Sarnico present the project for a 46 Spider GTS model. This project will launch in the fall of this year with hull one being sold to a US client and follows the 40 Spider launched in 2006. As the smaller model, the 46 Spider GTS will offer clean aggressive looks with comfort and is designed by two of the most respected naval firms being Nuvolari and Lenard for the lines, and Victory Acampora for the hull underwater shapes. This duo of designers is a symbol of the Sarnico boat building company the first being used since 1994 first on the still in production 45, and the second for the latest models since 2006. The 46 Spider GTS will distinct itself for larger spaces in all areas. The 46 Spider GTS will also offer a movable hardtop which covers a big part of the living exterior main deck. Here is also space for a galley. Down below the space is for two double cabins, saloon and galley. The owners room is to fore, and a three berths guest cabin is located to midships. Power for the Sarnico 46 Spider GTS will be from Cummins engines starting at 480 up to 700hp. As the 2010 launched Grande flagship, the 46 Spider GTS will feature the innovative Flexidrive surface drives propulsion.

Improve-it = Cigarette 50 Marauder
In the first half of 2011 Cigarette showed an improved version for its 50 Marauder flagship model. The first boat showing this modification was a Poker Run Edition named Lipschutz. This boat featured a new deck design which enhance more the aesthetics and style of the current Cigarette flagship. With this Cigarette shows again how it is always tweaking and elaborating its boats improving them by time. The 50 Marauder 'Lipshutz' also was the first Cigarette to be power by twin Mercury racing gas petrol SVC4v engines which deliver 1350hp each.
New Model: Rio 34 Espera
Rio Yachts celebrating its fifty years launch the 34 Espera model, which was only shown as a project a couple of weeks ago. The 34 Espera represents not only Rio's own gift to itself but also a new range for the Italian boat builder which is a tribute to the first wooden craft it build in its early days. The 34 Espera as said in project review is Rio's vision of an open walk around boat with cabin features. Of all the models so far presented by other builders the 34 Espera is the more aggressive looking. Open spaces, center console, and four berth interior are all part of the 34 Espera functions. Inside the interior also offers a two plus two interior; separate cabin to midships, convertible Vee shaped settee to fore, and a shower head. The galley is located outside behind the center console. Convenient side decks lead to fore peak raised deck. But transformations and hidden tables, passarelle are all part of the exterior functions of the new Rio. Other options for the 34 Espera will be a center light material hard top, and an outboard version with twin Mercury 300hp engines called the Espera TA. Power of the normal 34 Espera is optional twin Volkswagen 265hp diesel or standard Mercury 305hp petrol gas choice.

Project: Abati 60 Keyport
Abati presents a project for its second large model with this new 60 Keyport. This new project follows the launch of the new Abati flagship 64 Freeport Fly as launched in the fall of 2010. The 60 Keyport shows a nice design which follows a good balance of modern traditional as is one of the best looking models from the line the small 46. The 60 Keyport is a hardtop traditional yacht with a lot of modern thinking going into the looks and function which blend well with the the lobster down East influenced lines. A three cabin lower deck plan is to be found having an owners suite to fore. A crew cabin or utility room is to be located at midships. Power is from twin 800hp MAN which should give a nice top speed of 32 knots max and 26 of cruise.

New Model: Mano 37 Gran Sport
Mano presents the 37 Gran Sport an innovative new model which follows what has been coming from Italy in recent times by various builders. Walk around functionality on top with cabin boat accommodation below. Of all the offers so far presented the Mano 37 Gran Sport offers the most cabin area having an interior which is just a little bit smaller to what a European cabin boat of this size usually offers. This comes only to the expense of a great exterior area which uses all the length of the 37 Gran Sport. Well done to Mano and designers Cabes Yachts. The outside of the 37 Gran Sport welcomes you aft with two C-shaped settees which can transform in various different forms from two dinettes, a single large dining area, or two sunpads. To fore of this is also a nice second very large exterior galley, located behind the center console three person helm station. The fore peak of the 37 Gran Sport is all dedicated to a large sun lounger easily reachable by the steps. Down below is space for a separate cabin which is the owners to fore and guest double berth located to midships. A medium sized galley and a small sofa with table complete the lower deck cabin area. Project: Horizon PC58
Horizon from Taiwan seems to be one of the few builders who is putting a lot of projects and models with catamaran, i.e. dual hull shape. The PC58 project is indeed the fourth power catamaran coming from Horizon of which two are innovative solar powered models. Currently under construction with the Scrimp infusion method and set to launch by the fall the PC58 is a design by Winchester from Florida for lines and interior, and Lavranos from New Zealand to what concerns the under water shape. So far Horizon has not given any details but the flybridge and aft deck do look large in the renderings for a boat measuring seventeen meters in length. Power is to be from twin 600hp Cummins to what is an asymmetrical displacement shape.

Improve-it = Maritimo 440 Offshore Convertible
Maritimo presents a new engine propulsion choice to its 440 Offshore Convertible now offer with the choices of traditional shaft drive propulsion. The Maritimo 440 Offshore Convertible was launched last year 2010, breaking new ground for a 44 feet flybridge sportfish cruiser thanks to its three-sided enclosed flybridge and internal staircase and an aft galley with bi-fold doors to the cockpit. The 440 Offshore Convertible was also the first flybridge boat from Maritimo to utilise the Volvo Penta IPS pod drive system. Now the company has introduced more choices to its customers offering the option of shaft drive propulsion, who can select between Volvo Penta IPS600 forward looking dual propellers pod drive with 435hp turbo diesel engines, or Cummins QSB 5.9 480hp with shafts. In both choices everything remains the same above the waterline of the 440 Offshore Convertible from the three separate cabins sleeping five to the storage space. In both engines the Maritimo 440 Offshore Convertible can cruise close to 350 nautical miles at around 22 knots and well over 1,000 nm at trolling speed.
New Model: Cutwater 26
What an innovative project is this, thanks to big boat thinking in a small package. Cutwater 26 comes from the Fluid Motion LLC Group who already produce the Ranger Tugs line, and here with this new brand challenge the market thanks to a clever design above but also below the water line featuring an unedited hull shape which should offer good economy and sea handling. The comfort of the Cutwater 26 is impressive for its size, as is that of its standard equipment and price offering. This boat is also trailer able thanks to its beam that is for the US limit of eight feet and a half. Accommodation also is impressive and extremely comfortable offering a total of six berths. Double convertible Vee shape bed below to fore, midships twin, and a convertible settee on the main deck. The hull of the Cutwater 26 is an innovative stepped with keel semi displacement shape. Power is from a single diesel Yanmar 180hp engine which delivers new meaning to term economic.

Class 1 - Norway Grand Prix 2011 Race 2
Heavy rains, strong winds and rough seas have forced the hands of race officials into canceling race 2 of the BMW Norwegian Grand Prix. “It is very disappointing for everyone involved but our absolute priority is the safety of competitors and everyone who is out on the water,” said UIM race director, Gordon Sutherland. “We had hoped the weather would lift but unfortunately it hasn’t.
“Course officials have been out in the safety boat twice during the afternoon to check the conditions and reported four meter seas and very strong gusting winds. It was clear that rescue boats would not be able to operate or in a position to respond to any incidents, leaving us no option but to cancel.”

Nordhavn New Web Site
Nordhavn famous for its line of explorer yachts and cruisers presents its new web site. Nordhavn was actually founded in 1988, with its first model the 46 launching in 1989. But the company history started in 1973 when Jim Leishman and Dan Streech meet in a brokerage firm and start building the foundations for what in time will become first the Pacific Asian Enterprises up to what will be the North Harbor what is English translation of Nordhavn. Interesting stories come to the launch of the first Nordhavn 46 is that Cruising World magazine declined its advertisements, and builder Ta Shiing from Taiwan decline to build it. In fact it will be Tsai Wan Sheu in Taiwan who will build it. For the second Nordhavn model the 62 the American Asian company will have to wait two years launched in the dark period of boating known as the American 10% Luxury Tax. A 50 in 1995, and a 56MS a year later where the next Nordhavn models to come after the luxury tax was ended. 2007 marked an important year for Nordhavn with the company building its first super 24 meters plus yacht 86 model, and a year later to this opening its new building facility located in Xiamen China. So far 2008 was the best annual result for Nordhavn with eighty boats sold during the recession ended year. Nordhavn current line up offers seventeen models from the entry level 40 to the still in project 120 flagship. The line also offers two alternative models, the 56 MS, and 75 EYF. Class 1 - Norway Grand Prix 2011 Race 1
Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani celebrated his 50th race start and his first win in Class 1 alongside Steve Curtis with a superb flag-to-finish victory in race 1 of the BMW Norwegian Grand Prix.
Victory’s Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir Bin Hendi shrugged off the disadvantage of having to run an extra ‘penalty lap’ to finish in an impressive second place, with Ali Al Neama and Matteo Nicolini making it a double podium celebration for the Spirit of Qatar Team.
Today’s win finally ended Sheikh Hassan and Steve Curtis’ long wait for their first win together since teaming-up in 2008 and hinged on a spectacular start by the Spirit of Qatar pairing, who moved from third place on the start line to immediately challenge pole-sitters, Victory’s Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir Bin Hendi, for the lead at the first turn.
The run down the long straight saw the Victory and Qatar boats dicing side-by-side, with Sheikh Hassan and Steve Curtis holding their nerve to win the drag race and grab the advantage and go on to lead at the end of the first lap.
From the front they were able to control the race and go on to win the 8-lap, 52.45Nm race by over 8 seconds at an average speed of 186.61km/h.
Second place for the defending World Champions keeps them at the top of the points table, but sees their lead cut to five points.
Matteo Nicolini marked his 100th race start with his second podium in three races with newcomer Ali Al Neama, but was clearly unimpressed finishing in third place.
Guido Cappellini and Giampaolo Montavoci, also making his 100th start, produced an impressive showing in kim.com and enjoyed a race long duel with Team Abu Dhabi, passing the Emirati duo of Mansoori and Al Tayer on lap 3 and holding off their sustained challenge to finish fourth.
But Team Abu Dhabi’s fifth place was short lived following their post-race disqualification.
Welmax, Fendi Racing and ferskfisken.no enjoyed their own private battle in the lower order, swapping places throughout the race - Fendi Racing incurring a post race penalty lap dropping them to seventh, with Relekta having a frustrating outing, finishing eighth.

Projects: Benetti Sail Division 115 RS Mediterranean Style, Benetti Sail Division 122
Benetti Sail Division continues with the presentation of its new projects, which apart the round stern models features some innovative designs like the Logica, and World Traveler series. A fresh wind seems blowing in the company with sixteen new projects shown in the web site. The two last projects are what Benetti Sail Division calls the Special Edition and features two yachts the above Mediterranean Style 115 RS, and 122. The 115 RS Mediterranean Style is a redesign of the upper structure of the top second deck with his being also a bit larger. The standard plan for examples puts the owners state room on the top deck here having the plan of an apartment, with the VIP suite located on the main deck. Two other guest cabins are located to aft. The crew area with lobby saloon and galley is located to fore. To midships is also a tender garage with space for three water craft; a tender and two jet bikes. Power is from twin 1000hp MAN which should give a 13 knots max, and a 10 knots economic cruise giving 4800 nautical miles of range.
The Benetti Sail Division 122 project would have looked very revolutionary a few years ago in the line of the Viareggio, Italian boat builder but if you consider the new Logica and World Traveller lines today it looks a standard contemporary design. The 122 is a modern actual looking super yacht with three decks. A ten berths in five double cabins interior is offered with the owners stateroom located on the main deck. The VIP suite is located unusually to aft. Power is from twin 1319hp Cat engines which should give a top speed of 14 knots and a cruise of 13.

New Model: Custom Line 100
Ferretti Custom Line launched the new 100 model the past Spring, one of the most modern and revolutionary designs coming from the Italian builder in recent times. Designed as since twenty years any Ferretti who come with this name by Zuccon, the Custom Line 100 is very different to the smaller and bigger sister. Showing all this the Custom Line 97 which is very similar in size but more classic Ferretti in looks will be so far kept in production, and this as stated by the company brand manager. The main difference in the Ferretti Custom Line 100 is surely the wide body fore peak, but also the design of the coach roof and the shape of the large windows points towards revolution in looks which I think we will be seeing more in the newer planning series in future times. The plan of the Ferretti Custom Line 100 is for two and half deck with the helm located in a raised pilot house being the half deck which transits between the flybridge and lower living area. Down in the main deck which takes the living area from midships to aft with the seperate galley included, and to fore being dedicated to the owners stateroom. This being a spacious affair having a beauty study, dining breakfast table for two, walk in wardrobe, and spacious bathroom. Below is an area reserved for guests with four double cabins with two VIP suites located to midships. To fore peak is the crew quarters with three double cabins, three shower heads, and an L-shaped sofa for relaxation. The aft area has been left to be used as a beach with the crew cabins located back to fore calling a bit for a return to the past here. Power is from twin MTU latest 2639hp engines which should give a max speed of about 26 knots.

Project: Jeanneau NC9
Jeanneau presents the project for the NC9, second project in this new line which was launched in 2010 with NC11. The NC9 is again a job of designers Garroni, and Jeanneau architects. The NC9 is set to launch on the fall of this year shows, so expect to see her make its debut in Cannes, or by the latest in Genoa. The interior is really a similar boat to what the NC11 offers with everything being that little bit smaller. We have the same layout of living main deck, with galley located opposite of the C-shaped dinette. The patio door also opens to make this area join with the cockpit. The sunroof also has a choice from a standard size opening about 25% of the roof, to a larger double the size glassed version. Down below is space for two separate double cabins, and a shower head room. The owners room as is expected in a boat this size is located to fore. Power is to be from a single diesel stern drive engine from Volvo from 260 to 300hp.

New Model: Intermarine 75
Intermarine continues its new course and along with the 60, it presented at the Rio Boat show the 75 model. While similar on the exterior lines to the 60, this current flagship of Intermarine is a design of Luiz de Basto who for a 75 feet motor yacht presents again a sports low profile line. Something seen on the 60 but looking more impressive on the 75. Inside the accommodation plan will have four double guest suites, located in the traditional form of owners stateroom to midships, VIP suite to fore, two twin cabins in between. All the cabins have en-suite bathrooms. To aft below is a crew lobby which has two cabins with four berths, small galley and an L-shaped dinette. The main deck living area of the Intermarine 75 is about open spaces full of natural light thanks to the huge glass surfaces surrounding all the area. Two steps split level the main interior dividing entertainment located on entrance and lower, with the more working area having galley, dining table and helm to port side. To note in the helm are the two adjustable sports car seats for helmsman and co-pilot, and the single glass of the windshield which has no mullions at the center. This apart giving better visibility is also more aesthetically clean for the Intermarine 75, and is quite an engineering challenge to achieve. Just as the 60, the flybridge of the 75 is all reserved for entertainment with two sun pads to aft and fore, a dinette, wet bar and helm station to port side. Tender stowage is located to aft with high low bathing platform making for easy launching and recovery. Power is from twin MAN 1550hp engines. The optional choice should give a 34 knots top speed with 30 of cruise.
Technical Data:
LOA - 23.5 m (77.9ft)
Hull Length - 23.15 m

Project: Viking 66 Enclosed Bridge
Viking presents the project for the 66 Enclosed Bridge which is set to premier in 2012 in Florida. Like the open bridge Convertible version, the 66 Enclosed Bridge has a four staterooms and four private heads in its standard accommodation plan. The island galley, dinette, and salon also are similar, with the significant addition of a spiral staircase that leads to the enclosed bridge. The climate-controlled enclosed bridge is inviting and spacious with the main helm forward on center line for good visibility. The raised ultra-leather dash handles a bank of navigation and communication electronics, and overhead, an accessory panel is easily read and reached. An adjustable Stidd helm seat provides plenty of comfort and support on long jaunts, and a large companion seat to starboard features drawer stowage and good visibility for crew and guests. Abaft the companion seat, a row of teak joinery houses bottle and general stowage. A flat screen television is mounted above the built-in refrigerator. A raised lounge with a teak cocktail table on the port side creates the atmosphere of a second salon for added privacy and convenience. A weatherproof lockable door leads to the aft deck and the second helm station, a pod design that has single lever controls, a stainless-steel wheel and stop/start switches. Safety railing on the aft deck, as well as the exterior flying bridge access ladder is powder-coated aluminum.
Improve-it = Atlantis 44
Atlantis presents an important addition to its last new model the 44 launched the past October in Genoa now being the first boat to be powered with new Volvo D6 400hp engines. This engine option adds to about two knots in top speed versus the previous twin Volvo 370hp set up now reaching 36 knots of max. But apart this Atlantis also says the new twin 400hp engines also reduces RPM at cruising speeds which will mean lower consumption and better range. The Volvo D6 400hp engine is currently the most powerful diesel stern drive in the World and currently the Atlantis 44 is the only boat in existence offered with this option. Considering that the Azimut Benetti Group is not exclusive to Volvo engines this shows big thrust to the engineering, research and design department of the Italian builder. This to he honest is not the first to come to the Italian group with ZF also experimenting its large ZF4000 pods first on the Azimut 62S. Azimut Benetti Group of which Atlantis yachts makes part having been acquired as Gobbi in 2001 marks the entry level sport cruiser and yacht segment of the Italian company. The Atlantis 44 is the second project to come from the hands of Neo Design of Filippo Salvetti and Marco Biaggi, who in the near future should renew all the range which was previously designed by Stefano Righini for the larger models, and Michael Peters responsible for the smaller cruisers. The Atlantis 44 offers a two cabins lower deck with a full beam owners suite to midships. The main deck offers a very open area with aft sun pad, as Atlantis started showing up with the 54 introduced in 2008.

Class 1 - Norway Grand Prix 2011 Preview
Victory’s Arif Al Zafeen and Nadir bin Hendi will be the target and team to beat at this weekend’s BMW Norwegian Grand Prix (15-17 July) in Arendal, round 2 of the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.
The defending World Champions lead the points table after taking maximum points at the season-opener in Abu Dhabi, and will be intent on adding to their 23 career wins and maintaining the team’s enviable record in Arendal, where they have won eight times from 14 starts – winning both races last year.
Ten boats will line up for the 14th Grand Prix in Arendal since 1994, and the tens-of-thousands of partisan spectators who are expected to turn out for what is considered one of the great events and race circuits on the Class 1 tour, will be baying for a Norwegian win.
The fight for Norwegian supremacy and a win on home waters is between Welmax and Relekta; Jorn Tandberg and Christian Zaborowski won in Arendal in 2006, but nowadays line up in opposing teams, Tandberg winning again in 2008, the year he clinched the European title.
Tandberg partners Kolbjorn Selmer in the Mercury V8-powered Welmax, the all-Norwegian partnership enjoying considerable success since pairing in Arendal in 2009, taking ten podium finishes from 21 starts and six wins in pole position, five of them last year to win the Edox Pole Position Championship.
Team owner Tandberg has also confirmed they will run a second boat, ferskfisken.no - the Maritimo-designed and built hull that they ran as Welmax Alianza in Brazil last year - and will announce their driver pairing this week.
After a promising and then rather spectacular start to the year for Relekta’s Ugur Isik and Christian Zaborowski, posting fifth quickest in qualifying then crashing out in race 1, Zabo Racing has upped the stakes in its bid for silverware, buying the championship-winning hull, Fazza, from Victory Team.
The team has enjoyed a roller-coaster ride since its launch at the Norwegian Grand Prix last season, grabbing its first podium in Abu Dhabi last year and there is now an air of excitement within the team that they have the complete package to step up their title challenge.
Fendi Racing also fields a new boat whilst Austrian-based DAC Racing roll-out a cut-down version of their Tencara.
Luca Formilli Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella will unveil their new Outerlimits boat-engine package; their decision to run with the Outerlimits hull and twin 850 SC Outerlimits Powertrain engines sees the American high-performance boat manufacturer making its debut in the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship.
Fendi and Carpitella teamed-up in Class 1 last season and have taken two podium finishes in six starts, with Carpitella hoping they can at least repeat his three visits to the podium in Arendal last year.
DAC Racing’s Guido Cappellini is confident that the extreme modifications to his Tencara – cutting 120cm from the mid-section and reducing the overall weight by several hundred kilos – and upgrades to his Mercury engines, giving 50hp more per engine, will give him and throttleman, Giampaolo Montavoci, who starts his 100th race in Arendal, a real shot at competing at the front of the pack and challenging for race honours.
The team runs the restyled DAC 40 as kim.com for the first time in Arendal.
Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani and Steve Curtis will lead the Spirit of Qatar Team’s two-boat attack out onto the fjords, looking for the win that has so far eluded them in Class 1 since they joined forces in 2008.
And whilst they [Sheikh Hassan and Curtis] have enjoyed considerable success together, winning six times and lifting both national and world titles racing in America, they have had to settle for podium finishes - six - from their 12 starts in Class 1.
The team made an impressive return to the Championship earlier this year stepping onto the podium four times, Sheikh Hassan and Curtis grabbing two second places, with Matteo Nicolini aiming to keep the pressure on his teammates and build on his impressive performance with rookie driver Ali Al Neama, finishing third-quickest in qualifying and third in race 2 - both outfits running Victory-built hulls with SKEMA V12 engines.
And whilst Curtis is the only member of the team and one of only five of this seasons’ 22 competitors to have won in Arendal - in 2002 with Bjorn Gjelsten - both Sheikh Hassan and Nicolini - albeit now in opposing boats - will be hoping for a repeat of previous successes on Norwegian fjords in Arendal this week, the pair winning in Oslo in 2004 and in Trondheim in 2005, the year they won the European Championship.
Team Abu Dhabi has announced a change in their line-up, bringing in Emirati Majed Al Monsoori to partner wheelman, Rashed Al Tayer. Both are experienced racers; Al Tayer already a triple race-winner in Class 1 in just his second season, whilst Monsoori has come up through the ranks from Jet Ski competition and single-seater circuit racing. The duo also competes together in the XCat series and may well be a force to be reckoned with.
Chris Parsonage Racing retains the same driver-pairing with Giorgio Manuzzi alongside Norwegian throttleman Pal Virik Nilsen. The former teammates at Maritimo Offshore have both enjoyed podium success in Arendal, Manuzzi getting second and third last year and a third, behind Nilsen, in 2009.
The Grand Prix weekend gets underway with first practice on Friday afternoon. A second practice on Saturday afternoon is immediately followed by qualifying in the Edox Pole Position and race 1, with a final practice session and race 2 on Sunday.

Project: Aquastar 60 Classic Star
Aquastar presents a new project called 60 Classic Star with traditional yacht looks coming from the pilot boats. The Aquastar 60 Classic Star will offer a fully customisable layout, although they still show no pictures of the plans and wether below it will be a twin or three cabins choice. Surely the 60 Classic Stat will have a choice of a Day Saloon, or Aft Cockpit available for the main deck. I think this will mean whether you opt to go with a patio door or a fully open aft main deck. Aquastar says the hull of the 60 is fully derived from working pilot boats, with a tweak for added performance and a dry ride. Diverse propulsion choices are also part of the 60 Classic Star from twin jet drives with minimum draft, to triple IPS pods choices, or traditional line shafts. In any case with the largest and most efficient option Aquastar says a top speed of 38 knots is to be expected.
New Model: Island Pilot 535
Launched during the Miami Show the Island Pilot 535 represents the second yacht in this builder range, and joins the 435 model. Designed by George Petrie and Reuben Trane the 535 continues Island Pilot unusual styling which makes away of current trends and just as the smaller 435 is powered by IPS pods with a very efficient hull shape. As the web site of the builder says Island Pilot is all about a new approach to a cruising yacht or cruiser. Other interesting features are also the Seakeeper gyro stabilizers which is supplied as standard, which according to Island Pilot is the only maker to do this. Down below the Island Pilot is a project of two large staterooms yacht; owner room to midships, and VIP guest to fore. But for this you also have two living areas below with C-shaped dinette opposite the galley and on the main deck. There is also a third day head located on the lower deck. Power is from twin Volvo 700hp engines which give a top speed of 30 knots.

Project: Riviera 4400 Sport Yacht Series II
Riviera will launch at the soon to come Sydney boat show the Series II of the 4400 Sport Yacht model, which will feature a redesign of the exterior with some important visible changes to this successful model which presented in 2007 has sold since then over seventy units. Considering the World economy was in a recession this was a super result by Riviera for this model. The Series II main difference will be the feature of large side windows on the hull from fore to midships, and redesign of the hardtop also with larger glassed surfaces and now looking more aggressive and extended. The coach roof of the 4400 Sport Yacht Series II looks a bit similar to that of the 5800 but maintains the traditional feel of the original design. Other changes will be better headroom in the midships cabin, larger dash which take bigger electronics displays, and a seat located aft by the bathing platform. A feature which has been much appreciated in the 5800 Sport Yacht. The 4400 Sport Yacht Series II standard power will be for twin IPS600 with 435hp Volvo engines. But the new Series II will also offer the choice of twin Cummins 480hp with ZF Zeus aft looking pod drives.

Hinckley New Web Site
Hinckley presents its new web site. Founded in 1928 by the family Hinckley, the company while being mostly appreciated for its classic lined yachts was also among the first in building fiberglass boats, putting a rolling furling main sail, and hot and cold water system on a sailboat in 1948. Hinckley is also a pioneer and today its boats are built what is patented and called the Dual Core system, which is fiberglass composite building technique with Kevlar on the outer skin, and Carbon fiber used in the inside shell. In 1994 apart signalling a return to power boat building Hinckley was again an innovator when it launched it's down East look jet powered range designed by Bruce King who redefined the Down East lobster boats, with its jet drive propulsion and the patented JetStick. Currently located at the Southwest Harbor, Maine USA, today Hinckley offers two range of boats the power Jetboats, and Sailboats which offer a total of eighteen models. The small entry level model is the T29C in the Jetboats range, and the largest Hinckley is the 70 Sou'wester of the Sailboats range. Recent upcoming models in the power range is the T48 Mk.II MY and FB models. Project: DSME 43m
Daewoo Shipyard and Marine Engineering i.e. DSME presents the second project for its new super yacht line with this 43M boat. The new project is the second so far presented of a design set, developed for DSME, by Italian designers and architects Andrea Borzelli and Francesco Rogantin. Th other model which we showed you a couple weeks back is the 24M. The 43M is characterized by a dynamic style that plays with square angles and continuous glass surfaces which create a dialogue between interior and exterior. Designed by Andrea Borzelli Architect with the cooperation of Francesco Rogantin for Naval Architecture and Engineering, this almost 43m long yacht is available with a four or five guest cabins lower deck layout with crew quarters in the bow area and a beach club and the garage astern. In the main deck, an aft relax area and an over sixty square meter saloon welcome the guests on board. At bow there is the master cabin featured by a big office, a walk-in closet and, if requested, a balcony at starboard side. Between the main saloon and the owner cabin there is the lobby with a large staircase and a day bathroom, plus a technical area with galley, pantry and access to the crew quarters. Two folding balconies along the side passages are positioned at mid saloon creating a nice airy-space feeling. The upper deck’s main characteristic is an open relax area at bow, with sofas and sun beds beyond the wheel house. A second saloon, a day head, the captain’s cabin, a pantry area and an open aft dining area complete this deck’s features. Finally, the 14 meter long sun deck is equipped with a Jacuzzi at bow, dining tables and sun beds. The interior style and the layout are open to the potential owners suggestions and needs. Power is to be from twin 1050hp engines which should speed in the region of 14 knots max, and 13 of cruise.

Improve-it = Botnia 37 Targa
Botnia Marin from Finland presents a new Comfort Fore Cabin for its Targa 37 model. As for the Targa 35 the 37 new CFC offers a totally new level of comfort on board, and adds more storage space. This alternative layout of the fore deck and cabin features a raised area with secure railing and easy movement. Inside, the CFC adds to more space, storage, head room, and the option of a second head. Just as the two feet smaller sister, for the Targa 37 this has produced two alternative bed layouts; a double drawn to starboard side, or a Vee-shaped berth. An optional toilet in the fore cabin is also available raising privacy and flexibility on board. An optional sun pad is also available now on the raised part of the fore deck.
Project: Horizon E54 Aero
Horizon presents its latest project the E54 Aero a motor yacht which is to be powered by Volvo IPS drive technology, an eco-friendly design, spacious interior volume, and efficient ride. Driven by environmental awareness in manufacturing and operation, the Horizon E54 Aero is a modern yacht not only in looks and construction but also in its usage. Exterior styling to the E54 Aero is by JC Espinosa who created a modern streamlined profile, accentuated by large E-glass windows and an oversize windshield for enhanced natural light, increased visibility, and panoramic views. The three stateroom two head layout is comparable to that of a larger yacht, with thoughtfully-designed accommodations that maximize space while retaining an open feel. The IPS drive’s aft location provides increased interior volume, allowing a full-beam master with a walk-in closet, master head and room to spare for either a desk or seating. A guest stateroom with twin bunks is forward and to starboard, with a shared head to port and the highly spacious VIP cabin completely forward. For entertaining with a view, the E54 Aero flybridge features sun pads and alfresco dining for eight, and a newly designed helm station with dynamic positioning system makes maneuvering and docking easy. The aft deck seating area seats six, with the option for an aft galley location that provides easy access to the aft deck, and a hydraulic high low swim platform and transom trunk storage proves ideal for a multitude of water sport activities. The twin Volvo IPS900 with 670hp engines will give a top speed of 34 knots, and a cruise of 28 knots to the Horizon E54 Aero. Hull number one was sold to a down under client and is scheduled for delivery at the end of this year.
Improve-it = Elan Power 48
Elan presents a new version to it's current flagship the 48 Power. This new main deck choice adds a patio door and reconfiguration of this area. This optional layout choice was a request coming from a Northern Europe dealer. In this new layout the 48 Power adds a patio door, with the dinette and galley moving on the main deck, and below area all reserved to the cabins and saloon. The patio door choice also changes the main deck layout plan dramatically with a C-shaped settee located to aft, instead of the usual sun pad area. Down below the choice remains as previously for a two or three cabins choice. With the optional three cabins version you loose the lower saloon. Power is as was previously with shaft propulsion twin Volvo 575hp, IPS600 with 435hp, or Cummins 600hp with ZF Zeus pods.

New Model: Jet Tern 43 Artemis
Jet Tern continues to upgrade its planning European looking motor boat series, and this new 43 Artemis is the entry level of this range from the Chinese builder. The 43 Artemis is the second model in this line up and follows the launch of the 46 model, which has since then been renamed as 48. But further two projects for a 68/70, and a 55 are on the upcoming for the Artemis range. The Jet Tern 43 Artemis offers a two cabins lower deck plan, with a Vee shaped berth to fore, and an owners master room to port side midships. The galley is located below, and on the main deck is located the living with an L-shaped settee, drawers entertainment cabinet opposite, and a lower helm. Engines are a standard of twin Yanmar 380hp which do deliver a quite slow top speed of 25 knots, to the rather heavy 16 tons loaded 43 Artemis.
Technical Data:
LOA - 13.36 m (43.9ft)
Hull Length - 13.06 m
Length Waterline - 11.40 m
Beam - 4.10 m
Draft - 1.07 m
Displacement - 16.1 t full load

Project: Bavaria 34 Sport HT
As is classic to the last couple years Bavaria strategy, the German boat builder follows the standard open version of the 34 Sport with the HT for hard top version. Considering how much hard top models are in demand in the last couple years I am still surprised how this sort of concept is not followed often by other builders. Considering the minimum expense in tooling and the benefits a hard top cruiser usually gives. The 34 Sport HT builds its foundations on the standard model with the same cockpit, and high free board which allow for a spacious two cabins interior. Engine power will be in five choices of petrol and diesel, single or twin. Although my preferred choice has to be for the twin Volvo 220 or 260hp diesel engines. This giving the 34 Sport HT the added safety of twin engines, and also good speed, making it suitable more for longer cruises.

New Model: Intermarine 60
The Brazilian boat builder Intermarine founded in 1973 continues the path into its new course as outlined in the fall of 2010 and presents the first of its fully made in house motor yachts and cruisers. First to launch of this new era for Intermarine which will feature seven models is the 60 designed by Fernando de Almeida together with the yard's technical department. As the above picture shows the Intermarine 60 is a very European looking design, with a curvy futuristic exterior line, and large glass surfaces featured in every area. But a larger to the usual aft deck which is something of high demand in Brazil is also to be found in the very wisely designed 60 which shows the long term experience of Intermarine maturing in its own designs. The main deck living interior area of the 60 offers a split level saloon; with C-shaped sofa, dining table, galley, and helm station. Down below is the space for three double guest cabins all featured with a personal en-suite shower head. The middle cabin is also equipped with sliding single beds which on the occasion can also become a double berth. The owners stateroom located to midships features a dinette breakfast table to starboard side by the large view windows. An intelligent option in the owners room is that the dinette can be changed to a sofa, chaise lounge, or vanity desk depending on your preference. To aft is a larger to the usual twin berths crew cabin also served with shower head. The flybridge offers two sunbathing areas to fore and aft, between the C-shaped dinette, with a helm station, and wet bar located to port side. Power is from twin Volvo 900hp engines which will give a wide open throttle speed of 33 knots.
Technical Data:
LOA - 18.4 m (60.3ft)
Hull Length - 18.05 m
Beam - 4.90 m
Draft - 1.45 m
Displacement - 26 t dry

Project: Cabo 40 Hardtop Express
Cabo presents its latest project the 40 Hardtop Express which is to be presented live and in full affect in the coming Fort Lauderdale show. The model follows in concept and style the recent novelty from the just relocated Carolina Cabo the 44 Hardtop Express, offering a three sided enclosed helm and cockpit area covered hard top. The 40 Hardtop Express will use the hull lines and underwater shapes as used on the 40 Flybridge and Express models. The helm of the 40 Hardtop Express will feature a centre line helm station which will be assisted by a second co-pilot seat to starboard. Other amenities in the cockpit will be an L-shaped settee, and mezzanine settee looking to aft for the fishing action. The interior follows what the 40 Express offers with a double master room to fore, L-shaped lounge sofa, galley, and shower head. Standard power will be from twin 600hp Cummins with ZF Zeus pods propulsion. But other more powerful 710hp Cats or Cummins options on shafts will also be available.
New Model: Mulder 1400 Favorite
Mulder finally launched the new 1400 Favorite what is a return to this name and range in this Dutch builder history. The Favorite was Mulder first official motor boats back in the fifties. Two bigger Mulder Favorite's a 1500 and 1600 models will be presented in the near future. Designed by Vripack, and Guide de Groot the 1400 Favorite presents a down East lobster boat looks and shows the versatility of Mulder Shipyard being available with a round bilge or a chine shaped hull with spray rails. The first is more suitable for slow displacement navigation, and the second is more for the speed lovers. The interior of the 1400 Favorite is a traditional layout with living on the main deck, and galley, two guest cabins, shower head all located below. The owners master cabin is located to fore and will also have a second en-suite entrance to the head, and a separate shower room. Four engine choices are to be available for the 1400 Favorite starting from standard twin Volvo 150hp which give a 12 knots max, up to Volvo's 435hp engines. Project: Galeon 550 Fly
Poland's Galeon continue to challenge the market with innovative projects, and its next novelty is the 550 Fly model. The 550 Fly is again a design from keel to top by British designer Tony Castro, now responsible for nearly all new Galeon models as presented after 2005 by the Strazyn located boat builder. The 550 Fly will be in my understanding a future replacement of the 530 Fly, although Galeon does like to leave the previous successful models in production for a year before actually phasing them out. The 550 Fly is a very complete motor yacht with a clever layout, and a sea kindly hull making it able to challenge any similar sized style flybridge motor yacht in the market today. Both the flybridge and the aft deck will offer premium sizes for a seventeen meter motor yacht, and the lower deck is among the most spacious in this size. Here a three cabins layout with full beam owners stateroom, VIP suite to fore, and double guest room is to be found. To aft will be a cabin with two single berths and a shower head, serving the crew or extra guests. This can also be replaced with a tender garage, a very hard to find feature on a flybridge motor yacht under sixty feet in size. As recent Galeon models the 550 Fly continues the theme of a natural light filled interior thanks to huge windows found in all the areas from the cabins to the main deck. Another clever feature for the 550 Fly will be the astern galley in the split level saloon which thanks to the swivel patio door also serves the aft deck. This along with the choice of the tender garage aft represent the design hall marks of the 550 Fly. Power will be from twin MAN or Volvo engines with in line shaft propulsion, but Galeon also advises that a lot of study has gone to make the 550 Fly with an exceptional low center of gravity which offers better stability in rough sea conditions.

New Model: Columbus 54m Classic
Palumbo launched the first of its new Columbus super yacht series with the 177 M/Y Prima, a steel and aluminum 54 metre completed in the Naples, South Italy shipyard on the 20th of June. The 177 Columbus was designed by Sergio Cutolo responsible for the naval architecture and exterior, with Tommaso Spadolini taking care for the interior. Palumbo is at the moment building another 55m Columbus, for this range which so far features seven models from 38 to 75 metres all designed by Sergio Cutolo especially for Palumbo. The technical launch of this beautiful Superyacht was attended by local Authorities, shipyard workers, national and international brokers and specialist press. Palumbo Columbus 177 represents an important goal for the Naples based shipyard when last year it acquired two Shipyards in Malta, one of them fully dedicated to superyachts refitting. Palumbo Group is very proud to have achieved this goal and to have built its first Yacht entirely with local Italian workers at the highest quality standards and advanced technology in the field and would like to thank all those who have participated and have made possible this unique project realized in the south central part of Italy, showing the excellence achieved. The Columbus 177 has a classic super yacht look with retained precise proportions without excessive elements that help give her a distinctive appeal, like the curved upper deck windows. The sun deck on the flybridge offers a large circular pool, and there is another conversation area in the open air on the forward upper deck. For the interior design created by renowned architect Tommaso Spadolini a geometric style was chosen expressed in large spaces offering outstanding comfort and practicality throughout, and where any possible restricted, uncomfortable areas have been eliminated therefore remaining elegant and attractive offering in the same time also intense functionality. Late motive is the phrasing of the bright ceiling colours, intersected by darker wood panels, and the brown of the Italian walnut floors, with inserts of calacatta gold marble. Palumbo Columbus 177 offers an interior accommodation with six guest cabins sleeping twelve, which include a full beam owner’s stateroom with balcony and VIP suite on the bridge deck. Exceptional volume, large common areas and massive internal volumes are the main characteristic of this super yacht. Crew space is for twelve beds in six cabins plus a captains cabin. Palumbo Columbus 177 was built in compliance with the Rules of ABS and she is suitable for unrestricted navigation with following class notation Maltese Cross A1, Yachting Service, UMS, and also obtained RINA Green plus as an additional notation class.

Powerboat Endurance
The 2011 Powerboat Endurance started off early the past June month. With a new promoter to the championship Ocean Grand Prix taking over from UIM emergency power it took last year the first round of the 2011 season had a very slow start to what normally is with a total of seven boats and competitors (three in Super Sport and four in Evolution) taking part. Missing are also important teams as the current Evolution champion Metamarine, and 2009 and 2006 winner OSG. Both of these teams have been a fixed fixture and great supporters of the championship since 2004.
I have followed the Powerboat Endurance Series since it started in 2002, then it become Powerboat P1 in 2003 till 2009 and this made a set up for great things with the championship becoming better each year. Surely the bench mark was in 2008 when we had 25 total competitors, twelve in each the two classes. That is minus the wild cards which some time compete in singular rounds. Can the current promoter reach again this bench mark. Only time will tell! The promotion on the website looks good, what we are missing so far is the competitors, but the new Maltese promoter did advise that three more competitors should make it for the next round in August.
This will be the first year of the now called Ocean Grand Prix how the things will go from now onwards will surely be the gauge for the teams to support or neglect the championship in the future. The series definitely has a lot of potential, and it would be nice as we have seen in the last couple of years to see some support from the builders and engine manufacturers to the series. But that will come on the awareness that Ocean Grand Prix will be capable to bring to the championship.
