A 21 meter Canados motor yacht was saved from sinking as it was near Panarea Island on the late afternoon early evening of Saturday seventeen August. The Canados yacht was transporting eleven passengers when it started to take on water. A nearby commercial vessel intervened, saving the passengers from the yacht first, as the Guardia Costiera CP 322 came on the scene, bringing also a mechanic onboard the Canados yacht. Ultimately the yacht was partly beached for safely in Spiagga San Pietro. Some unconfirmed reports said the yacht had a water intrusion from a seacock failure.
The yacht in this near sinking is a Canados 70S as produced from 1988 to 93 to a design of Spadolini. The 70S was the second model in Canados fiberglass era which started with the 58 in 1987. The Canados 70S was a replacement to the wood build 70, and was replaced by the 23 in 1995.
