Fairline Yacht Ends Aground Near Fajardo, Puerto Rico

An eighteen meter Fairline sport yacht titled Dakiti with fifteen persons onboard ended aground near Isleta Marina in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on the night of Monday ninth March.  US Coast Guard sector San Juan received the call for assistance with Customs and Border Protection, Puerto Rico Police Joint Forces of Rapid Action marine unit, and Sea Tow Puerto Rico responding.  Sea Tow removed the boaters; thirteen passengers, one crew and a captain, who then handed them over to the Customs and Border Protection who transported them to Villa Marina in Fajardo.  The vessel was reported to have breached its hull in the bow, and one passenger reported minor injuries, and was treated on the scene.   A plan to remove the yacht is underway, this starting by removing the about eight hundred litres of fuel onboard.  The cause of the grounding is not reported.
The yacht in this accident is a Fairline Targa 62 Gran Turismo as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2002 to 2006.  The Targa 62 Gran Turismo was released as new flagship to Fairline Targa range, with the model replaced by the Targa 64 Gran Turismo.
