Sport Cruiser Saved from Fire Near Charlevoix, Lake Michigan

Two boaters were saved as a twelve meter sport cruiser titled m/y Closing Belle was saved from onboard fire and subsequent sinking, to the East of Lake Michigan, near Norwood, on the afternoon of thirty July, 2024.  United State Coast Guard station Charlevoix, tended to the boat sinking, and then towed to Charlevoix Marina.  The sport cruiser had its automatic fire suppression system which extinguished the fire, but following this the boat was taking on water, with the hull intrusion close by the coast guard personel.  The two boaters abandoned the boat on the tender.
The sport cruiser in this accident is a Tiara 3900 Sovran as produced from 2007 to 2013.  The 3900 Sovran was a replacement to the 4000 Express, with the model replaced by the Tiara 39 Coupe.
