Classic Italian Flybridge Boat Sinks Near Palau Sardinia

A classic Italian flybridge motor boat of nine meters in length with twelve persons onboard, including of which four children, sank as it was cruising in the area of Spiaggia Vecchia di Palau, near Costa Smeralda, to the North East of Sardinia on the afternoon of Sunday eleventh August.  The boaters were saved by a nearby boat, with the Guardia Costiera coming later to the scene with the two m/v 870 and Alfa 70 vessels.  The flybridge boat was reported to have sunk after hitting a reef in the area.  The semi-sank boat is being monitored for any pollution it might cause from fuel and oils, with a recovery operation being planned.
The classic Italian motor boat in this sinking is a Della Pasqua e Carnevali DC9, second version from the eighties.  In construction since 1972, near to five hundred DC9 have been build in four versions, with a 9 S coming in the mid nineties, and 9 SL in the mid noughties.  Competitively priced Della Pasqua are appreciated by for their strong construction and seakeeping qualities of an original Hunt deep-V hull.
