Apreamare Announces Record Sales

Apreamare, one of the best-known boatyards in the world and reference brand of the Sorrentine gozzo revisited in a modern key, confirms the success of its commercial and marketing strategy. The brand, led by the Aprea and Pollio families, is experiencing broad success, both commercially and organizationally, with significant investments into infrastructure, research, development and expansion of the team.  “Our shipyard, in complete adherence to the tradition and quality that have always represented us, has responded to the latest commercial challenges with great strength, relying on important designers to offer an increasingly demanding clientele new and creative answers. But just as important are the expert hands of our artisans who have been collaborating with us for more than 20 years,” comments Rita Pollio, CEO of Apreamare. “These products have seen a significant return in terms of turnover: from 2020, the year in which Gozzo 35 was presented, a triple-digit percentage growth is expected by the end of 2022 with a remarkable number of contracts already in the order book”.  The brand’s latest commercial success was the sale of the Maestro 88, which is about to become the new flagship of the Maestro line and the Apreamare fleet. “One-off, tailor-made for the customer,” tells Cataldo Aprea, the President of Apreamare, “the unit will respect the stylistic language of the historic range which has always represented aesthetic elegance as well as comfort, manoeuvrability and seaworthiness”. The best seller of the Apreamare brand is the beloved Gozzo 35, which has become the best seller of the range with over 30 units sold since her official launch one year and a half ago. Marco Casali of Too Design penned the exterior lines and Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design architected the hull geometry with the support of Cataldo Aprea. The iconic Gozzo 35 is characterized by her unmistakable Mediterranean soul and sober, elegant lines, dating back to the historical tradition of the Sorrentine Gozzo, which has been produced by the Aprea family since 1849.  The construction of the range’s big sister, the Gozzo 45, is proceeding tirelessly towards her world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022. The tradition and the essence of the brand manifested in the 35 are refreshed and amplified in the new Gozzo 45. This recognizably Mediterranean classy cruiser begins from the promise of zero steps on deck, in full compliance with the walkaround philosophy. The Gozzo 45 offers numerous elements that favour a superior livability outside and under deck to offer a quality of life on board that is unique in her segment.

Lyman-Morse Receives ISO9001:2015 Certification

After an extensive implementation process and third-party audit, Lyman-Morse Technologies (LMT), a sister division to Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding, achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, the world’s most widely recognized quality management standard.  The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 is a globally recognized quality management system. Today it is the most up-dated standard of its kind and focuses on quality management processes and performance. Through regular third-party audits, this accreditation validates LMT’s existing commitment to providing its customers with an exceptional experience and final product.   The certification also provides objective proof that a manufacturing business implements policies and procedures that satisfy all the require-ments of a comprehensive quality management system. Perry Johnson Registrars conducted the audit to ensure LMT was following the stan-dard as prescribed by ISO.  “ISO 9001 helps to ensure that our customers receive consistently high-quality products and service,” said LMT manager Samir Gupta. “They come to us due to this commitment to quality and continual improvement.”  The certification also allows the company to expand further into federal, municipal and defense industries, all of which are already components of LMT’s business. The company is certified for three years during which internal audits are taken and submitted to PJR. LMT is also subject to unannounced audits.  In recent years, LMT has grown significantly, adding additional skillsets, high-tech equipment and earning a reputation within a wide range of industries.  The company has completed projects within a multitude of fields, including architecture, municipalities, universities, industrial man-ufacturers, research, development projects and more.  Recent projects include the construction of a custom marine railway and hydraulic door system for a structure on the Historic Register, while also working on a cutting-edge project in partnership with one of the United States’ largest naval ship construction facilities.  Other highlights include clock hands for Boston’s historic custom house tower, a composite church steeple and composite wind tunnels and air ducts. A 160 x 30-foot compos-ite canopy for Cambridge, Massachusetts’ Kendall Square train station is scheduled for a fall 2022 installation.

Nordhavn Owner Reaches Milestone Ocean Crossing

Philippe Guglielmetti, who was left disabled following a serious stroke he suffered in 2015, set a goal to captain his own boat across an ocean. He did just that, achieving his goal last week when he brought his Nordhavn 40 from Miami to Tarragona, Spain. It was an incredible feat, not only given the circumstances surrounding Guglielmetti’s physical health, but especially taking into account that the entire second half of the trip – a total of 18 days at sea – was completed without stabilization.  The road to recovery has been paved with Guglielmetti’s own gritty determination, a tactic he uses to help reach physical goals he has set for himself since he lay in a Paris hospital six years ago. With this latest achievement, Guglielmetti presents as an example for both fully-abled and lesser-abled folks who possess an adventurous spirit.  Guglielmetti hopes to tell his story so it can be used not only as a source of inspiration but also to bring attention to stroke awareness.

Nordhavn Vice President Goes Exploring

When the creative geniuses behind Nordhavn that would be Vice President Jim Leishman and his brother, Chief of Design, Jeff Leishman, come up with a new design, they are not content to watch it run through production, hand it over to its subsequent new owners, and move on to the next project. They need to experience it for themselves, see how it performs, and identify ways to improve it. If there’s one thing about Nordhavn designs it’s that they are constantly evolving to ensure the build quality, equipment, comfort levels and performance not only exceed current measures but set the tone for future standards.  Usually, the chance to gain experience on new hulls comes in the form of long ocean deliveries for owners. Jim recently helped take a Nordhavn 68 from Anacortes to Ketchikan, Alaska. Two years ago, Jim, Jeff, and project manager Dave Harlow brought a brand new N475 from Seattle down to Dana Point, CA. But sometimes when a new model is introduced, a hull in the production line will be designated as a company demonstrator, to be used for boat shows, seatrials and the like. It is with this demonstrator that Jim, Jeff, along with Nordhavn president Dan Streech and other key members of the sales and project and engineering staff, will take prolonged cruises to test how it operates under real-use conditions.  The most famous PAE (Pacific Asian Enterprises) seatrial was of the Nordhavn 40 back in 2001, when a rotating crew of Nordhavn employees took hull #21 around the globe in a world record-setting circumnavigation that stands today. (Thursday marked the 20th anniversary of that voyage’s culmination.) From that trip came not only several tweaks of the N40 but also the birth of the Nordhavn 43.  More typical, however, are the types of cruises the three PAE principles took separately with their families four years ago aboard a Nordhavn 56 Coastal Pilot. Streech recalls getting a “new-found appreciation” for the only semi-displacement trawler in the line which escorted him, his kids and grandkids around the Bahamas.  Last Tuesday marked the end of a four-week journey Jim took with wife Sue and his son, Nordhavn salesman James Leishman, along with his own son. Pulling into the docks in front of Nordhavn’s North Palm Beach offices, Jim and James spoke about how this Nordhavn 41, hull 10, exceeded their expectations. Each had spent time on different Nordhavn 41s, but never for the prolonged time this trip to the Bahamas gave them.  “It performed awesome,” said Jim, who has a fondness for the brand’s smaller, accessible models. “I love this boat even more than I thought. We experienced virtually zero problems” with only a tripping stove switch causing them bother. Jim spent considerable time at the factory in Turkey, watching as the crews worked through COVID to crank out production. Cruising all over the Bahamas with his family gave him an entirely different perspective.  They departed Palm Beach on May 20th and ran the boat approximately 600 miles going as far as the Abacos. He was especially impressed with the fuel efficiency, noting that they burned more fuel when using the generator than they did running the engines.  They swam with the pigs in Noname Cay, went pole spear fishing and free diving. “It was an absolutely spectacular boat for the four of us,” echoed James. “The craftsmanship is impressive. You can see Murat Telgeren, president of Telgeren and Parnters factory’s attention to detail in every corner. The layout of everything, the placement of switches, it’s all intuitive.”  Like the other PAE seatrials, there will be notes sent back to the factory about tweaks that will make the boat even better. “There will be a few things we fine tune, but nothing much,” said James.  The boat will soon head north to be taken by different members of the Nordhavn team before it arrives up in Rhode Island to the Northeast office. It will be shown at the Newport International Boat Show and then Jim and Jeff will take over again, making their way down the coast to Annapolis for the U.S. Powerboat Show. It will return to Palm Beach for a quick spruce and be prepared for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October.

Numarine Partnership with Yazz Collective Resort

The Istanbul-based boat builder will sponsor the most luxurious yachting destination in Turkey this summer.  In a first for Turkish boatbuilders, Numarine has recently announced a partnership with the Yazz Collective resort in Fethiye, in the heart of the Turkish Riviera. There are no roads leading to this ultra-luxe and highly secluded resort, and it is only accessible by boat, which makes Yazz the ideal location for Numarine owners to seek out fun and relaxation in utmost privacy.  For summer 2022, Numarine has a dock set up at the resort for exclusive use by its customers. Once a Numarine-built vessel pulls into port, the entire stay is complimentary. Owners and their guests will be greeted by Champagne and fresh fruit and be able to take advantage of relaxing couples massages completely on the house. There is certainly no better way to arrive at any destination.  Yazz Collective is located in the super-private and out-of-the-way Turunc Pinari Bay. There, turquoise waters lap at the sand while guests enjoy exquisite meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and dance long into the night listening to the selectively curated playlists of handpicked DJs.  If guests do not take advantage of the Numarine dock, and choose to moor in the sheltered waters of the bay instead, the resort has a fleet of luxury tenders that can whisk them to and from the festivities on the shore.  The collaboration between Yazz and Numarine is unprecedented in Turkey, and highlights the innovative lengths to which Numarine is willing to go to create a client experience that approaches the sublime. Not only is the builder offering the best yachts in the country, they now have one of the very best ports in Turkey set up fully for their owners, as well. In many ways, Numarine has created a highly exclusive club, where clients, guests, and captains can get to know one another and form strong bonds and lasting friendships that will serve to enhance their yachting endeavors in the future.  The Numarine experience in Fethiye is one unlike anywhere else in the world, and one Numarine owners and prospective owners should no doubt take advantage of as the summer begins in earnest.

Riva Aquarama the Book Celebrating Sixty Iconic Years

When it comes to glamour and high style on the seas, there’s nothing more captivating than the Aquarama. Dreamed up by the legendary Carlo Riva, the run-about wooden speed has become an icon of Italian design and the Riva Aquarama book, edited by Assouline, celebrates its 60th Anniversary. Beloved for its clean lines, mahogany, glistening chrome details and signature robin’s egg-blue and cream upholstery, the Aquarama reflected la dolce vita optimism of early-‘60s Italy; it’s impossible to picture the glittering Côte d’Azur and coasts of Europe without visions of endless summers spent lounging on the back of the boat in the warm summer sun, and the gentle roar of the engine as the Aquarama cuts through the surf.  The Riva icon enjoyed a mythical status and was beloved by movie stars, heads of state and royalty - everyone from Brigitte Bardot, Elizabeth Taylor, Gunter Sachs and the royal family of Monaco, among countless other luminaries, have been enchanted by the Aquarama’s spell. Of the about 760 completed Aquaramas made in the Sarnico shipyard, Riva experts estimate around 650 are still in existence, which only adds to the boat’s legendary status. But more than just a trophy, the Aquarama is fiercely beloved by its owners and enthusiasts alike—it’s not just a boat, but the realization of a dream.  In this exceptional tribute to the Aquarama, author Michael Verdon tells the story of the legendary boat and brings to life its dolce vita charm. The book is also offered in a special edition, presented in a luxury mahogany box that is crafted to express the beauty of the Aquarama’s magnificent hull. This special edition offers owners, collectors and enthusiasts alike a piece of the Riva dream.

Riva Lounge in Porto Cervo Waterfront

Riva is a magical word that rhymes with summer, sea, beauty and, of course, Sardinia. Of all the good reasons to visit the Costa Smeralda, one of the most interesting is the Riva Lounge, which once again this year presents a classy space offering sophisticated cocktails and Riva-branded products in the magnificent setting of the Waterfront in Porto Cervo. The main and stated aim of the initiative is to have fun and enjoy magical moments in the company of the legendary boat brand that in 2022 celebrates its 180th anniversary.   Building on the successful debut in 2021, Riva once again brings the Riva Lounge to the Costa Smeralda. A fascinating and appealing initiative, it joins the other Riva Destinations set in exclusive locations, including Venice, Monte Carlo, Formentera, Mykonos and Palm Beach, and decorated in classic 1950s Dolce Vita style, featuring the hallmark details found on Riva yachts.  The initiative, promoted by Smeralda Holding, presents the Riva Lounge in conjunction with the “Riva inside, inside Riva” concept, which extends the brand’s values beyond the yachting sector. The world’s most famous hotels, restaurants and clubs - in locations close to a landing point for yachts - paint themselves with Riva’s hallmark aquamarine and mahogany brown color combination, transferring the brand’s signature design, attention to detail and heritage to dry land too.  The Riva Lounge, which was officially opened on June 29th in partnership with Waterfront Costa Smeralda and can be visited until Sunday September 4th, is the perfect fit for Porto Cervo’s new Waterfront layout, designed by Gio Pagani and featuring an elegant and inviting architectural concept. All the furnishings in the Lounge have the same features typically found on Riva boats, giving owners a taste of this legendary brand and first-hand experience of the materials and woods used for almost 180 years to build the world’s most famous boats, chosen and loved by stars and celebrities. Unique detailing - like the chrome, the steel, the lacquered mahogany, and the aquamarine cushions - conjure up at first glance the iconic yachts of an unforgettable era and immediately transport visitors into a fabulous Dolce Vita atmosphere.  Guest of honour at the Riva Lounge is ‘Riva Aquarama’, the new book published by Assouline to mark the 60th anniversary of the launch of the iconic Aquarama, universally acknowledged as the most beautiful boat of all time. This priceless new publication was officially presented in Venice on June 11 against the spectacular backdrop of the Gran Teatro La Fenice, during the exclusive event to celebrate the brand’s 180th anniversary and will be on sale from the Assouline website starting July 4th.  Completing the Riva experience are premium cocktails and drinks, created by talented mixologists and inspired by local excellence and the history of Riva, bearing the names of the iconic yachts of the legendary brand. The bar manager this year is Maurizio Muzzu, bar manager of the Li Neuli Country Club, an exclusive resort in the heart of the Costa Smeralda whose Cocktail & Wine bar was recently awarded among the top ten in Italy.  Alongside top international luxury brands and the world’s most desirable yachts, also making their return this year are the super-chic Ferretti Group VIP Lounge, the temporary Riva boutique with a collection of unique, original objects in the brand’s signature style, and the Range Rover House, Ferretti Group’s prestigious luxury automotive partner since 2019.

Mike Tucci’s Rebel claimed the Heaviest Tuna at the Montauk Canyon Challenge. Captain Mark DeCabia was behind the wheel of the Viking 52 when they hooked up with a 256.8-pound big eye.  The Heaviest Yellowfin, at 83.2 pounds, was caught on Sal Alonge’s Viking 56 Dana Marie. Right behind Dana Marie, Blondie/Five Seas took 2nd Place Heaviest Yellowfin with an 80.2-pounder and 2nd Place Triple Yellowfin. Glenn McCarty’s Viking 48 Never Give Up claimed the Heaviest Swordfish with a 119.1-pound fish – let’s see how he does next year with his new Viking 54. The newly delivered Viking 48 I’m Shore didn’t hit the leaderboard but weighed a nice big eye and yellowfin.  This year’s event was record-breaking with 50 boats and an almost $450,000 payday. More importantly, the Montauk Canyon Challenge raised over $35,000 for Maggie’s Mission, which raises awareness of pediatric cancers, funds critical research and helps affected families financially and emotionally.

Wajer Open Wajer Bay Marina Miami

A long-cherished dream comes true. We are proud to announce that we will soon be opening our own private marina in Miami, called Wajer Bay. As a result of our growth in the USA Wajer has the unique opportunity as of December 1st 2022 to offer 16 completely renovated berths in one of Miami’s most desirable spots; the former Bentley Bay - Miami South Beach.  As you may expect from Wajer, it will of course be a marina, without compromises and with all modern conveniences. The berths, all equipped with a brand new boat lift, are the ideal base for a wonderful day on the water. Easy to reach and of course under the supervision of a qualified dock master. In addition, there are many stores and restaurants in the neighborhood making it a very lively and atmospheric environment. For full details of the marina see the summary below. So if you want a – Without A Worry – berth for your boat in Miami then Wajer Bay Marina is the place to be.
