Benetti 140 Years Anniversary
Benetti is one of the oldest builders of luxury motor yachts in the world. Established by Lorenzo Benetti in 1873, the company began life building wooden boats used for local and international trade. After the death of Lorenzo, his two sons Gino and Emilio took over the management of the boatyard. They changed its name to Fratelli Benetti and quickly built up a reputation that extended far beyond the Mediterranean. After the second world war, with the disappearance of commercial sailing vessels built from wood, Benetti changed direction and began producing pleasure craft made from steel. Then in the early 1960s the boatyard produced its first luxury mega yachts. Since 1980 the fleet has included big motor yachts in the 30 to 60 meter range and beyond, not least the famous 86-meter ‘Nabila’. In 1985 the Boatyard was acquired by the celebrated Turin-based boat builder Azimut Yacht, which brought in new management and transformed Benetti into the modern, technologically advanced reality we know today: a forward-looking and innovative boatyard, but also one that proudly retains its traditional values of experience, skill and a passion for fine craftsmanship. In fact, for Benetti, building yachts means carrying on the tradition of innovation, style and quality that has shaped the company’s approach and culture. It means continuing to diversify production in order to satisfy the increasingly complex needs expressed by Owners throughout the world. Benetti has a time-honoured tradition in yacht building. After abandoning wood and being the first to realise the potential of composite materials for the production of megayachts, as early as the 1960s it made the transition from metal boats to the steel and aluminium. Today Benetti utilizes these materials, alone or combined, to design and build full-custom displacement and semi-displacement motor yachts in a broad variety of lengths from 93 feet to 90+ meters. These truly tailor made vessels embody the Owner’s idea of what a yacht should be, while retaining the Benetti family-feeling that is a natural expression of the finest Italian style and timeless elegance. This production capacity, united with world class quality, fanatical attention to detail and a perfect end result, have made Benetti a world leader and an Italian luxury yacht icon. Over the years the shipyard has grown and changed, not following but anticipating the times. Once the Fratelli Benetti boatyard was famous for building three-masted wooden schooners for commercial use. Today Benetti motor yachts turn heads at the world’s most famous and exclusive ports of call. Stylish, exclusive and extremely well-crafted, Benetti yachts are well established at the height of Italian Excellence. 140 years of history, close to 300 boats built, over 300,000 sq mt of production facilities at six shipyards in Italy (Viareggio, Livorno and Fano), 34 yachts under construction at present time including a 90-meter mega yacht. These facts and figures unambiguously demonstrate the momentum of Benetti’s growth and Clients’ unrestrained confidence in the brand.  It is a success story confirmed by the last “Global Order Book” that awarded Azimut|Benetti Group as the “largest builder in the world for custom yachts over 24 meters” for the thirteenth year in a row.

This is further confirmation of the success and strong presence of the Mangusta brand on the world panorama of luxury yachts. Since 2007, the year in which it was presented, this model has become an icon of and reference point on the world panorama: 9 units sold in fewer than 6 years tell of both how extraordinary and unique this Maxi Open Yacht is and the pride of a Group which has known how to look ahead and invest over the past few years.  Measuring 50 metres in length and with a top speed of 40 knots, Mangusta 165 is the fastest composite Maxi Open Yacht ever to be built. Unrivalled in terms of comfort, too, the volumes can be compared with those of a three deck yacht of the same size, something entirely unsuspected from the outside owing to her pure lines and sporty profile.

Riviera Record Game Fishing Results
Record game fishing results have been achieved at the 2013 Riviera Port Lincoln Tuna Classic, which was held on April 6 and 7. Event organiser Peter Teakle said 897 tuna were caught and released at this year’s tournament, which he believed was a provisional new world record. Fishing is over two days from 9am until 6pm on Saturday and 8am until 3pm on Sunday and takes place within a stipulated fishing zone to ensure a level and affordable playing field. This also helps to keep the tournament more social as competitors anchor up together in one of the secluded bays of the many islands located within the fishing zone. Each team consists of four anglers who may interchange with a skipper or deckhand. The Tuna Classic begins with a spectacular sail past and dramatic start as the lead boat, the historic Tacoma, the classic 60 year old Tuna trawler credited as being the founder of the Port Lincoln Tuna fishing industry sounds her horns, which indicates the commencement of the race to Memory Cove and the preparations to start fishing at 9am. Mr Teakle said his goal was to create a family friendly, professional and world-class game fishing tournament. The trophy for Champion Boat was awarded to the team on board Bryan Stokes’ Riviera 70 Enclosed Flybridge C’World for catching and releasing 125 tuna over 780 millimetres in length. Tournament qualifying Southern Bluefin Tuna must be 780 millimetres from the hook of the tail to the nose of the fish, which equates to about 10 kilograms or line matching fish. Aluminium rods are made to this length for ease of quick measurement and were supplied to each competing boat along with their tournament bag. Mr Stokes has competed in the Riviera Port Lincoln Tuna Classic since its inception eight years ago. He said it was a real thrill to land 125 tuna over the two day tournament. The Runner up trophy was awarded to the team on board Majessnik, a 42 foot Riviera for catching and releasing 107 fish. Champion male angler went to Elio Auciello on Majessnik for catching and releasing 43 fish. Runner up male angler went to Rick Tidswell on Riviera 42 Jazz2 for catching and releasing 37 fish. Champion female angler was awarded to Meghan Tapley on board Riviera 4000 Noble One for catching and releasing 29 fish. Runner up female angler went to Susan Tarbotton on board Riviera 56 Tari for catching and releasing 22 fish. Champion junior angler was awarded to Pamela Platt on board Noble One for catching and releasing 19 fish and runner up went to Bailey Godwin on board Tari Two for catching and releasing nine fish. Riviera’s director of brand and communications Stephen Milne said that Riviera was very proud of its long association with the Tuna Classic. Event organisers are already planning next year’s Riviera Port Lincoln Tuna Classic which will be held on the 3rd and 4th of May 2014 and look forward to another successful event.

Project: Azimut 80

Azimut presents an important project of a new 80 designed outside by long time standing architect Stefano Righini.  This new model is a project to be made in the Turin facility with the current largest build ever made here being the 72S.  So far Azimut has not mentioned if this new 80 will replace the 78 produced at the Viareggio yard, the smallest build coming from this facility.  Stefano Righini in this new Azimut 80  evolves the style the known Italian builder has pioneered since the advent of the 68 Plus in 1999 and since then on all the fifty to seventy feet models, of a flybridge yacht with low profile looks but yet spacious and innovative solutions both inside and outside. The interior layout designed by recent recruit Achille Salvagni of this new 80 will feature four double cabins, with all having en-suite heads and a very large owners stateroom to midships.  The main deck is characterized by a traditional layout of welcoming saloon, dining area, a separate galley in the standard plan but which is also available as an open version, and a day head.  The helm station offers a two seats plus an L-shaped dinette to port side.  Navigation wise the Azimut 80 will be build to CE A standards and is to be powered by MAN 1550hp engines with a top speed of 30 knots being estimated.  Stabilizing options which more the time passes seem to become more important is offered from Seakeeper gyros, or CMC fins.

New Model: Absolute 55 Fly

The Absolute 55 Fly is a further evolution of the 50 its first flybridge yacht launched in 2010, which became also available as 53 model at 2011. But to say this is actually so, you are taking away the good job the designers at the Italian company called Research Lab manage to make.  It is an amazing feat and shows huge market Intel from Absolute which makes the 55 Fly as one of the most interesting flybridge motor yachts available in the sixteen meters size today.  The Absolute 55 Fly actually takes only whats below the waterline from the its predecessors, whats above is completely new and fresh.  There are a lot of things to like in the Absolute 55 Fly from the astern galley, to the twin dinette very rare with the kitchen to aft, an aft deck with sunpad which looks like coming from a sports yacht, side door by the helm station to starboard, and three large cabins below of which a full beam owners stateroom. Power comes from a four different choice of Volvo engines one of which is a triple units, with Absolute continuing its huge support to the IPS pods now available on all the sixteen models of the Italian builder.

Project: Numarine 78 HTS

It seems an important moment for Turkish builder Numarine who has made the last couple of weeks showcasing some new projects set to make its line of Motor and Sport Yachts more complete.  This new 78 HTS project is based on the HT model of the same size presented a couple of years ago and is a design by a trio of famous architects; Tommaso Spadolini, Can Yalman, and Umberto Tagliavini.  The HTS adds the aggressive sports line with a sport bridge up top, a new trend which seems to be growing in demand from customers the more time passes.  The sport bridge on project so far has a central stair case which from the aft deck leads on top.  The bridge will feature a central jockey style helm, and four lounge pads to both left and right side of the helm.  Down below the 78 HTS offers a four double cabins interior with a full beam owners stateroom cabin.  A two berth crew cabin plus a small saloon and galley are also located below to midships behind the owners room which leaves the main deck all for the owners entertainment.  Power is twin MAN engines 1200 or optional 1550hp units, with 38 knots top speed estimated from the large choice.

New Model: Prestige 450 S

Prestige continues to reinvent its line with Italian designer Garroni extending and evolving the looks of what he shown a couple years ago with the new 60 flagship.  As it often happens a new top line model usually represents an upgrade and a change to all the line and Prestige has rightfully followed this philosophy with the 450 taking another step from the one year ago presented 500 series.  The Prestige 450 S is a fully enclosed hard top sport cruiser which bring some interesting features in this size from the astern galley on the main deck, to the two separate staircases for the two cabins; owners and guest to fore.  This last is very unusual for a cruiser measuring thirteen meters which adds privacy to the owners room to midships and separate its completely from the guest cabin to fore.  Certainly an appreciated feature if your cruise will involve guests.  Another two extra berths are available in the convertible saloon dinette on the main deck which is located to port side, opposite of the helmsman station, and a two person relaxing sofa.  Power is twin Volvo 370 or optional 435hp engines with the easy to use IPS pods propulsion.

Project: MJM 50z

MJM Yachts is a very interesting builder who came on attention in the last couple of years for the sweet traditional down East lobster boat lines of its models, high technological Kevlar construction, and very efficient running.  Now the US, Boston based boat builder embarks on a project of a new flagship the 50z which extends its five models line which starts at 29 by ten feet.  The 50z is scheduled to launch for next year 2014, and will be offered with two plans for the interior choice.  A single owners room to fore and a more open layout, or a second twin berth cabin to starboard replacing the dinette.  Interestingly both layouts are offered with twin shower heads.  Engine options are twin or triple Volvo or Yanmar 370, and 435hp.  Propulsion is stern drive or IPS pods.  The stern drive configuration is suggested to those who like to cruise in shoal draft making the 50z with less to meter of keel depth.  40 knots max speed and a cruise of 34 are estimated with a triple Yanmar 370hp couple to stern drives.

Ilver New Web Site

Ilver from Italy presents its new World wide web showroom. Ilver was founded in 1965 in Lissone, a town in the province of Monza near the city of Milan.  At first Ilver created a name for high quality small cruisers and runabouts. This was further extended in the eighties with Ilver growing over the forty feet size in this decade, and at the new millennium it presented a new 58 flagship model named Vista still at today in production.  The Vista along with the smaller Scuba where both innovative models when presented in the Genoa show of 2002 for the fact that they where the first large hard top sport yachts to have a layout with a galley up, and a lower deck reserved all for overnight cabin accommodation purposes. Today Ilver has a line of nine models starting with the since nineties produced seven meter Nyuma, and the 58 Vista flagship.  Ilver latest model is the recent redevelopment of the much appreciated Mirable now standing two feet larger.  But in real facts this model has been produced with small stylistic changes since 1992 as 39, then it became a 41 in 1999 and again changing in 2010 to the 42 model.  In Italy the Ilver Mirable has one of the strongest resale values thanks to its timeless classic lines and three cabins interior, something still as at today hard to find in a sport cruiser around the twelve meter mark.  Ilver's new website is available in Italian, English, Russian, and Chinese language and takes you round with the following buttons; Home, Mission, Ilver, Dealers, Range, Press, and Contact.  As is custom today Ilver has also its social media pages; Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, all linked from the website.

New Model: Ferretti 960

In the past days Ferretti Group’s Cattolica shipyard and the northern Adriatic coast town’s dock hosted the launch of the first hull of the Ferretti 960.  The launching ceremony was a highly exciting moment for all residents and, particularly, for the numerous Ferretti Group employees that worked on the design and construction of this new Ferretti Yachts’s flagship for months. This new model marks yet another step forward for the Group’s historical brand, which adds a highly prestigious new yacht to its already wide range: this is indeed the largest planing yacht built by the Italian brand in its forty years plus of history. Over the next weeks all technical activities RINA tests, sea trials, system and equipment tests, will be performed and onboard fitting-out operations will be completed. Ferretti 960  is characterised by an optimised interior and exterior layout. It is Ferretti Yachts’s first planing recreational craft featuring the master cabin forward on the main deck, and as many as four guest cabins, all equally sized and with equivalent furnishings and fittings, located on the lower deck and brightened by large open view windows in the hull. The layout also includes three crew cabins with reserved access from the galley, a solution normally found on larger yachts. The external profile sets a new trend in the design of large planing hulls: the glazing running along the entire main deck “cuts” the hull from stern to the extreme bow, contributing to a much lighter profile that ensures incredible interior brightness and endows the yacht with a very sporty look.  As regards performances, the new flagship comes in three different sets of MTU engines. The standard version has two 2218hp engines allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 27 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots. Two optional solutions include twin 2435, or 2638hp engines, respectively. The maximum speed with the more powerful version is 31 knots and cruise at 27 knots. Such an outstanding propulsion, as usual, goes hand in hand with the maximum comfort ensured by the Mitsubishi Anti Rolling Gyro system, capable of reducing rolling by over 50%.

Project: Viking 92 Convertible

Not so long ago many experienced tournament skippers felt a sportfish over seventy feet was on the cusp of being too large to effectively compete on the tournament trail. But the Viking 74 Convertible launched in May 2004 proved differently. Fast forward to the fall 2008 and Viking launched its 82 Convertible continuing the upward trend demonstrating beyond any doubt with over fifteen deliveries to date that the US builder hit another grand slam with its then new flagship. Now Viking approaches the threshold of another amazing achievement, the 92 Convertible, scheduled for a spring launch in 2014.  As is standard the new Viking to be flagship has a stunning profile with several motor yacht cues including dual mezzanine decks; one in the cockpit and the second on the main level after deck. The latter mezzanine offers both rear facing lounge seating, along with a second seating area and a table for al fresco dining. An outside galley and grilling area are included for added convenience and ambiance. The yacht’s interior is a showpiece of elegance and luxury. The seven meter beam not only opens the salon but transforms it into a majestic living room with built-in furniture and plush appointments like a 60-inch flat screen television that rises on a lift out of the teak cabinetry. An L-shape island in the galley complements the work area and all counter tops feature custom selected granite. A pair of walk-in pantries and a full day head are forward and characterize an excellent use of space. Nearby, a formal dining area accommodates eight guests.  The 92 Convertible has five guest cabins, each with its own private head and shower. The full beam master suite features a king size walk around bed, a walk-in closet, a dressing table, and his and her private facilities. Crew quarters are aft with access from the cockpit. The full beam area includes a head with a shower, a small galley area, and upper and lower berths in a private cabin.  Propulsion choices include offerings by Caterpillar and MTU.

Improve-it = Nord Star 37 Patrol

Following the demand on its flagship the 40 model, Nord Star decided to introduce a flybridge option for its 37 model.  The flybridge is reached from a staircase to port side of the aft deck, and features a central helm and an L-shaped settee behind it.  The flybridge makes a welcoming addition for those who like to drive more in an open air enviroment and adds also the benefit of an extra entairtainment area up top to use when the weather is fine.  The Nord West 37 Patrol is a traditional cruiser with some hints of pilot boat in its looks, and features a two cabin interior with sleeps five in two cabins, plus additional two more in the convertible saloon settee.  Engine choice is a max of 900hp, with twin Volvo 370 units and stern drive propulsion allowing for a max speed of 38 knots.

Project: Mulder 1800 Favorite

Mulder presents an important project of a new 1800 Favorite, extending the size of this line by two meters.  Since returned in 2010 to mark the Dutch builder seventieth birthday Mulder has delivered half a dozen of semi custom Favorites with designer Guido de Groot basing looks on the down East lobster boat lines.  The 1800 Favorite follows the theme of the smaller models from its layout to its hull shape in round bilge shape, and a variation of engines choices which offers the owner optimum usability for inland waterways or open seas.  The standard plan for the 1800 Favorite is a two cabins twin head layout with a galley bellow layout, but a three cabin version should be also in order.  The living is all located on the main deck.  Power is standard Volvo 330 up to 435hp in line shafts.  Top speeds of 25 and a 20 knots cruise are estimated with the larger engines choice.

New Model: Tiara 3900 Coronet

Presented as a project on the fall of 2012 the Tiara 3900 Coronet is the new flagship of this sport cruiser line from this well regarded US boat builder.  For the new Coronet flagship Tiara based itself on the very good looking 3900 Open and added some more distinct cruiser features.  In my opinion adding the votes on the look front. Still as all the Coronet, Tiara has a Tournament Fishing Package included in the 3900 dedicated for those who like to fish more in style.  On the accommodation format the 3900 Coronet offers incredible social aspects; starting from the large exterior with a nice aft deck featuring an L-shaped settee, and two person mezzanine opposite.  Up one step is the raised area with everything here being around the helm to starboard, which features a galley behind and an opposite L-shaped settee. Down below is as custom in the US an open plan layout which adds the feeling of space for the 3900 Coronet.  The features here are a double berth to fore, C-shaped sofa, L-shaped galley, and a separate shower head.  Power is twin Cummins engine choice; 480 or optional 550hp.

Project: Astondoa 72 GLX

Astondoa is showing innovative spirit in some of its recent designs from the recently presented Top Deck, but also in its Motoryacht line.  This is shown in the new 65 and 72 projects who show modern integrated hardtops and a reinvention of the foredeck area making this more a living place especially at anchor or in rest position.  The 72 GLX is named identical as one of the best selling models in this size from Astondoa produced from the 1998 till 2007 with that success being designed by the Nuvolari Lenard studio.   The new 72 GLX features a four guest cabins layout with the owners stateroom located to midships, and a crew cabin to aft. Other nice features are a huge tender garage to aft, and a saloon with an open galley plan.  Engines are twin MAN 1224 standard or optional 1360hp.  Speed is a max of 28 knots with the standard engines.

Project: Horizon RP102

Innovative design and new technology, at the talented hands of Dutch designer Cor D. Rover, has paved the way for Horizon to develop an exceptional Raised Pilothouse concept: the RP102. The Horizon RP102 project features a combination of fluid lines and modern proportions, large glass windows allow natural light to flow into the interior spaces, and her layout offers a symbiosis of owner, guest and service areas, creating the feeling of a much larger yacht. A full beam master stateroom is located on the forward main deck, complete with an en-suite bath. Equally impressive are the RP102's exterior areas; at the touch of a button, the RP102's Sky Terrace, a patented design by Rover, can increase the flybridge deck area by 20% without compromising the yacht's fluid design. A beach club forward of the swim platform offers a space ideal for enjoying the ocean view that is also protected from the sun.  Horizon utilized Computational Fluid Dynamics and scaled model tests to successfully develop the RP102 hull form, which provides 25% less fuel consumption at a 20-knot cruise speed than a conventional planning hull. Horizon RP102 concept design is answer to consumer demand, emphasizing luxury, safety and interior volume within a dual purpose, performance-oriented hull.

New Model: Sunseeker 80 Predator

It was more or less nineteen years ago that Sunseeker presented its first eighty footer the 80 Predator, considering how big its super yacht portfolio has become and the size increase of the British Poole based brand has increased, at the moment a new flagship 155 Yacht is in build that was an important move back then.  This new 80 Predator follows the name of that first Sunseeker super yacht with two generations of design difference and a confidence that today marks it as among the top semi producers in the eighty plus foot segment.  This new 80 Predator follows Sunseeker latest design stints of huge glass surfaces both above and below in the cabins area.  Her accommodation plan is a spacious traditional layout with a full beam midships owners stateroom, VIP suite to fore, and two guest cabins in between.  A galley is located below to port side in a separate conceived area, while a crew cabin with two berths is located to aft.  The living is all located on the main deck with a large lounging saloon to starboard, and a dining to port.  Power options are a varied choice from MTU which starts at 1550 and ends up to 2640hp with the large engine available only with Arneson surface drives set up.

New Model: Carver C34

A much awaited new Carver in my books, and also an interesting offer for customers looking in the ten meter flybridge motor cruiser segment, this is the C34.  One of the most interesting themes of this new Carver C34 is for sure the very European looks which also shows how this kind of style has become a World affair in recent years for flybridge cruisers and yachts.  Accommodation wise the Carver C34 offers an interesting plan with two cabins sleeping four; owners cabin to forward, and a twin berth guest cabin to starboard side at midships.  Extra two berths which bring the total to six are found in the convertible dinette which becomes an extra double bed.  The galley is located at the main deck and is in L-shaped form with the lower helm choice, or a bit larger in C-shape if one does not want the interior pilot station.  Other interesting spacious themes are the flybridge with a small sunpad to aft, and a well spaced C-shaped settee to port side opposite of the upper helm station.  Engines are a standard twin Mercruiser 300hp petrol gas, and a diesel option from Volvo with the same output.  Unlike most recent new offers the C34 goes to the tried and tested line shafts propulsion with a V-drive system which while adds a bit more to consumption can find the favour of experienced buyers due to known reliable this system brings.

Project: Absolute 64 Fly

Absolute present the project of the 64 Fly, an interesting follow up to its new 72 flagship presented past Summer 2012.  In this latest project the North Italian builder follows a lot of the themes it has shown in recent years from modern lines with large window surfaces especially noted on the main deck, and IPS pod drives for the propulsion.  Worth to note that IPS are currently used on all Absolute to a total of sixteen models.  Apart being among the first users of Volvo's IPS pods Absolute did distinct itself to a huge following for the drives. The Absolute 64 Fly will feature a four double cabin lower deck; some notes here are the full beam owners stateroom to midships, and a bunk berths fourth cabin.  A crew cabin is located aft.  The main deck of the Absolute 64 Fly will feature a single level flush deck minus for the pilot station area which is raised by one step. So far the galley seems to be located centrally and not astern as the new well praised 55 model.  Power is twin Volvo 800 or optional 900hp units, and as stated both choices come only with the IPS pod propulsion.

Project: Benetti Class 108 Tradition Supreme

The shape of things to come at Benetti as the builder showcases its upcoming model in its semi custom Class range the 108 Tradition Supreme.  This model is a further development of the 105 and previously 30M Tradition model.  Three decks characterize the second smallest Benetti a feature actually of all the models of the range even the entry level 93 Delfino. The 108 compared to the previous models it replaces has been interestingly reworked to offer guests a special view to the outside to the sea with swiveling balconies and large terrace windows clearly available on the main deck.  Here the most prominent new feature being the opening patio door in the saloon to starboard.  In all this Stefano Righini still manages to create that classic touch to the 108 Tradition Supreme.  Sleeping accommodation is a five double cabin layout with two central VIP suites at midships, and an owners stateroom on the main deck.  Three double crew cabins are located to fore.  Power is twin MAN engines with top speeds estimates at 13 knots.

Improve-it = Galeon 550 Fly

For those following Galeon it will come to no surprise that the renowned Polish builder presents a new wood trim option for its models, this time it is the turn for one of the 2012 novelties the 550 Fly.  Galeon this time around presents an ultra modern Wenge wood interior for the 550 Fly which was added with light colored leather mixed and brown bamboo inserts.  This option makes an interesting diversity to the dark walnut finish as shown in hull number one. Standing in the middle of its fleet which starts at 29 and ends with a 78 flagship the Tony Castro designed 550 Fly has seen itself as one of the most sought third generation Galeon for some important reasons.  First of all is the three double cabins lower deck with full beam owner room, second is the very nice main deck with its astern galley featuring a serious dining area to fore, and last is the full opening patio door which joins exterior with interior.  Power options for the Galeon 550 Fly start from Volvo 600 up to 900hp engines, with the smallest choice available only with IPS pod drives and the rest with shafts.

Project: Gulf 75 Exp

During the recently ended Dubai boat show Gulf Craft showcased the project of a new 75 Exp model.  The second in this new range which was presented last year with the 95.  The Exp range is a hybrid looking modern classic with some hints of US styling going into the overall looks.  This style looks more emphasized in the 75, then in the 95.   Some interesting features of the 75 seems to be the integrated hard top on the flybridge, the free fore deck, and an integrated staircase to the fly located exterior starboard side to midships.  Not much details is given on the interior but usually this size gives a four or three double cabins choices.  What we do know is that the owners room is located to midships thanks to one of the renderings.  Power is from twin MTU 1200hp engines.

Project: Queens Yachts 50 HT

Queens Yachts presents the project of the 50 HT.  This new project bases itself on hull lines of the Fly model presented in the fall of 2012.  The Queens 50 Hard Top is again a design of TDF studio from Milan Italy, and is a fully enclosed sport yacht with some interesting living solutions coupled to modern aggressive lines.  Customer satisfaction is the main selling point of the 50 HT available in two internal layouts both of which in three cabins and with full beam midships owners room, with the main difference in this being the position of the galley.  Latest trend of main deck and astern galley in configuration one, or below in between the cabins in the version two.  Power for the Queens 50 HT is twin Volvo 435hp with IPS pods, or 575 Cat engines with line shaft.

blogger - Open Yacht?

Sometimes looking at new designs first time sends always emotions running but after the news has passed over me I do like to come back to my senses and weigh up the good and the bad.  So if you go to the many boat shows one can easily see that the open sport yacht over fifty feet is for the most part in today lost.  What do I mean?
That if you like life in the open most of the offers today look like flybridge boats but have an opening hard top replacing the fly deck with not much place to enjoy life outside in the open air.  Some sport yacht have also smaller outside areas then to a comparable flybridge boat of the same length, and that is excluding the fly deck.  Is not a sport yacht meant to be a Summer using high season period boat.
Personally I am a fan of the hard top sport yacht concept but I think in recent years the market has lost balance on what an open should look and offer to the customer.  That's not to say all major builders have sold to this, and some of them quickly changed direction while others have never actually gave to it.  Still the majority of the builders is still in pursuit of creating the have everything enclosed hard top without a flybridge.  Wait, yes now a bridge although smaller is also being offered in some fifty feet plus boats.  Do not flybridge boats already offer this?
Anyways the 2013 season is here, and in the Mediterranean sunny days are just becoming longer. Finally!
