Pearl has announced the project for a new 63 model. The 63 is a replacement to the 62, and comes from the long standing Pearl design collaboration of Bill Dixon for exteriors and interiors by Kelly Hoppen. In reality the 63 is a soft evolution of the 62, recognizable by the hull glazing being that bit larger and adding the option of fold down balconies to both port and starboard sides for extending the space in the aft cockpit. There is also other small changes to the optional hard-top, and the added option of a tender garage in replacement to the crew cabin aft, while the saloon has also been changed with the dinette now moved in-front of the astern galley rather then opposite of the saloon as in the 62. For the accommodation plan the Pearl 63 unique features that marked the 62 are again repeated of offering a four cabins layout in eighteen meters of overall length, with none of these being bunk, and having a dedicated private entrance to the midships master stateroom. The Pearl 63 will be IPS propulsion only with Volvo engines starting from twin 800 to 1000hp.

New Model: Bimax Alchimia 32
Bimax made a lot of news in 2021 when it debuted its Alchimia 28 with its innovative Eco Drive System, a forward looking shaft system which eliminates the hump at those intermediate slow planning speeds and give better efficiency. The Bimax Alchimia 28 is now followed by a larger Alchimia 32 sister, which offers more space and a modern aggressive look. For those that know Bimax, the Alchimia 32 is based on the previous Diamond 32 model, with a revised exterior and the patented propulsion of the smaller 28 now also featured in the larger flagship model. The Bimax Alchimia 32 offers a four berth accommodation plan, in the usual sport cruiser plan of a V-shape saloon forward which becomes a double berth, and two berths at midships, with a galley to port side, and a shower head to starboard. The Bimax Alchimia 32 though main feature are its performances, which with a single VM Nanni diesel give it a 32 knots max speed while a cruise of 22 knots gives it a consumption of just 1.6 litres per nautical mile.

Classic Bayliner Ends Aground in Sandy Hook, New Jersey
A classic ten meter Bayliner flybridge cruiser titled Linda T and with no one onboard ended aground near the mouth of the Shrewsbury River off the south end of Gateway National Recreation Area, in Sandy Hook, New Jersey on the morning of Monday 27 January. National Park Service dispatched a law enforcement ranger, who is working with the US Coast Guard to find the ownership. According to news the boat was seen running unmanned and adrift over the weekend, until it ended aground in the weekend.
The flybridge cruiser in this accident is a 1984 Bayliner 3270 Explorer as produced from 1981 to 1984. The 3270 Explorer was soft evolved and replaced by the Bayliner 3870 Motor Yacht, and then again as the 3288 Motor Yacht in 1989, with three thousand hulls being made in total.
Sanlorenzo Yacht Loses Control Near La Spezia, Italy
A 31 meter Sanlorenzo super yacht lost control and ended in a mooring dock wall at La Grazie, to the South East of La Spezia, Italy after 09:00 morning time of Monday 27 January. The Sanlorenzo yacht was reportedly moving in the harbour going into to the Valdettaro shipyard, to be dry docked for some works, when its controls malfunctioned, with the yacht crossing the bay from North West to South East uncontrolled but making way through the water before hitting the dock wall. In the collision the Sanlorenzo also reportedly sank a small speed boat, but no injuries are reported.
The Sanlorenzo in this collision is an SL104 as designed by Francesco Paszkowski and build from 2009 till 2015 in fifteen units. The SL104 came out as a replacement to the SL100 and was replaced by the SL106, what is a soft evolution of the same model.
Project: Prestige F4.3
Prestige has during the Dusseldorf boat show surprise presented the new F4.3. The Prestige F4.3 is based on the 420 and continues the dot point evolution of the F-line which debuted with the F4 now named F4.9 in 2023. Design duties are again by all time Prestige designer Garroni with interiors by Valentina Militerno de Romedis. The F4.3, like F4.9 and F5.7 looks at the width to not only add space but present it in a more home comfortable dynamic feature especially to what regards the main deck. The distinct bold design feature of the F4.3 is what Prestige calls the OceanView galley which is not only astern, but takes the full beam of the interior main deck, with the entrance to this area offered from the two side doors rather then the usual aft door. This is an interesting concept and one which has never been done before, which uses the hated or loved free space more efficiently but also gives an interesting three part ventilation. Other design improvements in the Prestige F4.3 are the flybridge which is also extended to the beam, while the stern bathing platform area is now also offered with a wet bar on waters edge. Down below the Prestige F4.3 is the least changed to the 420 with this offering a two cabins layout with a choice of two heads, or one bathroom and a large walk-in wardrobe. The Prestige F4.3 is to be powered by twin Volvo 440hp in V-drive line shaft for top speeds up to 31 knots and a cruise of 22.

Mark has been building boats since the age of sixteen, and previous experiences include the pinnacle of design and construction by participating in the Americas Cup and with this coming also an experience with advanced composites yacht builder McConaghy. In its first four years Palm Beach duties were to repair, upgrade, and restore motor and sailing yachts in the fifty to sixty foot sizes, and in this time also building four sailing yachts, three 60's and a 65, two designed by Australian Americas Cup famous Andy Dovell, and the other two by New Zealander Laurie Davidson. In 1999 Palm Beach leaves the original Pittwater shed, the location which gave the name to the company to a new factory in Berkeley Vale, and this marking also the switch from sail to power and a decision to build its own range of models. Palm Beach first motor boat the 38 Avalon as designed by Andy Dovell will debut in 1999, and is followed by a smaller 32 in 2003. In April 2014 Palm Beach was acquired by Grand Banks, with the new owners giving Mark Richard the job of CEO for both companies. Today Palm Beach continues to build a range of traditional lobster inspired looking cruisers, yachts, and super yachts offering fifteen models from 42 to 107 foot divided into three ranges, the standard PB and the 2018 introduced GT, and the 2025 incoming GTRS, which is the GT range with outboard power. Project: Sirena 118
Sirena Yachts takes a step forward in becoming an important player in super yachting with the presentation of its new 118 project, which was presented at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024. A design of German Frers who is the designer of all the smaller Sirena models the 118 marks the birth of a new larger composite flagship, which follows on the success of the 88 model which has so far been delivered in twenty units since debuting in 2019. It will be interesting to see if the 118 replaces Sirena 35M steel hulled project announced in 2022, although this is still offered in its website and the look of the two models is different, so considering all these differences the yachts do target a different client base. Detailed design work for the decidedly contemporary 36m yacht is still under way, for what is to be a sub 300 gross tonnage super yacht. The Sirena 118 will offer three decks of accommodation surmounted by a large sun deck, with an optional circular pool and lounging area at the bow and a vast beach club aft. Sirena’s trademark plumb bow makes a powerful statement and creates additional volume in an already generous hull. That makes space for a VIP and up to four guest cabins on the lower deck, with the owner’s stateroom dominating the forward section of the main deck. Uniquely, the owner’s stateroom can be spread across two decks, with a spiral staircase leading down to a huge relaxation area, complete with a fold-down swim platform close to the water. Social areas are no less impressive. An informal dining and lounging area fill the main deck aft, with floor to ceiling windows and a seamless transition to the deck outside. There’s more expansive dining and a wet bar on the upper deck, plus a more private exterior deck. The yacht is designed to operate with five crew and this number can be increased to seven thanks to the upper deck captain cabin. The inimitable German Frers has once again developed the yacht’s underwater profile, with lines and an exterior design drawn by Sirena’s in-house designers to transmit the brand’s true DNA. Cor D Rover is responsible for the timeless, relaxed feel to the interior of this first yacht, although owners can naturally customize the project as well. Built in fiberglass the Sirena 118 is destined to be an efficient performer with a fast displacement hull form which with the standard twin MAN 1550hp engines will give the super yacht a top speed of sixteen knots and an economical cruising speed of eleven knots. A more powerful twin 1700hp engine package will give a top speed of 21 knots.

Project: XL Marine 55 WA
Following the debut of the second generation XL Marine 45 in 2024, the Italian semi-custom classic looking sport yacht specialist looks forward and present the project for a new 55 WA. The 55 WA is to be the new flagship for XL Marine, and is based on the hull lines of the 51, but longer and wider. Naval architect and designer Antonio di Mennato had his hands full on this one, considering that XL Marine deviates from its classic open sporty looks of his previous designs to those of a walk-around with easy use fore to aft deck space. The XL Marine 55 WA is a bit of a novelty for the sense that it brings classic open looks into a walk-around, unlike the majority of the offers in the segment for a futuristic or modern-classic looks. As any XL Marine the 55 WA is custom, and is available in endless lower deck options from a one cabin, to two or thee cabins versions, while an optional crew cabin is also available aft. Even the main deck is very optionable, this available with a central sun-pad and side corridors, or central corridor and two sun-pads aft. But a lot of things can be changed in the XL 55 WA to make the boat fit to owners requirements. The first hull which is to be finished for Summer 2025 is to feature a central corridor two sun-pads main deck, with the lower deck ordered in the one cabin and an open space layout. The XL Marine 55 WA is to be powered by twin MAN 850hp and 1000hp engines with integrated U-drive line shaft propulsion, with the small engines giving 33 knots of top speed, and 37 knots from the large option.

Classic Chris Craft Saved from Fire in Villa Igiea Palermo
A classic eight meter cabin cruiser, had an onboard fire as it was berthed unattended, at the Villa Igiea marina, in Palermo, Sicily at about 08:30 morning time of Tuesday 21 January. Marina personnel tended to the fire first, who towed the boat in a secure area out of harming other vessels, and controlled and turned off the blaze. The marina personnel did such a good job that when the Fire fighting Vigili dell Fuoco squad arrived, they just had to secure the vessel. The full operation took an hour as it was concluded by 09:30. An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the fire.
The boat in this sinking is a classic wooden build Chris Craft Catalina 28 as produced in the seventies with modified super structure, and cabin windows.

Cranchi New Web Site
Cranchi presents its new World wide web showroom. Cranchi was officially founded in 1870, with the today World known production and yacht builder story starting when Giovanni Cranchi opens a workshop in Como in 1866 building fisherman and transport boats on commission, who after four years officially registers Cantiere Nautico Cranchi. In 1932 the grandson of Cranchi also named Giovanni purchases a building in Brienno, Como on the lake shore and transforms it into a shipyard. This step leads into 1952 when Cranchi and his children devote themselves to wooden boats mass production. But the real turn around for Cranchi comes from fourth generation Aldo in 1970, who partners with Tullio Monzino, moves to shipyard to nearby Valtellina and starts fiberglass production in the new establishment in Piantedo, Sondrio. This move produces the first Kiko model, and leads after this to various over one thousand delivered models; 1971 4.85 Pilotina, 1974 20 Rally, and the 1997 launched 34 Zaffiro. The plant in Piantedo also continues its expansion and in the eighties expands to 20,000 squared metres, and again to 33,000. Other sites are also added; San Giorgio di Nogaro Marine Test Center in 1997, San Giorgio di Nogaro 22,000 square meters factory, a third plant in Colico, Lecce, and last in 2005 the opening of Seventy Plant 4 dedicated to plus fifty foot yachts in an area of 100,000 squared meters of which 25,000 covered located in Rogolo, Sondrio. In all these plants Cranchi today produces ten models from the entry level E26 Rider, to the Settantotto 78 flagship, with its latest models being the just debuted Sessantasette 67 Corsa and the Sessantadue 62, with an upcoming Cinquantatre 53 project coming in 2025. Classic Cantieri di Pisa Saved from Sinking in Malta
A classic thirteen meter Cantieri di Pisa motor cruiser started to take on water, near Manoel Island, opposite the Sliema strand, Malta just after 16:30 hours of Saturday eighteen January. The report of the boat taking water was shared on the Malta Boating Group on FaceBook, as the owner and helpers rushed to the swing moored classic boat and saved her from sinking. The cause of the boat taking on water are not reported, but the most important thing, is that she is saved.
The boat in this sinking is a classic Cantieri di Pisa Polaris m. 13.20 as designed by Pier Luigi Spadolini and produced from 1961 to 1963 in triple planking mahogany wood. The Polaris was the 1956 founded Cantieri di Pisa second model, following the 10 m Jupiter, with the model evolving into the larger main deck cabin Super Polaris.

Two Boats End Aground in Iron Cove, Sydney
Two cruisers of ten meters in length ended aground at Iron Cove, in Drummoyne, to the West of Sydney on the early hours of Friday seventeen January. Strong winds which were reported to reaching wind speeds up Beaufort Force Eight caused the grounding as the boats broke their swing mooring. Low tide also made the situation a bit more difficult. A salvage by Aus Coastal Diving and Marine was organized the following day, with no injuries reported from the accident, although the boat will need some repairs.
The boats in this accident are a Greenline 33 Yacht as produced from 2008 to 2022 on the rocks to the right of the picture, and a Bayliner 3688 Motor Yacht as produced from 1992 to 1994.
Project: Evo Yachts R9
Evo Yachts stuns the industry again by challenging the world’s top superyacht builders with the project for a new super yacht flagship the R9. Evo R9 is a revolutionary product that puts the owner at the core of the design process. Packed with unprecedented new features, the yacht also leverages the points of strength that have made the brand famous worldwide. She’s a highly customisable thirty-metre aluminium super sport yacht that aims to set the bar in the superyacht industry and write a new chapter in the history of a brand that continues to evolve. The decision to opt for an aluminium hull and topside and a carbon fibre superstructure to offer increasingly custom production also reflects the brand’s design philosophy, which aims to experiment with new materials, not least in view of a sharper focus on environmental sustainability. The design by Valerio Rivellini, who designed the yacht in collaboration with the Evo's technical office, features a majestic superstructure, completely enclosed in glazed surfaces, and various layout options to meet the different needs of all kinds of owners, who can follow the design process every step of the way as they see their dream yacht transformed into reality. Evo R9 can comfortably accommodate from six to eight people, plus four members of crew, offering a high level of privacy and settings with various possible layouts. The propulsion system is another key feature of the new superyacht, with two or three 2200hp engines driving the yacht to a top speed of between 50 and 58 knots and a cruising speed of between 40 and 44 knots. The new Evo Yachts R9 is designed for an experienced owner who wants a tailor-made super sport yacht and loves high-end performance without sacrificing the features that have made the brand famous, first and foremost transformability. In fact, Evo R9 will also be fitted with hull sides that open out, using an even more sophisticated system than seen on previous yachts, designed to offer the utmost in versatility, resulting in a highly innovative superyacht but one that immediately reveals the brand identity.
