No one was injured as an express sportfish of eleven meters titled m/y Tomahawk collided with a fishing vessel of a similar length called m/y Gloria Jean in the Dogfish Bar area off Aquinnah, Massachusetts at around 12:30 of Friday fifth August, 2022. The U.S. Coast Guard deployed a Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod and surface vessels from Station Menemsha to assist the vessels, along with the Chilmark harbormaster’s department as news off the collision arrived. Both boats suffered damage, the express sportfish on its bow running into both sides, and the fishing vessel to its bow starboard. The express sportfish was towed to West Basin in Menemsha by TowboatU.S, while the fishing vessel made a temporary repair with plywood and made with its own power with a US Coast Guard boat following it. The captain of the fishing vessel said he was dragging a fishing net and was unable to manoeuvre as the express sportfish collided into him. The fishing vessel captain also said the Gloria Jean tried to make contact with the Tomahawk but to no avail. No one was injured in the collision.
M/y Tomahawk the express sportfish in this collision is a Topaz 40 Express as produced from 2004 to 2007.
