One Person Saved from Burning Sportfish in Delaware Bay

One person was saved as a twelve meter sportfish cruiser titled Done Deal caught fire in Delaware Bay, New Jersey on 11:00 morning time of Tuesday eighteen July.  Seeing the fire the sole boater aboard sent a radio signal with his position and then went to the bow, ultimately jumping in the water as the fire expanded further on Done Deal.  Coast Guard sector Delaware responded to the call by dispatching an eight meter response boat from Station Fortesque, New Jersey who recovered the man from the water.  Following the coast guard Downe Township Fire and Rescue from New Jersey, and Little Creek Fire Company from Delaware arrived on-scene and fought the fire until it was extinguished.  The Coast Guard rescue crew took the one man to Higbee’s Marina in Fortescue, New Jersey, for a medical check up, and was reported heathy apart some smoke inhalation.  Coast Guard sector Delaware Bay are monitoring for environmental concerns, while the boat owner was instructed to salvage the wreck. The incident is under investigation.
Done Deal was a first generation Post Yacht 42 Sport Fisherman from 1975.  The Post 42 was produced from 1974 to 83 replacing the 40 Sport Fisherman and then replaced by the 43 Sport Fisherman.
