Two motor yachts of about nineteen meters in length were destroyed by fire at Turtle Point Marina, Killen, Alabama on Sunday fourth August. Fire fighters where alerted of a yacht fire at 07:00 morning time, involving one yacht. As Killen Fire and Rescue arrived in the scene, they found two burning yachts moving to other yachts, with the first action being to remove the main yacht on fire to prevent other boats from being exposed to the flames. Several people on nearby vessels were safely evacuated by first responders. Officials said the secondary yacht on fire was controlled quickly, while the primary yacht was placed on a secondary pier, with floating booms around it to contain hazardous runoff. Killen Fire and Rescue was helped by eleven other fire fighting agencies. An investigation on the cause of the fire is under investigation.
One of the yachts in this fire is a Hampton Yachts 650 as designed by Howard Apollonio and debuting in 2016 and still in production today.
