A thirteen meter Sea Ray sport cruiser titled m/y Lady Beatriz with three boaters onboard went ablaze as it was cruising two nautical miles from the beach to the East of Puerto Progreso, Yucatan Mexico just after 13:00 of Saturday first July. The crew are reported to have jumped overboard as the boat went ablaze. The Mexican navy and Maritime Police tended to the accident, with the boaters all reporting not injured after a medical check. Lady Beatriz was saved from sinking although it's damage was extensive and is a total wreck. The Sea Ray sport cruiser left the Torre III Marina in the Port of Yucalpetén at about 11:00 hours for a day cruise before going ablaze. The cause of the fire is not known though it was said it started from the engine compartment.
Lady Beatriz is a Sea Ray 440 Sundancer as produced from 2006 to 2008. The Sea Ray 440 Sundancer came out as an evolution of the 42 Sundancer, same boat but with a modified interior layout and larger hull windows serving the lower deck saloon area, with the model replaced by the hard-top 450 Sundancer.
