Mulder in the Netherlands has started construction on a new 36-metre motoryacht, the yard’s largest project to date and the second to be built to the exacting new LY3 standard. Having successfully delivered a 28.65-metre Mulder Voyager and the 34-metre custom-built Solis in 2015, this new 36-metre project is the next step forward for a Dutch yard that is making significant waves in the global superyacht world. The fast displacement super yacht will be built with full RINA MCA LY3 certification and have a transatlantic range. Following a successful partnership on an earlier build, Mulder suggested to the client that Claydon Reeves Design and International Yacht Register serve as owners’ representative. The naval architecture will be taken care of by Van Oossanen, ensuring the finest sailing characteristics. The new yacht will feature a bespoke modern exterior with a sleek aluminium construction and a continuous window line which culminates in a contemporary plumb bow. The design will feature the Van Oossanen patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) to ensure comfortable sailing and fuel economy at all speeds. This will not compromise performance as the twin 1147hp engines will ensure a maximum speed of 17 knots. A full beam design will allow the volume and privacy in the owners area to be maximized. The slender, fluid design will go against the current fashion of ballooning beams, as the hull will measure no more than eight meters at its widest point. The slender hull and long waterline will together ensure outstanding sea-keeping capacities in rough seas, enhancing comfort for owner and guests alike. Five spacious cabins on board will accommodate up to ten guests. The exceptional features of the full beam master suite will be heightened by dedicated access to a private seating area in the bow, a tranquil nook from which to contemplate the horizon. An impressive saloon, dining room and bar area will be located on the main deck, with floor to ceiling windows providing panoramic views all around whilst also flooding the interior with lots of natural light. The dining experience will be enhanced by the addition of a folding side balcony, which will bring seascape panoramas right to the table. Further entertainment space can be found outside the saloon, where the large outdoor cockpit area will provide plenty of shaded al fresco seating and dining possibilities. The flybridge/sun deck above the beach club will include generous seating, lots of sun pads, a whirlpool bathtub with room for eight and a comfy dining place, a perfect backdrop to relaxing, sunbathing and socializing. For those who wish to be closer to the water, the 36-metre design will incorporate a beach club that is substantially larger than what one would normally expect on a yacht of this size, with further seating and a small day head. This new 36-metre motoryacht is slated for completion in the summer of 2017.

Project: Ferretti 450
Ferretti Group's 2016 will be a year of important novelty and expansion. This can be easily noticed since it's headline Ferretti yacht brand has already announced two important upcoming projects. One project which will be of great importance is the 450, a completely new upcoming entry level model for Ferretti. It's been a while since Ferretti build a sub fifty feet model, and the waiting for customers is now over. Designed by Zuccon the 450 follows design stints as seen on the well received 550, and in my opinion will also be quite a handful for the major competitors. The 450 indeed will feature a full beam midships owners cabin, and a choice of a standard three double cabin layout; third bunk cabin, or optional two large staterooms arrangement. The 450 will also feature a very interesting main deck, with an L-shape astern galley serving both aft or internal saloon easily. Flybridge will be usual Ferretti layout of a back located forward facing C-shaped dinette, helm to port, and sun-pad to starboard. Some details which we have seen on new Ferretti will also be happily featured in the 450, see sliding up down bathing platform, while good to the see that part of the brand DNA as the importance of maximizing waterline length has not been forgotten. The 450 will come with twin Cummins 425hp or optional 480hp units. Speed will be a max of 31 knots with the large engine option.

blogger - All About Existing
2016 has started with a bang, and while the best of times for the nautical industry are still ahead, we are seeing notice who will be the protagonist in the coming expanding years. The market has become more of a globalized one, with World brands taking a place in the heart of customers.
What will be the most different from the market of five six years ago is that today the market has become one of global entity, with some names taking World fame. The others who used to enjoy a fame in the home market will have to see what there position will be in the coming couple years. For them at the moment it is all about rebuilding and existing, making know to your customers you exist and ready to go.
For the first months of 2016 in fact we have seen a couple of restarts from Canados to that of Fairline, and other companies are showing they are still there to show there part. See Rizzardi who participated at the Nauticsud Naples boat show with an Incredible model.
It will be interesting times ahead, especially for Europe's regional builders who usually are known for making very interesting semi custom products. A part of this will also come from customers, if most buyers will be new it will be a safe choice they will go to the brand they or the friend knows.
Still not opening yourself to other possibilities might be a lost chance to have a better product, and one which fits your criteria more.

Monthly News - February 2016
Bavaria came away from boot 2016 with a new sales record. At precisely 6pm on the Sunday, the last day of boat show, the 120th order for a Bavaria was signed. Over the nine days of the boat show, more then 70,000 customers and prospective customers visited the twenty displayed catamarans, sailing yachts and motor yachts on the Bavaria World stand, which covered an exhibition space of 3,800 square meters in Hall 17 and Hall 15. "The boot 2016 trade fair exceeded our own expectations. Our goal was to sell over 100 yachts, like last year. With 120 catamarans, sailing yachts and motor yachts sold directly at the trade fair, plus the follow-up business we are expecting, the Bavaria team has once again demonstrated its strengths. The new Bavaria World stand design, with sailing yachts and motor yachts at one stand in Hall 17 and our Nautitech 40 Open in Hall 15, was praised by our customers and our dealers and certainly contributed to our success", summed up Lutz Henkel, CEO of Bavaria. And the Bavaria World program was remarkable. Right from the first Saturday, 500 VIP customers were invited to the Bavaria World Night, with international artists. The boat show premieres and novelties were introduced at five press conferences. The new Cruiser 34 and the Cruiser 51 Style were presented to the public for the first time as world premieres, while the Cruiser 46 Style was on display for the first time at a German trade fair. The semi displacement motor yacht Bavaria E40, which had previously only been known by the name Project DA10, was given its new product name in Düsseldorf. The E in the name stands for the English terms Economic, Ecological, Exploring, Efficient and Emotional. The first prototype will be ready in spring 2016, but visitors were able to preview the new motor yacht with 3D glasses at the boot trade fair. Each day, there was also a great crowd at the Bavaria Catamarans stand in Hall 15. The Nautitech 40 Open luxury 3-cabin owner's version on display there was one of the most-visited catamarans at the trade fair, with several hundred viewing appointments. At the end of the boot boat show, Lutz Henkel assured everyone that there would indeed be a bigger Bavaria World at boot 2017.
Canados New Ownhership
Iconic Rome based shipyard Canados has been sold on December 23rd, 2015 to Mr. Michel Karsenti. Canados was founded in 1946 and has successfully delivered over 700 yachts in sizes up to 36 meters. Karsenti had more than 12 boats sold and produced at Canados in the past few years including his own 2014 new brand, Oceanic Yachts, that started business using Canados as a building contractor. Karsenti’s involvement with Canados has been a long-term ongoing relationship. Having built yachts from 21 to 80 meter all around the world, he has always been fascinated by the know-how, unique craftsmanship, knowledge and passion found at Canados. His point of view about what makes Canados such a unique shipyard within the global yachting industry is best expressed with his quote: “I’m fascinated, year after year, visit after visit at Canados to still have the same magical feeling of how strong maritime traditions are embedded in workers DNA. I cannot say if this is linked to the 70 years the shipyard has been in business, or due to the fact Canados is located in the world’s richest region in terms of architecture, style and history Rome is known for, but I can surely say that the same feeling is shared by all the clients visiting us. I’ve truly seen incredible technical achievements performed by this unique team of craftsmen!” About the future of Canados, Karsenti quoted:“As you can imagine, we did not acquire such an iconic shipyard as the result of a caprice! It’s been a long process and a well thought move. For now, we are busy taking the first steps renovating and putting up-to-date the production facilities as well as the two marinas that are part of the shipyard. We will soon introduce the market with new products. I also want to mention that our aim is to continue building “haut couture” and surely not go for high production numbers.”

Christian Grande comments: “I am honored and confidant in this new partnership. Ferretti Security and Defense Launch
The new division of Ferretti Group was presented 3rd February in Rome during a press conference held at the Temple of
Hadrian, when Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, illustrated the new project to the Minister of the Interior, Hon.
Angelino Alfano, and the senior representatives of the Armed Forces and of the Government who attended the event.
With major investments worth around 50 million Euros in product research and development, already leading to 6 new
models being added to the range in 2015 and a total of 27 new products due within 2017, the Group is expanding the
scope of its operations and aims to meet the growing demand for innovative vessels offering a cutting edge performance
and state of the art technological solutions, engineered to cater for all of the potential scenarios that may be encountered
at sea.
Ferretti Group is confirming its expansion and development plans with additional investments in research, development
and manufacturing operations, all of which are carried out in Italy.
FSD has the benefit of the considerable production capacity available at Ferretti Group’s 6 boatyards located across
Italy, as well as the superior know-how of its resources in terms of technology and quality that have been amassed since
it was founded 50 years ago.
These solid foundations put Ferretti Group in an ideal position to build vessels in steel, aluminium and composite
materials that are specifically designed for applications such as Search and Rescue missions or Patrol, Surveillance,
Anticrime and Antiterrorism operations. The first “Fast Patrol Vessel” built by Ferretti Security and Defence, called the “FSD195”, is a high performance, 20m
vessel capable of reaching speeds in excess of 50 knots and with a range of over 400 miles
The “FSD195” has RINA FPV and CE approvals, and is already being built with the first launch scheduled for the coming
summer.
“This Government has always believed in the ship building industry. It is vitally important for the Economy and did not
deserve to be penalised by the policies implemented by previous governments.
FSD - Ferretti Security & Defence is an important venture and represents a major challenge for an Italian company like
Ferretti Group, that has decided to make full use of its know how and enter this market, competing with companies from
the public and private sectors.
Ferretti Group was not afraid to rise to the challenge of taking on this international context.
As a yachtsman and a lover of the sea, and as the Minister of the Interior, I would like to wish “happy sailing” to the new
vessels built by Ferretti Security & Defence.”
“The Group’s superior expertise in terms of R&D, know-how relating to technology and innovation, and the industrial
capacity we have developed at our boat yards, will also benefit the new FSD Division, founded by the Group to diversify
its operations and enter the field of Security and Defence.” - said Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group.
“FSD’s mission is to develop vessels with a high technology content, whose performance and efficiency meet the
challenging demands faced by those answering the vitally important need for surveillance and who guarantee the safety
of our waters, an issue that has always been associated with all of the operations undertaken by our Group.”

Riviera Richest Ever Price Pool
Entries are now being invited for the 2016 Riviera Port Lincoln Tuna Classic the largest offshore game fishing tournament in South Australian waters. From humble beginnings with three boats battling it out for a case of Crown Lager, the two-day Classic is now in its 10th year and is hotly contested among experienced anglers, with over $16,000 in hand-crafted trophies on offer across 10 competition categories. Philanthropist and founder Peter Teakle has also just announced the richest prize pool ever for this year’s event from April 1-3, 2016. In addition to taking home major honours, the four members of the 2016 Champion Team will also secure a two-day fishing adventure with legendary Riviera skipper Captain Bob Jones, worth some $7000. Entries close at 6pm on Friday, March 4. Mr Teakle said the trophies for 2016 will once again be ‘a real work of art’. R Marine South Australia’s dealer principal Paul Harrop said the Riviera-sponsored Tuna Classic was a terrific follow-up to the immensely popular Port Lincoln Easter Experience the previous week. Susan hauled in 19 of the feisty southern blue fin tuna before returning them to the water in good condition under the competition’s strict catch-and-release rules. Capt Bob Jones who has 32 Cairns marlin seasons under his belt last year skippered the Riviera 56 Enclosed Flybridge The Battler, which won the Champion Boat honours. Mr Teakle said the tournament was privileged to have outstanding partners, including 2015 Australian Marine Industry Exporter of the Year Riviera as the naming rights sponsor, with Shimano, Club Marine, Lexus of Adelaide and Yamaha Marine all supporting various categories. The Marina Hotel in Port Lincoln also provides ongoing support with accommodation and sponsoring the briefing night on Friday, April 1.
Sanlorenzo Transaltantic Joruney
Confident in their new vessel's ability to satisfy the above performance following the yacht's launch and extensive testing - to which her new crew participated together with the Owner's technical consultants the Owner did not hesitate to attempt a winter Atlantic crossing as a maiden voyage in order to enjoy the new 460Exp in the warmer Caribbean climate. This challenge was welcomed by the Owner who wish to put his new yacht's exploring credentials to the test. A rather unusal decision when considering a new crew with only a few weeks to prepare and a yacht that, despite being studied, built and tested to the best levels of the industry, remains nevertheless a prototype. Usually similarily sized yachts are loaded on one of the many ships that transport yachts to every corner of the ocean. This is due to their lower range and the fact that they are not considered adequate for an ocean crossing, or simply as a matter of convenience. On the other hand, Sanlorenzo 460Exp boasts a transatlantic range as well as the necessary reliability and seaworthiness allowing her to cross the Atlantic on her own bottom. In fact, it was to attempt such challenging crossings that she was developed and built. Only a few hours following the delivery celebrations, Moka departs for her maiden voyage: the crew consists of 8 members in addition to the Captain. On December 11th Moka leaves the port of Viareggio towards Palma de Mallorca, which she reaches on December 13th, following 500 miles through the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Gulf of Lion that do not hold back on the first waves of a long navigation. In Palma, capital of the largest of the Balearic Islands, the crew loads spares and equipment, as well as the bulk of the supplies required for the journey. For now, Moka is comfortable in a friendly sea. On December 21st, taking advantage of a break in the weather, Moka departs towards Gibraltar, the gateway into the Mediterranean. Another two days of navigation to cover 450 miles. On the same day as the arrival in Gibraltar, having topped up her fuel tanks, Moka finally sails into the Atlantic Ocean. The next stop will be in the Canaries. The season is not ideal to take on this part of the Ocean where Moka meets the offshoots of a depression which has its center further North West and which is offloading its long and imposing waves on the African coast. Sea and wind on the beam however do not create worries and Santa Cruz di Tenerife is reached on Christmas day following 750 miles at sea. The stopover in Santa Cruz enables the refilling of fuel tanks and the loading of the last fresh supplies before the longest leg of the journey. Then Moka has to sail 2700 miles before reaching her next stop on the American continent, the half French half Dutch Saint Martin. On December 28th Moka departs from Tenerife. The prevailing waves are from the Alisée and the days go by quietly thanks to Moka's extraordinary sound insulation; her crew hardly notice the 2,600hp developed by her Caterpillar engines or the noise and vibration caused by ancillary equipment. Occasionally wind and sea intensify, either from the beam or the stern, however the steering and stabilization systems are effective in keeping them in check. It is January 6th the Epiphany - and the Captain catches a glimpse of the dark landmass of St. Martin on the horizon. Moka has achieved her Ocean crossing without issues or concerns. With one less crew member, disembarked in St Martin, Moka is already back at sea on January 7th and sailing towards West Palm Beach in Florida. She still has to cover 1,100 miles, over a third of the Atlantic crossing, passing the British Virgin Islands and through the channel between Cuba and the Bahamas. On January 10th, Florida's luxurious city welcomes Moka to her waters. Following over 5,600 of navigation, a month at sea, of which 19 whole days of sailing at the average speed of 12.5 knots, Moka does not show any sign of wear and moreover she has not experienced any serious issue. The hull, equipment and machinery have not been affected in the least by the long navigation and unrelenting sea.

Hatteras New Web Site
World famous yacht builder Hatteras presents its new virtual World wide web showroom. North Carolina's Hatteras was founded in 1959 by Willis Slane, and in March of the following year launched its first model a 41 foot twin cabin sportfish christened Knit Wits designed by Jack Hargrave. It broke tradition at the time for being the first boat produced with fiberglass in this size. Testimony to the quality of Hatteras and the good choice of fiberglass the Knit Wits is as today at a near to fifty years still in service, and was recently refitted to mark a showing in the 2013 Fort Lauderdale boat show. Two years after the launch of Knit Wits, Hatteras followed it with a second model the 41 Double Cabin, this time of a motor cruiser style. In 1967 Hatteras due to increasing demand for its boats added a second factory along the one in High Point, in the coastal town of New Bern also in North Carolina, this in 1997 replacing totally the original premises. Innovation was always part of Hatteras DNA not only in the beginning but during all its current story introducing a number of firsts like the quick-disconnect device in 1980, first production builder to use five bladed propellers in 1985, using integrated propeller tunnels in fifty feet plus yachts, and the convex hull as introduced on the 54 Convertible in 2002. After Slane Hatteras featured various owners over its story which included AMF, Genmar, and Brunswick in 2001. Last year 2013 in Summer, Brunswick sold to Versa Capital Management. The current line up from North Carolina's most famous boat builder offers eleven models in three ranges: Motor Yachts, Convertibles, and Express. The entry level model is the 45 Express introduced in the fall of 2014, flagship is the Summer 2013 launched 100 Raised Pilothouse, while the latest new model is the 70 Motor Yacht. The new Hatteras web site takes you around with the following buttons: Models, Experience, Request, Our Story, and Find a Dealer. Hatteras also features its social hubs; Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Pinterest with button links located at the bottom of the page.

New Model: Azimut 66 Flybridge
At the Düsseldorf boat show 2016, held in the last week of January Azimut premiered the new 66 Flybridge, again an example of the ability to innovate that has made the Italian yacht builder a World leader. The 66 is part of the Flybridge range, the most classic and long standing of Azimut’s collections, and the one which has seen the most important renewal of stylistic and technical content over the past years and decades, always making the Italian builder a leader with the innovation it brought to the flybridge motor yacht. The process of renewal of the range began with the Azimut 80 in 2013, to continue with the 50 in 2014 and the recent 72, unveiled in September. And so the team of Azimut technicians has been faced with the difficult task of producing a new twenty meter motor yacht combining all the innovations appearing in the most recent models of the new collection, a process that has transformed the Azimut 66 into a true icon representing the entire range. Harmonious lines of the 66, designed by long standing since 1990's Azimut designer Stefano Righini, with the hallmark shark’s fin shaped side window, the particularly spacious elongated flybridge and the fore deck area transformed into an exclusive lounge. The carbon fibre superstructure makes the vessel considerably lighter and increases its interior volume. Designer Carlo Galeazzi, who worked on the interiors of the Azimut 66 with the shipyard’s styling office, not only came up with the usual refined decor but focused his attention on the need to optimize use of space, obtaining extra storage space in the already ample interior volumes to make an even more convenient motor yacht.

Project: Cruisers 54 Cantius
It's been an interesting turn around for Cruisers in recent times, with the new flagship 60 Cantius designed by Facheris fully embracing European style design. The Cantius range showed up in 2010 with the 41 and since then this has been the point of reference from Cruisers. Now the US builder sets its game up again and introduces a smaller sister to the flagship, with the project of the 54 Cantius. Like the 60 and all Cantius for that matter, the 54 is a fully enclosed open hard top sport yacht with patio door. The 54 has a standard layout of three cabins; VIP suite to fore, third bunk cabin to starboard, and a full beam owners room at midships with a very large sized walk in wardrobe. An option is available to change the third cabin with a lounge sofa. Power for the Cruisers 54 Cantius come from twin Volvo 725hp with IPS pod drives propulsion.

Mario Amati 1933 - 2016
Mario Amati, unforgettable founder of Cantieri Navali di Roma, Itama, which he established in Rome in 1969, has passed away Saturday 20th February at the age of 83. Mario Amati was a brilliant designer, and the innovator of a unique style of iconic sport cruisers and yachts. Amati was also a technical innovator having been the inventor to launch the hull integrated underwater exhaust system in 1981. Open yachts designed by those who love the sea for those who adore it, the Itama brand name recalls the surname of the founder, read backwards in the sea. The big fiberglass open models which started with the 38 in 1980 immediately became popular as cult objects owing to their elegance and simplicity of lines, the reliability of their technologies, their strong character and their precise stylistic imprint. Mario Amati sold a big part of Itama to the Opera fund of Bulgari in 2001, who then sells the brand name to Ferretti Group in end 2004.

New Launch: Wim Van der Valk 36.80m Hull no. WV0106
Van der Valk Shipyard in the Netherlands has launched the 36.80-metre Santa Maria T, part of its Continental Four range. The largest trawler yacht built by Van der Valk to date, she represents the first of a new generation of designs created in partnership with Guido de Groot. This new and currently large Wim Van der Valk also showcases a brand-new two-axis fin anti-roll damping system that provides stabilization underway and at zero speed. The Continental Four series embodies a style that is classic, timeless yet clearly distinctive. Van der Valk took great care to ensure the best possible sailing and sea keeping qualities for this design, including an original round-bilge steel hull. Built to endure the toughest weather conditions, the 36.80 meter Continental Four has a large fuel capacity that ensures a transatlantic range. She is a full displacement motor yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure; an all-aluminium fast-displacement version of the Continental Four is also available. Both the exterior and interior of the large Continental Four were fully customized to her owner’s wishes. Entering the aft deck from the winding staircase it is clear that this is a proper super yacht. The aft deck itself is spacious and contains an eight-person seating area with table as well as a small pantry with sink and refrigerator. A four-way fold-able stainless steel door links the aft deck with the main saloon. Exemplifying a striking art-nouveau interior style, this area is characterized by some fine detailing. The mahogany woodwork is enhanced with Pacific madrona burl inlays, solid herringbone flooring, embossed alcantara paneling on walls and ceilings, indirect lighting, and perfectly matching artwork. The professionally equipped galley includes all the items a chef could need. The corridor on the starboard side offers access to the day head, the captain's office and the forward helm station. The three-meter dashboard is beautifully upholstered with green top grain leather and equipped with the latest Simrad navigation equipment. A two-person settee on each side of the dashboard allows guests to enjoy the same forward views as the captain. The wheelhouse is fitted with a side door on each side. An upholstered spiral staircase provides access to the lower deck area. This section was designed exclusively for the owner and his guests. Fifty per cent of the total accommodation space is taken up by the owner's quarters. The main stateroom is located amidships and features a bed upholstered entirely in leather, as well as a huge walk-in wardrobe, office, lounge and ensuite bathroom. The latter is finished entirely in two marble tones – green and off-white – and features a cast iron bathtub. The remainder of the accommodation deck is taken up by three guest cabins – a double VIP suite in the bow, a twin guest cabin to port, and a twin queen-sized bunk bed cabin to starboard. All of the guest cabins have their own private bathroom, also finished in two different tones of marble. The crew premises aft comprise three cabins with direct access to the engine room and lazarette, a spacious galley, a crew mess and two bathrooms. Boasting a considerable engine room, the current Wim van Der Valk flagship is powered by twin Volvo 651hp engines which can be walked around. The Volvo's equipped on the 36.80 meter Continental Four come with a rating 1 continuous duty certificate, meaning they can perform 24/7 without a single stop. Other equipment of note aboard include the side boarding ladder with side dock for mooring a tender, hydraulic lazarette hatch, hydraulic swim ladder and customized and widened hydraulic passerelle. Her flybridge can be accessed from both inside and outside via stairs on the aft deck. At almost twenty metes in length, the fly-bridge itself is huge. Everything needed for warm days in the sun can be found upstairs: a full aluminium hardtop, two spacious dining/lounge areas, a kitchen/wet bar with refrigerators, ice maker and a barbecue, an area dedicated to sun beds, and a crane with a capacity of 1200 kg for launching the custom 6.40-meter carbon fibre Beachlander tender.

Project: Carver C50 Command Bridge
It's been an interesting design evolution for Carver since the builder launched the contemporary looking C34. Some models make a design turn around for a builder, and the C34 when launched in 2013 did just that for Carver. Since then the range has all become similar in looks to this break through model, with the five models all representing a further next evolution to the C series. The latest new C50 Command Bridge from Carver is a spacious yacht with a large three double cabin interior. Apart the spaciousness, the C50 also impresses for its layout, see private entrance to the full beam owners cabin. It also impresses even more when one sees the dimensions of the C50 Command Bridge, short of fifteen meters in length, and less to five meters in beam. Power options are also versatile starting from small standard 480hp, to optional 600 and 715hp Cummins engines.
