2 People 1 Dog Rescued After Tiara Boat Ends Aground in Marblehead

A nine meter Tiara sportfish cruiser with two persons onboard and a dog ended aground on the new entrance of West Harbor in Marblehead, Ohio, on the night of Saturday 21 September.  The US Coastguard Station Marblehead responded to this collision and went immediately to the scene with a vessel and five crew, rescuing the two crew and the dog.  The causes of this collision and eventual grounding are under investigation by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, although according to some boaters visibility was very restricted on the night of the accident.
The Tiara boat in this grounding is a second generation 3100 Open as produced from 1992 to 2004. The second generation Tiara 3100 Open was a complete make over the original 1979 to 91 version with a new hull design which also included propeller tunnels.  The 3100 Open mark.2 was replaced by the 3200 Open in 2004.
