Three boats where involved in a fire in the dry dock storage area at Safe Harbor Ferry Point Marina, Old Saybrook, Connecticut on 12:20 of Monday 25 November.  The fire started in a classic fifteen meter Hatteras sportfish yacht and then jumped to its boat on its port side, and later to that to its starboard.  Fire fighters responded to the blaze from land and the water with the fire fighting boat coming also to the scene via the Connecticut River.  No one was injured in the fire as the boats where all unattended, with the classic Hatteras which started the fire being totalled while the one to port side also receiving fire damage as it's plastic Winter overall went ablaze, with the one to starboard receiving some small fire damage.  The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, was also at the scene, and said that no environmental impact came from this fire.

The 70 Fly is also full of the modern and dynamic exterior lines that Absolute introduced with the 47 Fly in 2019 and has then evolved into the bigger models.  As is with the latest Absolute the 70 Fly offers the spacious and bright outdoor areas, designed for maximum comfort and refinement, include a versatile cockpit terrace with modular furnishings that allow for personalized space arrangements, and a convertible bow sundeck, ideal for moments of absolute freedom on the open sea.  The aft area, featuring an innovative sliding platform, facilitates direct access to the sea while also introducing a higher level of elegance, with soft lighting and dedicated relaxation and entertainment spaces. Each cabin is equipped with elegant furnishings, en-suite bathrooms, and smart solutions such as the electrically sliding bed in the guest cabin. Additionally, the two berth crew cabin located at midships and with separate access from the galley ensures smooth onboard management.  The Absolute 70 Fly is to be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives.

Sealine New Web Site

Sealine presents its new World wide web showroom.  Sealine was officially started in 1978 although its bases were laid in 1972, as aeronautical engineer Tom Murrant could not find a cabin cruiser he liked, and decided to design and build one himself.  Tom builds the mould for his design and goes to Midland Marine to produce this boat, offering a swap deal, they build it for him and they get the design.  Unfortunately for Tom, Midland Marine was a busy company at the time, and the production for his boat never gets started, it is here that Murrant meets Frank Fish who with Ray Walker and another friend offer him to build the boat in his garage. The result is the 23ft Continental, which gets so much positive remarks, that Tom decides to take five hundred pounds from his life insurance fund, recruit his wife Jane as secretary and set up Fibrasonic in a rented building at Halfpenny Green airfield near Bobbington in Staffordshire to produce the cabin cruiser.  It looks promising but only for a short time as the 1973 to March 1974 Oil Crisis hits the global economy hard in sixth October of that year, doubling resin prices, with the UK government introducing a 25% VAT and a three day week.  But Fibrasconic survives this period which lasts five years by branching into industrial moulding, producing items for the British Rail, road signs, Toby Jugs, and sub-contracting other boat builds for Sunliner and Scorpio.  In 1978 the Oil Crisis and its aftermath are over and Tom restarts his boat building bug and designs and builds the 19 Weekender, and in just six weeks completes it, with this followed by the 22 Sport and 22 Cabin in the same year.  These three boats debut to the public at the 1978 Southampton boat show, under the C-Line name, real meaning Cruiser Line, and in the same year Murrant moves to Kidderminster, the site of bankrupt boat builder Dawncraft.  In the end of 1979, the C-Line name was changed to Sealine.  From the beginning Sealine distinct itself for offering gelcoat color options in blue, orange or yellow, but also for presenting a clever volume focused design giving more space to the foot.  The eighties are full of expansion for Sealine and in 1984 it presents the new 30 Statesman flagship.  The size keeps on growing with the 365 Sportsbridge coming in 1988, and the 450 Statesman in 1992, and then into fifty foot yacht size in 1999 with the T51.  By the end of the eighties decade Sealine also enters the US market, and in 1998 is sold to a venture capitalist firm headed by Gerard Wainright.  The Wainright ownership last three years as in 2001 Sealine is sold to one of the largest pleasure marine industry corporations as USA Brunswick takes over the British boat builder for a reported 68 million US$.  The Brunswick period is followed by investment and expansion as Sealine also launches its largest model to date with the T60 in 2004.  Brunswick will sell Sealine in 2011 to Oxford Investment Group.  The Oxford period is dark for Sealine as it will declare bankruptcy a year later, and in 2013 is bought by current owners Hanse Group.  Hanse Group will only buy the brand and some of the tooling as it moves production to Greifswald Germany.  Sealine currently offers three series of boats; C for Coupe, S for Sport, and F for Flybridge for a total of nine models which starts at 33 feet with the C335 and and goes up to the F430 flagship.  Sealine latest new models is the S335 launched in 2022.  Sealine's new website takes you around with the following buttons; Motorboats, Sealine Legend, Magazine, Events, Dealers, Services, Contact Us, and Configure Now.  Sealine is also on social media with right bottom page buttons taking you to its Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Linkedin pages.

New Model: Benetti Class 44M

Benetti has launched the first unit of its new Class 44M launched in Viareggio, revealing the design work of Giorgio M. Cassetta, who showed an informal, natural settings four decks super yacht which recall the brand’s heritage. Launched in Viareggio and titled M/Y Juno’s 7 the first Class 44M unit was entirely designed entirely by Cassetta who also handled the interiors and the decor in partnership with the Benetti Shipyard’s architects. The designer has defined the yacht as “relaxing”, in line with the aim of the project that, from the outset, was to create informal settings that aren’t overly artificial or sophisticated, where the owner and guests can enjoy the ultimate in relaxation and comfort. These ambiances have been achieved thanks to the skilful use of large transparent surfaces, such as the mirrors on the hull sides in the main lounge that reflect the light and the water, making the spaces even brighter. There was also a special focus on the selection of the materials. One of the standouts are trowelled resin, chosen for the bathroom surfaces instead of marble, which is used exclusively on the main deck for the basins in the owner’s bathroom and the day-head. The varieties of FSC-certified wood used are the result of an in-depth study: antique elm, used for the interior flooring on all decks, preserves the natural knots in the wood and the planks have different widths and lengths to take advantage of every part of the tree. The choice for the walls, on the other hand, is striped ash selected with great care to obtain the ideal pattern for this yacht.  M/Y Juno’s 7 is the ideal yacht for safe, long cruises thanks to a layout meticulously studied to ensure maximum privacy and plenty of storage space. The Benetti Class 44M has four decks: the main deck is home to the owner’s cabin, the galley, the day-head and a spacious lounge with direct views of the water on both sides; the upper deck, in addition to the helm station and the generous interior living space that extends outdoors in the stern, offers an extra VIP cabin as an option; the sun deck provides over 102 square metres of deck space, while the lower deck contains the four guest cabins and the crew area. The beach club designed at the water’s edge becomes an independent, versatile and striking space, while the garage has been positioned along the port side. The level of soundproofing puts this 44-metre yacht at the top of the category, thanks to floating floors and bulkheads and flexible transmission couplings based on state-of-the-art technology, while the air-conditioning and treatment system ensures high-efficiency air circulation with six changes per hour. The Benetti Class 44M is powered by twin MAN 1400hp for a top speed of fifteen knots and a range of 4,100 nautical miles at a cruising speed of eleven knots.

Project: Maiora 36 Exuma

During the 2024 Fort Lauderdale boat show Maiora revealed some details of the latest project with the presentation for the upcoming Exuma 36. Designed by Quartostile for exteriors and Acube for interiors, the Maiora 36 Exuma project is an evolution of the multi-award winning 35 Exuma which debuted in 2020 and redefined the concept of versatility by blending together the looks and lines of traditional raised pilot house super yachts into those of more volume focused explorer style yachts.  An innovative design concept which received positive market response as Maiora has delivered four units in less to three years of the outgoing 35 Exuma model.  Now Maiora's parent company Next Group and designer Quartostile evolve this design to feature more, adding space especially on the upper deck which now uses nearly all the yacht length, but also for offering a cleaner horizontal yacht.  The Maiora 36 Exuma will offer a ten guest suites layout with an owners stateroom forward of the upper deck, and four guest suites below including of which is a very spacious VIP suite to starboard.  Crew accommodation is for five located forward of the lower deck, and also featuring a lobby with dinette and a second galley.  The Maiora 36 Exuma is powered by triple Man 2000hp with triple jet propulsion for top speeds up to 32 knots.

Project: Overmarine Mangusta Oceano 52

Overmarine present the Mangusta Oceano 52 project. Jointly developed by Overmarine's Engineering Department and designer Alberto Mancini, the Oceano 52 comes as a replacement to the Oceano 50 which launched in 2021 and has been delivered in six units.  For this new Oceano 52, Mancini brings the design features implemented on the latest Mangusta Oceano 39 and Oceano 44, which launched in 2022 and 2023 respectively. The Oceano 52 will be a modern super yacht, were form and function take on a cutting-edge style, with solutions that ensure a constant visual contact with the sea and preserve the concept of space and freedom of movement. The project team's in-depth design research has resulted in a vessel whose modularity means the Owner can enjoy the space they dream of for themselves and their ‘inner circle’, experiencing cruising at best and exploring new destinations. This means being able to adapt and customise even more. Every Mangusta Oceano 52 can therefore be truly considered as a one-off yacht relying on world-class technical characteristics, in line with Overmarine's long-standing tradition in the construction of yachts which successfully combine tradition, innovation, and quality.  Thanks to an in-depth study of glazed surfaces and technical solutions aimed at making all decks obstacle-free, onboard lifestyle on this vessel is comparable to that normally found on a larger sixty metre super yacht. A constant visual contact between indoor and outdoor areas is ensured everywhere across the yacht, especially on the main deck, which is almost entirely made of glass, particularly in the aft area, where all storage trunks have been moved outside. A deck above the rest express a new feature introduced with the Mangusta Oceano 52, what is a master stateroom located on the upper deck and facing forward, thereby enjoying half circle views on the horizon. Floor-to-ceiling windows let daylight flood the owner stateroom, from which is also a private outer deck, where the real protagonist is the large ‘Mangusta Signature’ infinity pool; from here, a convenient staircase leads down to the patio lounge on the main deck, an extremely versatile area that can easily be converted from gym area to lounge area.  Two guest/VIP suites have been arranged on the main deck, where the master stateroom would normally be found. This means that these VIP cabins benefit from a privileged position, unmatched brightness and wonderful views, making time spent indoors even more pleasant. The lower deck hosts four more guest cabins. The entire project and all design solutions revolve around the Owner; see-through materials, glazed surfaces and open spaces combine to obtain the perfect layout, allowing guests to always experience the pleasure of onboard life.  The first unit of the Mangusta Oceano 52 is currently under construction at Overmarine Group's shipyard in Pisa, to be build in steel and aluminium with a displacement shape hull and under 500 Gross Tonnage.  The Mangusta Oceano 52 is to be powered by twin MTU 1700hp for a top speed of seventeen knots, and a range up to 4500 nautical miles.

New Model: Zeelander 8

Zeelander Yachts has added its new flagship to its collection, following the launch of the 8 model.  It is a significant moment for the boutique yacht builder that just builds a handful of yachts every year to discerning clients, in a range which starts at fifty feet and goes up to this new eighty feet flagship. The Zeelander 8 is the largest yacht ever built by Zeelander, but it is also a close development of the existing product line, which starts with the fifteen meter Zeelander 5.  A pocket super sport yacht which just measures eighty foot at length over all the Zeelander 8 is designed by Cor D. Rover who sports the now known voluptuous classic yet modern lines of the Dutch yacht builder. Every Zeelander model is a work of art in a state of constant evolution. So, for all the family resemblance, the new Zeelander 8 has a prominent flowing shearline. Its gracefully raked stern and wrap-around windscreen will be familiar to admirers of the brand, and you will struggle to find a plain, straight line anywhere about the exterior. It is a testament to the design team that the Zeelander 8 shares the same perfect proportions as its smaller sisters, despite that impressive length, designer Cor D. Rover’s experienced touch is evident, alongside that of Zeelander’s dedicated in-house designers. At deck-level, the extra volume means more space for both a dedicated relaxing area and a large dining table with wrap-around seating. Then, below deck, there is a spacious full-beam owner’s cabin amidships plus two further guest doubles, all with ensuite bathrooms. While the Zeelander 8 is still conceived as a joy for the owner to drive, it is to be expected that additional service may also be desired, consequently at the bow of the yacht is two crew cabins sleeping three persons, located a separate entrance that ensures complete privacy for the owner and guests.  No description of the Zeelander 8 would be complete without evoking the curvaceous appeal of the aft deck, with deeply padded leatherette seats cocoon their occupants around a high gloss table. The transom is again classic Zeelander in the 8 flagship with more space and room as it swings open to expand into a huge twelve square metre bathing platform, essentially a private beach club, suspended invitingly above the water also as this area is not disturbed by a tender, which has its own dedicated garage amidships, running the full beam of the yacht and with a port side exit-entry door.  Owners know their minds when it comes to the details of their Zeelander, that is why the 8, but also the smaller models of the Dutch builder are customizable as possible in all key areas; from the aft deck, saloon, and guest cabins, along with all fittings and furniture customizations, can be tailored to individual preferences.  The Zeelander 8 is powered by quadruple Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp IPS pod drive propulsion set up.  With the large engines the Zeelander 8 reaches a top speed of forty knots, and can cruise at 32 knots.

Project: Pershing GTX70

Pershing continues to expand its GTX range as it follows the GTX116 and GTX80 with the project for a smaller 21 meter GTX70 to come in 2025.  Like the GTX80 which came this year, the Pershing GTX70 comes again from a design of Vallicelli, who followed similar clean lines and concept to the ten foot larger sister.  Vallicelli seems to have been given design duties of Pershing sports utility yacht GTX line, after 38 years of dedicated design duties by Fulvio de Simoni, which also includes the first GTX 116.  Like the 2024 arrived three meters bigger sister the GTX70 will feature an expandable beach area with drop down side bulkheads, a sport bridge, and a fore deck lounge sun-pad with entry from starboard. Some options exist for the exterior, from an aft sun-pad, to three helm chairs in replacement to the bench settee, and closable entry to the fore deck sun-pad.  The accommodation layout of the Pershing GTX70 is an astern galley central dinette layout, and a central located helm station forward.  Lower deck accommodation offers three cabins, with a full beam midships master stateroom, VIP suite forward, and third guest cabin with twin berths in between.  A single berth crew cabin with fore deck entry is located forward.  The Pershing GTX70 will be powered by triple Volvo 900hp with IPS pod drives for top speed estimates up to 35 knots, and a cruise of thirty.

Explorer Cruiser Collides Into Florida St. Augustine Bridge

An explorer cruiser of thirteen meters in length titled m/y Bright Side collided and got stuck with the Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine, Florida on the early afternoon of Sunday tenth November.  The explorer cruiser just did not make it because of its mast, but also because it tried to pass under the bridge on a high tide.  Other unconfirmed reports say the bridge also has its air-draft markings damaged following the recent hurricanes and storms, and these have not yet been fixed yet.  As of the early evening of the day Bright Side was still stuck with the bridge. This Bridge of Lions collision follows that of the Nao Trinidad classic Spanish schooner which lost power, and collided with the same bridge thirteen days ago.
M/y Bright Side the explorer cruiser in this collision is a 2005 Kadey-Krogen 44.  Produced from 2002 to 2011 in 26 units, the 44 came out as a replacement to the 42, the model which debuted Kadey-Krogen in 1977, and was replaced and evolved into the 44 AE in 2012.

New Model: Fiart P52

Debuting in 2022 with the P54 which has been renamed as P58 this year, Fiart continue to expand what it calls its Custom Luxury Boat line and presents the P52 model, which as the larger unit is also designed by Stefano Pastrovich.  Announced as a P48 project back in 2022, Pastrovich follows similar design and layout themes to the larger P58 model.  It is different also a bit unusual but it also works well for both the main and lower deck, with both the Fiart P52 and P58 giving complete but also unique stem to stern exterior deck spaces.  An important difference between the larger P52 to the P58 is a fixed bathing platform which can be specified with an optional transformer unit.  The idea of the Fiart Pastrovich yachts is that of a sport yacht which makes the whole open main deck connected yet split in designated areas.  As layout positions goes in the P52 it is all traditional; sun-pad aft, dinette at midships, and a second fore deck sun-pad, this last connected with the central windshield door.  In the Fiart P52 and P58 for that matter all is a bit longer, as no physical barriers exist in between the areas with a small exception being for the windshield.  Down below the Fiart P52 features a luxurious appointed two suites layout, with an owners stateroom at midships.  A lower deck galley is located in between the cabins as you go down from the port side located stairway which takes you to the cabin area.  The Fiart P52 is powered by twin Volvo 600hp with a top speed up to 35 knots and a cruise of thirty.
