A classic twenty meter Baglietto was saved from sinking offshore to the Eolian Island of Panarea to the North of Sicily, on the late afternoon of Saturday eight August. The yacht was first assisted by nearby boaters with the Guardia Costiera Italian Coast Guard also coming to the scene. The yacht was then towed to nearby Panarea, were an operation to stop the water ingress and save the yacht was a success. An investigation on the cause of the incident is ongoing.
The yacht in this accident is a Baglietto 20M as designed by Paolo Caliari and produced from 1968 to 1977 in 73 units. The 20M was a replacement to the Baglietto Minorca 20M.
