Unattended Bertram Sinks in Fort Lauderdale

An unattended seventeen meter Bertram sportfish yacht sank while berthed near Esplanade Park at 4200 Southwest Second Street, Fort Lauderdale just before 16:00 hours of Tuesday 23rd July.  Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to the sinking which at this stage did not impede any marine traffic, while SeaTow was called to refloat the yacht.  Incidentally a Jupiter center console of about seven meters in length also sank like some one hundred meters away.  The investigation for the sinking is under investigation.
The Bertram in this sinking is a 540 as produced from 2009 till 2012 to a design of Giovanni Zuccon.  Coming as a replacement to the 570, the 540 introduced some more cruising features like a forward windshield and lower helm option, although over its three production years Bertram returned the model into more sportfishing amenities.
