Classic Viking Sinks at Perry Marina in Key West, Florida

A not attended classic fourteen meter Viking sportfish cruiser sank as it was berthed at Perry Marina in Key West Florida, on Saturday 23 May.  US Coast Guard sector Key West responded to the sinking and upon arrival observed diesel discharge, as the vessel was reported in carrying about 2600 litres of diesel.  For this reason the Coast Guard Federal On Scene Coordinator authorized the use of federal funds to lift the vessel and remove all remaining fuel and oil from the vessel.  The cause of the sinking is not reported.
The boat in this accident is a Viking 48 Convertible Sport Fisher as produced from 1985 to 1990.  The 48 Convertible Sport Fisher was a replacement to the 46 Convertible Sport Fisher, and was replaced by the Viking 47 Convertible.
