Formentera August Storm Grounds Boats in La Savina

A DANA which is not a storm name but a Spanish acronym for isolated depression at high altitude, hit the Balearic islands, with its stronger epicenter forming on Formentera, South to Ibiza at 10:20 hours on the morning of Wednesday fourteen August.  The storm which was stronger then forecasted had an average wind speed of fifty knots, with gusts touching one hundred knots of wind.  La Savina which was the most interested area boating wise, tossed and grounded a dozen boats around, with some boaters needing an emergency rescue to escape from the wreckage.
The most high profile grounding in this storm was the 2007 build Wally 100 s/y Wally Love which was also heavily listed to its starboard.  Of the motor boats aground videos showed a nineties build Sealine 310 Ambassador, and a late eighties Sunseeker 43 Thunderhawk.  While other videos showed an Azimut 43S, Benetti 35M Classic, Cranchi 41 Endurance , and a Zaniboni 38 Escalibur escaping from the storm.
