Sportfish Yacht Sinks in Long Island Sound Marina

A not attended sportfish yacht of sixteen meters in length partly sank at Safe Harbor Yacht Haven in Stamford, Long Island Sound on a story which was reported by Facebook user Ed Kramer and shared on the Boaters of Long Island Sound Group on 22:26 of nineteen December.  The sportfish yacht rolled and sank to its port side, sitting half submerged by its slip of which she is moored to its starboard.  Following the sinking the sportfish yacht was later surrounded by an oil and pollution protecting boon by the marina staff.  The cause of the sinking is not reported, though unconfirmed news say the yacht has not moved from its spot for about two years and looked in an abandoned state in recent months.
The sportfish yacht in this sinking is an Ocean Yachts 55 Super Sport as produced from 1981 to 1990 in 170 units.  When released in 1981 the 55 Super Yacht was Ocean Yachts new flagship, and was also the top selling sportfish of its size in the eighties.  The Ocean Yachts 55 Super Sport was replaced by the 58 Super Sport.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SP92

Sanlorenzo presents its new SP92, its second act for the smart performance line up which debuted in 2022 with the SP110.  This smaller SP92 is similar to the five meters larger sister in many regards from its exterior family design looks by Zuccon to its interior layout, with everything being that bit smaller.  Interestingly the vertical layout is of a different feature here, with an entry welcoming saloon taking you four steps up to the living area or down below to the guest cabins.  It is still a very open area but different to the split twin level of the larger SP110, although you still get two lounging up and down transverse areas.  Down below the Sanlorenzo SP92 offers an owners stateroom forward, and two identical sized guest VIP suites.  Further aft the guest cabin deck is a fourth room which in hull one was fitted as a private lower lounge with its own head, which can also be specified as a fourth cabin.  Two crew cabins for four crew with two private bathrooms are located forward, along with the galley and a crew mess area.  The Sanlorenzo SP92 is powered by twin Man 2000hp with MJP waterjets for top speed up to forty knots and a cruise of 35.

Project: Viking 74 Enclosed Bridge

Viking Yachts follow the just launched 74 Convertible with the project for the 74 Enclosed Bridge variant.  The 74 Enclosed Bridge is the more yacht comfortable version, offering an extra third covered up top area with a saloon and all time weather protected helm station.  The enclosed bridge is reached from an internal stair case to port side, and features an L-shaped saloon with a central helm station forward, with port and starboard companionway seats.  To aft in the exterior balcony looking aft is also a small mezzanine settee to starboard and a third docking station to port side.  For the remaining the Viking 74 Enclosed Bridge keeps the features of the Convertible version, like the two available layout for the main deck, and three or four guest cabins layout for the lower deck.  The Viking 74 Enclosed Bridge is powered by twin engines from Man 1550hp up to MTU 2635hp and five other options in between.

New Model: Cranchi Sessantadue 62

Cranchi continue to make roads in the larger yacht segment as in the Cannes Boating Festival of 2024 it launched its new Sessantadue 62.  The Sessantadue is the third Cranchi flybridge motor yacht with design styling duties trusted to Christian Grande, and is the smallest and third model for a style which started with the 78 flagship in 2020.  For the Sessantadue 62 Cranchi and Grande present a modern look, distinctive from its larger sisters by the vertical bow, but similar in style to the 68 and 78 sisters in the upper structure and flybridge hard-top.  The Cranchi Sessantadue 62 offers a three double cabins all with private heads interior, with a master stateroom at midships.  A single berth crew cabin is located to aft port side.  The Cranchi Sessantadue 62 will also offer a tender garage, which is something hard to find in a flybridge motor yacht of this size.  Powered by Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives the Cranchi Sessantadue 62 has a 28 knots top speed and a cruise of 23.

Bayliner Destroyed by Fire at Oak Harbor Washington State

An unattended ten meter Bayliner flybridge cruiser went ablaze as it was moored at Coronet Bay Marina, near Deception Pass in Oak Harbor, Washington for a fire which was reported on 08:47 of the morning of Tuesday seventeen December.  North Whidbey Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze, as the situation got a bit more complicated as the boat broke its mooring lines and drifted its way through the marina canals.  In this instance the Bayliner hit and fire damaged another boat, until she was towed and sank outside of the marina.  Mount Erie Fire Department, NAS Whidbey Island Fire Station 71 and boats from the Swinomish Fish and Wildlife Service, the Skagit County Sheriff and the Everett Fire Department also assisted in the fire.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Bayliner boat in this fire is a 3288 Motor Yacht as produced from 1985 up to 1995.  The Bayliner 3288 Motor Yacht was a soft evolution of the 3270 Explorer, same boat but with integrated radar arch, and other small changes, with the model replaced by the 3587 Motor Yacht.  The 3270 and 3288 is the best selling Bayliner model of all time, with three thousand units sold in a fourteen years production run.

Sanlorenzo Super Yacht Fire in Puerto Sotogrande Dry Dock

The 31 meter Sanlorenzo m/y Elysium went ablaze as it was drydocked in Puerto Sotogrande marina yacht yard, in the province of Cadiz, to the South of Spain, with the fire starting at 18:30 of Monday sixteen December.  The Guardia Civil and San Roque local police intervened for the fire, as they evacuated the yacht yard and closed street access in the area, as restaurants nearby to the yacht yard and marina and the Hotel Puerto Sotogrande also did not open for the evening as the smell from the flames surrounded the area.  The fire on the yacht was difficult to control also for strong winds of the night, with this fully extinguished at 05:00 morning time of the following Tuesday seventeen December.  The extent of the damage is not reported though the super structure of Elysium is shown fully destroyed on photos online.  Elysium has been reported dry docked in Sotogrande under going maintenance work since September 2024.
Motor yacht Elysium is actually the first Sanlorenzo SL104 build in 2010 to a design of Francesco Paszkowski and interiors by Rodolfo Dordoni.  The SL104 was produced from 2010 to 2014 in fifteen units, as replacement to the SL100, with the model evolving into the SL106 in 2015.

Project: Aquador 400 Hard Top

Aquador present the project for a new 400 Hard Top flagship.  The development of the 400 Hard Top marks a defining moment in the thirty years of the Finnish boat builder, as this new model will be the largest Aquador ever built.  The 400 Hard Top is a sport cruiser which looks back to the future offering a comfortable cruising platform with interesting design choices that compliment the sophisticated amenities offering the spaciousness and comfort in a compact size dimension.  The Aquador 400 Hard Top will offer a living and galley area on the main deck, with the lower deck dedicated to the sleeping cabin area, offering six berths with two cabins with double berth at midships and a double V-shaped berth forward.  The aft deck cockpit is the innovative part of the Aquador 400 Hard Top as this offers an L-shaped mezzanine dinette looking aft.  The Aquador 400 Hard Top is to be powered by twin Volvo 320hp on stern drives, with options for twin Mercury diesel 270hp or twin Mercury outboards of 300hp in petrol gas.  The Aquador 400 Hard Top will debut at the upcoming 2025 Dusseldorf boat show as the Finnish company celebrates its thirty  years anniversary.

New Model: Absolute Navetta 70

Absolute’s presents the new Navetta 70, an evolution and replacement to the Navetta 68 which was presented in 2019.  Compared to the predecessor the new Navetta 70 is 65 centimetres longer, features Absolute industry changing cockpit terrace, and has the open bulwarks which extend further aft complimenting even more the floor to ceiling windows of the main deck.  With this new length extension the new Navetta 70 also revised the bit longer flybridge, which is now available in two A or B layout choices, with the A giving a C-shaped lounger to starboard of the central helm station and B a larger L-shaped galley and wet-bar looking aft.  For most and exception to small details the Absolute Navetta 70 is not much changed to the outgoing 68, same astern galley main deck, and a four double cabins three head lower deck layout, with two large master fore and midships stateroom.  A hard choice for the owner!  The two berth crew cabin has been redesigned in the Navetta 70 with the two crew cabins moved to starboard, shower head to port side and a central mini galley.  The Absolute Navetta 70 is powered by twin Volvo 1000hp for top speeds up to 27 knots and a cruise of twenty.  Although marketed as a Navetta which is small ship in Italian, the Navetta 70 has no important range to talk of, with a twenty to fifteen knots cruise giving about three hundred nautical miles range.

Aft Cabin Cruiser Ends Aground at Stone Harbor, New Jersey

A thirteen meters Cruisers aft cabin cruiser with two persons onboard ended hard aground in the beach at Stone Harbor, New Jersey on about 20:00 of Saturday fourteen December 2024.  The cabin cruiser was first assisted by Stone Harbor Fire Company, who rescued the two boaters.  Following this Sea Tow Cape May, who shared this story on its Facebook page, was instructed to recover the vessel, which they did the following morning.  Following the recovery the cabin cruiser was taken to a dock for inspection and eventful repairs.
The aft cabin cruiser in this accident is a Cruisers 455 Express Motor Yacht as produced from 2004 to 2012.  The 455 Express Motor Yacht was a replacement to the 4450 Express Motor Yacht, with the model not replaced as Cruisers stopped producing aft cabin boats.

Tuccoli New Web Site

Tuccoli presents its new World wide web showroom.  Tuccoli was started in 1960 by Livorno native Ivano Tuccoli.  Ivano becomes a shipwright carpenter in 1956, and four years after this sets his own shop building at first wooden rowing boats, and then expanding to the Ligurian Gozzo fishing boats.  In 1970 Ivano's son Marco joins the father in the shop, while in 1974  Tuccoli's expand to a new production area of 200 squared meters.  In 1984 Tuccoli starts building in fiberglass, with this move taking us to the nineties and noughties period of success as the Livorno builder launches the models which made its story, from the T300 in 1997 to the still in production T280 in 2001, and the T410 in 2005. Tuccoli closes its door in 2010 following the aftermath of the 2008 Great Recession, with the company re-opening in 2017, as one proud Tuccoli owner for fifteen years Paolo Sanguettola restarts production in that year.  Sanguettola starts a new plan and enlist Oris Martino D'Ubaldo as designer, who starts by redesigning the previous projects as designed by Eros Bollani.  In 2019 Tuccoli starts a Professional Division and in 2022 it purchases Lion Yachts, and in 2024 the mould making Navalstampi.  Today Tuccoli offers ten models in three ranges from the six meter T210 VN to the thirteen meter T440 SF Elba.  Tuccoli new website is available in Italian and English language and takes you around with the following buttons; Home, Company, Range, 3D Configurator, Tuccoli Guarantees, Boat Garage, Sales Network, News, Tuccoli Technology, Video, and Contacts.  Tuccoli is also on social media with a button at the left bottom of the page taking you to its Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube pages.

Four Boats Destroyed by Fire in Fertilia Sardinia

Three boats and one rib where destroyed by a fire in the harbour of Fertilia, in the province of Alghero, to the North West of Sardinia for a fire which started after 03:00 early morning time of Saturday fourteen December.  Fire fighters from the Vigili dell Fuoco of Alghero, helped with a fire engine truck from Sassari attended to the blaze, with the Guardia Costiera fire fighting boat also coming down from Porto Torres.  At the arrival to the scene, the fire fighters surrounded the fire and split it from the other boats avoiding further damage.  No one was injured in the fire with its  cause or from which boat it started not reported.  
The big boat in this fire is a Laver 40 as designed by Franco Harrauer and Renato Sonny Levi and produced from 1983 to the end eighties.  The Laver 40 was also produced in a Flybridge variant, which arrived in 1984.  Laver from Naples, Italy was founded in 1978 and entered financial difficulty in the end of the eighties, with the company purchased by Salpa in 1990.

Modesta Gemma Balbo 1941 - 2024

The Sciallino Shipyard honours Modesta Gemma ‘Gemina’ Balbo, widow of Mario Sciallino, who passed away on December twelfth at the age of 83 after a long illness. Gemma was the wife of Mario Sciallino, a master shipwright and the heart and soul of the shipyard in Ceriale. After Mario’s passing in 1994, Gemma took over the management of Sciallino alongside her daughters, ensuring its continued legacy.  Founded in 1960 in a small 300-square-meter space and specializing in wooden constructions, Sciallino has over the years become a symbol of Ligurian hand build boats  excellence. In 2015 following a difficiult time Sciallino was merged with Patrone, the shipyard where Mario learned his master craftsmen in boat and ship building.  Modesta Gemma Baldo leaves behind her daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, and relatives. 

Sealine Aft Cabin Cruiser Ends Aground in Sarasota, Florida

A thirteen meter Sealine aft cabin cruiser with two persons onboard ended aground at Big Pass, Sarasota, Florida for a story shared by Florida Gulf Coast Marine Services of TowBoatU.S on his YouTube Channel on Friday thirteen December 2024.  Following the removal from the sandbar the Sealine aft cabin cruiser is shown leaving with its own power meaning it sustained little to no damage.
The boat in this accident is a Sealine 450 Statesman as designed by Bill Dixon and produced from 1992 to 1997.  When launched the 450 Statesman was Sealine largest model, then replaced by T51 which arrived in 1999.

Flybridge Cruiser Sinks in Bedford Basin, Nova Scotia Canada

A nine meter flybridge cruiser sank in Halifax Bay, Mill Cove, Bedford a province of Nova Scotia in North East Canada on the morning of Thursday twelve December 2024.  Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency responded to the sinking.  The boat sank as it broke its mooring following a storm which reached Beaufort Force Ten Gale winds in the area.  The owner was advised of the sinking, and advised to salvage the boat. 
The boat in this sinking is a Trojan 30 Flybridge Express as produced in mid to end seventies.  The 30 Flybridge Express was a replacement to the 30 Sea Raider Flybridge, and was replaced by the Trojan F-30 Flybridge Sedan.

Nordhavn Yacht Collides with Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship in Nassau

The 36 meter Nordhavn super yacht m/y Aurora was filmed as it collided with the 362 meter Royal Caribbean cruise ship Allure of the Seas in Nassau, The Bahamas on Wednesday eleven December.  Allure of the Seas was docked during the collision, which saw Aurora collide bow first into the cruise ship port side, and then hug the ship with its starboard and during this damaging its top mast and satellite antennas as they hit the stowed life boats.  It is not reported how many persons where onboard Aurora, but one crew member is seen on the fore deck, who after the first impact drops down the fenders to avoid further damage.  According to unconfirmed news Aurora lost power as it was under way near the cruise ship, ending without control and colliding.  The extent of the damage to both vessels is not known, with Aurora reported docked in Paradise Island, Bahamas after the collision, and the cruise delaying its departure from Nassau by some time but still continuing its four day cruise.
Aurora is a Nordhavn 120 delivered in 2013 to a design by Jeff Leishman with interiors by Destry Darr.  Announced as a project in 2008, Nordhavn has only build this 120, its largest yacht to date which is still being offered in its web-site as today.
Allure of the Seas is an Oasis Class Cruise Ship as build by STX Europe Turku Shipyard, Finland ordered in March 2007 and completed in November 2010.  She is currently the seventh largest cruise ship in the World, and since 20 April 2012 has had nine accidents, with five passenger fatalities involved.

New Model: Grandezza 30 CA/OC

Grandezza 30 CA/OC is the latest model to come from the Finnish sport cruiser specialist.  Sitting right in the middle of its six model sport cruiser line up which starts at seven and goes up to eleven meters, the Grandezza 30 CA/OC is a hard-top sport cruiser which follows the 37 CA flagship design and layout offer in a more compact size.  That is why the 30 CA/OC offers an interior sleeping four with a lower deck dedicated to the cabin area and a main deck with dinette and galley.  The Grandezza 30 CA/OC is powered by a single Volvo 320hp and or optional 380hp, with the large engine option giving a 35 knots top speed.

Project: Back Cove 412

Back Cove present the project of the  412, which sees the traditional cruiser return to its traditional single engine line shaft offer, after presenting the two 340 and 390 twin and triple outboard models in recent years.  An update for the 41, the Back Cove 412 will have hull and interior layout based on the previous model, but adding new key features: a remote helm fuel tank switching system, frameless direct-bonded pilothouse windows, a full-height hinged helm door, a low-glare helm with black windshield mullions, and a new Glendinning cord reel. Other upgrades include updated cockpit cushions, a sliding salon door with a power window, and the option for either an aft-facing seat with a grill cabinet or two seats. The Back Cove will be powered with single Volvo 600hp as standard, and a 725hp option will also include Slow Speed Mode.

One Man Rescued from Burning Boat in Elliot Bay Near Seattle

One man was rescued as a twelve meter explorer type cruiser went ablaze to the vicinity of Duwamish Head Light in Elliot Bay, West Seattle, Washington on 12:00 of Sunday ninth December.  The man was rescued by a nearby boat, as two US Coast Guards rescue crews came to the scene to fight the fire, and where followed by the Seattle Fire boat 3.   The fire was extinguished in about thirty minutes as ultimately the boat was wrecked with the blaze, with its remaining shell towed to Fourmile Rock.  Unfortunately though the boat sank before arriving in that desired spot and was surrounded by a protection boon, in order to avoid pollution from its one thousand litres of diesel fuel.  The man had no injuries and also refused a medical check up.  The cause of the fire is under investigation, with a plan to remove the diesel fuel and salvage the wreck being organized.
The explorer type cruiser in this fire looks to be a Marine Trader 40 Europa as produced from 1978 to 1986.
