Dalla Pieta New Web Site

Dalla Pieta from Venice, Italy presents its new web site.  Dalla Pieta was started in 1949 when Bepi Dalla Pieta builds his first boat, but it will be ten years later to this when the first establishment is opened on the Giudecca island in Venice.  The first builds of Bepi Dalla Pieta are outboard sport boats from four to seven meters named; Rio, Laguna, and Ionio and these are soon followed by other inboard models; Adriatico, Tirreno, and Pacifico.  Thanks to its Hunt inspired deep Vee hulls various Dalla Pieta models have success in many competitions and soon the name is associated with good sea keeping, so the company launches the revolutionary Manta a boat fully dedicated to racing.  In the seventies Dalla Pieta due to more clients demand moves its premises to Marghera where it can build larger craft up to fourteen meters.  In the eighties comes the transfer of ownership to the sons of Bepi; Gianni and Giorgio who expand to a new production facility in Fusina-Malcontenta in 1987, switching all production to fiberglass, following the debut of the DP6 in 1986, which is followed with the the 28 and 37 Altair sport cruisers.  This is followed by the 43, the 52 Asterion flybridge motor yacht, and the very revolutionary for the early nineties 43 and 55 Al Na'Ir fully enclosed hard top models.  Both the Al Na'Ir featured a patio door and an opening canopy capsule style hard top which was ahead of its time.  In 2000 Andrea Mevorach buys Dalla Pieta, and brings important organizational changes with Michele Cazzanti head of the company sided along Giorgio, and engineer Fausto Colombi coming from Riva and Sarnico yards taking responsibility of building. This new energy gives huge growth to Dalla Pieta in the period 2002 to 2007, stopped only as the 2008 Big Recession hits the World and the yachting sector at the fall of that year.  In 2010 following a period under administration Dalla Pieta is purchased by Jian Yong Zhu and Millennium Marine company who gives the helm to Franco Nocera and Giovan Battista Penzo, both part of the Venice brand recent history, with this experience lasting about five years, as the Chinese ownership seems confused.  In 2022 Giorgio Dalla Pieta along with other investors from the Veneto region buys back the Dalla Pieta name in 2022.  Today Dalla Pieta offers three sport yacht models, all in project stages from fifteen to 26 meters; and start with the DP 50 HT Re-Evoluzione and go to the DP 86 HT Re-Evoluzione.  Dalla Pieta new web site is available in Italian and English language and takes you around with the following buttons; Home, Mission, Yachts, Refitting, and About.

4 Saved as Pershing Yacht Goes Ablaze in Erdek, Turkey

Four boaters were saved as a sixteen meter Pershing yacht titled Illusion went ablaze in Erdek, Balikesir, to the South of the Marmara sea, Turkey at 17:30 of Saturday 26 July.  The sport yacht was reported to be returning to the harbour when for an unknown reason it went ablaze.  A ro-ro vessel first intervened for the blaze, as the four boaters jumped into the water and were collected and rescued by the Turkish Coast Guard.  The yacht was considered a total loss from the fire, although it was saved from sinking.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The sport yacht in this fire is a Pershing 52 as designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced from 2000 to 2004 in about thirty units.  The 52 was a a replacement to the Pershing 54, and was replaced by the Pershing 50.

Thunder Storm Grounds Sea Ray Yacht in Jewfish Key, Florida

A Sea Ray sport yacht of sixteen meters in length with five persons onboard ended atop a sand bar in Jewfish Key Island in Longboat Key, Florida at about 15:00 hours of Friday 25 July. The yacht was reported to have dragged anchor, during a sudden thunder storm which hit the area. TowBoatU.S Florida Gulf Coast Captain Ken assisted the yacht and towed it to deep waters. Following the removal the yacht was able to move with it's own power. No injuries and probably also no damage was reported, as the yacht ended on a soft sand bar. This story was reported on Captain's Ken, Florida Gulf Coast Marine Services YouTube page.
The Sea Ray in this accident is a 55 Sundancer as produced from 2008 to 2009.  The 55 Sundancer was a replacement to the 52 Sundancer, with the model replaced by the 580 Sundancer.

Project: Sanlorenzo SX120

Sanlorenzo presents the SX120 project, the largest-ever yacht in the Italian SX crossover range, as designed by Zuccon with interiors by Piero Lissoni.  Sanlorenzo's SX crossover explorer line has been a huge success for the World famous Italian brand, a range which debuted with the SX88 as designed by Mauro Micheli in 2017, with this followed by the smaller SX76 and to date has sold in over 160 hulls for four different models from 23 to 33 meters.  This new big SX120 is to be a replacement of the SX112 which in a five years production has sold in sixteen hulls, and is to add some unedited features which appear for the first time in the range.  The big news is that it will use the new Volvo professional set up, of two engines per pod drive, by what is understood is that she is the first yacht to be commercialized with this propulsion which was announced by the Swedish engine maker at the Dusseldorf boat show of 2024.  The real unique traits of the SX120 though and helped by its 35 meters of length, will be a master stateroom on the forward deck, and a top fourth deck with free moving furniture, what Sanlorenzo calls the Sun Deck.  For the rest the SX120 builds on the features of the previous smaller SX's, from drop down bulk-heads which extend the size of the largest aft deck probably in the category with Sanlorenzo debuting these in 2023 with the SX100, to the lounge which serves the aft cockpit this presented on the SX112 and was then followed again on the SX100.  The first SX120 is I believe nearly completed with the first unit set to debut at the Cannes yachting festival.

Project: Maiora 42 Exuma

Maiora, a brand of Next Yacht Group, presents the project preview of the new 42 Exuma project, a yacht conceived to revolutionize the onboard experience by placing at its core the very essence of living at sea. The 42 Exuma is born from direct observation of daily life onboard and an authentic listening to the needs of owners and their guests. It breaks free from traditional nautical constraints, from guest cabins relegated to lower decks, to oversized and often underused main salons, to sacrificed crew spaces. Even the upper deck, typically the most active area on yachts of this size, has been reimagined compared to traditional layout, to offer owners and guests an exclusive space, free from forced cohabitation with technical areas and operational passages, embodying a new idea of privacy and liveability. This project proposes a human-central experience where every environment is conceived considering the real life onboard, breaking through classic archetypes. The result is a yacht that abandons the rigid, typical functional stratification of the yachting industry, giving back the yacht to its owner and the time spent at sea. The Maiora 42 Exuma was designed by the Maiora team, in collaboration with designer Giorgio Maria Cassetta for the exterior and Elie Saab for the interior. The concept and space planning were developed by the shipyard, proposing with this project a new living paradigm onboard. The exterior lines are signed by Giorgio Maria Cassetta, the internationally renowned designer who in eighteen years, has created more than four hundred yachts and contributed to reshaping the aesthetics of contemporary yacht design. The interiors are by Elie Saab, an expression of the unmistakable elegance of the famous couturier, bringing his sophisticated and timeless vision to the nautical world. With a length of 42 meters, the new Maiora flagship spans four decks and can comfortably accommodate up to twelve guests in four VIP cabins and the owner’s suite, all located on the main deck. The crew area includes 5 cabins for 9 people. The interiors stand out for their brightness, enhanced by extensive use of glass surfaces. The main living areas are distributed across the decks, where the functions are organized into wide and continuous spaces. The entire length of the vessel is accessible via walk-around decks in the upper deck, with both the main deck and the upper deck featuring openable terraces. The heart of the yacht is an open-space lounge on the upper deck, offering uninterrupted views from stern to bow and vice versa, an arrangement that allows those at the extreme bow to observe the entire longitudinal axis of the yacht without obstruction. The new Mairoa 42 Exuma is powered by twin IPS propulsion with four Volvo 1000hp engines for speeds up to twenty knots, and triple MTU 2600hp with MJP jet drives for top speeds up thirty knots. The first unit of the 42 Exuma has been sold, with construction started and delivery scheduled for Summer 2027.

Princess Super Yacht Collides Into Corinth Canal Bank, Greece

The forty meter Princess super yacht Le Verseau collided into the Corinth Canal left bank, in Greece as it was passing from the famous channel on Thursday seventeen July at 17:58 hours.  The story was broken by The Yacht Report on his video cast of Friday 25 July, for a video which is reported as sent by one of his viewers.  According to its AIS the Princess yacht was heading North West, going from the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea to the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea.  The cause of the collision are not reported though most probably the captain lost control because of the current which has the habit of becoming rather insidious at times.
This is the second reported yacht which collided into the Corinth Canal bank in less to a year, as on 28 July 2024 the 49 meter Heesen m/y Home suffered a similar fate.  But the chances are big that the collisions in the Corinth Canal are more common to this, with the lucky part being if you are filmed or photo'ed or not.
M/y Le Verseau is a 2016 Princess 40M as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2012 to 2019 in eight units.  The 40M is Princess largest built yacht to date, and was the second model of the M super yachts line which debuted with the 32M in 2011, and was stopped in 2019 with a 30M as its last build.
