Project: Rio 45 Daytona

Rio presents the Daytona 45 project, set to debut in the fall of 2023. This new 45 follows on the footsteps on the ten meter S model which debuted the Daytona range in 2020, and fourteen meter L model from 2021.  Again a project of Marino Alfani the Rio 45 Daytona is a sport cruiser with walk around features.  Two large side bulkheads one to each side which are about 25% of the boat length and will flip downward and extend the aft deck floor space and create a massive beach club.  These bulkheads are among the largest per length of boat, and when down and open the floor space in the area is increased by about 50% compared to when it is closed.  The Rio Daytona 45 will offer a lower deck interior sleeping four and a galley.  The standard accommodation area presents itself with a forward island double, and a midships cabin with twin berths.  A tender garage is also located aft, but probably if one would take the outboard options, this is lost, as the Daytona 45 has the feature of having the outboard engines hidden under the aft sun-pad. The Rio Daytona 45 is to be powered by twin Yanmar 370hp diesel engines with stern drive propulsion, which will give speed up to 38 knots.  Petrol gas outboard option is also available from twin Mercury 400hp with top speeds up to 44 knots.

New Model: Rio Daytona 50

Launching the Daytona range for its sixtieth anniversary in 2020, with the Daytona S for small 34, Rio follows it the Dayton L for large 46 model.  A sport cruiser walk around model with easy usable deck forward to aft, and opening side bulkheads aft, the Daytona L 46 strikes an interesting balance of being of jack of all trades.  Unlike most walkaround cruisers the Rio Daytona L offers a comfortable two cabin interior with a single bathroom, bench style saloon and an utility room, located under the stairway to the cabin area.  The Rio Daytona L 46 is powered by triple Yanmar 370hp with diesel engines, which give speeds up to forty knots.  For those who want more speed Rio also offers an outboard petrol gas option of triple Mercury 450hp with engines hidden under the aft sun-pad.

Project: Rio 46 Daytona

In the year of its sixtieth anniversary, Rio presents a new sport cruiser synonymous with freedom and luxury: Daytona 46.  The Daytona range, which started in September 2020 with the 34 model, a huge success from the start which just after a few months from presentation at the Genoa Boat Show sold the entire 2021 year production.  Now meeting the demand for practical and sporty open cruisers, suitable first for short-distance cruising, with preference for space above rather than below deck, with dynamic and fun performances, Rio present the project of the Daytona 46.  Designed by Marino Alfani, the Daytona 46 will offer a two double cabin interior with a saloon, and a spacious bathroom to starboard.  Living on this new generation centre console is located on the main deck, with three seater helm station under the central T-top, galley and dinette behind it, and an aft and fore deck sundeck.  Just as happens with the latest centre console the Rio Daytona 46 also offers opening side bulwarks which increase the space of the aft part of the main deck.  The Rio Daytona 46 is powered by twin Yanmar 370hp with stern drive propulsion, giving a max speed of 35 knots.  An outboard option with twin Mercury 450hp is also available, this giving a top speed up to forty knots.

Improve-it = Rio Parana 38

For 2020 Rio starts the year with an update to one of its strongest models, the Parana 38.  The Marino Alfani designed Rio Parana 38 while keeping the same hull lines, gets a full update to its windscreen and hardtop, and a new stern design.  The hard top now is a fully integrated and extended design and follows similar line to those of the larger 44 and 56 models.  For the rest the new 2020 version of the Parana 38 keeps the great features of the first model, with two options for the midships cabin, standard in three berths or a master stateroom bed looking to aft layout.  Another great feature of the Rio Parana 38 is its 9.98 registry length to a thirteen meter plus overall length.  The Rio Parana 38 is standard powered by twin Volvo 300hp with stern drive propulsion.

Rio New Web Site

Rio presents its new website World wide virtual showroom.  Rio was founded in 1961 by Dr. Luigi Scarani first as Avionautica Rio building wooden runabouts powered by Rolls Royce and Chris Craft engines. The success continues and in the seventies Rio in collaboration with Italian company Eni launches its first plastic ABS material boat, the 310 sold in 50,000 examples. In the eighties Rio opens further production establishments in Spain and France, and also launches its working boats line selling 200 units to the Italian police departments. In the second decade of the 2000's Rio started a project of qualitry re-branding itself and thanks to collaborations with designer Marino Alfani presents new important models.  Among the first models but not only of this upgrade is the 54 Colorado launched in 2010.  Currently Rio offers seven models from the 34 Espera to the still in project Sport Bridge 62.  In 2019 Rio launched two new models the Sport Coupe 44 and 56 models. New Model: Rio Sport Coupe 44

Rio present the new Sport Coupe 44, a sport cruiser built on the strength and experience of its successful predecessor the Colorado 44 but completely revolutionized in size, aesthetics and layout. Rio has launched its largest build to date with the christening for its new 60 Granturismo model.  Set to be presented in the USA at the Fort Lauderdale 2017 boat show the new Rio 60 Granturismo is again an evolution of the 54 Colorado model which launched in 2010, and was followed by the 56, and the 58 Granturismo.  The 60 Granturismo main difference to the smaller models is the fore-deck settee, an extra ten centimeters in beam, and more powerful 1000hp Cat engines.  The interior is very similar layout to the smaller big Rio's with a standard two suites arrangement; owners at midship and VIP forward. An optional third cabin is available in replacement of the L-shaped dinette below deck.  A crew cabin is located aft.

Project: Rio 68 Sport Bridge

Having a success with the current Rio 54 and 56 Colorado, and a 58 GTA currently in construction stages, the North Italian boat builder is setting sight on ever more bigger models.  Enters the project for a Rio 68 Sport Bridge, which is again a design to Marino Alfani.  As the title says the Rio 68 Sport Bridge, will feature a sport flybridge up top, visible but still something which merges with the sleek lines.  The interior layout of the 68 Sport Bridge will offer a living on the main deck with astern galley, dining and dinette, while below will be all dedicated to four double cabins including a full beam owners stateroom.  The Rio 68 Sport Bridge will also offer three exterior areas; aft deck, fly-bridge and fore-ship.  Standard power will come from twin Cats 1150hp with line shaft propulsion.

Rio continues to be pro active and presents the project for the 40 Spider. The 40 Spider will feature a no frills type super structure, no radar arch or hard top, and is deck will be an amazing single level offering interesting entertainment spaces.  Her accommodation layout below will offer a four plus two plan, with owners cabin forward, guest cabin with french berth at midships, and a convertible sofa.  Standard power will come from twin Mercruiser 268hp stern drive propulsion engines.

Project: Rio 58 GTS

Rio presents the project for a new 58 GTS, a further development of the well received 54 and 56 Colorado models. The 58 GTS will have important notable differences to the 56 Colorado, and while the exterior is almost identical when looking from distance the top deck has recieved a subtle important redesign and is now higher and deeper.  This has been done in order to offer a fore deck lounge with a U-shape settee looking forward.  In the 58 GTS the stern area is also redesigned now having a larger settee and only one transom entrance to starboard.  From the intial renderings as shown on Rio Facebook page the 58 GTS should also offer space for a garage.  Other important notable differences will be the fuel capacity of three thousand liters, an extra of 750 liters on the 56.  Rio is labelling the 58 GTS as a custom product and hull one has started construction with a completion slated for middle 2017.

New Model: Rio 44 Colorado

Rio continues expanding and for 2016 the North Italian Brescia pleasure boat builder presents the 44 Colorado, a fourteen meter enclosed hard top sport cruiser with intelligent exterior spaces and a spacious three double cabin interior.  So far it is not clear if the 44 Colorado is a replacement to one of the 42 and 46 Air models.  Looking at the plans and technical content one understands that the three similar sized models which share hull can co-exist cause of the differences; see fully open hard top two cabins and IPS propulsion for the Air models. The Rio 44 Colorado has interesting layout solutions usually found on larger boats.  For example its flash main deck and the three part patio door can become an all open area of eight square meters. But the surprises of the Rio 44 Colorado do not stop, as the fourteen meter sports cruiser surprises again for its three double cabins below deck, which still features a spacious full beam owners suite.  This is in addition to a VIP cabin forward, bunk third cabin to starboard, and L-shaped sofa to port side. The galley of the 44 Colorado is located on the main deck behind the helm station to starboard.  Power for the new Rio is standard Cummins 480hp with line shaft propulsion, or optional Volvo 370hp coupled to stern drives propulsion.

New Model: Rio 38 Parana

Rio is a builder to watch in recent times and the 38 Parana designed by Marino Alfani is an important entrance ticket to its renovated range.  Replacement to the good looking 36 Air the Rio 38 Parana with a bit more length brings important novelties to the twelve meter sport cruiser sector.  The 38 Parana does all this by staying in the small boat under ten meter registry.  One of the most interesting details of the 38 Parana is for sure its lower deck layout, available in three double or two large cabin plan choices. In the large two cabin option the two midships cabins are replaced by a spacious full beam owners room with private en-suite head at midships. The 38 Parana also improves the exterior cockpit and now is a full flash deck no step layout with open convivial spaces.  Power for the Rio 38 Parana comes from twin Volvo 300hp engines which give max speeds up to 35 knots.

An update of the well received and innovative 54, the 56 Colorado gets added with an important in size bathing platform, now able to accommodate a larger rib, or jet bike.  Another update for the new 56 Colorado will also be the addition of larger engines choices from the Cummins 715hp with ZF pod drives to the choice of Volvo 725hp or Man 800hp as fitted on hull one of the series.  For the remaining the Rio 56 Colorado keeps the superlative points of the 54, as its light filled and spacious galley located on the lower deck just under the helm station, its innovative fully opening hard top with fully disappearing patio door, and its large full beam owners cabin.

Project: Rio 44 Colorado

Rio presents the project for a new 44 Colorado set to launch later on in 2016.  Innovative as it can get the 44 Colorado pushes the segment of a fourteen meter sport cruiser to new accommodation layouts offering a three double cabin interior without sacrificing the spacious full beam owners suite.  Indeed looking at the specification its seems the new Rio does not sacrifice much stuff as even its fuel tank capacity at 1400 liters is on the bigger side of things for a sport cruiser of this size. Power options on the 44 Colorado sees Rio looking a bit back from the current 46 Air model, as it will be offered with Volvo 370hp on stern drives, or Cummins 480hp on shafts, meaning no pod propulsion system.

Project: Rio 38 Parana

Rio presents an  interesting sport cruiser project the 38 Parana, with the Italian boat builder continuing its recent trend of picking model names from its archives. Judging by the beam the 38 Parana is based on the hull of the 36 Art and Air models. None the less the super structure and lines as appear on the renderings so far present seem to give the 38 Parana more sweeping sports lines and total different looks. Equaling to a totally new model. The 38 Parana is offered with two options for the lower deck, a feature which sets its apart from most mainstream competition in this size. The choice here is two cabins; VIP to fore, and a full beam owners room amidships with own en-suite shower head, or a three cabin version and a smaller L-shaped dinette and saloon. Standard power is twin Volvo 300hp with stern drives propulsion.

New Model: Rio 34 Espera

Rio Yachts celebrating its fifty years launch the 34 Espera model, which was only shown as a project a couple of weeks ago.  The 34 Espera represents not only Rio's own gift to itself but also a new range for the Italian boat builder which is a tribute to the first wooden craft it build in its early days.  The 34 Espera as said in project review is Rio's vision of an open walk around boat with cabin features.  Of all the models so far presented by other builders the 34 Espera is the more aggressive looking.  Open spaces, center console, and four berth interior are all part of the 34 Espera functions.  Inside the interior also offers a two plus two interior; separate cabin to midships, convertible Vee shaped settee to fore, and a shower head.  The galley is located outside behind the center console.  Convenient side decks lead to fore peak raised deck.  But transformations and hidden tables, passarelle are all part of the exterior functions of the new Rio. Other options for the 34 Espera will be a center light material hard top, and an outboard version with twin Mercury 300hp engines called the Espera TA.  Power of the normal 34 Espera is optional twin Volkswagen 265hp diesel or standard Mercury 305hp petrol gas choice.

Project: Rio 34 Espera

Rio presents the project of the 34 Espera.  This medium sized sport cruiser innovates in its style joining sleek lines with solution as found on a walk around boat.  Those who know the Rio brand might say that the North Italian company has already the Blu line which offers such a similar concept, but the 34 Espera does move into a more sportier aggressive category.  The 34 Espera will offer a four berth accommodation below which comes from a convertible V-berth sofa to fore, and a separate double bed mid ship cabin.  A more to the usual spacious for this size shower head will be located to starboard.  The cockpit which is the main living area of the 34 Espera uses all the beam of the boat with an L-shaped settee located to aft, central helm console, and a galley.  Other options like a more open sport fish layout will also be available, as the choice of a central hard top above the console. Power comes from a standard twin Mercruiser 305hp petrol gas engines, to optional Volkswagen 265hp diesel in a stern drive propulsion.  A twin outboard version named 34 Espera TA and powered by twin Mercury Verado's should also be available.
