INBUILD ~ Galeon 340 Fly Part 4 of 4

Finally the Galeon design and building team after over six months of hard work in the yard have arrived in the final stages of the finishing of the new 340 Fly. These photos are from last week before the first unit of the 340 Fly goes on its debut during the coming Dusseldorf boat show. As you can see here the interior fittings of the 340 Fly are ready, while the engineer outside is actually putting the railings around the sun pad to fore. The side railings have been fitted and just need to be removed from there protective plastic. Hull number one has been fitted with a hard to find in this size modern Wenge interior wood, and white leather furnishings. For those not attending the German boat show in about a weeks time we will show you the 340 Fly completely ready with an exterior and interior picture.

Engine: Volvo Penta D3 220hp

The new Volvo Penta D3 super diesel sterndrive is here compact and filled with ultramodern engine technology. The new D3, in four power classes from 140 to 220 horsepower, is faster, more powerful, cleaner and quieter than its predecessor. And now it is also available with a joystick. The new D3 is a completely new engine. Like its predecessor, the basic engine comes from the Volvo Car Corporation and is based on a 2.4 liter, five cylinder aluminum engine block with the very latest in engine technology. The new D3 has a common rail fuel injection system with a pressure of 1,800 bar and piezoelectric injectors, which make possible multiple injections per working cycle and thus even more precise fuel quantities. Advanced and highly efficient cross-flow cooling maintains an even engine temperature. A variable geometry turbocharger gives the engine effective supercharging from even very low rpm up to maximum rpm. This results in a powerful torque for rapid acceleration up to planing speed and a higher top speed. Everything is monitored and controlled electronically, now with even greater precision. All in all, this gives the new D3 impressive sports performance compared with its predecessor, which was already the best in its class. Output has been increased from 190 to 220 hp at the same time as fuel consumption is lower, as is sound and emissions. The new D3's emissions are in line with the very stringent US EPA Tier 3 regulations, which come into force in 2012.

Project: Menorquin MCY 200 Custom Yacht

Traditional looks with great habitability, harmonious distribution of the interior space, outstanding comfort and versatility are all features which define the MCY 200, new project from Spanish yacht builder Menorquin. The MCY 200 Custom Yacht is developed in collaboration with the prestigious designer Fulvio de Simoni. A 21 metre traditional yacht from the new Menorquin Custom Yachts range. The other vessel in this range which is still in project stages is the Menorquin MCY 240 Custom Yacht. Now the Menorca boat builder further completes its range with the 200. Both the MCY 240 and the MCY 200 are manufactured to order only, this provides the customer the opportunity of participating in the configuration of the interior, choosing the materials and achieves a yacht which is in total harmony with their personal tastes. Very habitable in there dimensions the MCY 200 uses its 21 metres overall length to present a configuration which enhances its habitability. Furthermore the beam of over six metres is fully usable thanks to the semi displacement hull shape which is a characteristic of Menorquin vessels. A notable example are the lateral folding balconies which accentuate the spaciousness of the upper deck.This super yacht has three levels the main deck, the lower and the flybridge; within these it offers three distinct living areas; two on the main deck, which are saloon and cockpit living and a third on the flybridge. It is also possible to install side doors to the saloon and it offers the convenience of two pilot stations one inside and the other on the flybridge, and two solarium's located at the bow and on the flybridge. The interior of the MCY 200 is made to measure, the options for the interior layout are as exclusive as the individual tastes of each customer. For example in a model designed to have 3 cabins, these may all be located in the lower deck together with the galley, whilst in a version with 4 cabins the galley could be transferred to the main deck. Whatever the final layout of the interior there will always be outstanding comfort and a fantastic sense of space both in the master cabin and the VIP cabin, which are as wide as the boat’s beam. The guest cabins are also totally independent and equally comfortable with en suite washrooms. A further satisfying design detail is the crew cabin which in this yacht has been located aft in the lower deck, and accommodates two people in total independence with its there own washroom. In addition to all this attributes of a MCY 200 are those aspects which contribute to its magnificent performance; such as the advantage of a low fuel consumption whilst maintaining a cruising speed of between 15 and 17 knots. Designer Fulvio de Simoni who co-designed both the 200 and 240 models which stand at the top of Menorquin's range has ensured the unmistakable style of the vessels is maintained. He has found a way of combining to perfection the traditional character and elegance that define this company with the most innovative techniques that are applied during the manufacture of these recreational vessels.

New Model: Maxi Dolphin MD51 Cruiser

Maxi Dolphin MD 51 Cruiser is a new version which complements the first sport yacht from this normally custom sailing boat builder. With the MD 51 Cruiser, Maxi Dolphin integrates and completes the layout of the boat. The MD 51 Cruiser builds on the formula of the Power version but is designed with more thought to offer better comfort and a live ability at sea. This version has in fact two large cabins instead of one, a crew cabin, absent in the tender version, and two bathrooms. The dinette is very spacious with contrasting combinations in carbon, floor-boards, leather and teak. Moreover, in the cockpit seats can convert into a spacious sundeck, with possible optional internal housing for a tender which was not possible to include in the original layout. The MD51 is also available with hard top as pictured above, this option also available on the standard Power version. Obviously the new MD51 Cruiser keeps on the unique build quality of its more aggressive sister with a carbon Kevlar fiberglass construction which gives superior strength and lightness.

Project: Rio 54 Air

Rio Yachts presents the project for a new flagship with the 54 Air, which is planned to be launched in the coming fall. The North West Italy builder comes from a period of success presenting three new models in the past year, reinventing its line progressively to latest design trends, and to the need of its buyers. After being absent over the fifteen metre size since the early nineties with the 16.90, Rio returns again to a similar dimension with the 54 Air albeit a different concept to the old flagship. Designed by Rio technical department with Engineer Marcello Sposito, and Architect Marco Alfani the 54 Air will be a hard top sport yacht, having similar familiar looks to its recent new models. For the 54 Air, Rio project team is aiming for the following targets of a 35 knots performance, three cabin plus crew interior, and easy handling in all situations thanks to the Axius joystick. Propulsion and engine choices have so far not been advised. The 54 Air will also offer choices to the buyer for what regards the main deck, with a choice to have the area enclosed with patio door and settee aft, or fully open sun pad style deck. Construction wise the 54 Air will be built with the latest technology having a balsa cored hull, water proof vinilester resins, and stringers made with the use of carbon material. Rio also notes that in 2010 it will also present another model in addition to this new flagship with a 42 in planning stages, and for 2011 in relation to its fiftieth anniversary should launch a further bigger sized sport yacht.

Improve-it = Sunseeker 108 Predator

Sunseeker have released a rather different improved 108 Predator for the 2010 London boat show. This so called improved special edition version is distinctive because of its bronze color, and its aft garage which instead of the usual rib hosted a nice very exclusive Caterham Se7en sports car. Apart these truly inspirational features which makes you see a Super Sport Yacht with a rather large excitement, with this new format the British largest motor boat builder obviously shows flexibility to its building and design. Obviously while improving on the standard 108 Predator to extreme, this new version keeps the rakish, minimal superstructure arrow head foredeck, its luxurious eight guest berths in four luxury cabins interior, and a 45 knots performance achieved with the total of 7300hp, triple Arneson surface drive option.

Project: Mulder 92 Flybridge

Mulder Shipyard is currently in the process of completing a new all aluminium 92 Flybridge. This new project which is actually in its final stages of construction has been ordered by an Egyptian client, and will be so far as at today the Dutch builders current biggest construction. The 92 Flybridge just comes on the heels of a just delivered 68 Convertible for a Spaniard, these recent orders confirm the Dutch yard’s global attraction and identity to connoisseurs of quality. As the younger and larger sister of the renowned Mulder 88 Flybridge, the new 92 Flybridge will again be blessed with classic Mulder lines. This new flagship of the Mulder fleet will have a modern interior, finished in premium quality mahogany wood with a wealth of light tints. The Mulder 92 Flybridge is designed with a round bilged, semi planing underwater hull section. Propulsion: Konrad PRSIII

The Konrad PRSIII is an alternative for aging Mercruiser Speedmaster III series drives. It has greatly simplified the conversion process of the SSMIII, with just a few easy steps. Most conversions can be completed in a matter of just a few hours. Improve-it = Broom 395

Presented over a year ago, British boat builder Broom present a new improved galley to the 395. This galley has been proposed by an owner and shows flexibility from Broom to accommodate owners requests and model improvement to the standard version as pictured above. Launched in the Summer of 2008 the 395 is the latest model introduced by Broom, famous for its pure British looking aft cabin motor cruisers. Second entry model in its range the 395 is a two cabin two head boat, having unbeatable spaces, and owners suite to aft which can be compared to that of a fifteen metre yacht. The 395 can be powered by a single engine this choice more adaptable for river coastal use, or having a twin for planning speeds and superb performance.
