Baia Sport Cruiser Ends Aground on Ischia Breakwater

A fourteen meter Baia sport cruiser collided with the breakwater of Casamicciola Terme harbor, on the Island of Ischia near Naples just after 01:00 hours of 27 July.  The collision happened when the Baia sport cruiser was re-entering harbor following the water celebrations of the Sant. Anna feast.  A security video also shows as the Baia is colliding with the breakwater at speed of over twenty knots.  The Guardia Costiera reported for the collision, with no injuries being accounted although the amount of passengers onboard the sport cruiser is not mentioned.  The boat sustained damage to its hull, with a recovery made the following morning.
The Baia in this collision is a first generation 48 Flash as designed by Carlo Galeazzi and produced from 1998 to 2004.  The 48 Flash launched an innovative removable hard-top which followed in all new Baia models till 2002.  The 48 Flash came out as a replacement to the Baia 46 Bimini, with the model evolving into a second generation with fixed different design hard-top in 2004.
