Project: MJM 4z

MJM presents the project for the 4z model with inboard stern drive Volvo engines. Launched in the second half of 2022 with outboard power, this traditional cruiser has been in a lot of talks thanks to its asymmetric design which offers the comfort of a centre console to that of a cruise capable cruiser.  Thanks to this design by Zurn the MJM 4z offers a a four berth accommodation in two areas, including of which is a separate shower head to starboard and in between the sleeping areas. The living and the galley in the MHM 4z is all located on the main deck under the pilot fully enclosed hard-top area.  Power numbers for the diesel stern drive Volvo power are not announced, although the MJM 4z hull number one which was powered by twin Mercury 600hp, which is the larger engine option available reached a top speeds of 52 knots.

Project: MJM 42

MJM present the project for the 42, a uniquely styled Carolina DownEast inspired cruiser and currently its largest in size model on offer, although the American shipyard did offer the 50z launched in 2014 and the 53z the outboard variant till 2021.  The MJM 42 is designed around couples living aboard; with all-weather hard-top, and all-conditions hull capability.  The MJM 42 will offer a galley-up design for all around views while entertaining and socializing, even underway, which coupled to the indoor/outdoor pilothouse opens for the enjoyment of your surroundings or closes for a climate-controlled protection area.  The lower deck of the MJM 42 will offer a forward master cabin, a dinette, and a cabin with a French berth at midships.  The MJM 42 is to be powered by both outboards twin Mercury 600hp, or stern drives diesel inboards twin 400hp or 440hp engines.  Top speeds are estimated up to 45 knots with the twin 600hp outboards.

New Model: MJM 50z

The new MJM 50z was introduced at the 2014 Newport International Boat Show. Hull one titled Zing featured the triple 435hp Volvo with IPS600 pod drives. Top speeds with this set up is 38 knots. Without steadying sails, all powerboats roll the MJM's less than most due to their low center of gravity. But, the single biggest opportunity for improving comfort afloat on a powerboat is to eliminate rolling. The 50z is the first yacht to offer this leading edge technology as standard equipment. Introduced five years ago, over 1,500 Seakeeper units are now in use worldwide.  The 50z is built lighter and stronger in the USA of pre-preg epoxy, Kevlar, E-Glass and Corecell to exceed ISO Category A Ocean requirements, the highest reating for seaworthiness issued by IMCI, the International Marine Certification Institute in Brussels. And, its sleek profile and low center of gravity make it more safe, seaworthy and fun to drive. Large boats can be intimidating to operate. But, you can park a 50z solo, thanks to 360° visibility, joystick docking and a single level deck from the wheel aft to cockpit side-opening doors onto a floating dock. The MJM 50z offers the best of both worlds: entertaining space for family picnics or cocktail parties on a single level deck. Plus, hospitable staterooms for live-aboard cruising comfort not just sleeping cabins below decks. The 50z is available with two layouts. standard version is a single master stateroom forward, with dinette and galley to midships. The optional replaces the L-shaped saloon to starboard with a cabin featuring a double french berth.

Project: MJM 50z

MJM Yachts is a very interesting builder who came on attention in the last couple of years for the sweet traditional down East lobster boat lines of its models, high technological Kevlar construction, and very efficient running.  Now the US, Boston based boat builder embarks on a project of a new flagship the 50z which extends its five models line which starts at 29 by ten feet.  The 50z is scheduled to launch for next year 2014, and will be offered with two plans for the interior choice.  A single owners room to fore and a more open layout, or a second twin berth cabin to starboard replacing the dinette.  Interestingly both layouts are offered with twin shower heads.  Engine options are twin or triple Volvo or Yanmar 370, and 435hp.  Propulsion is stern drive or IPS pods.  The stern drive configuration is suggested to those who like to cruise in shoal draft making the 50z with less to meter of keel depth.  40 knots max speed and a cruise of 34 are estimated with a triple Yanmar 370hp couple to stern drives.

Improve-it = MJM 36z Downeast

Presented in 2011, the 36z Downeast by MJM comes with important updates and changes for the 2013 build year.  The improvements for the 36z Downeast start to stern with a new stepped transom featuring a central easy to operate central walk-in door.  Down below is also space for more tweaking now having an option to what regards the shower head which can be ordered with a glass enclosure.  Founded in 2002 MJM has been very much acclaimed in recent years for its efficient hulls, and suberbly built down East lobster boat looking traditional cruisers, which also seem not to hurt the wallet as most of the competition.  Some MJM models unlike most of the competition in this style of boat are powered by Volvo stern drives, with the 36z power choices starting from twin Volvo 170hp up to 300hp engines.

Project: MJM 36z Express

Presenting its 36z model in its Downeast version, MJM now presents the more sports looking Express project.  Similar down East hull lines capture this new 36z Express which feature more aggressive looks up top, mostly coming in the design of the hard top and the windshield protecting the helm and the cockpit from the elements.  The rest is all coming from MJM hull with a good fuel efficient shape below waterline, and a high technology low weight construction.  The internal layout has the same options of Vee shaped berth to fore, or double berth plus separate head, and galley.  Power choices are for twin Volvo stern drives with standard being 170hp, and 220 or 300hp units offered as option.
