The Sciallino Shipyard honours Modesta Gemma ‘Gemina’ Balbo, widow of Mario Sciallino, who passed away on December twelfth at the age of 83 after a long illness. Gemma was the wife of Mario Sciallino, a master shipwright and the heart and soul of the shipyard in Ceriale. After Mario’s passing in 1994, Gemma took over the management of Sciallino alongside her daughters, ensuring its continued legacy. Founded in 1960 in a small 300-square-meter space and specializing in wooden constructions, Sciallino has over the years become a symbol of Ligurian hand build boats excellence. In 2015 following a difficiult time Sciallino was merged with Patrone, the shipyard where Mario learned his master craftsmen in boat and ship building. Modesta Gemma Baldo leaves behind her daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, and relatives.
