New Model: Jet Tern Selene 72 Ocean Explorer

Jet Tern presents the new Selence 72 Ocean Explorer coming from Howard Chen long standing collaboration with Dutch designer Guido de Groot. With this the 72 Ocean Explorer profile was drafted to fit the qualities of a Selene classic ocean yacht but with softer lines and a different interior decoration that attract European owners. It shows a number of the Selene family traits with her powerful raised pilothouse, Portuguese bridge, wide upper deck, and side-deck walk-arounds which provide safety and convenience for passengers of all ages. But a new approach is also visible in the addition of the large side windows in the hull and the curvy and sleek lines of the flying bridge.  The Selene 72 Ocean Explorer exterior elegance extends to the beautiful light-filled interior in the climate-controlled salon offers high-end comfort with a surrounding view of nature while cruising or at anchor. The lower deck of the Selene 72 Ocean Explorer has three or four guest cabins, a luxurious full-beam owner’s cabin and a crew’s quarters with two cabins and private head which is connected to a very large swimming platform, which can be equipped with a hydraulic Tender-lift.

Jet Tern continue to upgrade the size of the Selene range and present the project of the 128 Ocean Trawler.  The new Jet Tern flagship is the result of an international collaboration of designers and architects under Howard Chen's design team leadership. Howard Chen has worked closely again with renowned Dutch designer Guido De Groot and a group of International consultants to develop a contemporary take on a long range yacht whilst capitalizing on Jet Tern construction reputation for experience in the displacement type hulls.  Like the currently in construction 92, the 128 is also a design by De Groot, the third for the China based builder.by the Dutch architect.  The main difference of the 36 feet longer new flagship 128, is that it is a a triple deck displacement super yacht with a sundeck on top. Built all in fiberglass as the smaller sisters the 128 Ocean Trawler also sports the more modern look of all the Selene's with a sharp angled bow, giving her together with her round surfaces and stylish feature lines on the side more sleekness. The Selene 128 Ocean Trawler will offer a five guest cabins accommodation located in the lower deck with two guest and VIP cabins all featuring en-suite heads, and an owners state room located in the front-part of the main deck featuring a bath, large shower area and a fantastic view through the large windows in the hull.. New Model: Jet Tern 63 Apollo

After making a good name with the Selene trawler explorer cruisers and yachts range, and following this with the Artemis modern planning boat line in 2010, Jet Tern takes another challenge to the Power Catamaran and presents the 63 Apollo model.  For this new challenge Jet Tern hired important French names for the design of its first catamaran, and the results has been good seeing that hull two is under construction, and a smaller Apollo is at the moment in the tooling department. The 63 Apollo a name which represents the Greek God of the Sun, is a three cabin Power Catamaran, and surprises for having the owner stateroom located on the main deck, and in the centre part of the boat.  This apart giving extra comfort is unusual in a yacht of nineteen meters even in a catamaran.  The two other guest suites are to be found one in each hull, and both offer circle shaped large view windows.  An extra optional fourth double cabin is available on request.  Living space is impressive and thanks to the eight meters plus of beam the 63 Apollo offers 145 squared meters of space, this being divided with a galley located behind to starboard of the central helm, and lounge sofas found on the entrance of the main deck.  Power is from twin Cats 1010hp engines which give a top speed of 28 knots, and a cruise of 25, but a long range option of smaller 450hp Cats is also available.

Project: Jet Tern 30 Serena

After making good market success with its Selene range of trawlers, and following up with the planning Mediterranean looking Artemis range presented in 2009 Jet Tern from China present a new range for a Sport Cruiser boat with the new 30 Serena.  The Serena range was already presented with an open outboard of 22 feet.  But this new 30 Serena project takes things to another level for the Chinese boat builder with a host of Mediterranean looks and concepts.  Accommodation plan for the 30 Serena is for a four berth interior, with galley and separate head.  But interesting is the cockpit deck which features a dinette with two opposite bench seats, L-shaped settee, helm station, and a small wet bar.  Not bad for a boat which measures over all just thirty feet included an extended tender stowing bathing platform.  Standard power is from twin Mercruiser 220hp gas engines which should give a 30 knots top speed.

New Model: Jet Tern 43 Artemis

Jet Tern continues to upgrade its planning European looking motor boat series, and this new 43 Artemis is the entry level of this range from the Chinese builder.  The 43 Artemis is the second model in this line up and follows the launch of the 46 model, which has since then been renamed as 48.  But further two projects for a 68/70, and a 55 are on the upcoming for the Artemis range.  The Jet Tern 43 Artemis offers a two cabins lower deck plan, with a Vee shaped berth to fore, and an owners master room to port side midships.  The galley is located below, and on the main deck is located the living with an L-shaped settee, drawers entertainment cabinet opposite, and a lower helm.  Engines are a standard of twin Yanmar 380hp which do deliver a quite slow top speed of 25 knots, to the rather heavy 16 tons loaded 43 Artemis.
Technical Data:
LOA - 13.36 m (43.9ft)
Hull Length - 13.06 m

Project: Jet Tern 70 Artemis

Jet Tern continue to pursue its planning line expansion with the presentation of the 70 Artemis project.  The new 70 is again a design of architect Guide De Groot. There is still no details for this project on Jet Tern web site, although there is a mention of up coming 55 and 68 models.  The 70 Artemis should be the 68, and joins the now renamed 48 and recently launched 46 model.  Again modern European looks are part of the Artemis line and the 70 Artemis is no exception, but Jet Tern say that construction is to be of the same high standard as Selene ocean going trawlers.  Layout has not been advised yet but I accept a four cabin plus crew lower deck, and a split area saloon.  Interesting is the very sleek hard top and upper structure design.  Power options have not been advised yet but I again imagine sub thirty knots speed as the 48 Artemis.

Project: Jet Tern Selene 92 Ocean Explorer

Jet Tern announces the sale of a Selene 92 Ocean Explorer, based on the 86 series designed by Guido de Groot. Hull one is currently under construction and work is well underway on plug and tooling. The first sale of the series was concluded at the recent Cannes show on the French Riviera and she will be delivered in 2012 to the Mediterranean where she is expected to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show. This new Ocean Explorer range has been very well received as the Selene brand consolidates upon its successful Ocean Trawler concept to move into the 24 metres plus Super Yacht size. The 92 and 86 projects are the result of a multinational collaboration of designers and architects under Howard Chen leadership. Howard Chen has worked closely with renowned Dutch architect Guido De Groot and a group of International consultants to develop a contemporary take on the long range yacht whilst capitalizing on builder Jet Tern Marine high quality construction and reputation for experience and innovation in the displacement yacht sector. The 92 differentiates from the 86 for the fact that it is longer, as visual appearance are very difficult to find although the bridge side windows are larger, and to aft we have a single port hole per side instead of three. A first look at the 92 shows a number of the expected Selene family traits with her powerful raised pilothouse, Portuguese bridge, and bulbous bow. But a contemporary twist is also apparent in the addition of the large side windows in the hull and stainless steel anchor pockets, and I add what looks also a more low profile modern line. She takes the simple and proven concept of the fuel efficient and seaworthy long range yacht to a new level of luxury and with all of the advantages of fiberglass construction.

Project: Jet Tern Selene 86 Ocean Explorer

Jet Tern Marine is continues its expansion of the ocean trawlers line presenting the project and designs for the new Selene 86 Ocean Explorer. The new design is the result of an international collaboration of designers and architects under Howard Chen’s team leadership. Working closely with renowned Dutch naval architect Guido de Groot and other international consultants, Jet Tern Marine has developed a contemporary take on the long range yacht. The Selene 86 is the largest design in the fleet and is part of the Ocean Explorer series. The new 86 will be built with solid reinforced fiberglass construction applied with vacuum resin infusion, and will have ocean going capability, low fuel consumption, and extensive range. The Ocean Explorer models also have a high level of luxury and super yacht styling. The Selene 86 resembles her sister ships in that the design features a raised pilothouse, Portuguese bridge, and bulbous bow. However, this new flagship from Jet Tern has more contemporary exterior lines as well as the addition of large side windows in the hull, and stainless steel anchor pockets which is a departure from other Selene models. The blend of the traditional full displacement hull with modern design details and interior appointments qualify the new Selene 86 Ocean Explorer as a true luxury long range yacht. Inside, the Selene 86 boasts four staterooms each with an en suite head. Though this boat could be handled by a couple thanks to sophisticated systems, crew quarters are integral to the design. Jet Tern anticipates that the 86 Ocean Explorer will appeal to existing Selene owners who have expressed interest in a larger Selene model with more of a luxury yacht feel. The Selene 86 Ocean Explorer is designed to carry 15,000 litres of fuel and cruise comfortably at 10 knots with a top speed of 13 knots. Tank tests are under way and Jet Tern describes the boat as very fuel efficient for her class. Standard power will be supplied by twin Cummins 610hp engines and sophisticated fuel polishing and fuel monitoring systems are also standard features. Molds for the Selene 86 are under construction and hull number one is expected to launch in time to debut at the fall of 2011.
