One 69 year old man was killed as a nine meter Sea Ray sport cruiser exploded at about one hundred meters off the shore of Veazey Neck in Bohemia River, Cecil County, Baltimore after 19:00 of Saturday thirty July 2022. A second person was also injured and was collected and helped by a nearby boater and taken to hospital. The Charlestown Fire Company responded to the blaze, although the sport cruiser ended being wrecked. The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire are under investigation by the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
The sport crusier in this fire is a second generation Sea Ray 290 Sundancer as produced from 1994 to 1997. The second generation 290 Sundancer was a replacement to the first 270 Sundancer, and was replaced by the third generation 290 Sundancer.
