A ten meter Cranchi sport cruiser with three French persons ended aground while having its hull breached during navigation near to Civitavecchia in the late afternoon of Friday 28 July. The Cranchi sport cruiser was reported coming from Argentario, when apparently it had problems to one engine which stopped working, and then finishing beached and taking water in La Marina area to the South of Civitavecchia large commercial harbour. The French boaters were later assisted at around midnight by the Civitavecchia fire fighting squad.
The Cranchi in this sinking is the Cruiser 32 model. Released in 1990 the Cranchi Cruiser 32 was produced till 1996 to a design of Andreani. The Cranchi Cruiser 32 offered a two cabins interior and powered by twin 200hp Volvo diesel with stern drives reached speeds to about 32 knots. The Cruiser 32 was replaced by the successful Zaffiro 34 in 1997.
