New Model: Toy 47 Tender

It's been a renaissance going on since a decade plus, with offers coming from USA, Italy and England. But lets be honest, there is something special about the new Toy 47 Tender and the style of boat its represents that of the traditional down East lobster cruiser, that says use me. Could be the fat rubber rub rail, or its squarish sloop stern, surely the 47 Tender has not the usual harbor queen looks most lobster yachts and cruisers represent. The new Toy 47 Tender is a project from Nauta who did an outstanding job in presenting a classic looking yet practical boat, which the market seems to be rewarding with already five hulls sold in less to a year since hull one was launched. Day users will surely like the gigantic cockpit which uses two thirds of the 47 Tender length, an area divided for sun worshipers with the sun-pads and lounging forward thanks to the two C-shaped dinettes.  Down below is space for two cabins, shower head, galley, and an utility room. Owners room is located to fore. Power is twin Cummins 480hp engines with ZF pod drives propulsion giving max speeds of 35 knots.

Web: Toy Marine New Web Site

Toy Marine which comes from the North West part of Italy presents its World wide web virtual showroom.  Toy was founded in 2002 by Alessandro Novella and Aldo Tomasina, to create a line of traditional looking cruisers and yachts based on the down East lobster boat design.  Ten years later to its founding Toy features a line of six models all designed by Nauta, from the best seller 36 model, to the 110.   Three of the current Toy models are still in project stages, the 13mt Tender, 51 Fly, and upcoming 110 flagship.  Toy new website is available in Italian and English language; and takes you around with the following buttons; Company, Toy 36, Toy Tender, Toy 51 Toy 51 Fly, Toy 68, Toy 110, Toy News, and Contacts Us.  Toy also features a facebook page with a direct link from the web site.

Project: Toy 44 Tender

Toy shows the very interesting project for a 44 feet model called the Tender.  The North Italian Toy says this 44 project represents a hybrid between a down East lobster boat in looks, and day boat tender practicality which can be used for a Villa or a large super yacht.  Designed by Nauta the line of the 44 is indeed an all lobster boat, but the unusualy big rub rail, flash fore deck, and open aft deck do suggest a very daily fast use of the new Toy 44.  Still it is worth to say not to be mistaken as the 44 Tender still offers over night accommodation for four in two cabins below, in the many layouts which will be offered to this model.  Power for the Toy 44 Tender is from twin 500hp Cummins engines, which give a top speed of 32 knots, and cruise at 26 giving a very good medium range of 700 nautical miles.  Impressive range in this size, and at this speed, which I cannot contradict due to the builder not advising fuel capacity.

Project: Toy 51 Fly

As has been in various traditional down East lobster yachts over fifty feet, Toy presents the project for a flybridge version of the 51 model.  The Toy 51 Fly designed by Nauta should follow the lines of the standard model, but gets added with a second helm station, and lounging area up top.  Access to the flybridge will be from a ladder to port side.  The flybridge layout is for a central helm, L-shaped settee to starboard, and an aileron radar arch located centrally.  Inside a layout as that of the 51 should follow with a garage for a tender aft, and an interior living having a galley, and saloon on the main deck.  The lower deck is a two cabins layout, with owner room to fore, and a double guest to starboard.  Both rooms have spacious shower heads.  A one person crew cabin to port, and an utility room to starboard are located to mid ship. A further option also exists to have the owners room with a two singles berths instead of the queen double.  Standard power of the Toy 51 is for twin Cummins 715hp which give a very good 34 knots top speed.

Project: Toy 110

The apex of the Toy design philosophy, the Toy 110 features the elegance of the classic motoryachts of the 60’s. These soft and sober lines have been carefully revisited by Nauta design, that adapted it to the actual retro modern lines of the smaller yachts in the Toy Marine range. The hull is built in steel while the deck house is in aluminium for a total approximate weight of 200 Tons. The project has been developed to feature both traditional diesel propulsion with inline propellers as well as diesel-electric propulsion featuring electric motors with rotating pods. This last option has been thought in order to give maximum range, as well as lowest vibrations and sound levels. The interiors are completely adaptable to the owner’s tastes, it will feature 1 Master cabin, 2 guest and 1 VIP cabin; while it will accommodate 5 crew members. Its exterior surfaces reflect the Toy philosophy, allowing large open teak surfaces that leave its configuration to the owner’s imagination.
