New Model: Codecasa 50 Vintage C121

In the wave of the great success met by the first two units of 42 meters belonging to the Vintage Series, namely Hull F73 built in 2011 and F75 built in 2013, Codecasa Shipyards delivered in July, 2015 the 50 meters version.  The new Codecasa 50 Vintage Series, Hull C121, named Gazella was also designed by in house by family owned Viareggio shipyard technical staff in co-operation with trusted designers, with the aim of finding the perfect balance between past and present.  For the first 50 meters of the Vintage Series, the Owner has chosen the white color for both hull and superstructure. The plain and traditional exterior lines combine with classic and rich interiors. As soon as you go in, your eyes is caught by the richness of the interiors, which are made of mahogany wood and mahogany plume, with flooring's that feature precious marbles and onyx or carpet with elegant decorations, depending on the areas. The main salon is made of a large conversation area with two big sofas, four armchairs in the red and gold tones, placed around a coffee table of mahogany wood with gilded details.  The whole area of the Salon is well lit by the natural light coming from the big windows and it is further increased by the continuation with the dining room, from which it is divided by a low partition cabinet. The dining room, with its rectangular table with the top of mahogany wood richly decorated with maple wood inlays, is able to sit up to twelve people.  From the dining room, we go into the pantry on the port-side and hence to the galley, equipped with last-generation appliances, distributed between the cabinets and the practical center island. A dumb-waiter directly connects the main deck pantry with the bridge pantry. Going forward on the starboard side, from the dining room we reach the main hallway, the flooring of which feature precious types of marble inlays. Hence begins the main staircase with its elegant handrail of dark metal with gilded details and with the walls covered of a material combining golden-leaf and mother-of-pearl that connects the bridge to the guests area on the lower deck.  The elevator, for four people, connects all decks, from the lower up to the sun deck.  Going forward on the Main deck we reach the VIP Cabin, with ensuite bathroom, which is close to the Owner’s Suite, this latter with private office, large cabin, spacious walk-in closets and two bathrooms, covered of Honey Onyx and connected to each other through the shower, the walls of which are decorated with an elegant floral mosaic. In the Lower Deck there are four Cabins for the Guests, two double-bedded and two twin-bedded, each one of them obviously with its own bathroom. Below deck is also the Crew Area, made of four double cabins, the Chief Engineer’s cabin, the crew mess and the laundry, equipped with three washers and three dryers. From the Crew Area it is possible to reach the deck underneath, with the dry storage, built-in walking-in refrigerators and large cold rooms.  On the bridge there is the cozy sky-lounge, more intimate and less formal than the main deck salon, featuring a comfortable sitting area in front of a large TV, a breakfast table, a bar furniture. Here the main color is blue, chosen for the marble used for the coffee table and bar furniture tops as well as for the upholstering fabrics and the carpet decoration. The deck is completed by a day toilet, a pantry and the Captain’s cabin, this latter directly connected with the radio room and the wheelhouse, provided with modern navigation, search and communication equipment in order to offer the utmost safety to the Owner and his Guests. The exterior areas are comfortable on all decks. The pleasant relaxation area on the main deck aft cockpit alternates with the alfresco dining area on the aft bridge, which is able to sit twelve people. Finally the sun deck has a large sunbathing area, a sitting, a bar corner and then a large Jacuzzi bathtub, for five/six people, provided with comfortable sunbathing mattresses.  Throughout the yacht, the best care has been devoted to the selection of the equipment for the satellite reception, Internet and entertainment systems.  Provided with a Castoldi 21’ jet tender and with Zero Speed stabilizers, Codecasa hull C121 thanks to its twin Cats 2365hp is able to reach a top speed of seventeen knots at light displacement and a range of about five thousand nautical miles at 12 knots speed.

Project: Azimut 66 Flybridge

The first month of the new year will see plenty of new developments for Azimut Yachts. At the upcoming Düsseldorf Boat Show, scheduled for January 23 through 31 2016, the Italian yacht-manufacturing company will present the world premiere of the Azimut 66, a new example of the ability to innovate that has made the company a world leader.  The Azimut 66 is part of the Flybridge Collection, the most classic of Azimut’s collections, and the one which has seen the most important renewal of its stylistic and technical content. The process of renewal of the range began with the Azimut 80 in 2013, to continue with the Azimut 50 in 2014 and the recent Azimut 72, unveiled in September. And so the team of Azimut technicians has been faced with the difficult task of producing a new twenty meter motor yacht combining all the innovations appearing in the most recent models in the new collection, a process that has transformed the 66 into a true icon representing the entire range.  Visitors to the Düsseldorf Boat Show will be the first to admire the harmonious lines of the Azimut 66, designed by Stefano Righini, with the hallmark shark’s fin shaped side window, the particularly spacious elongated flybridge and the prow area transformed into an exclusive lounge. The carbon fiber superstructure makes the vessel considerably lighter and increases its interior volume. Designer Carlo Galeazzi, who worked on the interiors of the Azimut 66 with the shipyard’s styling office, not only came up with the usual refined decor but focused his attention on the need to optimize use of space, obtaining extra storage space in the already ample interior volumes to make an even more convenient vessel.   Indeed if compared to the 64, the 66 will offer a four cabin layout, along with one of the most versatile split level saloons in the category, and one of the largest flybridge in the twenty meter size.  Handling wise the 66 will feature a hull designed by Studo Plana, which give a performance of 31 knots and 27 cruise with twin 1150hp Cat engines.

Project: Vanquish VQ48

The brand-new Vanquish VQ48 was designed entirely from scratch, while respecting the typical lines of Dutch sport boat builder. A major focus was on the input of clients who were looking for a blend of some of the best features of the VQ43 and the VQ50. As a result, the foredeck of the VQ48 features a smaller version of the dinette on the VQ50 plus the popular sun beds found on the VQ43. The design also includes two specially developed steering positions, a large lounge sofa and a smartly designed convertible top which differs from traditional biminis thanks to its tubes and braces. To further underline the ‘drivers’ boat’ proposition of Vanquish Yachts and meet the demands of the clients, this model was developed in close cooperation with renowned designer Guido de Groot, which has an excellent reputation worldwide and has worked on award-winning yachts for yards such as Feadship, Jongert, Mulder, and AB Yachts. Thanks in part to its experience in car design, the renowned agency successfully interpreted our ideas in the best possible way.  The new VQ48 combines the characteristic shape, awesome agility, supreme comfort and premium build quality that all Vanquish sports boats share while taking the design to an even higher level of sophistication. One of the highlights is the way a beautiful rub rail is incorporated into the design. We also offer you the opportunity to customise the VQ48 in accordance with your personal wishes and demands. Inside the VQ48 will feature a double berth a small saloon, shower head, and a galley wet bar.  Power will come from pod drives with 600 and 715hp choices.

Project: Heesen 50m Project Nova

In a world full of noise, Heesen believes silence is the ultimate luxury so here comes the new fifty meter project Nova. The exterior of Nova is designed by Omega Architects and it’s a first for Heesen with hybrid propulsion. In this case hybrid means that the yacht can draw on two sources of power for propulsion: diesel mechanical and diesel electrical. Either or both sources can be used at the same time. No batteries. This provides more flexible power management, which means better efficiency, less noise and less vibration. Up to 9 knots Nova will be as silent as when at anchor.  Nova-Hybrid is not only fuel efficient, but also great care in living space optimization designed in this case by Sinot. Featuring Heesen patented Fast Displacement hull the fifty meter project Nova will offer a 16 knots top speed, while a cruise of 12 knots gives a range of 3750 nautical miles.

Best of 2015

A new year always means a fresh start, with a will to do better then the previous one.  2016 and the years ahead will be an interesting one for the boating industry with the planning boat seeing growing competition in the sub twenty meter sizes from the semi-displacement-planning hull shape. Is fifteen knots really the new cruise speed to be? In a World going always faster I am not so sure.  But for the people who have a lot of time in there hands, it is an interesting option.

PowerYacht's best of 2015 is the Riva 88 Florida. The growing dominion of hard-top sport yachts upwards of fifteen meters in the last ten to fifteen years, has shown its shortcomings.  The main one is that boating is first and foremost life in the open air, and the three part hard-top reduces this a lot.  Ferretti Group and Riva resolve this with the 88 Florida, thanks to a clever patented hard-top called the Convertible Top which becomes fully open and hides in the foredeck.  Italian invention does it again.

The others.

Cruisers 60 Cantius. Euro looks have invaded North America, and this shows with Cruisers new largest ever eighteen meter flagship designed by Facheris, who brings a modern design language for this 1956 founded company.

Galeon 500 Fly. Flip open side bulkheads are not new, with an Italian builder presenting the technology back in 2008.  Polish Galeon introduces it first time on a flybridge yacht, and the affect is a fresh take how to expand social areas from inside to outside.

Raffaelli 42 Typhoon Sportage. Raffaelli has been quiet in recent years, now returning with this innovative new thirteen meter which tries to give the best of flybridge and hard-top boats.  In the seventies we had some similar designs which turned out to be successful.  Will it do the same today?

Sabre 66 Dirigo. At 22 meters Sabre's new flagship is the largest fully American built and designed down east inspired lobster yacht.  Considering the genre is American it was time to do it.

Sanlorenzo SL86. Replacing your top selling model after twenty years of production and success is not easy.  Sanlorenzo does this courtesy of Mauro Micheli, who is on duty for a smaller similar 76.  Has the Sanlorenzo overhaul started?

Sunseeker 57 Predator. Sunseeker catch with the Italian competition and present a fully enclosed hard top sport yacht with a patio door that fully opens and disappears in the floor.  This is Sunseeker hitting a sweet spot of comfort inside and outside with sporty lines in seventeen meters.

Tiara Q44. One of Americas favourite names does it again, turning the walkaround concept into a hard top sport cruiser full of versatility.  This is an all season cabin, day, and fishing cruising boat in one which Tiara calls the Adventure Yacht.

Wider 150. The third model from Tilli Antonelli Wider goes 34 meters bigger.  But forget the size, as this new flagship is all about using diesel electric propulsion to new affect, including which is a forward located engine room.

Sweet sixteen. Ferretti 550. Ferretti returns with a new entry level sixteen meter of length flybridge motor yacht model.  For a year or two the famous Italian name abandoned sub eighteen meter sizes, in a strange act of product placement, especially when you think that among its all time best sellers two have been in this sixteen meter size.

PowerYacht wishes to all its followers, friends, readers, and visitors a Healthy and Prosperous 2016 year.
