Project: Azimut Fly 62

Azimut present the Fly 62 project, what will feature an innovative take on the beach club in a flybridge motor yacht, and goes against those who look at extending the sides.  As is usual Azimut does things its way and looks astern, to offer a fresh take on the family loving flybridge motor yacht. Azimut is not new to beach clubs, its 2012 debutante 55S had a beach extendable aft platform, and its new Seadeck range which just launched its 6 model is build around the beach club concept, but somehow its innovative flybridge motor yachts has remained rather conservative astern. This new Fly 62 changes this with what Azimut calls its Beach Cockpit version, a transformative aft deck which redefines the category with a forward facing lounge settee which drops down and transforms to a sun-pad looking aft a couple of foot above sea water level. Designed by Alberto Mancini, the Fly 62 is a replacement to one of Azimut's most successful models of recent times the seven years produced 60 Flybridge, and here we see the Italian designer follow his horizontal, soft and clean modern lines, with a hard-top and flybridge.  The designer take on horizontal lines also moves the super structure forward, although in these renderings its looks less so then to other models.  Mancini also presents an angular hard-top giving the Fly 62 a more masculine look, but also a familiar design to that of the larger Grande models.  For the interiors of the Fly 62, Azimut has chosen Fabio Fantolino his second job for the famous Italian brand following his 2023 debut with the Fly 72.  The Azimut Fly 62 is to be powered by twin Volvo 900hp with IPS pod drives for speeds up to 32 knots, World first upcoming the first half of September in Cannes.

Project: Holterman X-95

Holterman reveals the striking X-95, a brand new model sixty years in the making, which the Dutch semi-custom yacht builder offers a tantalizing glimpse at a brand new addition to its brilliantly crafted Xtreme range of yachts which began with the concept for the multi-award-winning 33-metre X-105 Lady Fleur, launched in 2022. After several years of development, the Xtreme range has grown to include the X-54, X-65 and X-78 Sport and Fly. The new yacht project, the X-95 offers the ultimate bridge between the semi-custom sub-24-metre Xtremes and the finesse and fire of the innovative X-105. The philosophy behind the X-95 is simple, to create the very best yacht possible at thirty meters. The result is a triumph of design, style, function and form, with an all-aluminum build and performance predicted at 22 to 24 knots, plus a design feature that will enable the X-95 to carry one of the largest tenders in its size bracket. Central to the X-95’s development has been the shipyard’s straight forward approach to design and engineering, capitalizing on the heritage it has built since its founding in 1964. The resulting concept, which will be built to Class rather than the recreational CE mark, is, says Weel, the perfect size with the perfect features for cruising the Mediterranean and beyond. The styling shares the same DNA as the rest of the Xtreme line, drawing on the distinctive, highly sculptural lines of the X-105 which have been shared across the range. Other features will include a luxurious and light owner’s suite forward on the main deck that will lead out to a private owner terrace on the bow, a raised pilothouse design accessed via steps from the saloon, which itself will offer extraordinary levels of space as it will be a full-beam saloon with large glass panels on each side, plus an expansive sundeck that can be outfitted to cater to all indulgences, including the addition of a spa pool. Guest accommodation on the lower deck will comprise four spacious en-suite cabins.  A proven and reliable double shaft engine setup will power the X-95 delivering excellent performance, and for maximum maneuverability powerful bow and stern thrusters are installed. The model will also be future-proofed with an exhaust treatment system that meets IMO Tier III standards. Range is predicted to be in the region of 1,800 nautical miles at a mid-cruise of around fifteen knots. As Weel and the shipyard finalize the design, one thing is clear that the X-95 will stand as another milestone in Holterman’s extraordinary history as the yard celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2024. Alongside the avantgarde styling and innovative features, the X-95 encapsulates the core ethos of the shipyard, which puts technical competence, build quality and customer requests at the center of everything it does.
