New Model: Canados 122 Caesar

Canados present its new 122 Caesar, a flagship in its traditional planning flybridge motor and super yacht line which today starts at eighty feet, and in the past has been the bread and butter of the Ostia Rome Italian yacht builder. The concept behind 122 Caesar is a super yacht created with a genuine leisure and lifestyle platform, where luxury, comfort and communion with the sea are fused in one astonishing design. The Canados 122 Caesar represents an experience where every parameter of an owner’s expectations has been considered and addressed. The primary defining aspect of the 122 Caesar is the constant interaction between the ocean and those on-board. To achieve this, no detail has been overlooked. The over-sized bathing platform, under-sole storage for your personal watercraft with a 4.30m tender garage that transforms into a teak paneled beach club, complete with shower and day-head all contribute to optimizing on-water activities. Over-sized saloon glass windows offer permanent visual contact with the sea.  The 122 Caesar has been created by a dedicated team of yacht builders in collaboration with a panel of owners, each of whom fully understand what is required. Every single detail, piece of equipment and shape has been drawn to optimize form and functionality. From deck space, terraces and the carbon fiber hardtop opening system, to over-sized portholes. The number of innovations created to enhance enjoyment are simply too many to list. It is an open secret within the yachting industry that Canados is one of the few builders to manufacture its own interiors. 122 Caesar is also a true ocean going vessel. Pleasure and practicality have been seamlessly merged to ensure your pleasure and safety is effortlessly achieved. Internationally renowned Boffi Kitchen manufactures the galleys to Canados design, while companionways and passages all offer secure circulation around the yacht even when underway. For added aesthetic appeal and purity of the yacht’s profile, all life rafts are concealed in quick release storage lockers. The focus on interaction of guests with the ocean results through a series of unique technical innovations including floor to ceiling main deck side glass walls and optional terraces featuring pop-up security guardrails to optimize the views afforded by its hydraulic gull wing doors and wrap around windows. The raised pilothouse is equipped with the latest state-of-the art navigation, communication and monitoring systems, allowing the crew total control over the entire yacht from a single position. Distinctly athletic in her design and aesthetic appeal, the 122 Caesar is an elegant and efficient performer, and powered by twin MTU 2600hp, allow her to cruise effortlessly at 24 knots and achieve a top speed of 27 knots. Faster yachts may exist, but surely not with such a power to performance ratio. No other yacht at 36 meters possesses the 122 Caesar comfort and level of performance for commensurate power. Thanks to a carefully studied noise management plan, at 22-knots the engines are inaudible on the flybridge, and all over the main deck. While cruising, one can comfortably enjoy lunch in the dining room or watch a movie in the main saloon.

New Launch: Benetti 47 meter FB703

Benetti custom mega yacht FB703 M/Y “Bacchanal”, with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, was launched in a festive atmosphere on August 2 in Viareggio. At 47 meters in length and with a draught of 2.45 metres, FB703 has a gross tonnage of just under 500 tonnes.  Despite the international feel of the yacht’s style, influenced significantly by architect Mauricio Gómez de Tuddo who worked with the Benetti Interior Style Department on the décor, FB703 is permeated by unique furnishings “Made in Italy” by brands like Minotti and Paola Lenti, as well as by Giorgetti, Rimadesio, Poltrona Frau and Exteta. The design of the sleek, elegant exteriors is entirely the work of Benetti. The layout, designed to accommodate twelve guests and seven crew, is spread across four decks, on which both interiors and exteriors share the same uniform approach. This effort can be seen most clearly on the Main Deck, where the cockpit, dining area and main lounge are divided by full-width frame-less sliding glass doors, creating an airy in and out veranda space. The pleasurable sensation of being out in the open air and having more direct contact with the sea makes the spaces seem larger and fills them with natural light. This solution is enriched and enhanced by the choice of teak floors with black caulking in both indoor and outdoor areas.  The night area for guests, consisting of two VIP and two guest cabins, is on the Lower Deck, as are the crew quarters. The captain’s accommodation and a third VIP cabin are on the Upper Deck. The full-beam owner’s suite, entered through a private study, is in the bow section of the Main Deck. The custom pool on the Sun Deck is clad in mosaic by Sicis, representing the ultimate in elegance.  Benetti FB703 is equipped with a sonar system to increase on board safety, allowing to identify bodies in the sea and providing information about any obstacles up to and over 500 meters from the yacht.  FB703 is powered by two MTU 1448hp engines and cruises at a speed of 14 knots, with a range of 4000 nautical miles at ten knots, allowing it to make transatlantic crossings.

New Model: Riva 14.92 mt Dolceriva

The Riva Dolceriva was the surprise novelty at this years 2019 Cannes boat show by the Ferretti Group.  This is day slash sport cruiser re-invented, with a unique sophisticated design born from the since early nineties Riva designers Officina Italiana Design, the studio of Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta.  That is over 25 years, of designing Riva, and Micheli and Berretta really have the pulse what the legendary brand and its unique sophistication mean.  The Dolceriva measures over fourteen meters and this is an open sport cruiser conceived to all intents and purposes to live life on board outside and inside in an absolute comfort, which aims to challenge the market with some unprecedented strengths. The exterior is spacious and an opening bathing platform doubles the beach area aft, while as center stage we have two sun-pads, an L-shaped dinette to port side, with a sofa and wet bar opposite, while forward we have a helm station and a companionway settee to port side.  Below is a lot of space for a single cabin forward with an L-shaped relaxing dinette and galley opposite. For the Dolceriva Micheli developed a new exterior pattern with a dividing space in between the shear line joining the hull window with the windscreen.  According to Ferretti Group we will see more of this in future Riva's and I really hope so as the design is actually unique giving a lot of equilibrium.  The Riva Dolveriva is powered by twin Volvo 800hp engines as standard with optional 1000hp units, and V-drive shaft line propulsion.

Fabio Buzzi 1943 - 2019

Fabio Buzzi tragically left for the better World on September seventeenth 2019 at around 2100 hours in a Montecarlo Venice record breaking attempt which ended in tragedy in the final moments.  Records which Fabio Buzzi made so many times his in the years all over the World.  Fabio was a firm believer of application of his design theories with the real test being that of competition, which he was very much involved since 1960.  A unique trait of the genius that was Fabio Buzzi was not only involved in hull design but also in his expertise in diesel engines which he revolutionized in the eighties with Seatek, and also in that of propulsion with the Trimax surface-drives.  Buzzi was born in Lecco, Italy in 28 January 1943 to a family tied for centuries in building and design.  Buzzi started his involvement in powerboat racing in 1960, in 1971 he graduated from the Polytechnic of Turin in mechanical engineering with a thesis of self construct vessel, and in the same year FB Design is founded.  In 1974 he build his first powerboat a three pointed hydroplane called Mostro, first ever build boat with Kevlar 49 and with it will set at the time a World speed record for the S4 class at 95.39 knots. FB Design first specialization is high performance vessels, and later over the years enters the area of building specialized fast patrol craft for military and maritime control.  In 1986 with Carlo Bonomi, Fabio Buzzi founds SeaTek, specialized in high performance diesel engines.  Fabio Buzzi will collaborate over the years with many yards in designing hulls, most of which coming from his native country Italy.  His most known and famous boat building collaboration was with Milan fast sport cruiser and yacht builder Cigala and Bertinetti in the seventies and eighties, off which with them he will produce various legendary models most of which the famous Nitro 50, which was baptized as Cesa 1882 in the Class One offshore, and recently reborn as FPT red.  Cesa 1882 won two World Championships in 1988 and 89, and was unstoppable in racing when the sea got choppy and rough and the design over the years evolved into the Kerakoll, and then in the Metamarine/Tommy One, both taking top honours in the Endurance Powerboat World champions.  Other builders which saw Buzzi collaborate where Off Course, Tecnomar in the eighties, Novamarine for the high performance rib cruisers and yachts line, Alfamarine with the 43 and 50 models, and Otam which has the 80 HT and 2019 launched 85 GTS model based on his 2001 FB Design 80 Record hull.  The 80 Record which did the Montecarlo to London record.  Buzzi also collaborated with Sunseeker twice selling to the British company the design of the XS 2000 and the 2019 launched 38 Superhawk, this later being his recent 38 Stab with more refined finishes.  Fabio Buzzi has over the years conquered over 26 titles and records.  His designs have captured 52 World Offshore titles, 22 European Offshore titles, 27 Italian Championships, forty World speed records, and won seven Harmsworth Trophies.

Montecarlo Venice Record Attempt Ends in Tragedy

A record attempt between Monte Carlo and Venice ended in tragedy the evening of seventeenth September at about 2100, just some minutes away from concluding the feat.  The fast powerboat of around twenty meter in length finished against the San Nicoletto breakwater, in the locality of Lunata in the Venice Lagoon.  The San Nicoletto breakwater is a protection barrier for the Mose, a mobile gate aimed in protecting Venice when the high tide of the Northern Adriatic occurs.  News are reporting that the twenty meter fast powerboat crashed on the breakwater at a speed of eighty knots, and with the impact ended on the other side of the breakwater.  Departing from Montecarlo on Monday at 1100 hours, the record attempt at this stage was nearly completed with only minutes away from success.  The timing of the feat at this stage, and excluding the pit stop was at 18 hours thirty minutes. Three pilots; offshore legend Fabio Buzzi, Luca Nicolini, and the Dutch Eric Hoorn lost there lives.  In grievous condition also other popular offshore name Mario Invernizzi, who is reported as at today in stable conditions.
Fabio Buzzi was piloting most possibly one of his FB Sixty fast boats which had top speed capability up to seventy knots in full load condition.  We still do not have details of the craft Fabio Buzzi was using for this Montecarlo Venice new record breaking attempt, which he made his many times, over the years.  Buzzi most recent record of the challenge came in twelfth July 2016 with a twin 1600hp MTU powered FB 60, who did the course in 22 hours 5 minutes and 42 seconds with an average speed of 52.3 knots.

Projects: Fairline Targa 50 GT, Fairline Targa 50 Open

Fairline presents the projects for new Targa 50 GT and Open versions.  These projects are not entirely new based on the current 48 versions launched in 2013, and being one of the most recent successes of the British brand.  The 50's apart minor stylistical changes will feature 44 centimeters of extra length in the bathing platform. The new exterior styling features stunning anthracite vinyl wrapped hardtops. There is a bold choice of burnt orange, vivid red or electric blue exterior upholstery and complementing helm seats, creating a stand out impression as soon as you step onboard.  A signature Fairline Yachts feature bulkhead gives the master cabin added space and the interior has rich, luxurious textures throughout. These include New Zealand wool twist carpets, oak flooring, Carrara white marble worktops, Italian leather, highlights of satin bronze and carefully considered atmospheric lighting throughout. The fifteen meter Targa 50 sports yachts is powered by twin Volvo 440hp as standard, and or optional 480hp or 550hp, this last featuring a larger engine block.  All engines run on  IPS propulsion, to a hull designed by JandJ from Slovenia.

New Model: Absolute 47 Fly

Absolute new 47 Fly represents the getaway for the Italian brand, who since its inception in 2003 have seen its client and fan base featuring an interesting growth.  During the initial years of the brand the smallest model was the 25, and now today it is the 47, which is even larger then the flagship model of the beginnings which was the 45.  This new 47 Fly replaces the 45 and although part of the Flybridge range from Absolute is an interesting cross model, as it takes in looks and ideas a few features from the Navetta range.  The three double cabins two bathrooms lower deck layout for example is similar to that of the Navetta 48, with the cross-layout of the owners stateroom forward having a lot of similarities, with the extra beam and length of the later offering that bit of extra space.  The 48 Navetta here features a difference having the choice of a crew cabin aft.  The 47 Fly as all recent Absolute features an astern galley layout, while the flybridge looks to be one of the largest in its size.  The Absolute 47 Fly looks bigger then it is thanks to a lot of vertical use of space.  The Absolute 47 Fly is powered by Volvo's new 480hp with twin IPS pod drives propulsion.

Project: Beneteau Gran Turismo 32

With the project of the Gran Turismo 32, Beneteau and Italian designer Andreani rethink the nine meter sport cruiser with some clever touches of space usage.  This a sport cruiser made to please boaters looking for an innovative no compromise use of space layout with huge rethinking going into the outside space.  For example outside the Gran Turismo 32, feels a sport cruiser but when you start moving around it has the feel of a walk around with easy movement between the aft and fore deck, thanks to an asymmetrical layout, and an opening glass to starboard side which makes fore deck connection easy.  Below the Gran Turismo 32 feature a wal-nut finished interior sleeping four in a traditional two plus two layout; convertible dinette to V-berth forward, and a midships cabin.  Also it is important to point out to the spaciousness of the shower head located to starboard which features a separate shower cubicle.  But the surprises of the Beneteau Gran Turismo 32 does not stop here and beside the innovation of space usage outside, the success of this model might come from the fact that it is available in both inboards with stern drives, and or outboard powered engines.

Project: Dominator Ilumen 42m Tri Deck

Dominator apparently will announce the sale for the Ilumen 42m Tri Deck its new flagship in the upcoming Cannes 2019 boat show.  The Dominator Ilumen 42m Tri Deck continues the evolution of the now fully dedicated upwards of 24 meters super yacht builder, and come from a design of Alberto Mancini, the designer responsible for all the Ilumen range.  The Ilumen 42m Tri Deck is set to be delivered in 2020, and is a triple deck super yacht with a hard top sun deck, and fast semi displamcent hull with bulb.  The Ilumen range was introduced in 2014 and from a unique model in the line up, has since then taken over the Dominator range.  This is a bit of a pity as I think the Dominator range of high quality semi custom motor and super yachts from nineteen to 25 meters did have a special place in the market.

A raised center-line command station gives the captain excellent sight lines and is equipped with a fiberglass, or optional teak helm pod, power-assist hydraulic steering with stainless steel wheel and Palm Beach style controls.  Viking’s Palm Beach Towers can outfit the 38 Open Billfish with a custom tuna tower with a second helm and a buggy top.  Below deck, the 38 Open Billfish makes full use of its four meters plus of beam to maximize comfort and utility. Hand-finished, high-gloss teak and Amtico flooring complement an elegant climate-controlled living environment. The private head, which is conveniently located immediately to port of the companionway stairs, has a large walk-in shower with satin nickel fixtures and an attractive Corian-topped vanity with sink and storage. Forward of the head and also on the port side, the galley is fully appointed, with a Corian countertop, two-burner electric stove, microwave/convection oven, cabinet storage and under-counter drawer-style refrigeration with built-in ice maker.  Rest up in the forward stateroom, which has a lower double bunk and an upper single. There’s also a starboard-side hanging locker. A starboard-side sofa with storage can also be used as an additional bunk.  As Viking continues to develop the Billfish series, our building methods and materials have gained efficiency, which adds even more value to these boats. A modified vinylester resin is used in the entire hull skin. End-grain balsa and closed-cell foam are used as coring materials in selected areas for optimized strength and stiffness while minimizing weight. The single integral fiberglass fuel tank, sealed to the hull with resin foam, is resin infused with balsa coring on all sides for stiffness. The hull-to-deck joint is mechanically fastened every three inches and fiber-glassed inside. For ease of maintenance, each engine and other critical machinery is located beneath electrically-actuated hatches in the command deck area. The Billfish Open is designed and built with many of the same mechanical systems, components and technologies found on larger Vikings. Examples include the Delta-T engine-room ventilation system and a fire suppression system that’s automatically or manually operated and tied into the main engine and generator ignitions.  Running gear includes Class “S” pitch tolerance propellers with dynamic balancing and bronze struts, sea-cocks and rudders. The engine-room, lazarette and forward bilges are painted with Snow White Awlgrip for increased visibility and ease of maintenance. A large center-line hatch gives you quick access to the engines. The Viking 38 Open Billfish is powered with twin Cummins 550hp.

Super Yacht Nero Overturns in Genova

Super Yacht Nero has overturned during launch procedure the tenth September in mid afternoon in Genova, at the Amico and Co shipyard.  According to reports Nero overturned because of a support panel giving way during launch.  Four persons have been reported to be injured, while two have been rescued from the yacht itself.  Reports have later confirmed that the harbor master and fire service of the city have later on during the day attended the scene.
Measuring 90.1 meters Nero is build in steel by Corsair Yachts at China's Yantai Raffles shipyard, to a design from Neil Taylor, interior by Luxury Project, and Imt Marine Consultants responsible for naval architecture.  Nero was last refitted in 2016.

Project: Bluegame BGX70

Bluegame presents the project for its new flagship the BGX70, to a design of Zuccon, and engineering by Luca Santella.  This is motor sport yachting re-defined in quite a few lines, cause the Bluegame BGX 70 is really different to everything else.  From a certain view point, especially the stern the BGX 70 takes ideas from modern explorer yachts, think Sanlorenzo SX, Arcadia, and ISA Extra.  But forward and its layout re-invent everything else.  The look of the main deck and pilot station have a tug boat feel, with living amenities inside which double outside both forward and aft.  In the interior of the main deck a central pilot station features an L-shaped dinette to aft with a galley opposite to starboard.  From the living area is the access to the cabin area, and or two VIP suites located in the forward part as in the three cabin Lower Deck A configuration.  In the layout A the other half of the lower deck accessed via the large aft deck from a patio door, is all dedicated to an owners mini apartment welcoming him in a spacious lounge room, and forward of this featuring a full midships owners stateroom.  In the layouts B and C, which feature two cabins, the lower deck is all connected and will feature a C-shaped lounger in between the cabins, or two opposite settees.  In both these layouts there is a day head for guests upon descending from the stairs.  The Bluegame BGX 70 is to be powered by standard Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp engines with IPS pod drives.  The large engine option allow for top speeds up to thirty knots, with the standard giving 28 knots.

New Model: Greenline 45 Fly

Greenline will expand their range of eco-conscious motor yachts at the 2019 Cannes boat show with the introduction of the new 45 Fly. This all-new model is already proving a sales hit with 25 confirmed orders and production capacity doubling to two units per month. Delivery time is now early summer 2020.  Greenline 45 Fly is unique in its sector, both in terms of its impressive variety of propulsion options and the choice between three lower deck layout, which offer from two extremely luxurious ensuite cabins with walk-in wardrobes or a three-cabin variant with two spacious bathrooms.  Thanks to the fourth generation of Greenline’s game-changing diesel/electric/hybrid technology no boat of this size offers the quiet, emission-free sustainable boating experience that the 45 Fly does. The combination of solar panels, an in-line electric motor and inverter-charger mean that 230V AC is available at all times without the need to resort to a noisy generator.  A significant added benefit is totally silent, emission-free cruising for up to thirty nautical miles at five knots, perfect for inland navigation or approaching anchorages. The Greenline 45 Fly is equipped with domestic-standard appliances including a full-size fridge/freezer, induction hob, oven and AC sockets so there is no need to use adapters. Every Greenline model has AC power as standard and the technology works constantly to maintain a stable feed of domestic energy without needing to resort to shore power or a generator.  Volvo Penta and Yanmar engines are available and, as standard, the boat is fitted with a pair of 220hp shaft drive diesel engines but up to twin 370hp motors are available for a top speed of 25 knots. For those craving higher performance and the ease of joystick control, Volvo twin 380hp and or 440hp are available with IPS pod drives propulsion, the latter capable of 30 knots. The shaft drive and IPS hulls are built specifically for their drive-train ensuring optimum performance whichever propulsion choice is selected.  Renowned architects JandJ Design are responsible for the exterior styling and naval architecture. Though Greenline 45 Fly may have a sporty profile and beautiful lines, it is a practical and spacious cruising yacht, ideal for extended stays on the water with family and friends. Between the sheltered cockpit, comfortable fore-deck with its collapsible canopy for shade and deep, well-proportioned flybridge, guests will always be able to find their perfect corner to relax in. Options such as the transom galley with BBQ grill and sink, and the hi-lo bathing platform are practical additions, which also offer an invaluable connection to the water. Here there is also dedicated storage for water toys with the option of a hydraulic hatch to make access as easy as possible.  On board, a new partnership with lauded Italian superyacht designer Marco Casali of Too Design lends a stylish, sophisticated air to the interior filled with natural light thanks to the liberal use of glass in the superstructure.  Greenline Yachts signature aft-galley configuration links seamlessly with the cockpit and puts the cook in the heart of the action whether they’re serving outdoor areas or the expansive internal dinette.  The 45 Fly is brimming with outstanding features but the amidships master suite is the ace up its sleeve. Fitted with a king-size island bed and flooded with natural light by its large hull windows, this cabin feels as if it has come from the class above. The ensuite is big enough to incorporate a separate shower cubicle but it’s the walk-in dressing room that really sets it apart from the competition. Fitted with hanging storage, drawers, bright spotlights and a dressing table, this is a slice of luxury unheard of on a craft this size.  Incredibly, in the standard layout configuration guests in the forward VIP cabin have a similarly extravagant walk-in dressing area of their own, providing unrivalled levels of comfort for all on board.  The forward VIP has over two meters of headroom and bathes in natural light thanks to eye-level windows that align with cut-outs in the forward bulwarks for stunning views across the water. Classy round portholes at bed-level offer ventilation without the need to turn on the air-conditioning.  Alternative deck layouts sacrifice the main cabins walk-in dressing rooms in order to make space for either a small double bed or pair of bunk beds and a sizeable wardrobe; three such generous cabins are a rarity on a boat of just fourteen meters. Though up to six people can comfortably sleep aboard the 45 Fly, its safe, protected side decks and the door at the lower helm plus a bulwark gate mean it is very easy to handle as a couple or even single-handed if required.

Project: Azimut S8

The Alberto Mancini era in Azimut continues moving at a very fast pace, and here comes the S8 as a surprise project announced less to a week just before the Cannes boat show.  But this is not a project for 2020, the S8 will make its debut in the upcoming Cannes boat show, joining the other 2020 novelties; S10, Azimut 78 and Atlantis 45.  Brimming with charm, the S8 adopts the new style codes expressed by Mancini for the S sport yacht and super sport yacht collection, in which he interprets drive, modernity and sportiness in their most sophisticated and intriguing sense.  The S8 replaces the successful 77S launched in 2014, and features as latest Azimut model the exclusive combination of carbon tech with a triple Volvo IPS pod propulsion system, making her a sporty yacht equipped with leading-edge technology.  The extensive use of carbon; for flybridge, deck and platform, and the triple installation IPS propulsion system; optimized with a significant investment of resources and effort by Azimut Yachts Innovation Lab, bring with them a long series of undeniable benefits that make this model unique in the panorama of Sport Yachts, something which is the blue print of all the S range excluding the new thirty meter S10 flagship.  S8 stands out first and foremost for her unprecedented maneuverability, silence and significantly lower consumption than similar size super sport yachts. With a more compact engine room, the Azimut S8 layout is one of a kind: not only does the night area accommodate four cabins and four bathrooms, but there is also a big garage with room for two water toys; a standout feature for a super sport yacht of the size,  and a closed galley on an intermediate deck between the main and lower decks. This means that the main deck is dedicated entirely to indoor and outdoor lounge and dining areas. On this deck, designed for socializing, the same design approach has been used for both interiors and exteriors, resulting in a seamless sense of continuity.  The perfection of the layout is completed by crew quarters consisting of two cabins with access through a side door aft of the superstructure.  The interiors by Francesco Guida are available in two decor versions: Platinum and Black Pearl. Both welcoming and sophisticated, they stand out for the colors and materials used. The Black Pearl version will be the one presented at Cannes.  At technical level, many of the solutions proposed by the ECS Enhanced Cruising Solutions program have been used: active trim control, which automatically adjusts the yacht’s trim and ensures the best possible consumption efficiency; joystick driving, which maintains the course set at all speeds, guarantees comfortable, safe driving with perfect control, and provides an intuitive, user-friendly interface; and, finally, an integrated on-board control and monitoring system, which also includes an interface system with the main services, including air conditioning in the yacht’s various settings.  The Azimut S8 will be be powered by triple Volvo 1000hp with IPS pods propulsion and will reach top speeds up to 34 knots, and cruise effortless at 27 knots.

New Model: Extra Yachts 86 Fast

The new ISA Yachts Extra line which premiered in 2018 with the entry 76 model, a 24 meter explorer yacht that develops a new concept of cruising all designed by Francesco Guida has today expanded with the larger Extra 86 Fast sister.  This 26 meter super yacht can accommodate up to eight people in four cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms. The layout of the living area includes the galley situated aft which, through a large and bright window with an automatic up/down system, allows direct communication with the outdoor dining area. This modern and innovative solution allows to have a full-beam living room forward, furnished with large sofas and an extendable table, for a contemporary and refined design.  The original design of the external profile expresses the strong personality of Extra 86 Fast. It is characterized by the play of contrasts between the clear and soft fiberglass surfaces and the elegant dark windows. The sizeable seamless windows generate the feeling of being inside a large crystal dome and provide floods of light and unparalleled panoramic views to the elegant interior living.  The layout design revolves around the desire to guarantee maximum livability everywhere on board: an example is the exceptional beach club of over fifty square meters, enabling guests to have pleasure of living comfortably in contact with the sea. The cockpit is spread over three levels sloping towards the water. While at the bow a large sundeck and a comfortable sofa create a fourth relaxation area.  Access to the crew area is at bow and connects to two cabins, three beds, with the respective bathrooms.  The fly deck offers a second wheelhouse, a full-beam maxi-sundeck and a bar serving a living area with a C-shaped sofa, to fully enjoy from an elevated position long and pleasant crossings or convivial lunches at anchor. The Extra 86 Fast version is capable of reaching a maximum speed of over 30 knots thanks to triple Volvo 1000hp engines.  To follow the Extra 86 Fast, in August ISA will launch also the new Extra 93, followed by the Extra 130 Alloy aluminum model.

Project: VanDutch 56

VanDutch present the project for a new 56 set to replace the 55. Outside very little has changed but the 56 might have a slightly longer windscreen.  The most visible changes will come in the cockpit deck, which now will feature a wet-bar to starboard, while the two L-shaped settees stay but are now independent and do not integrate with the forward settees.  Another difference will come in the helm station now featuring a glass station looking upright.  The lower deck layout will offer more flexibility now available in four different versions; Lounge and Daybed, Lounge and Master Cabin, Secondary Sleeper and Daybed, and Secondary Sleeper and Master Cabin.  These layouts vary from a very open area sleeping two, to a two cabin version which sleeps four.   All versions have one head, and a galley and dinette in between the cabins or between to the lounge areas.  The VanDutch 56 is to be powered by twin Volvo 900hp with shaft drives delivering top speeds up to 38 knots.

New Model: Absolute Navetta 68

Absolute continue to expand and with this new 68, the fifth model in the Navetta range which today expands from 48 to the 73 flagship model.  The Navetta 68 is also Absolute third in size model, and sees the North Italian brand make an important presence above the twenty meter size, filling the gap between the 62 and 73 models, and offering a slightly smaller alternative to the flagship in a similar four cabin layout.  There is a lot of things to like, but its four cabin layout seems really coming from a motor yacht about two meters larger.  But do not be mistaken the Abolsute Navetta 68 is also a revolution of space and size on the main deck, and the flybridge. The 68 Navetta is also one of the few models in this class and size that has stayed true to an astern galley layout.  Performance wise the Absolute Navetta 68 is powered from twin Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp engines.  Hull one was equipped with the smaller 900hp units and delivered an interesting top speed of 25 knots and a cruise of 20.  A long range speed of ten knots gives about 600 nautical miles of autonomy, which is good but not spectacular when you have a name and the looks of an explorer yacht.

Two Injured as Boat Crashes in Garda Lake Italy

A man and woman where injured as a seven meter sport boat collided into a rocky beach near the Tower of Benaco, in the Pozzolo area of the Garda Lake, Verona at about 08:00 morning time of Wednesday fourth September.  Italian Carabinieri, Guardia Costiera, and Vigili dell Fuoco attended to the scene, as they where followed by a helicopter from the 118 squad, and two ambulance vehicles.  The 27 year old woman in yellow code was taken to a clinic in Pederazoli, while the thirty year old man was helicopter transported to a hospital in Trento.  Ultimately the cuddy cabin sport cruiser was transported to a nearby boat yard.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The boat in this collision is an A. Mostes Venere 23.4 as produced in the late nineties.  The Venere 23.4 was a replacement to the 24 Venere, and was replaced by the 25 Venere.

Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane season has arrived and it seems to have started with a blast.  Dorian was the first major hurricane of 2019, and started to form in August 24 first as Tropical storm, and then moving to Lesser Antilles in August 28 and developing as a hurricane.  On August 31 Dorian became category four, and the day after it reached category five, reaching sustained winds of 185 mph, and a low pressure of 910 millibars.  After reaching category five Dorian slowed down not little remaining nearly stationery on Abaco Islands and the Grand Bahamas island from September 1 to 3, causing extensive damage to the islands, with the high sustained winds, storm surge, and heavy rain fall.  At least thirty people are reported to be death by the havoc of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas, with thousands of homes destroyed.  Reports are also saying that every single marina in the Grand Bahamas has been destroyed.  Dorian is now directed to Florida though the hurricane has decreased to a Category two.

Propulsion: Volvo DPI

Volvo introduces the new DPI stern drive a replacement to the DPH stern drive in powering the D4 and D6 engines.  The new DPI stern drive is designed around joystick maneuverability with enhanced hydraulic clutch which enables slipping at slow speeds, and full electronic steering.  Servicing has also been improved with seals now being designed for a longer life and interval change of every two years up from a year.
