Three persons managed to escape as a sixteen meter Princess yacht with Italian flag went ablaze in the Northern part of the Lefkada channel bridge in the Ionian sea of Greece on the early afternoon of Thursday tenth September. The three boaters jumped off-board the yacht and swam to the shore, as a fisherman first, Hellenic Coast Guard, and two fire engines from land intervened to fight the fire. Ultimately the yacht was wrecked by the fire with the cause of the blaze not reported. No injuries are reported to the boaters, with the bridge delaying in opening following the accident.
The yacht in this fire is a Princess 54 as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2006 to 2012 in 140 units. The 54 was a replacement to the 57, and was replaced by the second generation Princess 56.
