Two Persons Saved as Sport Cruisers Sinks Near Amalfi, Italy

A man and woman in their thirties were saved as an eight meter sport cruiser partly sank near Punta Campanella on the Western tip of the Amalfi Coast, on the afternoon of 25 August, 2022.  After launching the Mayday call for help the two boaters were fast assisted and rescued in minutes by the Guardia Costiera Sar Cp858 rib, who was in the area on patrol duties.  The boat was reported going direction to Capri, when it started to take on water and sink for a not advised reported reason.  No pollution was reported, with the sport cruiser towed to Capri and taken to a boat yard for haulage.
The boat in this part sinking is a Squalo 28 as designed by Franco Harrauer and produced from 1978 to 1983.  The 28 was Squalo second model, and was replaced by the 30 built in fiberglass. Founded in 1977 by four ship wrights in Naples, Squalo built fast seaworthy cruisers, first in lamellar wood and from 1981 in fiberglass.
