabins including which is an owners stateroom on the forward part of the main deck.  Aft deck space while a bit less open to the other Arcadia's is still possibly the most spacious in the category, which can also be increased thanks to four flipping bulkheads, two aft, and two optional at midship which serve as balconies to the inner saloon.  The Arcadia A96 is to be powered by quadruple Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp engines with IPS pod propulsion which according to estimates will give a 24 knots top speed, a sixteen cruise giving a  600 nautical miles of range, and a long range of 2000 nautical miles possible at ten knots.  Arcadia means also clean energy, and the A96 is solar power enhanced and able to store 4.5kw of power and or eight to nine hours of silence without the need to use a generator for running onboard utilities.

New Model: Riva 130 Bellissima

The sea is now a more beautiful place, forty metres length overall more beautiful to be precise, after the launch of Riva 130 Bellissima hull number one in La Spezia for an American owner. In Riva’s 180th anniversary year, the legendary Italian name has launched its largest fiberglass build to date, and a new flagship for its flybridge range. With a planning hull and over forty metres in length overall and a magnificent fusion of fine design, naval engineering, expert craftsmanship and high technology. Riva 130 Bellissima is the first planning flybridge in the range to extend across three real decks, with a semi-wide-body design, while remaining under 300 GT. The brainchild of Mauro Micheli, founder with Sergio Beretta of Officina Italiana Design, the firm that has designed all Riva’s yachts since 1991, who  working in partnership with the Strategic Product Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department. Carbon fibre, steel and glass are the distinctive features of the exterior styling. Riva 130 Bellissima is characterised by three simple lines along the silhouette: the windshield is made with spherical crystals and features the typical counter-curvature, while the hull window design is based on a black line that runs along the silvery side of the boat and rises towards the deck. Extensive glazed surfaces highlight the abundance of natural light that floods into the settings on the main and upper decks, offering magnificent panoramic views and gorgeously light-filled interiors. Aft, the all-glass fashion plates enhance the aerodynamics of the yacht and tell a story of appeal and elegance. The air intake grills and carbon fibre detailing are a reference to traditional car design, while the hard top brings dynamism and style with its sporty personality. 130 Bellissima exteriors introduce a new concept for the stern area, which is lower, open to the water, and divided into a large Beach Club and a generous cockpit: over sixty square metres of liveable space. The jet ski, tender and seabob are stored in the port hull side. In the bow, the owner is accommodated in a spacious area divided into a lounge, a large sun pad and other more intimate, private spaces. On the upper deck where the outdoor area in the stern is set up as a dining area seating ten, the side walkways create two closed, private balconies. Above this is the sundeck, an area where guests can be invited for cocktails in a relaxing atmosphere. Riva 130 Bellissima’s interiors feature a main saloon surrounded by glass and light, with an unimpeded 270-degree view and ceilings over two metres high: a one-of-a-kind space featuring an interplay between fine glass transparencies and polished rosewood. Clever use is made of the full beam, measuring almost eight metres. The cabin layout puts the master suite on the main deck and four cabins on the lower deck, separated by a large lobby and all with en-suite bathrooms. Riva 130 Bellissima is powered by twin MTU 2638ph engines, giving a top speed of 22 knots and a cruise twenty.  Currently Riva has seven more 130 Bellissima in build with order book going into 2026.

Project: Invictus TT420

Invictus completes its range with the project of TT420, filling the gap between the TT460 flagship and GT370 models, and currently under going finishing touches and preparing itself to make its world début at the upcoming Dusseldorf 2023 boat show, set to be held in Düsseldorf January 2023.  Designed as the other Invictus by Christian Grande the essential lines of this new twelve meter are distinctive of Invictus hulls, combining style and attention to performance, with the profile incorporating the stylistic features of its bigger TT460 sister a winner of the Design Innovation Award in 2020, and characterised by the elegant features of the windshield, which blend seamlessly into the carbon hardtop and further streamline the powerful mass of this model. The integral glass windshield with wipers, in particular, represents an unusual solution on this size of boat and protects during navigation. At the same time, a front opening system ensures an effective air circulation when at anchor.  The deck, characterised along its entire length by a comfortable perimeter walkway protected by high bulwarks, has a large bow sundeck that can be converted into a chaise longue, transforming it into a romantic and enchanting corner ideal for comfortably enjoying the cruise or sipping a quiet aperitif. Amidships, thanks to the folding tables, the spacious dinette can be converted into a large space for relaxation, sheltered by the hard top. At the same height, the sides can be equipped, optionally, with two collapsible side terraces, thus increasing the living space on board, but, above all, offering a perception of openness towards the outside that is best appreciated during lunch and when relaxing: a solution that breaks down the ideal barrier dividing the boat from the surrounding environment.  The aft swim platform is teak-covered, as is the whole deck. The shipyard offers the option of equipping it with a hydraulic handling device to facilitate boarding and managing the tender plus a garage large enough to accommodate a 2.10-metre tender, are features rarely found on this category of sport cruisers.  Internally, Christian Grande has opted for an open space solution. Upon entering, the spacious living area is in full display, with U-shaped rotating sofas, which can surprisingly transform into a comfortable double bed. Aft is a cabin with separate beds. The generous bulwarks have made it possible to obtain remarkable internal heights, which have been used for a large bathroom with separate shower.  The first unit of the new TT420 will be in the shipyard's identifying Personal White colour. But this new TT420, like its larger TT460, will later be available in the special Vogue White colour, which represents the ability of Invictus to always deliver a unique interpretation of even a “simple” colour as white. The Invictus TT420 is to be powered by twin Volvo 320hp or 440hp with stern drive propulsion.

New Model: Rizzardi GR Sessantatre

Dare to be timeless, is the intro to the video promotion of the new for 2022 Rizzardi GR Sessantatre which looks to the roots of the Italian open sport yacht of the eighties and nineties and of itself in the Topline series which debuted with the 53 in 1992, and was followed successfully by the 50 in 2000, and 63 in 2002.  The Toplines where recognized from the previous Rizzardi Day series by the large engine air intakes located at midships just under the top deck giving a sense of power and performance, and the flush fore deck. This new GR Sessantatre is based on the hull lines of the 63 Topline produced from 2002 till 2012 and is dedicated to founder Gianfranco Rizzardi, the initials represent the man who founded the boat yard to his name back in 1978.  The GR Sessantatre looks at tradition in the type of power set up; central mounted engines and direct line shaft engines, and layout having an aft VIP suite cabin which is spacious as a master cabin.   It is in many details a classic open sport yacht, flush deck, aft sun-pad but go inside in the main cabin deck and un-edited layout is present with the owners cabin located forward looking aft to use the full beam of the yacht, and a third guest cabin having twin berths.  Other modern of today times amenities which the GR Sessantatre features will be the up and down bathing platform aft, and also the forward bimini which opens and closes with an automatic press button movement.  Power for the Rizzardi GR Sessantatre will come from twin Man 1200hp as standard or optional 1300hp engines giving top speeds up to 38 knots with the large units.  A fully semi-custom product, the GR Sessantatre is also available without radar arch as a fully open version, and both exterior and interior layouts can be customised to owner wishes.

Sunseeker Saved from Sinking in Haulover

A sixteen meter Sunseeker flybridge yacht with twelve passengers aboard was saved from sinking in the famous Haulover inlet Miami Dade, Florida at 1420 hours of twelve December.  The event was fully filmed by YouTube channel Wavyboats.  The immediate positive reaction of the crew was to transfer the woman and children from the yacht to a safe location with the yachts tender.  The yacht was first assisted by TowBoatUS and later ITowBoats, with Miami Police and Miami Dade Fire Rescue coming to the scene.  ITowBoatUS in the end assisted the yacht and followed it back to a safe marina.  According to reports the Sunseeker yacht had a broken hose pipe in the engine room.
The Sunseeker yacht in this accident is a Manhattan 52 second series model.  Debuting in the fall of 2016  and replacing the 55, the second generation Manhattan 52 was a huge sales success thanks to its full beam midships staterooms.  Sunseeker sold 131 Manhattan 52 in a four year production run, and evolved the model with minor design tweaks into the 55 in the fall of 2020.

New Model: Salpa 35 Avantgarde

Back in 2010 Salpa was among the first European Italian boat builders to get into the centre console sport cruiser revolution, entered with the 30 GT model which is still in production today.  Twelve years later Salpa is back again with a new centre console sport cruiser, a different model to the GT series also offered in a 40 model with this new Avantgarde 35.  Forward thinking as its name suggests the new Salpa 35 Avantgarde is a walk around centre console sport cruiser with modern looking lines and the reverse shear bow which steals the attention outside.  Considering its exterior spaces and its size the Avantgarde 35 is also spacious below decks offering accommodation for four, in a forward double berth and twin berths at midships, with shower head and mini galley in between the sleeping areas.  But the forward thinking of the Salpa 35 Avantgarde continues in the power and propulsion options for the standard twin Yamaha or Mercury outboards from 250 up to 350hp engines to the single FNM 350hp diesel with line shaft with innovative option for a hybrid with 33hp electric motor set up.

Amer New Web Site

Amer Yachts from Sanremo Liguria region in Italy presents its new World wide web showroom. Founded by Fernando Amerio, the life of Amer yachts starts in the early sixties. In this period Fernando starts a boat service company and in 1973 this develops to the Permare Nautical Center. In 1988 Amerio makes an important step taking over the sixties founded Mediterraneo ship yard facility, located on the outskirts of San Remo yachting harbour. Amerio renews Mediterraneo completely and to it's strong facilities adds a new one hundred tons travel lift. In the nineties Permare starts to build motor yachts under contract from Antago and Raffaelli. For Raffaelli it is the AMC series of 20, 22 and 25 meter model.  Along with the Antago models Permare will build 52 units of these yachts for a total of ten models. The first Amer unit will be the 24 which was a success and is to be followed a few years later by the 86 model; designed by Profilodesign, and Andrea Bacigalupo for hull. Currently the Amer line up offers three super yacht models which start with the still in project 950, F100, and the 120 flagship, with a reported 70 Steel under construction for a European client and set for a 2026 delivery. Amer has since 2009 received 37 prizes and honours with its most important being the Nautical Pioneer handed to founder Fernando Amerio in 2012. Project: Overmarine Mangusta 132 E

Overmarine Mangusta updates the 132 model by presenting the project for the 132 E for Evolution. The Mangusta 132 model debuted in 2015 with two units delivered since then, with this updated new E currently in build set for a 2023 delivery being the third of the series. The Overmarine Mangusta 132 E is the last of Stefano Righini designed units and will have interiors designed by Alberto Mancini.  Distinct features of the Mangusa 132 E will be the hull glazing, a larger fore deck lounge area with additional settees looking aft, and a more sweeping profile to the radar arch.  The Mangusta 132 E will offer accommodation for eleven guests in five cabins, and six crew in three cabins.  The Mangusta 132 E is to be powered by triple 2600hp MTU with jet drive propulsion which will give top speed up to 35 knots and a cruise of thirty.

New Model: Mimi Libeccio 13.5 Cabin

Mimi presents its largest build to date with the Libeccio 13.5 Cabin.  As all Libeccio Italian meaning for South West the 13.5 Cabin is a traditional Sorrento Gozzo inspired cruiser designed by Valerio Rivellini.  The Mimi Libeccio 13.5 Cabin will offer a lower deck with three double cabins and two heads; owners forward and two double guest cabins at midships. A two cabins version is also available.  In the three cabins version the living with dinette and galley are located on the main deck under the hard-top.  Unusual for a traditional gozzo the Libeccio 13.5 also features a tender garage under the aft sun-pad.  The Mimi Libeccio 13.5 Cabin is powered by twin Yanmar 370hp which give a top speed up to thirty knots.
