Seven people were saved as a classic ten meter Sea Ray sport cruiser went ablaze near Belle Mare Marina, Lake St. Clair on the afternoon of fourth July. The boaters who their age ranged from ten to 75 years were first helped by a nearby boater, who offloaded them the boat, as Macomb County Sheriff’s Office intervened and controlled the fire. According to the Sheriff's Office the fire was coming from the engine compartment as two invertors started smoking. The US Coast Guard was notified of the accident.
The boat in this fire is a 1985 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer as produced from 1984 to 1989. This era Sea Ray 340 platform was used in three other versions from the Sundancer similar Express Cruiser, to the Sedan Bridge, and the Sport Fisherman. The 340 Sundancer was a replacement to the SRV 310 Sundancer and was replaced by the Sea Ray 350 Sundancer.
