An eleven meter Sea Ray sport cruiser with ten persons onboard went ablaze near New Buffalo Harbor, Lake Michigan at about noon of Tuesday 21 July 2020. The boaters were rescued by a nearby boater with US Coast Guard coming afterward to the assistance, and were later assisted by New Buffalo Police and New Buffalo Township with three firefighters. An attempt to tow the boat was made, but ultimately dropped as the wreck sunk. The boaters later reported that the fire was started in the engine room. No one was injured in the accident.
The boat in this fire is a Sea Ray 390 Express Cruiser as produced from 1984 to 1991. The 390 Express Cruiser was replaced by the Sea Ray 400 Express Cruiser.
