Six Saved as Ferretti Yacht Goes Ablaze Near Chiovo, Croatia

Six persons were saved as a twenty meter Ferretti yacht registered under Malta flag went ablaze near the islet of Kraljevac, Čiovo in the Trogir region of Croatia at around 11:45 morning time of Monday 24 August.  The National Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre of Rijeka received news of the blaze, with seven members of the Hvar Fire Department tended to the area with firefighting equipment by rescue boat.  The six boaters were saved with the yacht wrecked by the blaze and then sinking in a depth of thirty meters.  No injuries and pollution are reported from the fire, with the cause of the blaze not reported.
The yacht in this fire is a Ferretti 68 as designed by Zuccon and produced from 1999 to 2002.  The 68 was a replacement to the 185 S, and was replaced by the Ferretti 680.
