Arcadia Increases Production Area

Arcadia is proud to announce it has acquired 21% of Marina di Torre Annunziata srl and, at the same time, an additional area for production and for hauling-out and launching near the shipyard itself. The new site is next to the current facility, which is the result of investments worth more than thirty million euro over the past ten years. Arcadia’s production capacity therefore rises by about 11,000 square metres (of which over 40% indoors), so the entire production area is now greater than 47,000 square metres. The surface has increased by 30% in relation to the current 36,000 square metre facility. The strategic choice is aimed at supporting an increase in the number of yachts under production and the after-sales services.  “To increase production capacity, to develop larger products without altering the Arcadia DNA and to continue having a solid and direct relationship with our customers are the reasons behind this operation,” commented Ugo Pellegrino, Sole Director of Arcadia Yachts. “The orders taken, the ongoing negotiations and the enthusiasm recorded for the most recent models encourage me and the other shareholders to take on our entrepreneurial responsibilities and seize all the opportunities that arise - obviously assessing the related risks.”  These positive feelings add to the importance that Arcadia Yachts has always associated with after-sales activities. Thanks to post-sales work (this year 40% of customers had the shipyard deal with the wintering and maintenance of their vessels), Arcadia has succeeded in establishing solid, continuous and direct relationships with captains and Owners, to the point that over 25% of customers have become Repeat Customers over the years.  “It was almost automatic for us to identify the acquisition of 21% of the Marina di Torre Annunziata as a fundamental option for the natural growth of our activities, in line with our principles and with what we have done so far,” said Mr Pellegrino.

Benetti Yacht Master 2018

Another gratification for Benetti after the positive feedback from sponsors, yachting professionals, captains and crews who attended the Benetti Yachtmaster 2018. During the five legs of this edition more and more contemporary topics in the yachting business have emerged, above all the increasingly importance of environmental protection. After the October 2017 Spanish event and the last February Italian leg, in May it was the time of Miami for the last event of this edition. The US leg was preceded in April by the Singapore and Monaco Roadshows.  Wonderful feedback for the eighteenth edition of the Benetti Yachtmaster, the event that gathers together captains and yachting professionals and brings them up to speed on all the novelties and at the same time offers a series of panel discussions and networking opportunities. In addition, the last US event (from May 2 to 4), which ended with a large party and the promise to return next year, confirmed the success of this event and affirmed its role as one of the most important gathering of industry professionals, organised by a private shipyard.  Important novelties have been introduced for this last leg. First and foremost was the change of location: Benetti has left the water and chosen to move to exclusive downtown Miami, the beating heart of this city with its spectacular ultra-modern skyline. Introduced by Roberto Corno, Worldwide Sales Director, the American event was attended by 34 professionals, many of them attending Yachtmaster for the first time.

Its strengths are of course the high-performance and agile handling characteristics which are typical for Frauscher. Hatteras Crosses Atlantic on Own Bottom

Hatteras Yachts, a world leader in the construction of convertible sportfishing and luxury motor yachts from 45 to 105 feet, is proud to announce that the Hatteras GT63 Post One successfully completed a transatlantic crossing from Bermuda to Horta in the Azores. The 63 foot sportfishing yacht made the trip accompanied by her owner’s motor yacht, the 148-foot Cheoy Lee M/Y Dorothea III, which refuelled her “fishing tender” en route.  Captain John Crupi, fleet captain for Dorothea III and Post One, reported that the 1,985-nautical mile, nine-day trip made history according to 30-year Horta resident and Port Agent Duncan Sweet: The Hatteras GT63 is the first production-built fiberglass sportfishing yacht to have made the transatlantic crossing on its own bottom. “I’ve called the ocean home for more than 20 years. Having traveled hundreds of thousands of miles, you sort of become used to things not going as planned, said Capt. Crupi. “When we first came up with the idea of both Dorothea III and Post One crossing the Atlantic together, my mind immediately switched to the ‘what ifs’ and contingency planning to deal with issues underway. While we had plans in place for these ‘what ifs’, they simply never happened. Between June 19th and July 21st, Post One traveled 4,085 nautical miles on her own bottom from Panama to Azores, Portugal. During this she also fished six days in Bermuda. That is a total of 27 days underway in a 33-day time span without a single issue. That is simply amazing. Post One performed flawlessly – a real tribute to the Hatteras brand and to the people who build these boats. Great Job, Hatteras!”  Capt. Josh Heater, who was at the GT63’s helm for the transatlantic crossing, said: “Team Hatteras isn’t a concept – it’s a reality. The attention to detail, advanced hull design, engineering, and fit and finish is what makes this boat and this brand a legend. As the saying goes, there’s no ‘I’ in ‘team’ and that is a philosophy that is applied at its highest level from lamination through delivery. Thank you, Team Hatteras – you built us a great boat!”  “The ultimate test for any sportfishing yacht is seaworthiness and offshore capabilities,” said Hatteras Yachts President and CEO Kelly Grindle. “Only the Hatteras GT Series deliver speeds in excess of 40 knots with tournament-ready fishing features, and are built to be tough and reliable in a wide range of sea conditions.”  Post One and Dorothea III left Bermuda via Town Cut at 6:30 am on July 12th. Captain Josh Heater drove the Hatteras GT63, while Captain Crupi was at the helm of the Cheoy Lee. Thanks to savvy weather routing, the yachts enjoyed the benefits of a high-pressure system, including light winds and relatively calm seas, during the crossing. This greatly aided them in the tricky procedure of refueling Post One from the mother ship’s diesel fuel reserves, utilizing a specially adapted fuel fill on the sportfisherman. Three times during the crossing, the crew transferred close to 1,500 gallons of fuel between the two boats while under way.  The yachts arrived at Horta at 8:00 am local time on July 20th. “Captain Heater did an amazing job and all who know him are very proud of what he has accomplished,” said Capt. Crupi after the GT 63 made. “Except for a washdown and some interior cleaning, fishing preparations had all been done en route, and Post One will be fishing for blue marlin on Azores Bank tomorrow.”  Post One’s owner and crew are not only fishing for sport. They recently embarked on The Marlin Mission, a fundraising campaign that gives donors the opportunity to pledge a dollar amount for every blue marlin the Hatteras GT63 catches. The proceeds will be used to purchase much-needed school supplies for children in the Islands of Cape Verde and the remote communities of Brazil.

Hatteras Club Rendezvous Bahamas 2018

The Hatteras Club Rendezvous fleet left Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades Inlet on Friday, June 22, bound for Grand Bahama Island. The mix of motor and sportfishing yachts that participated in the 2018 Rendezvous included: • M90 Panacera Snowghost – Florida • M75 Panacera Quay II – Florida • M60 Getaway – Florida • 68 Convertible Showtime – Puerto Rico • GT45X Reel Energy – California • GT63 Hatterascal – New Bern, N.C. After three hours under way, the fleet, led by the brand new GT63 Hatterascal, arrived at the Grand Bahama Yacht Club. All the vessels received complimentary washdowns from the marina staff, which we enjoyed at each stop throughout the trip. That evening, everyone gathered for a welcome cocktail party poolside with traditional Bahamian fare, cocktails and live Junkanoo music and dancing. On Saturday, we arranged for a local catamaran to take the group snorkeling. Afterwards, we all headed to a pristine beach for Bahama Mamas and a BBQ lunch. Sunday saw the fleet move on to Chub Cay, a private island at the tip of the Berry Island chain that’s known for its outstanding fishing. That evening, everyone decked out their yachts for the Parrothead/Cheeseburger in Paradise-themed Yacht Hop on the docks, one of the highlights of the week. The contest for best décor, costume, signature cocktail, and tasting dish made for a very festive and fun evening. On Monday morning, the fleet took off for the five-hour run to Harbour Island, Eleuthera, in the Bahamas Out Islands. Once again, the voyage was ultra-smooth aboard well-built Hatteras Yachts. Romora Bay Marina, our home for the next three days, welcomed us with boat washdowns, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Rendezvous participants enjoyed plenty of free time to explore Harbour Island with its legendary pink sand beaches. But on Tuesday, everyone got together for the Amazing Race Golf Cart Tour, followed by a lunch at Romora Bay where we crowned the Amazing Race winners, shown at left. The next evening, Coral Sands Hotel hosted the group for cocktails on the terrace, followed by an elegant dinner accompanied by live entertainment. The Marina at Atlantis on Paradise Island was the final stop on the Hatteras Club Rendezvous itinerary. With the resort’s casino, water park (complete with shark-infested water slides) and shopping just steps away, there was plenty to entertain everyone, no matter their age or inclination! On Friday, the Hatterascal took the group to Rose Island, a spectacular private island about three miles from Atlantis. Complimentary parasailing and Jet-Skiing were accompanied by a delicious lunch on the beach. Saturday night’s awards dinner, held at Luciano’s of Chicago, a fine Italian restaurant on the waterfront in Nassau, gave the group an opportunity to get together, celebrate each other and share memories of the Rendezvous. The next day, the boats departed for the run back to Fort Lauderdale.

Horizon Mid Year Report 2018

After a successful 2017 year, Horizon Yachts continues to thrive with increased orders in the first two quarters in 2018 and a total of seven luxury yacht deliveries, three of which are over 80 feet in length. Additionally 18 luxury yachts are currently in build and will be delivered to their owners between the remainder of 2018 and the first half of 2019.  Three deliveries that took place in the first half year were for two FD87 Skyline and one FD85 motoryachts, showcasing the popularity of the designs. The FD series is known for its contemporary style lines, flexible cruising speeds, and spacious interior volume, which has attracted the attention of many seasoned owners and resulted in new build orders. By the second quarter of 2019, an additional four FD models; three FD87’s and one FD85, will be delivering to the American, Australian, and European markets. Moreover, another new model of FD series, FD77, is being built, and will make her debut in the first quarter of 2019. As for Horizon models under 80 feet, four yachts that completed the first half year include hull one of the new V68 motoryacht and PC52 and PC60 power catamaran models. The V68 with her “superyacht attitude” was extremely well received during her debut in the U.S. earlier this year, and Horizon received increased enquiries as a result. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Horizon’s V series, and the company will deliver a new V81 this summer to her owner – a fitting way to celebrate! In the next few months, four new PC series builds – including the newest PC65 model – will be delivered to her owners in the U.S. for blue-water cruising.  An exciting new build order for the CC115 superyacht will be finishing in the third quarter. This CC115 is a customized raised pilothouse that was designed in collaboration with Cor D. Rover (the designer of the FD series). These experienced owners loved the Horizon RP models but wanted something a little bit different; working with Horizon and Cor, the owners outfitted their superyacht with a Portuguese bridge around the bridge deck and innovative features aimed at the owners very specific use requirements with family and friends. This new CC115 is currently in dry dock testing stage, with completion scheduled in September. Last but certainly not least, two E series models will deliver in the third and fourth quarters – one E88 for the U.S. market in July and one E75 for the Australian market in November. Additionally in the spring of 2019, another E75 will be delivered to her Australian owners, and an E98 motoryacht will be completed in July of next year. Designed by John Lindblom, these models are established and popular with various global markets thanks to their sleek design, flexible layout options, and myriad of amenities. John Lu, CEO of Horizon Yachts, said, “This stable increase of new yacht builds represents the high level of trust each owner bestows to Horizon Yachts. We are not merely building yachts for our clients, we are building a dream. With on-going growth in the third quarter and optimistic signs for the fourth quarter, we look forward continued success for Horizon into the 2019 year.”

Maritimo Steps Up International Outreach with New Appointment

Australian luxury motor yacht manufacturer, Maritimo, has reinvigorated its sales and marketing initiatives in the Americas, Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Caribbean as part of its international strategic expansion and brand awareness enhancement.  Maritimo has engaged one of the most successful and experienced boating sector operatives in the USA, Dave Northrop, to head up the new sales structure across all these territories.  For Northrop it is a return to the Maritimo fold having represented the company in the USA previously for 10 years.  Maritimo currently exports approximately 50 percent of its production capacity to the USA and Northrop's appointment to boost international marketing efforts comes at a time when the company is enjoying tremendous success with its recently released revolutionary sport yacht range, the X Series. The X 60, revealed at the recent Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, has already sold well into the US market and is tipped to enjoy broad appeal there when its exposure is ramped up as part of the new sales and marketing structure.  Corbitt said Maritimo is extremely confident Northrop is the right person with the right ability, knowledge and experience to see the company's goals come to fruition.  Dave Northrop, who will be dividing his time between Michigan and Fort Lauderdale, said he was excited to be back with Maritimo and operating in an expanded role.

Riva Brand Experience in Sardinia

Riva temporary shop: the legendary international yachting shipyard in the extraordinary setting of Porto Cervo.  In a unique setting, elegance and style are fused and tell a legendary tale that continues to offer incomparable experiences and delights. This is the philosophy behind the Riva temporary shop selling Riva Brand Experience products, which will be open until 8 September. It is located at the new Waterfront Costa Smeralda luxury village, in one of the most exclusive parts of Italy.  Designed by the internationally renowned architect Gio Pagani on behalf of Smeralda Holding, the refined setting plays host to world famous brands, luxury fashion boutiques and unprecedented events, which are made even more magical by high-profile guests such as writers, entertainers, athletes and artists from Italy and across the globe.  The unique, inimitable items by Riva Brand Experience are the real stars of the Riva temporary boutique. The refined selection of accessories and furnishings is also available online, in the Riva Boutique.  In addition, a Riva Iseo is on display to add an extra special touch to the brand’s temporary home at Waterfront Costa Smeralda. Guests can get a close look at the 27-footer, which is one of the most popular masterpieces by the long-standing shipyard from Sarnico.  The Riva temporary boutique joins an assortment of one-of-a-kind Riva-branded locations in a range of forms: the Riva Lounge that takes center stage on the terrace of Gritti Palace in Venice (one of the most famous hotels in the world), the Riva Privé inside Milan’s Garage Italia, the Riva Private Deck set up by Mykonos’ Psarou Beach, and the Aquarama Lounge on the fourth floor of the Yacht Club de Monaco. The furnishings and accessories by Riva Brand Experience (starting with the Aquarama tables and chairs) are the key distinguishing features of all of these extremely stylish spaces, which are designed to entertain guests in surroundings with peerless atmospheres.  There has always been a strong, fertile bond between artists and the nautical art of Riva. It has produced ample fruits in the worlds of film, fashion and industrial design.  The close ties between artistic prowess and yachting ingenuity have been underlined thanks to the creative spark provided by the marvelous Salvador Dalí exhibition, which will take place in the Porto Cervo Conference Centre until 22 September. Visitors will get the chance to see 100 watercolor woodblock prints produced and signed by the master of surrealism. They are all illustrations of the Divine Comedy: the masterpiece by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. They will appear alongside two exhibitions dedicated to legendary Riva exploits.  The first is entitled “Riva Corsa” and it features pictures and photographs from the highly acclaimed book Riva Corsa. The Origin of the Myth. The publication depicts the world of boat racing, in which Serafino Riva (Carlo Riva’s father) claimed a stunning series of wins, awards and records from the 1930s onward. The remarkable sporting feats are noteworthy for a number of reasons, including the fact that they helped to shape the sublime skills of Carlo Riva, teaching him to design and build vessels that were not just attractive but also fast and capable of exceptional performances.  “Riva e le donne” (“Riva and Women”) is a photography exhibition that charts the long, never-ending love felt by women all over the world for one of the most popular names in Italian style. The pictures portraying the liaison contain not only Hollywood stars but also the women who worked behind the scenes to build the dream. Every single one of them felt the allure of the timeless lines of the runabouts, the prized types of wood, the sparkling chrome and the colors, including the famous “Riva aquamarine blue”.

Rosetti Unveils Remote Control Navigation

Rosetti is ahead of the curve. Thanks to the Rosetti Marino Group’s proven experience in the field of shipbuilding, technological innovation and cutting-edge navigation solutions, we are working with the Group’s R&D department to transfer avant-garde Remote Control technology from the commercial sector and adapt it for use in yachting. Rosetti Superyachts is at the forefront of a technological innovation that provides a competitive advantage that no other yacht builder in the world can offer. In the autonomous revolution that is underway, nearly every transportation vehicle will eventually be self-driving. For cars, it is likely to take years before we see them operating freely outside of test conditions on our roads. But some commercial unmanned vessels may be at sea before the end of the decade and the logical conclusion is that superyachts will follow.  The revolutionary Remote Control System is based on a M2M connection (machine-to-machine) system installed aboard Giano Tug guaranteed by two Internet encrypted tunnels that ensure Cyber Security with a direct connection between the ship and Remote Bridge, without needing to go through third party servers. It is thus possible to remotely manage Giano wherever it is, controlling the video system, the navigation, propulsion and engine room equipment.  The Giano Tug, a Lloyds Register-certified tugboat, was presented during the 2018 “ITS Tugnology” convention in Marseille from 25 to 29 June, when Captain Carsten Nygaard was able to control the tug from the stand using the remote console.  Using the same logic and remote console, which replicate the controls found on the bridge, a yacht could be manoeuvred without geographical limits by a senior officer located in a land-based office. The commands are relayed to dry land by the captain on board the vessel. A route can then be entered and the yacht ‘delivered’ to its final destination and progress is monitored via a video system and night-vision cameras, assuring double control during navigation to avoid collisions.  Much of the technology for autonomous vessels is already in place, but regulation needs to be properly updated. Autonomous ships are an area of special interest to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), which sets the standards for national and international waters. Last year, the IMO launched a regulatory scoping exercise to analyse the impact of self-driving vessels.  The extent of regulatory change will depend on the level of autonomy permitted, and Lloyd’s Register, for example, has already published classification guidance for six autonomy levels. Maritime law is one of the oldest legal systems in the world that has successfully adapted from sail to steam and beyond – no doubt the same will hold true for autonomous remote-controlled vessels in the near future.

The yachts that have just been launched include SL86 E Motion, a model from the new hybrid propulsion and diesel/electric range launched in January 2018 which goes to show Sanlorenzo’s attention for the development of ecologically sustainable technologies. In fact these models are able to ensure greater efficiency, high comfort and safety, flexibility and a significant decrease in emissions.  Having just reached such a major milestone as its 60th year in the business, Sanlorenzo continues its activity as a producer of sartorial yachts capable of introducing new ways of living on board with a bold, groundbreaking approach, achieving maximum harmony between interior and exterior spaces, imposing itself as one of the main shipyards worldwide for the production of yachts and superyachts. Sanlorenzo yachts are produced in the Viareggio and Ameglia shipyards which will undergo an important enlargement and restoration process, as will the shipyard in La Spezia, which focuses on the production of superyachts, with a 60-million euro investment, 30 of which will be used to create new products and for research and development.  Thanks to the managing skills of Cavalier Massimo Perotti, Chairman and Ceo, Sanlorenzo continues to grow, as confirmed by the fact that its turnover went from 40 million euros in 2005 to 300 million euros in 2017, while still focusing on product customisation. As a matter of fact, for 60 years Sanlorenzo has created over 950 yachts, one different from all others, responding to customers’ specific requests.

Viking at Gulf Coast Triple Crown

The third time is yet another charm for Jon Gonsoulin, his daughter Katie, Captain Jason Buck and the Viking 70 Done Deal team. With the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship lead heading into the final leg, the Blue Marlin Grand Championship, the crew captured the Triple Crown for the third time after a dominant performance. At the BMGC Done Deal was named Top Release Team with four blues and one white marlin. It also took the 2nd Place Tournament Award after landing a 640.8-pound blue. Petite Katie whipped that fish after an eight-hour battle in the chair. In the history of this event, Done Deal is the only team to repeat as Triple Crown Champions. The team accomplished the feat back-to-back in 2012 and 2013. The third crown in 2018 sets an incredible new standard for competitive marlin fishing in the Gulf. "We've been fishing hard since 2013 to win the Crown again," Jon Gonsoulin said. "Adding Katie to the team as our designated angler has made it more special. There are a lot of great crews in the Gulf. But there's only one Captain Jason Buck." Done Deal wrapped up the season with a 1st Place tournament record blue in the Orange Beach Billfish Classic, 2nd Place Release in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic, 2nd Place in the Blue Marlin Grand Championship and bonus participation points. And they are in good company as four other Vikings stood at the top of the Triple Crown podium. Reel Addiction, a 56 Viking owned by Rocky Jones and run by Captain Scooter Porto, finished second in the standings. Reel Addiction had the 2nd Place fish in the Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic, 1st Place in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic and earned bonus points for competing in all five events. Third Place was Wynsong, Will Wilson's Viking 66 run by Captain Allen Staples. The team earned bonus points and a 1st Place win and 2nd Place Release honors in the Cajun Canyon tournament. Matt McDonald's Viking 68 Breathe Easy claimed 4th Place. Captain Patrick Ivie led his team to 2nd Place Blue in the Orange Beach Billfish Classic and 3rd Place in the Blue Marlin Grand Championship.  Rounding out the top five on the impressive leaderboard is Allen Krake's Viking 76Team Supreme. Team Supreme, with Captain Stan Blakeman behind the wheel, claimed 3rd Place Release at the Orange Beach Billfish Classic and 2nd Place Blue Marlin at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic.  "Congratulations to Jon, Katie, Jason and the entire Done Deal team for another stellar season. The competition was intense, but they truly demonstrated their skill level and commitment to winning," said GCTC Director Scott Burt. "Done Deal has established a dynasty in Gulf sportfishing that is going to be really hard to top."  The late Sonny Middleton came up with the concept of the Triple Crown and Scott helped develop and nurture it over the last seven-plus years.  "Sonny always thought the Triple Crown was a way to bring all the teams together," Captain Jason explained. "Sonny was the godfather of sportfishing in the Gulf. I hope we're making him proud by claiming our third championship."  The Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship consists of five sanctioned events in the central Gulf of Mexico. The affiliated tournaments include the Orange Beach Billfish Classic, Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic, Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic, Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic and the Blue Marlin Grand Championship.  The Triple Crown is scored on a hybrid system that includes both weight and release points for the top three finishes in the blue marlin divisions only. Bonus points are also accrued for series participation, weighed marlin lengths and tournament marlin records.

Viking at Blue Marlin Grand Championship

Friday the 13th was a lucky one for Captain Marco Gaona at the helm of the Viking 64 Enclosed Bridge Shockwave during the 7th Annual Blue Marlin Grand Championship. Brien Blakeney's boat bested a fleet of 74 battlewagons to take Grand Champion. Brien's son Austin battled a big blue for almost five hours to weigh a 795.6-pounder. The fish took the early lead and eventual top honors at the event.  Perennial contender Done Deal, Jon Gonsoulin's Viking 70, brought a 640.8-pound blue marlin to the scales. Katie Gonsoulin spent eight hours in the fighting chair in order to whip the 117" billfish.  Katie also released two blue marlin and a white to take Top Lady Angler and Done Deal claimed 1st Place Release Team. Matt McDonald's, Breathe Easy, with Captain Patrick Ivie on the throttles, weighed a 598.2-pound blue guaranteeing angler Rick Olsen (above) and the team 3rd in the signature category. The Viking 56 Team Galati rounded out the Grand Champion category in 4th place with four blue marlin releases. Team Galati took 2nd Place Release Team as well. Top Junior Angler went to Kevin Courville for his blue marlin release on the Viking 92 A Work of Art. Lisa Krake released a blue on the Viking 76 Team Supreme, which was good for 2nd Place Lady Angler. Viking Bermuda Billfish Blast

A fleet of 38 teams put on a fish-catching clinic at the 2018 Bermuda Billfish Blast. Three days of red-hot fishing produced a record 91 blue marlin releases during the event, with most blues ranging in the 200- to 400-pound class. After lines out on day three, Joe Rahman's Viking 80 Auspicious totaled six blue and two white marlin releases across three days of fishing to surpass the field and win the tournament. Joe also took Top Angler with all eight releases. Michael Farren's Viking 62 Just A Dog led Chase Farrens to five blue marlin releases to take 2nd Place Team and 2nd Place Angler.

Viking at Pensacola Tournament

Snotty weather didn't deter the 74-boat fleet fishing the 47th Annual Pensacola International Billfish Tournament. The bite started off slow but there were plenty of releases and some big fish moved the scales at the weigh station. Captain Patrick Ivie at the helm of Matt McDonald's Viking 68 Breathe Easy (above) claimed 2nd Place Overall Boat. The team released two blue marlin and weighed a dolphin and wahoo. The blues were released by Katie Hurst and Rachel Ivie which earned them 2nd and 3rd Top Lady Angler, respectively. Madison Ivie weighed the dolphin which won that category with a 100.8-pound fish. Fresh off a victory at the recent Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic, Born2Run(above) was again in the winner's circle. Dana and Lisa Foster's Viking 72 won the swordfish category with angler Doug Franklin hauling in a 210.8-pound whopper. Lisa Foster was the Top Lady Angler with a blue marlin release and a pair of yellowfins weighing in at 178 and 94.2 pounds.

Project: Palm Beach GT50 Express

While developing its next model, Palm Beach identified a void in the refined high-performance marketplace and the new GT50 project was started. The design philosophy was to create a visually elegant traditional yacht which is still inspired to Down East lobster lines and capable of 40-plus knots, with an economic cruise speed in the mid thirty knots range, and a yacht that was simple to operate and easy to own. The first Palm Beach GT50 Express is scheduled to make its debut in September at the Newport International Boat Show. Initial sea trials hit the company’s precise target top-speed projection of 42 knots and a cruising speed of 35 knots with a pair 600hp and Volvo IPS 800 forward looking pod drives. Moreover, at 35 knots cruise the fuel consumption will be about 150 liters per hour, with 25 knots projections for only 90 liters per hour. These impressive figures make the Palm Beach GT50 a very efficient yacht. The GT Series incorporates Palm Beach’s unique hull design that results in less resistance to achieve plane while keeping the bow in the water. A hyper-focus on lightweight, strong construction helps to ensure the GT50’s efficiency. The hull is a fully infused vinylester cored e-glass construction that is complemented by a fully infused, 100% carbon fiber deck and superstructure. The deck and bulkheads are structurally bonded to the hull for increased strength and rigidity, forming a semi-monococque shell that produces a far stronger result. Palm Beach gave significant attention to the GT50’s outdoor spaces in order to comfortably accommodate large groups of guests while underway. Two L-shaped settees in the cockpit flank a transom door to the large teak swim platform. The helm deck is ideally suited for al-fresco dining or lounging while underway, with an L-shaped settee and a straight settee. The Palm Beach GT50 Express will feature a large opening sunroof and the customary side and aft opening windows provide an open-air atmosphere for an incredible on-the-water experience. An additional refrigerator and an ice-maker in the cockpit complement the full-service galley below. Twin helm seats serve the carbon fiber helm station, and the single-piece windscreen creates an unobstructed line of sight that is more like a high-performance car than a yacht. Side decks are designed to seamlessly join the cockpit to allow for easy access forward.  Below, the attention to detail continues with contemporary finishes blended into a timeless elegance. Timber options include wenge, teak or ash. Broad selections of designer double-stitched fabrics are wrapped around a spacious forward master stateroom, huge head with shower, large galley and a queen-sized berth aft. Engine access is below the cockpit.  After the Newport debut, the GT50 will attend the Norwalk, Annapolis and Fort. Lauderdale boat shows. The GT50 will not be a solo model but a full range for Palm Beach with the down under boat builder working on a GT60 with performance projections up to fifty knots and set to debut in September of 2019, and also a GT70.

New Model: Azimut S6

During Azimut most expected event of the year the Yachting Gala, which for 2018 was held in the suggestive location of Monopoli in the South Italy region of Puglia, the famous yacht builder presented its new latest model the S6.  The Azimut S6 is based on the 55S, see identical beam but a longer hull by seventy centimeters, which allows for bigger triple Volvo 550hp engines versus the 435hp units of the 55, and a more spacious aft deck.  The Azimut 55S introduced in 2012 was the fore bearer of the second generation S series and one of the best sellers of the Italian boat builder in the last five years, with an impressive demand also in brokerage.  The S6 is recognizable thanks to a different window design featuring latest elements as introduced by Stefano Righini and the Italian boat builder newer models.  So far complete specifications and layout are not to be found so we cannot say if there is more difference then the details mentioned.  At this stage it seems that the Azimut S6 and the 55S will co-exist, which is understandable considering the success the later has enjoyed.

The Ferretti Group and Custom Line Superyacht Yard in Ancona celebrates the launch of  the brand new 42 Navetta.  A super yacht just over 300 Gross Tonnage in size, the Ferretti Custom Line 42 Navetta is the result of a design process that has kept the Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari, the Group Engineering Department and Studio Zuccon International Project busy for more than two years.  The 42 Navetta projects a vision of the sea expressed by design in motion, sophisticated elegance and extraordinary performance.  Both the interiors and exteriors of the new Navetta 42 can be extensively customized, so that each owner can create their own dream boat. The layout optimizes the way the generous spaces are used, adopting an innovative and attentive approach to the organisation of the interiors and particularly the outdoor settings, which exploit the four decks to the full to offer the utmost privacy and comfort at sea. A huge suite on the main deck is reserved for the owner, while the layout on the lower deck features four VIP suites. The captain has a spacious living area forward on the upper deck, with a private cabin and direct access to the main helm station.  All the interiors of the first Navetta 42 unit have been customized according to both the owner’s desires and the perfectly tailor-made style embodied by Custom Line, which is expressed at its very highest bespoke level in the Navetta line.  Navetta 42 confirms once again that the launch of a Custom Line unit is a magical moment, one that in this particular case follows closely on the heels of the fifth Navetta 37 unit and the fourth Navetta 33. Three more Navetta 42 units are already under construction.  The backdrop for all these recent success stories is the Superyacht Yard in Ancona, the Ferretti Group shipyard that is now rightfully held up as a centre of European excellence.  Ferretti Customline 42 Navetta will be given its official debut in September at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Project: Ocea Nemo 50 Ice

Conceived with discerning owners in mind, the Nemo 50 Ice super yacht is a new, ambitious project that the French Shipyard is developing in conjunction with its partners Aldo Manna, the head of the Ocea Mediterranean Office that it opened just a few months ago in Italy, and designer Fulvio de Simoni. As a matter of fact, the Nemo 50 ICE is intended for people who have a dream and are unwilling to compromise on what they want, as sailing around the North or South poles, with a 50 meter super yacht with a gross tonnage of 499 GT. The Nemo 50 Ice is to be built in compliance with the requirements of the Ice Class rules and will feature an extreme, technical design as designer Fulvio de Simoni wanted to emphasize the very DNA of the French brand. The concept, design and construction criteria of this vessel exquisitely mirror the spirit of the Ocea Shipyard, whose core business is the design and construction of military ships. The Ocea Nemo 50 Ice has been conceived to brave the seas at high altitudes while searching for unique landscapes or lifetime adventures. An ideal yacht to explore places of pure magic, such as the Drake Channel, or the Cuverville Island with its dark rocky mountains, or the astonishing Danco Island, just to name a few. Every detail has been carefully designed to ensure that guests will enjoy a comfortable stay for very long periods of time and to optimize navigation also under extreme conditions. By way of example, tenders, rigid-hulled inflatable boats or landing crafts can be launched and recovered by using dedicated handling equipment: as a matter of fact, the Nemo 50 Ice davits are exactly the same as those installed on the brand’s military ships to handle landing crafts in full safety.  This concept features an important design solution, a technical area located forward on the “raised deck”, also intended to accommodate the hiking equipment: the planking level in this area, which communicates directly with the main saloon, is less than one meter above waterline to ensure that guests can access the tenders quickly and safely. Also, a preferred open-air area for guests who can enjoy it while being sheltered from bad weather.  The engine room is a spacious, well ventilated area with every component, apparatus and equipment can be easily accessed for emergency repair by the technical staff. A six sq.mt fully-equipped workshop and a control room fitted with all the remote-control systems needed to operate the vessel’s key systems also in “manual mode”, are available. Both the workshop and the control room are directly connected to the crew accommodations through a central passageway in the lower deck, in order not only to maximize the crew’s efficiency and convenience but also to enhance the guests’ comfort and privacy.  The shafts of the Nemo 50 Ice are integrated into dedicated structural skegs, which will protect them, along with the propellers and the two rudders, should the hull hit an iceberg or partially submerged objects, this type of construction being a typical feature of all the yachts Ocea has built so far.  The guests’ accommodation area has been designed in order to maximize guests comfort during long stays on board: the owner’s apartment is a full-width design covering the fore portion of the main deck houses a private lounge which can be used either as a relaxation corner or as a study area, should one need working aboard. There is a sizable bathroom where even a large sauna can be incorporated, if needed.  The living spaces are also very spacious and thought to maximize comfort during long stays, as evidenced by the large open-space on main deck amidships.  When travelling to far-off or unexplored lands, the crew plays a crucial role. That’s why they have large, efficient and comfortable spaces. As any crew sailing across the oceans is made up of expert people highly qualified technical personnel or explorers, their accommodations need to be designed and arranged with their duties in mind.

New Model: Absolute 48 Navetta

During the 2018 dealer meeting Absolute unveiled the 48 Navetta, new entry level and fourth model to the modern explorer yacht range as visioned by the Italian boat builder which has brought so much success to the firm since introduced in 2014 with the 58.  The Absolute 48 Navetta for a modern explorer cruiser just under the fifteen meter mark offers interesting spaces both outside, see spacious flybridge, and inside.  The interior impresses a lot especially the three cabin guest area of the lower deck with the side looking double berth design of the forward stateroom impressing for its space, which really seems to give nothing less to that of a midships design.  This idea is not new, I remember Fairline and Uniesse using a similar concept in a slightly bigger boat, and I always do think that in between the thirteen and fifteen meter sizes this should be used a bit more instead of going for the simple eqauation of a high freeboard in order to fit a midships cabin.  But the Absolute 48 Navetta lower deck extra space does not stop and thanks to an important beam its port side midships located VIP cabin is also another spacious offer.  Completing the lower deck in the Absolute 48 Navetta is also an aft crew cabin.   The 48 Navetta main deck offers the embraced by Absolute aft galley design and an area which connects with the aft deck.  As all Absolute since quite a few years the 48 Navetta is IPS propulsion-ed and is powered by twin Volvo 435hp engines.  Worth to note is the important fuel tank capacity of 1800 liters which at optimum cruise should give an interesting range.

New Model: Tiara 49 Coupe

Tiara Yachts takes the Coupe series to the new with the introduction of the 49 model. Tiara first Coupe the 50 introduced in September 2015 defined a new evolution in design, which later was reflected with the introduction of the 39, 44 and 53 models all in the spirit of timeless classic down east lobster boat inspired design, and backed by Volvo’s easy to operate IPS pod drive system.  The 49 Coupe builds on the successful momentum of the range and elevates that experience with the introduction of expanded interior space throughout. New Coupe buyers will feel the openness immediately in the single level salon followed by the lower cabins and spacious master. A port side aft facing seat and high gloss adjustable teak table add to the ambiance of the open air cockpit.  The hallmark outdoor/in living spaces of the first Coupe model is prominent in the new 49 with entry into the salon via a cockpit sliding door framed by windows on either side. Large quartz counter-tops complete the galley space. Step up to salon seating and helm area with its port side U-lounge, convertible to a berth, and starboard love seat. The dual companion helm seat is fully adjustable.  Volvo Joystick controls are fully integrated with Garmin electronics and remote. The fully integrated fiberglass hardtop frames large tempered safety glass panes port, starboard and forward providing an unimpeded platform to safely and enjoyably operate the 49.  One of the real joys of the Coupe series is the visual access from virtually any point in the salon and cockpit to what really matters when yachting, enjoying the water all around you!  The lower master and VIP suites are accessed through a center stairway. The master features a private head and center-line queen pedestal berth with innerspring mattress.  Audio visual, storage and hull-side windows make the master a great retreat any time of the day. The atrium features a port side lounge that may also be used as a berth.  The mechanical space and engine room are accessed through the large cockpit floor hatch. Chris-Craft one of the most famous and long standing pleasure boat builders presents its new virtual World wide web showroom.  Chris-Craft started its operations in Michigan 1874 when Christopher Columbus Smith built his first boat at the age of thirteen.  Christopher Smith built boats referred to as Skiffs or Punts, and with growing success Chris joins force with his brother Hank in 1881 to go on full time in this job.  In 1910 the Smith Ryan Boat Company is started which focuses in building economic runabouts, in 1922 this becomes the Chris Smith and Sons, and 1927 is reorganized as Chris-Craft and known at that day as the biggest World wide boat builder.  1939 marks the death of founder Chris Smith.  In 1941 Chris-Craft builds patrol boats, utility launches, and rescue vessel for the United States Army and Navy to use in World War Two.  The war is over and in 1950 Chris-Craft goes back to pleasure boat building offering an impressive catalogue of 139 models.  Five years later to this Chris-Craft builds the first fiberglass boat.  1971 marks the end of the mahogany Chris-Craft era with the last delivery being a 57 Constellation model.  Seventeen years after this a succession of different owners marks the history of Chris-Craft, starting in 1988 sold to George Dale Murray, and a year later to OMC Corporation.  In 2000 OMC files for Bankruptcy and shuts down operation, which leads to 2001 when Stellican Ltd resume boat building, and a new line up of models.  In 2018 Chris Craft was sold to Winnebago Industries.  Today Chris-Craft builds seventeen models in seven different series; Capri, Carina, Corsair, Launch, Calypso, Catalina and Commander from 21 to 44 feet.  The entry level Chris-Craft is the 21 Capri, and the flagship is the Italian build 44 Commander.  Chris-Craft new web-site takes you around with the following buttons; Models, Build Yours, Request, News and Events, Our Story, Dealers, Pre-owned, Store, and Contact Us .  Chris-Craft is also present on the social network hubs on Facebook, Instagram, Tweeter, Linkedin, and Youtube with links for these pages featured at the bottom of the page.

New Model: Canados 88 Evolution

Canados has launched the new 88 Evolution, what is a direct evolution and replacement of the successful 86 model of which 46 have been delivered.  Showing the success of the 86 came also from one loyal Canados client who had four 86’s built over the course of thirteen years production.  The new 88 Evolution like the previous model will be a semi-custom made to order build. The Canados 88 Evolution is based on the 86 model platform, which over the years has received so much praise for its incredible sea keeping ability.  The 88 Evolution had a lot of extra work done on project analysis to have a low center of gravity as possible even with new standard to have amenities as the flybridge hard-top. The Canados 88 Evolution comes with a reversed deck saloon overlooking the water and gigantic saloon floor to ceiling windows.  The main deck layout remains an example of practicality with its oversize saloon with direct sea view, thanks to the cut down bulwarks, dining room, Boffi galley, day head and crew dinette in the wheelhouse. The lower deck still offers its reputed four cabin layout with a VIP to the bow, two twin guests cabins to the sides, and the full beam owner’s suite in the center. Like most if not all Canados build over the years since 1946 the 88 Evolution is a semi custom construction with every build being tailor made to fit owners requests.  The Canados 88 Evolution is powered by twin Cat engines 1800hp which give a top speed of 32 knots and a cruise of 28 knots.

Project: Azimut Grande 25 Metri

Set to launch in September 2018 at the Cannes boat show Azimut presents the project of the Grande 25 Metri, new entry level of the big super yacht range of the famous Italian motor boats builder, which with this model starts today at 25 meters in length.  The Azimut Grande 25 Metri should also be a replacement for the 80 which was launched in Summer 2013.  Designed by the usual since early nineties Azimut designer Stefano Righini, the Grande 25 Metri presents itself as a streamlined super yacht that seems sculpted in wind, with ample space for life in the open air, to keep the connection with the sea alive. As most of the latest Azimut models the 25 Metri is to be built what the Italian builder calls Carbon Tech, meaning for a super structure, roll bar, hard-top and transom build of the light and strong carbon fiber technology.  The Grande 25 Metri is created for owners who likes a sporty looking flybrdge super yacht, something which is definitely not new from Azimut with models as the 68 Plus and 98 Leonard clearly being the first inspiration for the Italian builder and Righini in the end nineties and early parts of the new second millennium for this design direction. The interior design of the Grande 25 Metri is by Achille Salvagni who presents an unprecedented mix of the elegant and the casual, large volumes, a garage for the tender and a totally separate crew circuit to offer the owner maximum privacy, without affecting the boat’s contours, which seem light, sleek and almost sensual. Another surprising aspect in the interior design, which gives an original twist to the living area: with the typical separation of sofa and dining areas making way for one big refined setting, decorated with great care and personality. So, when no one is dining inside, there’s much more space to enjoy in two comfy living areas. If needed, the table in front of the sofa can be raised to become a spacious dining table for eight. Still the Grande 25 Metri shows flexibility and for those who prefer their spaces laid out in a more traditional way another version based on the classical approach is also available. Achille Salvagni also accents the desire for informality by introducing lacquered surfaces in colors ranging from purple to sugar paper, skillfully weighed to establish new tenets of class and refinement, in a continuously developing style that never opts for the obvious.  The galley and helm station can be separated from the other settings by sliding doors and switchable frosted glass panels, allowing the crew to get on with their business without interfering with the lives of the owner and guests.  The four cabins are in the lower Deck and three of them have double beds, while the crew has a cabin for the captain, a second cabin with bunk beds, and a crew mess that can be accessed from a stairway aft of the superstructure.  The Azimut Grande 25 Metri is powered by a twin standard Man engines of 1650hp and or optional 1800hp units.
