New Model: Hardy 50DS

Hardy part of the Cockswell Group since 2020 has delivered the first unit of the new 50DS, a fifteen meter explorer yacht. Inspired by the original Hardy 50, this striking Category A sea-going explorer yacht, designed by Andrew Wolstenholme for spirited all-weather cruising, is a smaller version of the traditional 65DS and now incorporates many new features. Unlike most Category A motor yachts, the new Hardy 50DS is capable of speeds in excess of 25 knots but is equally comfortable at 8 knots with a range of more than 1500 miles. Combining the practicality and performance of a rugged, go anywhere cruiser with contemporary finishes, fittings and internal styling, this design also incorporates the very latest technology, not to mention all the comforts of a home from home. As well as delivering a double-berth en-suite owner’s stateroom; two double berth guest cabins with shared heads and shower, a vast deck saloon and large protected cockpit area for reclining and dining in luxury, this particular Hardy 50DS also includes the option of a fantastically spacious flybridge, complete with open helm and aft deck, to enable al fresco dining beneath the stars, outdoor relaxation in the heat of the sun or an idyllic vantage point from which to admire the view. A full-beam bathing platform enables you to dive into the blue with ease as well as store a 3.8m RIB. A spacious lazarette beneath the cockpit sole provides ample space for the Seakeeper 6 gyro stabilizer and any number of water toys, bicycles and pieces of deck equipment.

Regal Cruiser Partly Sinks After Fire Saved in British Columbia

A twelve meter Regal sport cruiser with three persons onboard partly sank in Mcneill Bay, near Oak Bay, British Columbia, Canada at 13:30 of Friday seventeen May.  The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was alerted of the twelve meter sport cruiser, that had an onboard fire in McNeil Bay, but when the Canadian Coast Guard arrived in ten minutes to the scene with the fast response craft, they found the fire extinguished with the boat now taking on water and sinking.  The Coast Guard first rescued and removed the three boaters from the sport cruiser and then towed and beached the vessel on the beach of McNeil Bay in order to avoid it from sinking.  Later in the evening a crane was brought in removing the boat from the beach.  None of the three boaters was injured, with the cause of the fire and then sinking not being reported.
The Regal in this fire is a 4260 Commodore as produced from 2002 to 2005.  The 4260 Commodore came out as a replacement to the 4160 Commodore with the addition of a T-top forward looking radar arch, and was replaced by the Regal 4460 Commodore which featured a fuller T-top and a longer extended bathing platform.

New Launch: Benetti 62m FB283

Benetti has in January 26th launched in a private ceremony FB283, a 62-meter full custom super yacht with a steel hull and an alumimium superstructure, tailor made for the owner like a bespoke suit. Signing off the entire project from a blank sheet of paper was Giorgio Cassetta, author of the exteriors and interiors, with hull lines and naval architecture by Van Oossanen. The Owner had expressed the desire for a yacht with four fundamental characteristics: speed, silence, long range and guaranteed fun for the family, and so it was: Benetti has built a yacht that makes the customer’s dream come true in every way, by tailoring it according to their desires, exactly like a bespoke suit. This was facilitated by the close and profitable relationship established between the yard, the project team, the designer and the owner, who was represented by Nicola Nicolai from Nicolai Yacht Consulting and Project Management, acting as advisor prior to the purchase and managing the entire construction process as owner’s representative and project manager. FB283’s exterior styling features extremely elegant lines, with a sleek bow and a stern sloping down towards the water’s surface, combined with the FDHF fast displacement hull meticulously researched by Benetti and Van Oossanen Naval Architects to deliver excellent performance. FB283 has a maximum speed of 21 knots and a range that makes it possible to cruise for long distances without stopping. Cassetta and his Rome based studio created a masterpiece of harmony, they have successfully conquered the art of purification to the essential and achieved the desired smoothness of surfaces. This coherence in lines can be seen as one of the studio’s trademarks. They deal away with unnecessary disturbances on the exterior design to leave the bare minimum of openings and gaps in the otherwise continuous surfaces. Seen from any angle, the yacht invites the viewer to run an invisible hand over the surfaces, smooth as a rock polished by a river. Deck fittings such as the massive oval capping rails, natural teak panels and solid wood and stone furniture give the vessel a “super yacht” feel rarely found on an Italian build of this size. Being entrusted by the Owner with both exterior and interior design, Cassetta added striking details to interface the two, such as the magnificent 6 x 2 meter uninterrupted windows on both main deck and upper deck. With a focus on comfort and conviviality, FB283 has been created with family life front and center, so there are plenty of storage areas offering space for all kinds of water toys and equipment for having fun in the water, including diving gear. Located forward on the upper deck, the garage is a veritable cathedral, with a side door and the space to contain a 10-meter tender, two jet skis and a second tender. A touch and go helicopter platform makes sure the owner and guests can reach the yacht whatever the location. FB283 construction process started during the 2020 lockdown period and as a result the yard made use of innovative and functional solutions. Thanks to the 3D technology used to develop the entire project, internal video calls to keep the owner constantly updated, and completely new working methods and timings, Benetti has once again expressed its full potential, showing that it can capitalize on its know-how and on winning production and engineering processes to breathe life into a one-of-a-kind Full Custom yacht. The capabilities and dedication demonstrated by the shipyard are the values that the owner appreciated most.

Project: Manda Yachts S09

Manda Yachts which arrived in 2023 continues to show its future with the project for a new S09 flagship model.  A project of Ceccarelli, the Manda Yachts S09 like the smaller S07 and S05 deceives categorization coming out as a super yacht in size with sporty features and fresh entertaining areas.  The selling point of the S09 as in the smaller Manda Yachts is the spacious aft just above sea level beach area which takes about 25% of the length of the yacht, and is connected to the lower deck of the yacht, which in standard plans connects it to the master stateroom.  The area is joined by three exterior entertaining areas, the aft main deck up top before going into the cabin, and the fore deck forward.  The enclosed living area of the Manda Yachts S09 is on the main deck, and it offers an L-shaped lounge sofa, dining area day head, a relaxing settee forward, and helm station to starboard.  The galley in the S09 is on the lower deck adjacent to the two crew cabins forward.  Accommodation is for four guest cabins, all with a private en-suite bathroom.  The Manda S09 also features a very invisible sport bridge accessed from an internal stair case, with this area offering a large sun-pad and a mini helm station to starboard.  The Manda Yachts S09 is to be powered by triple Volvo 1000hp for speeds up to 23 knots.

Multiple crews from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service responded when a significant fire broke out at Cockwells Modern and Classic Boatbuilding Ltd pre-production manufacturing site at Ponsharden on 00:08 of the night between Wednesday and Thursday morning sixteen May. Falmouth crews were first on the scene and found the building well alight. Additional crews were mobilised from Tolvaddon, Helston, Newquay, Truro Community fire stations to assist, along with two officers and specialist vehicles from Perranporth and St Just community fire stations.  No one was injured in the fire with Cockswell later saying the fire damaged no boat and should have limited effects to the production of Duchy Motor Launches and Hardy Motor Yachts, and will not affect that of Cockwells’ Superyacht Tenders, which are built at Cockwells’ sister site in Mylor Creek Boatyard.
Cockswell was founded in 1996 and today offers a line of five series; Superyacht Tenders, Duchy Motor Launches, Hardy Motor Yachts, Commercial and Defence, and Custom Builds.  Cockwells pleasure focused brands are Duchy a down east inspired line which debuted in 2011 following the redesigning of the Aquila 27 mold, and Hardy which it purchased in 2020.

New Model: Rio Le Mans 50

Rio launch the waited and anticipated Le Mans 50, the second in size of it's Coupe range, and first of it's Le Mans series which is to be followed by a smaller 45.  Based mostly on the Daytona 50 the Rio Le Mans 50 main difference is that it features more enclosed comforts on the main deck, thanks to a one part hard-top which stretches from the windshield and extends to about half of the aft cockpit deck.  This enclosed hard-top replaces the more open T-Top of the Daytona 50 model.  The accommodation of the Le Mans 50 is identical to that of the Daytona both inside and outside.  Considering that the exterior is used from fore to aft the lower accommodation deck offers nice spaces for two guest cabins and two shower heads sleeping four guests, with a free unit, in between the cabins.  The Rio Le Mans 50 is also offered with drop down bulk heads to port and starboard side, extending the space around the dinette and sun-pad around the aft deck.  The Rio Le Mans 50 is powered by twin Yanmar 550hp with line shaft propulsion for speeds up to forty knots and a cruise of thirty knots, with a triple 400hp Mercury outboard option also being available.

22 boats and yachts from five to 22 meters in length burned in a fire which started at 03:54 of the morning of fifteen May in Medulin Marina, Priveziste, Puntica, Croatia.  It is a miracle how no one was injured, with fire fighters from Pola responding to the fire with four vehicles and fifteen fire men, turning off the fire just after seven morning time.  The fire left no one injured with some people jumping in the water just as the blaze expanded to the whole pontoon from left to right.  An investigation is ongoing by the Port Authority of Pula and Istrian Police Directorate on how the fire started.
Some boats in this fire look to be a couple Bavaria sport cruisers, Innovazioni Progetti Mira, Rinker sport cruiser, Estensi Goldstar, Sasga, Sunseeker 47 Portofino, and what looks a Taiwan build motor yacht of about 22 meters which so far cannot be deciphered.

New Model: Holterman Xtreme X-54

Holterman like to call its small Xtreme X-54 as a pocket-sized superyacht, a legitimate claim due for the bespoke construction and custom features which comes even in the entry level of the Dutch builder futuristic looking Xtreme series.  The owners of the Xtreme X-54 required a relaxed and luxurious cruiser to enjoy on European rivers, made possible by a low height and collapsible mast for navigating inland bridges. The overall interior layout of the Xtreme 54 revolves around maximizing space. The main deck lounge has an extra-large sunroof which sheds lots of light on the seating area. A smart divider between the lounge and the galley doubles as an extra cupboard on the starboard side. The galley itself is highly spec'd and leads to a generous helm station. A bright and harmonious interior style with only a limited amount of wood is achieved by starting with darker colors at floor level and gradually lightening the feel using elements of lacquer and leather.  The Holterman Xtreme X-54 is powered by twin Volvo 175hp for speeds up to ten knots, while a cruise of eight knots will give a range up to 550 nautical miles.
