Bob Roscioli owner of one of South Florida's most well-known shipyards, died Monday 27 July 2020 from Covid-19 complications. Bob Roscioli was 78 years old, founder of namesake Fort Lauderdale boating businesses Roscioli Yachting Center and Roscioli Donzi Yachts which produces custom sportfish yachts from 58 to 92 feet in an offer of thirteen models. Bob Roscioli was hospitalized for more than a week before his death. He was a decades-long presence in the marine industry after launching his career as an apprentice in 1962. Roscioli was known to offer opportunities to anyone ready for hard work, and would often hire veterans and former prisoners. Roscioli began his career as a painter, using brushes to painstakingly color entire vessels before developing a novel spray-painting technique. When he was 20, he was fired for asking his employer for a raise, but this was a catalyst for his career and instead of quitting the marine business, he kept working on his own and eventually secured a few big clients. Eventually, he brokered a deal to lease space for his own business. Bob Roscioli is survived by Sharon, his wife of 51 years; his children, Robert and Heather; and three grandchildren.

Within the interior, as with each Bayliss build, one large teak log was utilized for all veneers in order to ensure grain consistency. Among her interior features, the salon contains two custom Bayliss air actuated television lifts and a custom U-shaped sofa. The striking leather-finish “Persian Caramel” granite installed throughout the upper and lower levels easily compliments the teak veneers on the surrounding cabinetry. The galley features two SubZero refrigerators, one SubZero freezer, a Miele speed oven and cook-top, and a Hoshizaki ice maker. Project: Princess X80
Following in the wake of the successful launch of the X95, Princess announce a new addition to the X-range. Due to take to the water next year, the X80 becomes the second member of the X Class ‘Superfly’ family. The Princess X80, follows the X95 concept defined by large, adaptable spaces offering flexible accommodation. Yet again, Princess is boldly re-writing the rules of yacht design and architecture by incorporating the concept of a ‘super flybridge’ featuring extensive outdoor space, offering the owner and guests a real al fresco living opportunity. The X80 has been painstakingly designed to offer the most versatile and accommodating experience, while keeping design and style at the forefront. Princess long-standing partner, Olesinski, has again partnered with Italian design heavyweights Pininfarina to create the ultimate in yacht design. Following the sophisticated sculpted surfaces and long flowing lines of the X95, the X80 represents a striking design concept whilst at the same time maintaining the well respected and internationally recognized classic Princess design language. Over recent years there has been a quiet revolution in the methods used to design a Princess hull. Years of experience building fast and seaworthy hulls are now complemented by cutting edge simulation techniques . For the X80, this approach has led to efficiencies across the speed range whilst ensuring the high levels of sea-keeping and predictable handling. Fitted with twin Man 1900hp the X80 will reach speeds up to thirty knots. The stature of the X80 profile is defined through the increased height of the bulwarks, topsides and enclosed wheelhouse. Her ‘S’ shaped canopy flows into the flybridge deck to balance the visual weight and disguise the volume of the expansive sky lounge. The X80 brings the outside in through the maximization of glazing which flows along the entire length of the main deck encasing the saloon, galley and forward dining area. The use of light and innovative design continues below decks where 8 guests are accommodated across four cabins, a full beam master stateroom located amidships, a forward guest stateroom, a double guest to starboard and a twin cabin to port. Located aft of the main accommodation is the crew quarters which can accommodate three crew with the standard layout.

Project: Invictus TT460
Invictus keeps growing and presents the new TT460, a fourteen meter sport cruiser designed by Chistian Grande which is to be the Italian shipyard’s new flagship and will be launched this summer. The taut, essential lines are typical of Invictus hulls, in which style and attention to performance are combined: the new TT460 is equipped with twin Volvo 480hp couple to IPS650 forward looking pod propulsion. The characterizing element of the new Invictus TT460 is the elegant style of the windscreen, from the bow to amidships, which blends seamlessly with the carbon hardtop and further enhances the size of this center console sport cruiser. The deck, which includes a comfortable walkway on its perimeter, has a large sundeck in the bow with a flush-seat at the edge. Amidships, the dinette tables can be folded back to make room for a second sundeck, shaded by the hardtop. In the same position, the topsides can be equipped with two fold-able platforms, which increase the living space onboard. Teak wood can be laid on the stern swim platform and on the whole deck. A hydraulic moving device can be added to help swimmers climb back aboard and to manage the tender, which is an unusual feature on this type of yacht. Invictus has given owners plenty of opportunities to customize the interiors, ranging from an open-space solution with a transformable double bed in the stern and a lounge area in the bow, to the inclusion of partitions to divide areas and increase privacy. “Personalization” is the keyword when focusing on finishes and details: there are plenty of colours and types of upholstery to choose from the Atelier Invictus, so owners can configure their boat to satisfy their needs and according to their personal taste. The Atelier Invictus also offers its customers a network of specialized craftsmen and highly qualified suppliers. Customers are therefore followed from the early stages of purchase and guided through a true virtual laboratory, in which the boat is designed with individual material inserts and equipment. This allows to customize an industrially produced boat, so that it expresses the owner’s personality, style and tastes.

Sportfish Collides and Sinks Fishing Boat at Montauk Inlet, New York
A sportfish cruiser of twelve meters in length titled Chaos collided and then sank a commercial fishing boat titled Petrel of about the same length outside of Mantauk Inlet, New York at around 06:30 morning time of Saturday eighteen July. Two persons were on the commercial fishing boat and three persons on the sportfish as the boats collided due to poor visibility of less to thirty meters in dense fog. The US Coast Guard assisted the after collision as a Sea Tow boat followed the sportfish boat as precaution due to possible water entry from the damage at the bow. The captain and crew of the commercial fishing boat jumped in the water on impact. The captain also suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and was released after treatment. East Hampton Town police charged the operator of the sportfishing boat with reckless operation. A salvage operation was being organized to re-float the commercial fishing boat which sank in about twenty meters of deep water.
The sportfish cruiser in this accident is a Cabo 40 Flybridge as designed by Michael Peters and produced from 2004 to 2008. The 40 Flybridge was replaced by the Cabo 38 Flybridge.
New Model: Maiora 35 Exuma
Following the great rewarded success of the Maiora 36 Harmony and 30 Walkaround, Gruppo Fipa presents a brand-new 2020 model: the 35 Exuma. This new 35 meters super yacht features impressive and innovative solutions in order to provide all the guests with an unforgettable cruising and living experience on board. Refreshing light that embraces all spaces harmoniously, excellent maneuverability, amazing low draft for shallow waters, smooth cruising, as well as total privacy guaranteed for everyone: this is what you find on board 35 Exuma. In this unique work, Fipa Maiora meets the demanding and challenging requirements of the client and the result is a super personal motor yacht with a helm station located at the bow of the main deck: this is an exclusive area for the Captain that can be easily reached from his accommodation. You will find the other helm station, completely redundant, on the well-designed flybridge. The Maiora 35 Exuma is designed for an experienced seaman who loves the sea-life and cruising for long journey. This perfect solution allows the owner to leave the control-station whenever he wants to, just to take some time for himself and enjoy the beautifully-sized saloon located on the upper convertible flybridge. The huge drop down windows, as well as the stern door which totally opens up and “disappears”, turn a closed space, where you can comfortably have lunch, into a completely open area where you can enjoy a cocktail at the golden hour or have dinner with family and guests under the stars, thanks to the sliding “moon-roof”. The interiors of Maiora 35 Exuma are sober and elegant, in order to reflect the style of her Owner: wengè, walnut, oak wood meet with their different shades to create an incisive and intense contrast. You will experience a sophisticated atmosphere also thanks to the glossy grey and absolute black laquer that feature the galley; while matt darker laquer of grey stone tones are used for both crew and master heads. The wide main salon is largely enriched by a unique piece of furniture: it is a superb slate cellar placed at the entrance and aimed to preserve bottles of wine and the owner’s precious tequila collection. This really gives a touch of uniqueness. The outside areas are featured by Paola Lenti furniture that harmonically come together with the open-air spaces and al-fresco aft cockpit. Maiora 35 Exuma can accommodate up to eleven guests: the master stateroom is on the main deck and is featured by a floor-to-ceiling wide window. Four cabins are located on the lower deck, including another shipowner’s cabin placed longitudinally to enjoy the sight at its best. To finish the lower deck layout, two double bed cabins and a double cabin with pullman berth: all these cabins are equipped with TV which comfortably fold down from the ceilings and all the beds are strategically placed to offer the best sight of the sea, thanks to the large windows inside the cabins. Finally, the crew quarters can accommodate up to five members. Maiora 35 Exuma is powered by two MJP waterjets and a central booster jet, powered by three Caterpillar 1925hp engines. The combination of the waterjet propulsion and the innovative design of the hull allow to reach a top speed of 35 knots in total comfort and with no vibrations on board. Cruising is extremely efficient up to 28-30 knots, while at the economical speed of 10 knots, the 35 Exuma has an impressive range of about 1600 nautical miles, with a fuel capacity of 22,000 litres. Despite the great performances, absolute comfort is always guaranteed by two Seakeeper 35 gyroscopic stabilizers, designed to reduce the rolling of the ship up to 95%, both underway and at anchor. In addition, the owner asked to extend the concept of comfort also to the toys: placing the garage on one side makes extremely easy the launch of a six meter tender. It is unusual to find a big tender on a 35 meter super yacht. The Owner, in this way, can easily reach exclusive beaches or take his guests to the harbor without any problem. The crew has a dedicated four meter tender for their own service. The Maiora 35 Exuma resembles the super yacht for those who want to enjoy the sun and the on-board life in long distance cruises, have fun, discover wonderful places and hidden landscapes. Thanks to a draft of less then two meters she is ideal to explore the waters and beaches of Cat Island, Abacos, Paradise Island and, indeed, Exumas. Maiora 35 Exuma has just been launched this July 2020, and will first cruise the Mediterranean, before heading to the Bahamas.

Flybridge Cruiser Falls Off Trailer in Farmingdale, New York
A flybridge cruiser of eight meters in length capsized to its port side and fell from its trailer in the middle of Hempstead Turnpike near Merritt's Road, Farmingdale, New York at around 15:00 of Tuesday fourteen July. Nassau police, Farmingdale Fire Department and South Farmingdale Fire Department units tended to the accident, as the flybridge cruiser also had a gas spill with some of this ending into a storm drain. For this the Nassau County Fire Marshal Hazardous Materials unit had to be called. For over an hour Hempstead Turnpike road was closed, creating an over one mile long blocked traffic lane. A heavy duty tow truck was called to up-right the boat. No injuries were reported, with the cause of the capsizing not being reported.
Project: Evo Yachts Velar 78
In December 2019, designer Valerio Rivellini launched a new concept for a stunningly innovative 70 foot yacht that also incorporates the strengths of a sailboat. This concept has been transformed into a working project through synergy between the designer’s desire to break free of convention and the strategic vision and construction capabilities of Evo Yachts, the Blue Emme Yachts brand that has built a reputation on the market both for its range of open yachts with “XTension” bulwarks and for its tenders. In partnership, they developed Rivellini’s Velar 70 concept and transformed it into the Velar 78, with content and dimensions that make it a better fit for the shipyard’s development plans. Velar 78 is a 24 meter explorer motor yacht with a refined, minimalist design created for a leisurely and relaxed lifestyle at sea. It is a yacht that defies classification, combining the strengths of both motor yachts and sailboats. Velar 78 goes beyond the expected. The big yacht wheel gives the owner the sensation of captaining a sailboat, while the helm station in the deck house offers a protected alternative out of the elements, equipped with a joystick drive that is perfect for complicated maneuvering or in rough seas and replaces the wheel, like on an aircraft. The glazed surfaces in the deck house are designed to disappear completely out of view, turning the boat into a pure open with T-top. Velar 78 is a yacht for owners who want to experience the thrill of travel in a new but yet traditional way, mindful of reduced consumption and eco-sustainability. The keywords are contemplation, sharing and convenience. This model therefore represents the first step in a new direction of innovation and real progress, as well as a confirmation of the successful partnership between the shipyard and the designer. Evo Yachts and Valerio Rivellini are back at work together after creating high profile models like the multiple award winning R4, R6, and T2 tender. With the Velar 78, on which construction work recently began and will be completed in early 2021, Evo Yachts adds a new series, the Velar line, to expand the existing range: the R-Line, with the R4, R4WA and R6 models, and the T-line with the T2 and, coming soon, the T3 model.

Sport Yacht Fire in Gouvia Marina Corfu
A sport yacht of about sixteen meters in length caught fire in Gouvia Marina on the Greek island of Corfu, on the evening of thirteen July. Fire fighters from both the pier and the sea tried to turn off and slow the fire, with moderate success. The sixteen meter sport yacht eventually partially sank, with no injuries reported from the fire since the boat was unattended at the moment of the fire. The sport yacht was later fully floated.
The sport yacht in this fire is a Prinz 54 Coupe which debuted in 2006. A Belgium boat builder, Prinz was founded in 2001 offering 31 to 40 open and fly models, with the company closing its doors in 2008. Eventually one of the employees in its Croatian factory bought the moulds and re-branded the company as Pearlsea Yachts and restored production.
New Model: Nordhavn 41
Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. announces the launch of the first Nordhavn 41. Hull #1 splashed in the Aegean Sea last week and will commence with seatrials this week. She will undergo other testing before being prepared to ship in mid-July. The first hull will be delivered to her buyer in the northeast U.S. Currently 14 the of the first 20 hulls have been reserved, sight unseen, pointing to the design’s broad appeal. What’s more, the boat is drawing on a truly international base with buyers coming from all over the globe including America, Turkey, Denmark, South Africa and Australia. Additionally, of the first five hulls completed, two will cruise right out of Turkey, taking advantage of Nordhavn’s offer to allow buyers to spend time cruising the Mediterranean before shipping the boat to their home port, with Nordhavn handling shipping logistics. Upon the Nordhavn’s 41 arrival to the East coast, the Nordhavn’s vice president Jim Leishman and Chief of Design Jeff Leishman, will fly from CA to inspect her. The Nordhavn 41 is the smallest boat in ocean-crossing line-up. She has a range of three thousand nautical miles and an anticipated cruise speed of around seven knots. She succeeds the N40, Nordhavn’s previous smallest couple’s passage maker, of which 69 hulls were built. The Nordhavn 40 is celebrated for setting the world record for fastest circumnavigation made by a production power boat.

Project: Wim Van Der Valk BeachClub 660 Convertible
Wim Van der Valk ride the wave of success of its BeachClub range, which was launched in 2019 with the 600 and 660 models, and now reveal the Convertible project for the range. The BeachClub concept, which has received lots of great press over the past year as well as several awards, come from the idea of freeing up living space. This has clearly struck a chord with motor yacht fans the world over with a BeachClub 600 Hard Top already delivered to Lake Michigan and a BeachClub 660 Fly to Palma. Now, with several other models under construction, Van der Valk is increasing its options by unveiling an all-new design for a BeachClub 660 Convertible. Seriously, there’s nothing else like this on the market today. This exciting addition to the BeachClub fleet is a unique concept for a number of reasons. For a start, it has easily the most spacious interior available in her class. Moreover, as the BeachClub 660 Convertible will be built in super-flexible aluminium, you have an unrivaled range of options for the design, from a fully closed-off wheelhouse to the number of accommodations. For instance, you can choose to have three or four cabins, with six to eight berths and two or three bathrooms. Other interior highlights include a crew cabin, a large galley with an American fridge and a day head for guests. Apart all this the BeachClub 660 Convertible features an incredible amount of outdoor deck space too. Living very much up to its name, the beach club and aft terrace are extraordinary and you have the option to have a garage for a five-person tender. Another area to lay out according to your wishes is the fabulous fore-deck. Depending on choice the Wim Van der Valk BeachClub 660 can have top speeds up to 37 knots, this reached with twin Volvo 1000hp engines couple to forward looking IPS pod drives. The special patented hull shape makes the BeachClub 660 Convertible a seaworthy yacht with superior levels of comfort even in four meter high waves.

Ferretti Yachts New Web Site
Ferretti Yachts presents its new World wide web virtual showroom. Ferretti started up in 1968 with brothers Norberto and Alessandro expanding their car selling business into boat and yacht selling representing Chris Craft first, and Italcraft and Sanlorenzo brands dealership a year later. Three years after this in 1971 Ferretti present their first boat a ten meter motor sailor build in a collaboration with Franchini of wood, who also designs the boat. In 1980 Ferretti start the work to enter into motor boating, which leads to the Altura 38 Estate Day as designed by racing legend Fabio Buzzi for hull and Pusceddu doing exterior interior, and debuting in 1982. A year later the Estate 38 is added with the Estate Flying Bridge and Roadster hard-top versions. After a total of twelve models from the nine meter Meneghino to the nineteen meter Altura 61 the last Ferretti sail boat was build in 1988, and showed the innovation with the company pioneering the raised saloon style, and today having a following in the used brokerage market. After a total switch from sail to power the scope of Ferretti of innovation, quality and bigger boats takes a new step and in 1987 it builds its first yacht over fifty foot with the 52 Altura, this is superseded with the Altura 58 in 1991, and the 225 Fly in 1993, and leads into 1997 when Ferretti enters into eighty foot plus super yacht size with the 80 model. In 1989 Ferretti launches its Engineering department, followed a year later with the entry of Giovanni Zuccon as lead designer from Pusceddu, his first design being the 54 model later renamed to 175 Fly and 60 produced till 1997. From there onward Ferretti and Zuccon worked together non stop till 2017 with all the models of the Forli company designed by the renowned Italian designer. In 1996 Ferretti founded Custom Line, with the aim of building bigger super yachts outside the Forli and Cattolica factories, with the first 94 model launching in 1998. From 2018 onward the new Ferretti designer is Filippo Salvetti who has designed the latest new four models; 670, 720, 500 and 1000. The largest Ferretti build to date is the 1000, to be launched this year, while under the Ferretti Custom Line the flagship is the Navetta 42. The Ferretti Custom Line was the catalyst for the company to form Ferretti Group in 1996 onward which today features eight very important and signature distinctive Italian brands. Ferretti innovative spirit has always been part of its DNA and over the years the Italian brand has made important World firsts which have changed motor boating not only to the Italian company but also to all the boating World. Innovations like the pivoting patio door window system which fully connected exterior and interior main decks this appearing first on the Altura 38 Estate Flying Bridge in 1983, the first tender garage debuting with the Altura 35 Portorotondo in 1984, the extended integrated bathing platform with tender storage on the Altura 46/49 arriving in 1984, and the Anti Rolling Gyro developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi in 2004. Project: Antonini UP40 Crossover
Antonini Navi presents UP40 Crossover, the first of three models based on the UP40 modular steel platform that allows the concept and type of yacht to be decided during the construction process. Like the upcoming models, Motoryacht and Sport Explorer, Crossover has been designed in collaboration with multiple award-winning architect and designer Fulvio De Simoni. Like all the boats produced by the shipyard, UP40 rossover, on which construction work will begin in September, will have a clean, balanced and innovative design. Two main decks are connected by a half-deck containing the single helm station. Static and dynamic testing of the hull, hull lines and appendages was performed at the Marin Maritime Research Institute in the Netherlands, simulating sea-keeping in up to extreme navigation conditions. The generous free boards have flowing lines and the cut of the bow is contemporary in style. The exterior areas can be furnished in various ways and an infinity pool can also be installed in the bow area on this model, creating a full-fledged solarium that is pleasantly airy both at anchor and when cruising. UP40 Crossover is available in two versions, a fully Open Deck model designed for cruising in Mediterranean climates, plus an Enclosed Bridge version with a superstructure that covers part of the Upper Deck and features extensive glazed surfaces, offering a 360-degree view of the horizon. In this case, the owner’s suite can have a surface area of over 60 square meters and a private terrace. The external bow area can, of course, accommodate a table for fresco dining and a sunbathing area. There are up to four double cabins for guests on the Lower Deck, sleeping a total of ten people, while five cabins are set aside for the crew. The new model from Antonini Navi will also have two tenders: the first, seven meters long, is housed in the stern hangar for easy launch and recovery, while the second measuring almost four meters in length is stowed forward for use by the crew, with a recessed winched integrated in the gunwale. The big fuel tanks and a special focus on efficient cruising deliver a range of over 5000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Top speed is about 15 knots and cruising speed is 12 knots.

New Model: Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy
Sanlorenzo launch the much waited 44 Alloy in a perfect combination of craftsmanship, innovation, experience and passion. The Italian motor and super yacht builder continues its unstoppable progress by demonstrating once again that nautical design is a creative, exciting and versatile world in continuous evolution, capable of generating unexpected proposals with the aim of offering the highest quality of life on board. This is the idea behind the new Sanlorenzo 44 Alloy superyacht, a 44 meter long fast displacement model, entirely in aluminium, which thanks to its unprecedented layout and maximum indoor-outdoor takes the concept of livability to new heights. The owner’s cabin, the conceptual fulcrum of the project, is conceived as a private apartment of 145 square meters divided into three levels, with indoor and outdoor zones, in a solution never seen before on a super yacht of this size. The 44 Alloy conserves the elegant, balanced style and fluid that have always set the brand apart, while offering surprising spaces for the owner as well as guests, such as the large beach club that opens on three sides, providing direct connection to the sea, while the fore-deck, with its open area, offers multiple possibilities of use. The new 44 Alloy is a true conceptual update of the prize-winning 40 Alloy, the forty meter long aluminium super yacht famous in 2007 for introducing fold-out terraces in the owner’s zone, its gull-wing doors on the bridge, its remarkable performance and commercial success, with ten yachts build by the Liguria yacht builder. A completely new concept and project developed by the Sanlorenzo team, relying on the creativity of the studio Zuccon International Project, with the personal contribution of Bernardo Zuccon, for the design of the external lines and the definition of the concept in a layout never seen before, which has no equals on the market for yachts of this size. The interior design of the 44 Alloy has been formulated in the first unit under construction by Zuccon International Project, with the refined taste and delicate choices of Martina Zuccon. The second yacht has interiors by the Florence-based architect Michele Bonan, while the third unit will bear the signature of the French architecture firm Liaigre, reflecting the flexibility, eclecticism and internationalism of the Sanlorenzo shipyard.

New Model: Galeon 400 Fly
Galeon has in early 2020 launched its new 400 Fly model. Another model of what the Polish builder calls its fourth-generation family, the 400 Fly is one of the smallest flybridge cruisers to offer the innovative beach mode. Designed by Tony Castro the 400 Fly offers maneuverability and stability on the waves, while the interior comes in a few possible modern variants, with additional options available upon request. Wellcraft Grounded in Malta
A Wellcraft sport cruiser of about eight meters in length finished aground on Saturday 5 July afternoon, after breaking free from its swing mooring in Qawra, on the island of Malta. This resulted in the cruiser being carried by the strong winds and currents of about thirty knots, for about a nautical mile from its swing mooring berth in Qawra, and finishing aground in the Salina area. The Wellcraft Excel sport cruiser stood in the scene for a few days, as its position made salvage operation rather difficult to make.
The Wellcraft in this accident is an Excel 26SE as produced from 1996 to the end of the nineties.
Project: Delta Marine 21m
Newport-based MCM has been appointed as owner’s representative for a 21-metre express cruiser to be built by custom shipyard Delta Marine in Seattle. The Express Cruiser designed by Doug Zurn of Zurn Yacht Design for an experienced client will be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives with Dynamic Positioning System for a top speed up to 38 knots. When going through the yard selection process, MCM looked at shipyards in the US, Europe and Australasia, but finally settled on Delta Marine as one of very few custom Superyacht yards left in the US. An added advantage was that Jack Jones, the company founder, had started out in the sixties as a composite builder of high-speed pleasure craft. Yacht designer Doug Zurn in Massachusetts is well known for his classic New England style and the 21 meter traditional inspired down East express displays traditional exterior lines and an interior decor based on a contemporary take of raised and fielded mahogany wood joinery with white wainscoting details. The classic styling, however, disguises a thoroughly modern and lightweight hull construction using infused epoxy, E-glass and Corecell/Airex for a displacement at half load of just over thirty tonnes. Comfort at anchor and under way are provided by Seakeeper gyro stabilisers and Humphree interceptors with active stabilization. The owner will use his new yacht for cruising and fishing with family and friends, and to this end the aft deck has a modular design to fulfill both functions. Below deck there is accommodation for six guests in an ensuite owner’s cabin and two cabins with shared head. The hull and deck tooling is currently underway at the shipyard and completion is envisaged for the second half of 2021.
