47 meter Super Yacht Risks Sinking In Kefalonia

A 47 meter super yacht titled m/y Ethos under Malta flag started to sink while it was anchored in Paliokaravo Bay, Kefalonia part of the Greek Ionian islands on the morning of Wednesday 31 July.  Ethos was reportedly running a charter with five guests and five crew members.  According to unconfirmed reports the yacht started to sink as it took on water from its starboard side lower deck tender garage door which was left open.  This door is reported to have not been closed during anchorage, and as the seas got rougher became an inlet for a huge amount of water which compromised the yachts buoyancy.  According to reports the yachts safety systems were activated as Ethos just managed to navigate for shelter to Evretis Bay in the North East of Kefalonia, were a pump-out operation is under way.
Ethos is a one off Admiral Yacht 47m build in 2014 to an exterior design by Luca Dini with interiors by Dragana Maznic.  Ethos was launched as Entourage and was refitted in 2017, 2019 and just two months ago in 2024.  Ethos charters for 200,000 Euros a week in high season.
